Vaughn Carson vowed never to step foot in Bearclaw Castle again.
The cursed place has brought his family nothing but pain for generations, so he doesn’t understand why his brother would want to restore it. Better to tear it stone from stone and hope the bitter memories crumble with the rubble. Before he can see that happen, though, he has to convince his brother to leave and take the rag-tag pack he’s collected with him. Then Vaughn can destroy the castle and go back to wandering alone. He’ll be fine, even if his bear would rather sniff around one of his brother’s shifters than return to the woods. The sweet woman with the pixie cut and the unexpected stubborn streak makes him want to stay and figure out family again. But Vaughn knows his ancestral home is bad luck, and if he loves a woman, it’s all the more reason to get her far away. He’d never forgive himself if anything happens to her.
Mimi Fisher knows better than anyone what’s wrong with Bearclaw Castle. After all, it was her ancestor who cursed the Carsons, bringing misery on both their families. Mimi is determined to find the remaining two stones whose destruction will break the curse, setting both the Carsons and her own family free. She dreams of raising children with a hope she could never have—of being regular shifters with true fated mates.
When she meets Vaughn, his gentle attention only increases her resolve. If anyone deserves the freedom to love and prosper, it’s Vaughn Carson. She’ll liberate him from the curse, even if it means she’s paving the way for someone else to love him. If Vaughn is alive and happy, that’s all her heart needs. She doesn’t deserve any more, and she’ll content herself with that.
Even if her bear seems confident she won’t have to.
Twisting Fate (Book 4 in The Curse of Bearclaw Castle series) is a steamy, action-packed romance with a resolution that both satisfies and points toward a final showdown with the curse in Book 5.
Reading wasn't always Emilia's passion, but over the years she developed an irreplaceable love for books. She writes about large, protective alpha males and their strong, sexy female mates. If you enjoy steamy shifters and fated mates, then you'll LOVE Emilia's books!
Talk about twists and turns and suspenseful! I couldn't put this down. The curse is back and the entire time reading I was practically on edge. This is great and sexy and suspenseful and amazing!
Wow! Just when you thought it was safe to enter Bearclaw castle, the Curse returns with a vengeance. This time Vaughn must try to overcome the whispers trying to turn him against Mimi. Will he succeed, or will he kill the only woman he will ever love? This is a great story and I highly recommend it. 4th book in the Curse of Bearclaw Castle. They just keep getting better! This is the story of Mimi and Vaughn. Vaughn has returned to Bearclaw Castle to try and force his brother and his pack to leave so he can destroy it. As soon as he see’s Mimi he knows she is his mate. He tries to avoid her but his bear isn’t having any of it. Mimi is equally drawn to him, but being a submissive, she isn’t sure how to approach him, plus she fears everyone will hate her when they find out that it was her great-great-grandmother that put the curse on the castle. The longer he is there, it becomes clear the “curse” has gotten a hold of him. He tries to stay away from Mimi for that very reason. But fate has other plans and Mimi knows she needs to find another brick to destroy the hold it has over Vaughn. She thinks she knows where the brick is, but by that time he is totally under the influence of the curse and she needs help from his brother to keep him away from her so she can destroy the brick. She finally finds it and destroys it to free Vaughn. Now she can have her happy ever after that she always thought she would never have. Great book from start to finish!
Can’t wait for the next book! There is still one more brick to find and destroy if these happy couples want to remain that way.

3.5 stars
This one took us back to the curse of Bearclaw Castle*. Mimi's ancestor is the one that set the curse, but as curses go it has had a negative impact on her family as well. Mimi is a submissive shifter, the dominate, more aggressive shifters leave her scared. Vaughn is only back at the family castle to keep his brother from repeating history. If he thought the stones would burn, he would set fire to the whole thing.
I liked the romance between Mimi and Vaughn. Some parts I just thought were a little too fast and could have been expanded a bit. The curse was clearly messing with Vaughn, but his bear was working hard to protect Mimi and him from the curse. I could understand why Mimi was reluctant to tell Vaughn, and the rest of the pack, about her connection to the curse, I thought the way she kept hedging certainly caused its own problems. The ending definitely felt like a TBC, leading in to the next book. I wish there had been just a bit more of a close for Mimi and Vaughn before the next trouble started.
*Books 2 & 3 didn't really deal with the curse, but rather with relationships with the other pack members.
As a submissive shifter Mimi Fisher had always been complacent, servile and ready to flee at the slightest sign of conflict. Now that Broderick’s brother had returned to the castle and not with the best of intentions for the pack, she didn’t know what to do. Knowing her involvement in the matter that continued to threaten the Carson’s descendants, the presence of Vaughn had her on edge. Her future was at stake and she could not sit idly by watching everything collapse and her life in possible danger. Enjoyed seeing how little by little the skittish Mimi was growing a spine and considering herself as part of rather than settling for being a viewer. Good that she got what had been missing in her life. Smart that Vaughn was feeling the waters first, until everything was overboard. Way to strike! I was already wondering when the blast came. An interesting, amusing and entertaining plot development where the mouse was a step ahead of the cat. Now wait and see what Mimi's brother comes with. Who will be the next victim? Hum! I think I know who it's going to be. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I liked and received free from Booksprout.

Vaughn is confused as to why his brother wants to save the castle. That place has cursed his family for years. He really doesn't want to go back there, but he sees no other way. He has to get his brother and his followers out of there, so he can destroy that place for good. Mimi is part of his brother's group. She's there to try to find the last few stones that will break the curse her family placed years ago. But, does Vaughn and his family know it was Mimi's family that is the cause of all their troubles? What will happen if or when they find out? What a incredible reading experience this series has been. I can't wait for the next book. Emilia Hartley knows how to put it down, right? Simply awesome author. Now, you don't have to read every book in the series. But, it makes this series more enjoyable when you do. Besides, why take a taste of your favorite dessert when you can have a full serving? And remember, if you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first.
This is the fourth book in the series and we actually get to find out more about the curse plaguing Bearclaw Castle. I would recommend reading the other books in this series first so you have an understanding of the characters and their situation.
Mimi is not like the other bear shifters we've met. She doesn't have the alpha aspect, being a submissive shifter she goes into hyperdrive when she meets Vaughn who is a larger than life alpha male. He's the type of guy that normally has her running and instead she keeps putting herself in the middle because she can't keep away. Mimi has her secrets though and is worried to let him in because when he finds out what she's hiding she knows he'll never forgive her.
I enjoyed the character dynamic of this story. There are quite a few twists and turns to keep readers engaged in the story. Readers will be rooting for the happy ending while trying to figure out if there's a way to actually break the curse before things get out of control once more.

I found the fourth installment in this series to be okay. I was really excited for Mimi’s story and I felt a little let down by the story. It felt like the whole story focused on her being a submissive and how unusual it was for her shifter type. That being a submissive defined who she was and nothing else mattered. The negativity she viewed herself in was very discouraging. Nothing was said about the inner strength she carried, nothing was done or said to show her how strong she was or help her give a better view of herself. The male was back and forth fighting the curse but never bothered to actually talk to his brother about what happened, he went based off of his assumptions. It was a bit frustrating and a bit of a let down. The plot was okay but seemed a little stretched. The characters were a little flat.
I give this a three out of five stars. The plot was okay but the characters were a bit of let down.

Bearclaw Castle is the ancestral home of Vaughn and Roderick. He is shocked, when Roderick reopens and renovates the castle that had seen so much tragedy, when his father inexplicably turned on his beloved wife and killed her and then himself. He goes back to persuade his brother to give up the castle - even more so, when he hears that it was cursed. He does not step foot into the castle but stays in the nearby boat house that was renovated to a guest house. He meets Mimi, who is a descendant of the woman who had cursed the house and made it her task to break that curse. Sweet-tempered and a submissive by nature she is drawn as much to Vaughn, as he is drawn to her gentle soul. A beautiful love story - a continuation of the Bearclaw Saga, and this time we actually have to deal with the curse itself again, as we have another member of the Carson family in Bearclaw. A well-written story, entertaining and an interesting new development into the overall story, engaging the reader throughout I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Spoilers - Vaughn is the brother of the alpha and has returned to the castle, to destroy it so it does not destroy anyone else. Alpha Roderick will not budge though and the group he has assembled rely on each other and trust each other. Mimi is a loner and secretly she knows more about the curse because he ancestor placed it onto the alphas family. Vaughn and Mimi are pulled together, but the curse contradicts their feelings and reality often, including hiding a stuffed bear. When things start to get really bad with Vaughn, Mimi knows one of the cursed bricks are where Vaughn has been staying. With no time left, it attacks him again and his rage is huge. Her deductions of where the stone may be is the only thing that saves her, as well as a little help from Roderick. The ending puts them together, but even worse danger just showed up..... Loved this book and the whole series. Now on to the next one to see what happens next.

Ana came to town to return her ex-fiance's ring he left her standing at the alter and she wants to make sure that the ring is returned so she can move on but things are not always as they seem and Brandon runs away from her when he finds her on the side of the road. She follows him to his job and forgets herself but the people living in the house realize that this is the woman who can make Brandon happy but he doesn't think so but he makes a point to stay near her especially at night as she is staying at the motel instead of staying at the castle with Carolina and Morgan and their mates Ana was talking to Carolina who gave her a job and she finds out that the letter was from Morgain and not from Brandon. Ana makes a big decision and so does Brandon. A really good storyline and the characters were very interesting. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Roderick's Brother, Vaughn, finally returns to the castle and the curse is back with a vengeance against the Carson boys. Mia has always been a submissive bear and the rest of the pack watches over her. As the only one unmated, she doesn't quite feel like that she belongs. Add that to her feelings about her ancestor cursing the Carson family and the arm it has done to her own, she is a bit of a mess. She is determined to find another stone to help break the curse but at what cost?
There were some creepy vibes from the curse trying to destroy Vaughn and Mia, Vaughn's bear trying to be protective, some tender moments and continued friendship and love among the pack. The lives of the pack members we've grown to know and love continue and are intertwined with Mia and Vaughn's story. Just when things are looking up we find out what will be needed to find the third stone and end the curse forever. Until next time...
Mimi is a fragile submissive with secrets. She’s hiding from her family while working at Bearclaw Castle. Vaughn shows up to save his brother and his brother’s pack from the curse of the castle. Neither of them recognize the mating bond that is working its magic on them. In conjunction with Mimi and Vaughn's romance, this book picks up the plot-line of the curse of Bearclaw castle that was introduced in "Tempting Fate." This book is not a standalone. You need to have read the prior books to understand the plot, including references to events and characters. Mimi, Vaughn and the Bearclaw Castle pack continue the battle against the curse in this book. The book ends with the arrival of Mimi's brother. You will need to purchase the next book to find out if the pack dispels the curse once and for all! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 4th book in this series and it was awesome I just couldn’t put it down and it kept me captivated till the very end. Vaughn Carson has returned home to convince his brother to leave Bearclaw Castle and it’s curse that lives within the walls so he can destroy it. Upon meeting the ragtag clan his brother has around him he try’s to get them to leave also but when he meet Mimi Fisher he was so drawn to her but he doesn’t need a mate. Mimi want to be with Vaughn but cannot because she is the reason the curse is bringing misery to the Carson’s or it was her ancestors that done it and she must find the 3 bricks that hold the curse with one already destroyed she must find the last two to save Vaughn and may have a future together. Does Mimi find the bricks in time or will the curse take Vaughn forever.

After being left on the altar by Brandon a year ago, Ana thinks she is ready to face him for the first time and return his ring. She needs closure in order to move on with her new boyfriend. He has a secret he can't share with her and it was what caused him to not be there to marry her. They both still love each other and struggle with this desire to be together when the past and this secret are hanging over them. Both Ana and Brandon are beautiful people who suffer because their love seems impossible. The pack is the best and great friends. I just love Hugh and Bert! Cute and delightful old men, remind me almost of the old men in "the Muppets" show. Ana and Brandon are lucky to have found such a wonderful crew to "adopt" them

TWISTING FATE is the fourth installment in Emilia Hartley's series, The Curse of Bearclaw Castle. Ms. Hartley is a talented author that brings us characters that are headstrong, compassionate, funny, sad and determined in this entertaining steamy read.
Vaughn, Roderick's brother, has returned to Bearclaw Castle with a roar. He is determined to remove everyone from the castle and burn it down, but he didn't anticipate the submissive litter bear, Mimi.
Mimi had never imagined being safe in the presence of such a dominant bear. Now she is more determined than ever to end the curse her ancestor placed on this Castle and the family.
Can the quiet and timid Mimi find the strength to stand up to Vaughn and the curse before it destroys him, his brother or anyone else?

This story focuses on Vaughn and Mimi. Vaughn Carson has been a loner and vowed never to step foot in Bearclaw Castle again. He doesn’t understand why his brother would want to restore it when he would rather see it torn down. It’s been nothing but a curse to his family.
Mimi Fisher knows is aware of exactly what is wrong with Bearclaw Castle because her ancestor was the one who cursed the Carsons and caused both families to suffer. Mimi wants to find the two stones whose destruction will break the curse on both families. She especially wants to break the curse for Vaughn, even if she has to see him fall in love with someone else. His happiness is what has become important to her. Will she succeed in her mission? Will freeing them all from the curse open up possibilities for Mimi and Vaughn?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story about a new bear shifter Brandon, who was fighting his bear inside him from the moment he was turned into a shifter by a wild bear. Ana was his fiancée whom he left at the alter, she thought it was because he no longer loved her, but she had. O idea he was now as he called himself a monster.
A year later Ana is on her way to return the engagement ring to him so she can have closure. There are so many great things to read about in this book, I couldn’t spoil the story by telling you about them, you will have to read them for yourself. It’s well worth buying this book.

A double curse , a submissive bear and an angry and frightened bear should be nothing more than a horror story but is a fast moving, exciting and fun ( strangely enough ) romance with lots of twists a beautiful and very wise bear a lake for cooling hot heads and the need to think in more unusual ways . If you have followed this series you will love this story , if not you will still love the story then need to go read the other stories. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone even if you miss some of the references it doesn't detract from the main story Cant wait to find out how the rest of the series works .

It was great to see Mimi have a starring role in this story. Mimi was born a submissive bear shifter which is unusual as most are dominant. She has spent her life afraid and trying to please everyone. She is descended from the original woman who created the curse and has joined the pack to try and break the curse if not for herself than for any children she may have. Vaughan is Roderick's brother and has seen firsthand the impact of the curse with the way it destroyed his parents. The curse starts to effect him as his feelings for Mimi grow but can the next cursed stone be found before another tragedy occurs. Looking forward to the next book.

This is the fourth book in The Curse of Bearclaw Castler by Emilia Hartley. Each book is set in the same setting and has a lot of the same characters, but each book can be read as a stand alone. I think this is my favorite book of the bunch so far. Ana is trying to return a ring to her ex-fiance in order to give herself closure. Brandon ran out on his fiance on their wedding day due to being changed into a bear. He is all screwed up and afraid he is going to hurt Ana. Ana has a new boyfriend who I think is a real jerk and using her. He shows up in the story as well. This is a good book and I enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. Great 4th book! I loved reading about Mimi’s story, she’s just seemed so important to everything and now I know why. Vaughn, Roderick”s younger brother finally comes home to beg him to leave the castle before it destroys him. Mimi has a really playful side when she’s not being afraid and Vaughn is drawn to it. This book was super intense and really added to the overall storyline. It was a little oppressive with the curse hanging over Mimi’s head and making her life miserable but the author did a good job of interspersing good times to lighten it up too. I highly recommend this book, Vaughn was super romantic and you’ll fall in love too.

Vaughn is such an alpha male. I love how he is softened a bit. We can definitely see the positive changes that the now mated pairs on each other. The curse is getting stronger and stronger but Mimi stepped up. I was a bit worried in the beginning about how Emilia was going to progress Mimi but Oh boy did you do a good job capturing her. I love the details to really capturing the anxiety of her characters. I did not want to put the book down so I snatched time in between virtual school sessions for my little ones. It was a romance but in the end, I was on the edge of my seat! I'm so ready for the next book to come out in this series. It's been juicy and just an all-around good read.

This story is about Mimi and Vaughn. It's also about the curse of Bearclaw Castle. It starts off with the return of Vaughn fighting his older brother and nearly trampling Mimi in the process. At first you don't know who the new shifter is, until it's insinuated and mentioned. (I'd recommend reading the first three books first.) There's this almost instant connection between Mimi and Vaughn that they both try to fight. Mimi believes that she's not meant to have a fated mate while at the same time Vaughn is fighting to protect her from him. He doesn't want her to end up like his mom. Though things get heated between them. How so? Well, pick up the book and take a quick read and find out!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Twisting Fate by Emilia Hartley is the fourth book in The Curse of Bearclaw Castle series. I really have enjoyed this series. I expected this book to be Mimi's story, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was Mimi and Vaughn's. This series has slowly made progress to its conclusion with lots of action, drama, lust, love, chaos and a cast of characters that you can't help but want as pack mates! As we close in on the finale, all the loose ends seem to be getting tied up and the heat and drama has been ratcheted up too. Here is a fun and entertaining series I don't want to see end. But, Alas! All good things...
This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy through Booksprout.
¿What would it happen when you have hidden your most inner secrets behind a façade everyone seemed to believe? Obstinacy came in order. Both Mimi and Vaugh shared it, with different reasons that appeared to be valid. However, they desired more in their lives. Determination could be the clue to unveil secrecy.
Emilia Hartley tails this bear shifters series, joining two amazing players that hidden their desires and misunderstand their life motives. This paranormal storyline was full of hesitancy, secrecy, magic, guilty, hidden desires, and romance where willpower and conviction were the forces that could break fate. ¡A must-read book that pulls you in and never let you go! ¡I cannot wait for the next chapter of this series!

Mimi isn’t your average bear shifter, she is a submissive, so when larger than life Vaughn appears at the castle and generates all these new feeling in her it leaves her confused. Vaughn has come to get his brother out of the castle so he can destroy it and along with it the curse, but the attraction between them can’t be denied and Vaughn learns how to treat Mimi gently so they can explore their feelings fully. Mimi brings out the best in him and makes him wonder if he is doing the right thing destroying the castle. This is a lovely story and I just loved the way they both found better sides of themselves. I received an ARC from the author and leave this review voluntarily.
