This is an excellent resource for school psychologists at any career stage. This is filled with practical advice, strategies, and inspiration, and is an absolute pleasure to read. Dr. Branstetter has a gift for presenting meaningful information in an engaging and friendly way. There is nothing dry or tedious, which is remarkable for the amount of research based strategies. This felt like reading something written by a brilliant, funny, and compassionate friend. I particularly enjoyed the featured experiences of several school psychologists and how they benefitted from these strategies. Above all, this is a concise and immediately useful guide.

This is a must-read for all school psychologists and graduate students! Dr. Branstetter provides practical recommendations to common obstacles that school psychologists face. These tips are reinforced by powerful anecdotes of how she and other school psychologists went from surviving to thriving. I wish they taught this in graduate school!

I have been a fan/ follower of Dr. Branstetter for awhile and am very fond of her. She seems very approachable, likeable, has excellent ideas and suggestions, and is an engaging writer.

I loved her first book that included templates, suggested letters, printable sheets, etc. I bought that book shortly after I finished graduate school and wish I’d read it sooner.

This book is okay. The structure of her “four pillars” is logical, helpful, and provides great organization throughout the book. That being said, much of this material is covered in her 1 hour presentation that she does to garner membership in her Thriving School Psychologist group.

I did find much of the book to read like a long brochure tempting the reader to gain access to her high paywall group through testimonials. I get it. Girls gotta make money and I’m sure the group is well worth it in the end, however, for an early career professional the $700 fee is prohibitive for me at this time. I thought the heavy emphasis on purchasing membership into her group brought about more ‘fomo-ness’ than the inspirational message of “you can do it!” that she seemed to be shooting for at the conclusion and had me feeling like I’d just read a long sales pitch.
