Break is the fifth and final book in the B.A.D. Inc series by Tracy Lorraine and Angel Devlin. It’s Oliver’s story, one that was hinted at vastly during Provoke, which is almost the prelude to Break, as it has a love triangle, and the fallout of the events in Provoke are dealt with in this book. It went in a completely different direction to what I thought, and I am so glad it did, Tracy and Angel wrote Oliver’s story absolutely perfectly, and by the end, all the thoughts I had about his character when reading Provoke had turned a complete 180. I am trying to keep this as vague as possible, because I don’t want to ruin who the heroine in Break is, because it should be a surprise!
Oliver is the creative director of B.A.D. Inc, a multimillion-pound magazine company, who’s five owners are known for being ruthless. He had an on/off relationship with his friend, and fellow owner of B.A.D. Inc, for years, to the point where it became toxic, and it sent Oliver into a downward spiral. He’s now trying to find a new normal, his place in the company and his world without leaning on his ex, so when he quite literally runs into a gorgeous woman who doesn’t know his old self, he sees it as his second chance at finding happiness. But what he doesn’t realise, is that the run in wasn’t as accidental as he thought, and all may not be as it seems.
By the end of Provoke, it was clear that Oliver was a broken soul but that we had only scratched the surface, but in no way could I see how he could redeem himself, it was almost like he was the villain. But in Break, Tracy and Angel wrote his development so well, they changed my complete outlook on him, seeing things from an alternate perspective from his point of view, which is something I think only good writers can do, make you suddenly on the character you used to dislike’s side. Oliver was determined to move on with his life and prove to his friends that he was passed his obsession, and he wanted his ex to be happy. The heroine was everything he needed, because although it started off with secrets and deception, underneath that, they were both their most genuine selves, people they couldn’t be with anyone else.
I am sad to see this group go, their banter, friendship and overall bad boy and girl billionaire personalities will be missed, and I highly recommend the series!!
