Finding Kenna

Rate this book
After jumping into a canal to save a man’s life, only to find out that he was a Navy SEAL not in the need of saving, Kenna and Marshall “Aleck” Smart hit it off.

Aleck is intrigued by the bubbly waitress who almost landed on his head during a training exercise, and after getting to know her better, is thrilled they’ve hit it off so well.

Being a waitress might not seem like it’s a dangerous job, but when a threat comes too close to the woman Aleck loves, it will take all his expertise to make sure they both make it home alive.

Most embarrassing meeting ever, but the sparks between Aleck and Kenna couldn’t be denied. But sometimes even being a Navy SEAL wasn’t enough to keep those he loved out of danger.

Reading a Susan Stoker book has never disappointed me. And let me tell you, this book continues to make me want any book that is written by Susan.

Welcome to Marshall "Aleck" and Kenna's story. If you want to read a blossoming love story with a quirky beginning of their love story, this book is for you.

What are you in for? An amazing story that has two different people from two different social classes learning that they have more in common than either of knew. It ready for a couple finding each other, well written dialogue between friends and lovers, and a hot, strong, protective alpha Navy Seal find the love of of his like. Their suspenseful tale had me glued to my book. I couldn't stop reading.

Welcome back to Hawaii!!! We meet the adorable Kenna when jumps on Aleck to "save" him..lol
And so their love story begins! However it's not smooth sailing. They find things out about themselves that they never realized. Also there is danger lurking. Would it be a Susan Stoker book if there wasn't danger..lol
We also get introduced to Kenna's bff who might become more to one of our favs. Also we see a tight knit girl tribe forming. There was so much to like about this book and of course that epilogue...shame on you Susan....lol
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This feels a bit weird... but I didn't really like this one. It was OK... but just that. I didn't really like what I knew of Kenna. Didn't really feel that I got to know Marshall 'Aleck' Smart at all. Nothing really seemed to happen. I am guessing ( and hoping ) that some of this is a set-up for a future story. It is so weird... this just didn't feel like Susan Stoker's voice, it all felt like the sex was the most important aspect of the story... that felt like the bulk of the content to me. I have no problem with multiple sex scenes... but sometimes it is all little... boring?

I am looking forward to Monica's tale... the set-up felt very appealing... roll on next year.

Strong and fun

Action packed and full of humor, romance and a dash of drama. The dialogue between the team, friends, co-workers and of course Aleck and Kenna were great. The story was full of vivid descriptions and great scenes. I enjoyed seeing the rest of the team and other couples, as well as building up the anticipation for the next books that will show us the HEA for the other team guys. Theo was also in the book and I loved seeing him and learning more about him! The drama/villain was surprising, but also fitting for an October release (dv awareness). The ending shows Pid has the next story and I am intrigued by the woman who ran!

Terrific heroine! Good romance. I felt short-changed by the suspense elements. And I loved good ol' Robert! Good to see Theo again, too. ;) I enjoyed the descriptions of real Hawaii locations and landmarks. But the most compelling parts were the clues to Jag's, Pid's & Slate's upcoming stories.

Kenna & Marshall

Oh, this story made my heart happy! It is 90% relationship-based, following Kenna & Marshall as they date & get to know each other. The suspense of a "bad guy" is there, but more back burner than in the majority of Stoker stories.

I adore her brand of suspense, but this couple needed something slightly different, and it was delivered! Plus, the future book set ups were, as usual, on point!!

Marshall (aka Aleck) & Kenna fit well together, are a strong & steamy couple, & their story just... Made me happy!!

Kenna is horrid, she swears and calls people names a LOT, and it’s boring!

Wow! Note to self: Never ignore all the reviews about a book again! I’m very sorry to all the ladies who reviewed this book and I ignored them. It’s terrible!!! I read the books out of order as I didn’t fancy this one and book four is really good. The first is good, the second is terrible, and so is this!

Kenna meets Marshall when she thinks he’s drowning, and jumps in to rescue him. When he turns up at the bar/ restaurant where she works as a waitress, he’s quite judgemental about her working as just a waitress. They get past that, and start dating but he doesn’t tell her he’s rich, or where he lives. When they ‘sneak’ onto the private beach where he lives, he panics about telling her, but then she goes on a rant about rich people and she’s really judgmental about them. So he doesn’t say anything. When she finds out from Lexi that he’s a millionaire, she feels really hurt and betrayed. Marshall talks to her and explains why he didn’t say and they move past it. Yawn…. I’m so bored….

The major problem I had with this book is Kenna. I couldn’t stand her character!! She gave up being an accountant as she didn’t enjoy it. But she judges people who have careers and assesses them as not being nice before she even knows them. Yet she likes to ‘sneak’ onto their private beaches while she’s calling them for having it! She swears a lot, and calls horrid women b….hes and the c word that I hate, constantly. Marshall is slightly better. But he makes judgments about people because of a money grabber in his past. He assumes women will only want his money. He finds it strange that someone would walk away from being an accountant to ‘just’ a waitress.

If you’re wondering why this review is boring, it’s because IT IS BORING!! I’m over halfway through and nothing is happening! They go out on dates, and talk a lot, but that’s it! No danger, no chemistry, just boring. I’m thinking that I need to read a different author. Which is a shame as I usually love her books.

"If a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing well. If it’s worth having, it’s worth waiting for. If it’s worth attaining, it’s worth fighting for. And if it’s worth experiencing, it’s worth putting aside time for."

It was painful to get through this book. I didn't like the characters. I found Kenna to be hypocritical. She criticizes people who look down on her for loving her waitressing job while she does the same to people who have money, especially when she enjoys the perks of Aleck living at Coral Springs. On the other hand, I felt like Aleck was catering to Kenna's likes and dislikes instead of having a personality of his own. That made me feel distant with his character and I felt like that made his character weaker than it should have been. I didn't feel like either of them were mature considering their ages. To be honest, I didn't feel any chemistry between Kenna and Aleck beyond the surface level. I feel like they were physically attracted to each other, but it wasn't anything more than that. I cringed at almost all of the more intimate scenes. I felt like it was over dramatized, which made it uncomfortable to read. The ending with Shawn's rage at Duke's added a layer of drama and conflict to the story. However, I feel like it was misplaced. I felt like Shawn's rage would have fit better with Carly's story. Overall, I was disappointed with this book. I loved the first book, but I feel like as the series goes on, each story has gotten progressively worse. In Finding Elodie, I felt like both Elodie and Mustang were strong female and male lead characters, which made me feel invested in their story and made me excited to continue this series, but that strength got lost as the series went on. To be honest, I don't know if I want to continue with this series...

An intensely sweet story

Oh I loved this one Aleck and all the guys on this team are big sweethearts lol but Aleck is extra sappy behind that rough and tumble exterior.
Got to say I love Aleck’s different personas all SEAL when he’s on the job, best mate to his friends off the job and sappy sweetheart with Kenna.
Their meet cute was funny and awesome.
Kenna is my kind of gal, independent and sweet, loyal and strong and still melts and leans on the right man when she finds him.
A great plot that will wind through Jag’s story as well it was thrilling and entertaining to read and as always went way to quick…lol

I liked that there wasn't a lot of drama in this one for the couple to go through. For the most part it was Kenna and Marshall getting to know each other and dealing with their own issues of money/status. The little drama came from outside sources and people they were trying to help. While things got very out of control at the end, it didn't last long and made Kenna and Marshal realize they were it for each other, nothing else mattered.

I also really liked how all the women were when the guys got deployed. The way that they talked and supported each other was great, as were the text messages when the guys got back.

loved!

Another amazing story!! Loved Marshall(Alex). He was dominant, slightly bossy but such a sweetheart and so loving to Kenna. I liked her a lot but honestly some of the things she said annoyed me sometimes. Like her one liner after all the craziness. Like really that’s what you say to your loved one after being held at gunpoint and almost blown up. No. Not ok. Even if joking. Idk. She wasn’t my favorite as much as the others. Loved that we saw baker and that there were honorable mentions of dude and Tex lol. Can’t wait for pids book.

Trying to save a man from drowning is unique way to meet someone but then finding out he's a SEAL and was observing his teammates underwater gives embarrassment a whole new meaning. However, Kenna Madigan's attempted good deed earns her the admiration of her "victim" Marshall "Aleck" Smart which leads to a date with that gorgeous man. These two just click. Getting to know one another through lots of texts, late night phone calls and low key dates puts these two on a relationship path pretty quickly. Kenna is one to always do the right thing. As a result she's being threatened and Marshall's protective instincts kick into high gear. Keeping her safe is imperative but even more significant he's falling hard and fast. She's right there with him.

bello!!!!

Very sweet story! Almost cavity inducing.

I really liked Kenna and Marshalls relationship but I wish we could have gotten to see their meeting happen vs it being off page. This was way more romance heavy than suspense, but sometimes I enjoy a low angst light easy and enjoyable read.

I for sure want to check out the next book in this series and more from Susan Stoker.

Kenna thought he was drowning when she jumped into the water to save him only to find out that he’s a navy seal supervising his friends who were underwater.

She impressed and intrigued Aleck. She risked her life when she jumped without thinking trying to save him.

0862-E235-D444-47-E1-A31-D-2710-FF3-D7-A7-A

Embarrassed about what happened, she accepted Aleck’s offer to take her out, but she told him to come to Duke. Thinking that Aleck would feel cheated, that she invited him to where she worked and decide to never see her again. But Aleck wanted to know her more. After all the embarrassing things that happened, they still wanted to be with each other.

84-A51-CD4-D1-B1-4518-85-AB-85448-C7-B9-F32

They were happy with their lives until the notes started showing. Not only to them but to some of their friends too.

I loved how these two met. It’s the cutest one after Falling for the Delta. It was sweet watching the two of them get closer. They are the opposite of each other, but they fit. It’s also great to see the other characters and the promising stories to come.

6159-C14-C-05-E9-4174-8-BC4-3-F50813-C291-F

I felt embarrassed with them at a few scenes, lol. Also, I don’t know why but sometimes Kenna annoyed me, then Carly sit her friend straight. This book almost has a different vibe to it than the other ones. The series started with intense openings to each book, and then this one felt like a breath of fresh air. It was awesome.

B9-F3-DF41-CC8-C-48-E2-BA7-B-EE63-E06-C3622

I’m only giving it a four because I kinda guessed what will happen, but I still enjoyed it.

Susan Stoker never disappoints.

From there hilarious meet cute I absolutely adored these two!!

Compared too many other Susan Stoker books 'Finding Kenna' may be lower in suspense and action but damn it was high in the romance, swoon, alpha ness, and steam. It is a more relationship based story that follows Kenna and Marshall 'Aleck' as they get to know each, jump a few hurdles, deal with some drama-rama, and of course get a HEA. And as always I absolutely love these men and there fierce alpha-ness and protective camaraderie amongst themselves.

And once again one of the queen of cliffhangers has left me desperate and excited for the next book in the series!!!!

Lexie travaille dans une formidable O.N.G, nommée Food For All.

« Lexie Greene devait mourir.

I tried really hard to like this book but it just wasn't happening. It seems like the author's writing has gotten worse with each book.

I felt there was zero chemistry between the characters. The dialogue was almost like it was for middle school students. The action was anticlimactic at best. I wish I had not spent money for the book...would love to return and get my $$ back.

Not the usual Stoker book

I’m a big fan of Ms Stoker but I did not enjoy this particular book. It almost seemed as if someone else had written it. It was slow going almost didn’t finish it. Nothing really got going until over 75% into the book. It seemed very disjointed and no flow into what little action scene there was. Their chemistry wasn’t there for me.

different from the first two books in the series, but still an enjoyable read.

"Finding Kenna", is book three in Susan Stoker's SEAL Team Hawaii series. One of the things I have come to count on Susan Stoker for is that her very HOT romances are more than page after page of erotic sex. Susan Stoker is a consummate storyteller, who writes stories that are as much an edge-of-your-seat adventure as they are a romance. Her heroes are usually the best of the best of their military branches. Men who are strong, Alpha males with "don't mess with me attitudes" and a sense of Honor that is soul deep. However, their soul-mates are females, who may have a soft feminine exterior but the heart and strength of a warrior.

So, I was surprised to find that book 3 of her Hawaii Seals series did not start with some kind of "heart in your throat" rescue mission but instead involved a meet-cute, like you would expect in a Rom-com. Not that there is anything wrong with a Rom-com! It was only that I didn't expect it! Though, once I thought about it, a story involving, Marshall Smart, who the team nicknames Aleck, (for obvious reasons), could only start with some hilarious misunderstanding between to the two protagonists! And loveable but clumsy, Kenna, who comes from a completely different social background than Aleck, is a perfect counterpoint for our hero. Most of the action in "Finding Kenna" involves the two main characters exploring and coming to terms with their different mindsets. Though there is the usual rescue from the evil villian action, late in the book. Even then, Kenna proves that the women who can live with the Navy's elite sailors, are no damsel in distress, but strong-minded independent women, able to take care of themselves, but appreciate the help their heroes give.

Overall, "Finding Kenna" was different from the first two books in the series, but still an enjoyable read. If the epilogue is any indication, (another standard feature of Susan Stoker), book four of the series, is going to be just as fun to read! I can't wait to get started!

Alright, this book was miles better than the second one. I would say that this one would be on par with the first book in the series. I actually really enjoyed the main character in this installment, Kenna, and how she held herself. One of the first things that she did actually made me laugh out loud and I don’t know if I’d done that before with this romance series. She essentially made a fool of herself, but Aleck didn’t make her feel stupid, he was just interested right from the get go.

I will say that’s another reason why I like this series so much, the guys are instantly interested in the main characters and while they have their own personalities, much of who they are is wanted to date the heroines of the story. It’s actually kind of funny, because the books take place one right after the other and each member of the seal team finds the woman they’re going to marry and be with for the rest of their lives in what seems like 2-5 month intervals.

This one was really sweet and heartwarming, especially because the communication between the two love interests was very healthy and they each knew what the other wanted in a relationship and the climax was WILD. Also, Kenna is a badass. She had literally no problems standing up for her friend against her crazy ex and was ready to throw down for her at the drop of a hat. The other love interests in this series were badass in their own way, but Kenna was ready to get physical with the ones who were threatening her friends, and I was here for it.

This installment of the series was up there with the first one, I really liked the plot line and both of the main characters. I didn’t find the guy that insufferable either like I did Midas. It was short, sweet, and spicy at the right time.

Definitely recommend this one, Happy Reading!!

I liked how this started and how these two met, it shows that Kenna has a passion for people and I liked that Aleck realizes it.

I really didn't like her attitude towards people with money, and I'm glad that her friend calls her out on it as a soon as she does so that Kenna can move past it. When I think on this story this is really where my brain gets stuck, that she is a reverse snob but , she spends most of the second half of the story, learning to be better and changing her way of thinking. I did like her friendship with his front desk guy.

I did like Lexi and Elodie "helping" Kenna with a bitchy customers. That was a fun scene to read and I wish there had been a few more interactions with them. Though they did have the drunken girls night.

I did like that Kenna's need to help/speak up was not just the one time with Aleck, that she does it more in the story, though she may need to find a better way, since it nearly always gets her into trouble. But I did like the end and her ability to move the situation away from the most damage area, that she was able to get away without help

This also is the start of Finding Carly. Carly and Jag meet here and then we see the drama with her ex and how Jag is supporting her.

I am really curious about the end of this book/start of the next and who the military guy might be.

Finding Kenna: SEAL Team Hawaii Book 3 is by Susan Stoker. This book is set in my favorite place, Hawaii. SEAL teams are based here at the bases; but off duty could be found around the island.
Kenna was running along the Ala Moana Park by Magic Island Lagoon when she saw a man floating face down in the water. She immediately went into rescue mode and almost landed on top of him. Embarrassed, she found out he was a SEAL and had been watching over the other men of his division who were swimming below. He was never in any danger of drowning. When he asked to see her again, she invited him to meet her at Duke’s. She knew she would be safe there.
After taking a ribbing from her friends at work, she set out doing her job; but watching for Marshall. He showed up with his friends and their lovely companions. Kenna liked Elodie and Lexi from the start. Soon they were having a great time.
Carly, her waitress friend, had broken up with Shawn. He was refusing to accept it and came to the restaurant and started in on her. Kenna stepped in to help her and Shawn turned on her. Swiftly, the Seals had him down waiting for the police in seconds. Shawn kept threatening Carly and Kenna as the police took him away. What could possibly happen with Shawn in jail?
