Rate this book
A fairytale retelling set in 1920s Milan.

Chiara Campanelli has created her life with talent, had work – and deceit. But she has buried that truth deep down and long ago. Nobody knows it now but the fiery eyes that look at her every time she looks into a mirror.

On 24 March 1921, Chiara is at the Teatro Diana in Milan when the bomb goes off.

That explosion shakes her and her world that mercilessly let the props of her life fall down and Chiara comes naked to the rendezvous with that blazing gaze.

Born and raised in Verona (Italy), I've always lived to surround myself with books, so it may be a sort of karma that I ended up being a bookseller and an indie author. A fantasy reader since a kid, a Tolkien nerd almost as long, I've always being fascinated with history and old black-and-white mystery films, which may or may not have had a way in my involvement in the dieselpunk community. "Ghosts Through the Cracks" is my first publish novella. I'm currently working at more historical fantasy stories set in the 1920s.

Sea Phantom by Sarah Zama
This book was sent to me as an Advance Reader Copy against an honest and fair review.

It was my first attempt at a novel from Sarah Zama. Although not a real fan of short novels, I have been caught from the beginning by this story as well as the atmosphere of the book, a bit like with an adventure or Thriller film where you start feeling something is going to happen… When the story started to unfurl it proved very difficult to let the book go…

It is definitely a book worth reading, the fates of Chiara, or is it Emma and Ondina give a very special favor this novel which keeps its mystery until the end.
The fact that the author succeeded creating a catching, believable story and an enticing novel in such a short time of reading is really to be praised.

Una storia molto interessante e ben scritta che viaggia sulle ali di due diversi piani temporali. Ho apprezzato lo stile, molto pulito, dell’autrice e la sorpresa finale. Assolutamente non scontato.

A mix of fantasy and paranormal with world war II terrorist action and related horrific consequences, the story is very well written and masterfully related by the author. The lead character appears to be in a daze following a traumatic experience and previous experiences that come crashing down on her.
4 STARS as it did not virtually take me on site where the action takes place.

Very interesting. a little strange. The flashbacks were confusing at first. I wanted dingbats to separate them, but after the first one the name changes let them stand out. This is listed as a Little Mermaid story, but the intriguing thing is that it isn't really about the mermaid.

The Sea Phantom by Sarah Zama is a spellbinding story of loss and rebirth. It is the story of a young girl who has a longing for the sea and its songs. She is given a wonderful gift but betrays the gifter. As she grows, she realizes she has been living a life that was not her own. She is forced to confront herself and return to who she really is.

One mark of a great story is that it stays with you and keeps you thinking and revisiting it even after you are finished reading. This is such a story! I find myself thinking about it days later. I know that after a sufficient period of time, I will reread it and grow some more.

I most highly recommend The Sea Phantom by Sarah Zama.
