Their human is hiding a dangerous secret. As the supply of nectar on Anteros is threatened, the atrocities and greed escalate.
Emmie, held in the castle, has a future that looks very…short. Until a violent encounter in a dark cell changes everything. Now she has a life-threatening secret to protect—no matter the cost.
Brothers Dev and Garet are trying to cope with the death of their mate. They’ve been ordered to return to soldiering, but can’t afford to trust anyone else with the care of their three children. They have their own secrets to guard.
When Emmie is thrust into their lives and then sneaks into their hearts, is she the solution to their problems, or a dangerous risk to their family? No matter how many times she promises obedience, they know she’s hiding something.
And as human women all around them continue to suffer, will Emmie’s secret be the answer to their cries of despair?
You will laugh, cry, and love this final chapter of the Nectar for the Gods trilogy, with strict alien mates, suspense, and a fight for human survival.
This book has a mature theme, and plenty of trigger warnings.
Sophie Kisker started composing dark stories of love and capture long ago, but it wasn't until she met others on the internet that she realized she wasn't alone. Her stories are sometimes dark and uncomfortable, but they will always have a happy ending.
During the day, Sophie is busy with job and family, but in the evening, her laptop comes out, her imagination gets going, and she morphs into a recluse who would be happy living in a cave, as long as it had wireless internet and an espresso machine.
Sophie Kisker’s Nectar for the Gods really is a wonderful series, and i loved each and every story. Knowing Given is the last, knowing i have to say goodbye, makes me sad. But having read Given,i know everyone is in the place they want to be. Everyone is happy, life is good, evil has been defeated. Yes,the road to that happiness was long and hard won,but the rewards are great and well-deserved.
Emmie has had a very rough life as a nectar slave in the king’s castle, and she’s ready to give up. To have her life ended, one way or another. But when she’s thrown into a dark cell for reasons unknown and raped,a different path is set out for her. The man that raped her is shot, and she gets injured in the proces, leaving her with a wound on her leg that doesn’t heal. She ends up being given away by the king as part of a bet in a game of cards to major Drakke. He takes her to the barracks, and since the wound means soldiers don’t want her nectar, she ends up being raped by them. Until Drakke decides to give her to two of his soldiers that lost their mate Merila…..
Dev and Garet were at their wits end. Not only had their mate died, but she’d left them with their three children. Meaning one of them had to stay at home and care for the twin boys,Jast and Miko, and the youngest, their daughter,Sera. Receiving a gift from their major should be welcome, but could they trust this little human slave,Emmie?
The long road to trust between these three was rough, and filled with hurdles. Secrets should’ve been shared, but fear stood in the way. Punishment was doled out eagerly, but a little understanding would’ve made a big difference. All of the stories in this series had their troubles, their misunderstandings. But in Given, the solution is not the same… Sure, all the Anterrin men loved to punish their little humans, but in the previous stories they moved forward faster than they did in Given. And Emmie could’ve used her men to do that….it would’ve prevented unnecessary suffering for her!!
I ám very happy with the end result, though! Emmie díd get not only two loving mates, but a family she could call her own as well.
The last and longest book in the series, this book finishes the arc with the nectar slaves revolt against the tyrannical king, Acestes. Characters from the previous books appear in this book and I felt like they were old friends. This is the most domestic of the books, focusing on an already-established Anterrin family, and I really liked seeing that element of this fascinating world. As with the previous books, the heroine of this story, Emmie, has been snatched from Earth and made a nectar slave. However, the portals to Earth have been closed and the king is now looking at consolidating his hold on the existing nectar slaves. They're being hunted and bred, and that's how Emmie's story begins, with a forced breeding. Emmie's life goes down-hill from there. She's injured, in a spot that Anterrin men find particularly disfiguring for nectar slaves, and gets passed out of the king's harem, eventually ending up as "reward" for soldiers. Those scenes are hard to read, but are important for the story, because that's where Emmie initially meets one of the heroes, Garet. Garet and his twin, Dev, are mourning the loss of their mate. They're trying to hold their family together, and care for their three children, who are suffering from the same illness that took their mate. Their grief felt very real, and the scene where they release their mate's "essence" is one of the most beautiful of the series. Both Garet and Dev find solace in Emmie, and their bonding was heart-warming. However, given Emmie's horrific treatment before she's given to them as a domestic servant, their power-exchange felt particularly harsh. Although Garet and Dev recognise in passing that Emmie may be traumatised from the multiple rapes she's endured, they don't really do anything to help her recover or feel safe. They make it clear that their family comes first and that Emmie is just a slave. Although their devotion to their children is understandable, it fosters distrust between the three of them and when Emmie's secrets are revealed, their punishments felt disproportionate and cruel. I had trouble liking Garet and Dev, particularly in contrast to Kirin and Damek in the previous book. As things escalate and it becomes clear that Emmie will have to flee Raelia, they had an obvious way to protect her but chose not to take it for what felt to me like selfish reasons. As with previous books, the author does a great job of ratcheting up the tension, and by the time of the climactic confrontation, my heart was palpitating for poor Emmie. The climax was extremely satisfactory; Emmie's return to Garet and Dev somewhat less so because I didn't feel they really deserved her, but it was nice to see her get her HEA. A very satisfactory conclusion to a great series.
Emmie has been given to Dev and Garet from their commanding officer, Drakke who had won her from the king/ruler. The Anterrins are large darker skinned than humans and the males get a "high" from sipping human female's nectar. Dev and Garet are widowed and have three children to care for. Drakke said Emmie could take care of the kids so both brothers could get back to duty together. Emmie has a secret that will soon affect the whole family and get her punished for not trusting her men who have slowly come to care for her. The spirit of their deceased wife communicates with Emmie on occasion but no one hears it but Emmie. There is a lot of tension around the Anterrins who have to protect their family while also hunting for escaped Nectar Slaves. The two leaders are brothers but on different sides of ruling. The sex is often enough and steamy enough to keep my interest while the Main Ruler is a brutal and abusive leader, his brother is a spiritual man of peace. Everyone must go through many different emotions and confusion as they all try to make their family life and new found love and affection work. I simplified my review to help you understand some of what Emmie, Garet and Dev are dealing with but honestly, you should read it for yourself. There are many times when you will feel defeat and others where hope comes to help the story along. I will tell you that there is a HEA.
Oh no, this is it! With this, sadly, last of the stories from Anteros, Ms Kisker has ramped up the horror, the pain and hopelessness of the Earth women forced into slavery on this planet. But she also makes it very clear that there is honor, love and devotion among Anterrin males. The way she weaves together pain and ecstasy becomes a tangible reality. Some parts of this book brought me to tears of rage, others of joy. As in all her books of this series the author again delivers a satisfying HEA and one, more than satisfying, "demise"! All the people we met from the first book on are included in the final festivities, celebrating not just their personal happiness but also sweeping changes on Anteros. I will miss reading about this version of Earth.
If you like your alien abduction stories with a touch of darkness that ends with a happily ever after, then look no further than the Nectar for the Gods series, where each story is a relative standalone. I say relative because there’s a story arch that covers all four books in this series and while you can read the first three in any order, you really do want to save “Given” for last. In it, we get Emmie, Dev and Garet’s story and it’s soooo good. Once again, I ignored work in favor of my Kindle and quickly ate up the pages. In fact, I burned through more than 50% of the story while sitting in a waiting room at a doctor’s office and thankfully, I have a pretty good poker face AND I was sitting in a corner. Otherwise, everyone would have known what I was reading because it’s that hot.
Sophie Kisker’s “Given” gave me a major case of the feels as I went on a roller coaster ride of emotions ranging from the hot and bothered to muttering insults about a certain king and queen to everything in between. Now, I know I said this about “Saved”, but Ms. Kisker outdid herself with this story and it’s now my favorite. And it will stay that was as, I believe, it’s the last one in this series. Unless she decides to give us some holidayish/update stories (*looks hopeful).
This is the last book in the Nectar of the Gods series, and it kind of makes me mad and sad that it is, mostly because I so love this world and these books and I want more stories. OTOH, I can also be happy that this was a good place to end it and a good way to end it, so that is very satisfying. Is there a way to be happy, satisfied, mad, and sad? If so, that's what I am.
I think that Emmie is a strong and incredible character. She has withstood so much pain, terror, and heartbreak, but she still manages to be a caring, loving person who has so much to give. I think that she proves so much to herself, let alone to Dev and Garet.
Dev and Garet are so broken on their own, trying to get figure out how to get through, but are just floundering. It's hard for them to figure out what they need to do and how to do it. They never expected anything like Emmie, but she was definitely exactly what they needed. And they were what she needed.
I think that this book was everything. The overall story of the series kept me engrossed, and I definitely wanted to know what was coming next. And this was really the perfect end to it.
I think I have to go reread the entire series all at once.
This book contains dark elements, so it might not be for everyone, but if you love reading about new worlds and don’t mind a bit of dark, then this is the book for you.
What I loved about this book is the richness of the worldbuilding and I really loved the house. I wish I had a self cleaning and does the shopping for me house.
In this story we follow Emmie who is being dropped at Dev and Garet's house. Emmie hasn’t know any kindness since being trapped on Anteros and Dev and Garet are still dealing with the grief of losing their mate. And then there are secrets. Not just Emmie is holding one, but Dev and Garte have secrets to. there are lots of emotions in this book. sadness, grief, love and hope.
All the while the situation on Anteros is getting to a boiling point. Will humans ever be free and safe? You have to read to find out.
Get ready for a heart-pounding ride. All good things must come to an end which definitely applies to this series. We have watched the tension build to the point where Emmie, Garet, and Dev have a pivotal role in changing the future direction of this world while going through major life changes of their own. I really felt the emotions in this one, getting teary, cringing, yelling at my Kindle, and melting at the chemistry between this family. I was totally invested in the outcome and felt the tension, not able to put it down as I just had to know what would come next while simultaneously fearing what was ahead! Yes, I’m sad to reach the end of the road, but I’m more than ready for the sizzling adventure this author will no doubt have in store for us next.
Ms. Kisker has a knack for writing about worlds that you you probably would never want to live in if you were a woman, but you feel completely drawn into. And Ms. Kisker definitely draws us into this book from the very first paragraph. This book is INTENSE. I was on edge for much of the book. What was going to happen to Emmie? What were Dev and Garet going to do with her... to her? I loved all of them, but really, Dev and Garet had a double standard going on. No lies, they said... but they sure lied to Emmie. (I suppose their attitude could be expected given they were Anterrin males.) So the book is edgy, dangerous, emotional, and it is also sizzling sexy. I love this world (even though it makes me bite my nails) and I’ve loved the series. A definite must read. ❤️
In this final book of the series (say it ain't so!) Ms. Kisker has saved the best for last! A sumptuous feast for your emotions, so many flavors, despair, happiness, love, lust, hope and more. Emmie, Garet and Dev's story is well written, compelling, gripping, sexual, sensual, gut wrenching, hopeful, and a joy to read! It's a bittersweet goodbye, but the journey and the destination were worth every, tear, sigh, shiver of lust, love and hate, anger and joy felt for the characters we met along the way
This series has been a fantastic time well spent. I fell in love with the first book and Sophie kept me hooked the entire time. Sure it didn’t hurt that the sex was hot and the punishments were even hotter. But just the whole world that Sophie created and shared was amazing. This story will make you cry (it did me) and it will be a bittersweet goodbye at the end cause this is the last book in the series. If you have read the other books in this series, this one will not disappoint you. Thank you Sophie for writing this series, it has been a fantastic journey.
Ok, so I am so very sorry that you felt it necessary to put your warning out that some would be offended!!!! I mean we should all quote the holy books or Dickens and stay happy and clean, Right?????
WRONG! There are warnings available on every book and if a reader is too intellectually challenged to abide by said Warning, then said reader needs to soak his or her head!!
Was this book different? Yes. Did it have "dark" storylines? Yes!!!! Was it incredibly well written? Yes!! For those who want to explore dark things from the safety of their beds was it perfect? Yes!!! People, if no one is in danger of truly being harmed, mind your own dang business and read what will give You pleasure!!! Do not try to judge the author or other readers by what gives them pleasure!!
I served this country in part because I do believe in freedom of speech. Please remember that, that same freedom gives you the ability to act like a complete as*$#@t in front of millions. Clean up your side of the street and I will worry about mine. Live and let live as long as no one is harmed. Blaming an author because you didn't follow a warning is harmful! That makes You the one who is the perpetrator of harm !!
A very wise person said " better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.!'
Thanks Sophie for another wonderful book. I loved the addition of the family! What a great twist! Do I want to move to that planet? Oh heck no! Would I refuse two dominant brothers who wanted to stay here and play awhile.......oops, gotta go! That idea is going to be my catalyst for marvelous dreams!! Good night all!
