With Mandy the haunted doll now safely ensconced in Mason Town Museum, sealed in a glass case, Shady Groves and her colleagues, Annie and Ray, can relax. After a fashion. The small-town museum they run is not like others, it's a place that seeks to contain and understand artifacts and relics charged with negative energy. Their aim is to gradually reduce how potent that energy can be, and the destruction it can lead to.
All is well, until Shady chances upon a mirror in a thrift store. The reflection staring back at her is not quite her own. The artifact is purchased and brought back to the museum, where, under controlled circumstances, they begin to explore its history.
A girl, a woman, appears to be the previous owner. One who is troubled, who swings between emotions like some wild pendulum. As more is revealed, Shady follows her down each dark avenue, finally uncovering an involvement in one of the most shocking episodes of American history. Appalled, she refuses to continue.
But, as Shady, Annie and Ray know, sometimes there's no turning back.

Shady, Annie and Ray are back, in this the second novel in this series. After investigating Mandy, the doll, in book one, mirrors are the focal point in this story. Mirrors that are able to show Shady all the hate, loathing and despair felt by one woman through the early years of her life.
This is another fantastic offering from Shani, with her trademark supernatural investigations, explorations of the past and suspense. The story is really interesting and makes you think about people in the world who have been abandoned, like Joan, and how such negative and powerful emotions can build up in people and never leave them.
Back in the saddle with Shady Groves and the house of mirrors. As always with Shani's books, I was completely hooked to this story and it certainly doesn't disappoint in anyway. I love how everything is explained and the whole thing makes sense by the end. Also loved the inclusion of the possible connection to actual history with the Manson family. As always absolutely brilliant. Well done.
Shady, Ray, Annie and the new girl, who secretly Ray has a very soft spot for, spend their time looking into mirrors of all shapes and sizes. It is only Shady though that can see the sort of life the mirror has had. The more she looks, the more she sees, and it is dark and deep and ugly. Annie and Ray are by her side, but not always able to assist her when the mirrors start to haul Shady in to their shadows. A very enjoyable book with mentions of the previous book Mandy, so if the reader perchance hasn't read that book, there is some insight there to join it to Cades Home Farm. Does Ray get the girl? You will have to read the book to find the answer to that. Will there be a third book I wonder!!
When Shady is drawn to an old mirror in a store Annie buys it and brings it to the museum. Soon Shady finds herself trying to find who the mirror belonged to as she sees visions of the previous owner. I thoroughly enjoyed Mandy the first book in the Reach for the Dead series, but Cades Home Farm is even better. The recurring characters are stronger than previously and the story gripping. I read the book in two sittings as I was so engrossed in it. I look forward to reading more about Shady, Ray and Annie when the next book in the series comes out. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this book. Once again it’s beautifully written which is what I’ve come to expect from this talented author. I also love the way she adds in intriguing and interesting research and blends effortlessly fact and fiction. The story and the characters kept my interest from the first page right until the last with various twists and turns. There are always layers to this authors storylines which work so well and elevate it from purely a supernatural based tale to something else entirely. Once again another five well deserved stars
I was so so so excited ta find out there WAS, a sequel! If U like me, loved the first book, then U my friend's are going ta LoVe this one as well! So sit back n get all nice n comfy, cuz once ya start, ya can't or won't stop! The exciting new adventure with my fave trio are back at it again! Now with an additional new face, Lisa Marie! Now if there was another one n the making, by the way this one ended,....we shall see! God I really really hope so, I'm as they say,...HOOKED! Lol
Not a gripping read but after a slow start there are spurts of action.
This 2nd book in the series follows on with Shady, Annie and Ray dealing with possessed mirrors that bring havoc to those who look into them.
The story is quite slow and takes a good while to get going. As to why it is entitled 'Cades Home Farm' is a bit of a puzzle because you don't hear of the place until over 80% of the way through!
I like Shani Struthers and have thoroughly enjoyed some of her books but I'm not really sure about this series.
Once again a great read from Shani struthers love this book Shady is drawn to an old mirror in a store Annie buys it and brings it to the museum. Shady finds herself trying to find who the mirror belonged to, in a supermarket with her mum she sees a woman she thinks it part of the story, but as she try’s to follow her and calls out the woman get knocked down by a car is taken to hospital, shady goes hospital to see if she can find out more she does just that after some time. Very gripping story love reading it love reading the books with shady and ray and Annie in such good reads
Shani Struthers has done it again, with another excellent story of the supernatural. A haunted mirror, or series of them to be more accurate, linking an extremely sad individual to the sins of her past. Life in 1960s America, hippy cults and (maybe) even life with Charles Manson, resonating over the decades and continuing to poison lives through the medium of mirrors. An excellent and thought provoking story.
In this, the second book in the Reach for the Dead series, we continue to follow the main characters from the previous book as they collect and try to figure out haunted objects. I found this one a little harder to get into than the first. While the characters were good and well written the object in question this time ( a mirror) and it's backstory just didn't have the same impact as the first book.
I've followed this Author for sometime and eagerly look forward to her books and this latest one hasnt disappointed. This is the 2nd book in this series and it's nice to see the development of the characters but as always they can be read as stand alone books
I have read every one of Shani’s books and have loved them all. She writes so descriptively that I become so embroiled in the story I lose track of time and everything around me. This is another fantastic journey into the paranormal world which holds so much fascination for me. Can’t wait for the next book!
A brilliant take on the haunted-mirror concept. Bringing together old and familiar lore to create something entirely new, Struthers reflects how true horror is found among the living more than the dead.
Another belting good read from Shani Struthers. I’m a complete addict for her books, avidly scouring social media for her new ones. This definitely doesn’t disappoint and has seen me through illness and lockdown. A well deserved 5*s.
Once again Shani has created a story that is unusual and beautifully written. I think I have read everyone of her previous books and enjoyed them all. She one of my top five favourite authors.
Her books are a delight to read and this one was one of her best yet.
I really enjoyed the concept of this book, and the continuation from the first in the series. A little drawn out for me, but on the whole a great read and recommended. I'm looking forward to reading more of Shani's books.
I really enjoy Shani Struthers' writing. This particular series characters were easily likeable, and the storyline kept me guessing. Hoping there will be a book 3!
As always another very good book from this author. Gripping, compelling and easy to read. A real page turner as very deserving of all five of this stars
