Can’t Get Here from There contains travel tales from over forty countries spread across five continents. From a birthday weekend spent in Paris with no money or passport to a camel-jacking in Cairo and being smuggled across a checkpoint in Bolivia, these tales offer exotic locations and out of the ordinary experiences. Some experiences go more smoothly than others.
I love the revised edition of this book. Well edited, and with lots of photos. Each chapter is an enticing tidbit from the author's travels - this is not a travel guide, but more an amuse-bouche, to whet the appetite, and give an amusing or interesting snippet of the author's experience of a particular place. It's also an easy book to dip into if you only have a few minutes to read. I really enjoyed it, and definitely recommend it.
Travel with Jeremiah through fifty wonderful travel tales from forty two countries on five continents. It’s fascinating reading his interesting adventures and experiences across the globe. And yes there’s salt in the sea! The time period covered is from Tibet in July 2006 to February 2020. When Covid hits Jeremiah’s Chinese wife happens to be…of all the places, yes of course she is…in China! A snapshot of travel and life around the world. Highly recommend.
“Can’t Get Here from There” is a collection of short tales from travel adventures to different countries made by the author and sometimes accompanied by his wife. In this updated version the author has added vibrant photographs at the beginning of each tale, which really helped to bring them to life. Each story is very short and can easily be read during a tea break, or while waiting for an appointment. They are entertaining and witty but are not in depth guides to the places he visits - this is not a guide book, but rather a collection of experiences, rather like a journal or travel diary entries.
