Maura MacGregor is running the local Hotel Motel and battling her brother's "creative" talents. She is however distracted by the sound of drums and when she follows the sound,, she encounters Curtis, a damphir, who has just defeated a vampire.
Initially I was concerned that I would not like this book as much as the previous ones, as the initial action between Maura and Curtis takes place away from the rest of the MacGregor family and the hijinks that normally ensues with them. I need not have worried, soon the rest of the family steps up to help Maura and Curtis with their usual flair.
What did come across in this book were the strong women that took the lead, this applied to not just Maura but also her mother.

Impossible to put down

A race against time, trips into the post Civil War Mississipi, a great love story that transcends everything. When I say that the book is impossible to put down, I mean it (and rue the time I had to devote to real life and sleep because I only wanted to read and read some more until the end).

I knew that there was more than met the eye with Curtis Jefferson (whom we have met, albeit briefly, in previous books), but this was way beyond what I thought about the dhampir who owns the Crimson Tavern (who makes the best tater tot nachos in all of Green Vallis), a place that the MacGregors love to visit when hunger strikes them. His falling deeply in love with Maura MacGregor, motel owner in this time, is the icing on the cake. She is one special lady indeed!

With Warlocks, a dhampir, ghosts, and vampires, this combines to make of Night Magick the darkest book of the series, with compelling action, yes, but also with laughs and mischief (it's the Warlocks MacGregor, after all), fear, heat, and a lot of love. Talking about the MacGregors and special, I knew that Raibeart was also more than the crazy uncle who likes to run around naked in town when he's had a little too much to drink!

I would give more than five stars if I could, because it really is all that!

Morna is running the Hotel Motel with her brother Bruce and he has a problem with painting inappropriate pictures all over the motel rooms and losing customers, but this particular family the mother is very upset because there are 3 naked ladies on the wall in their room and the mother demands her husband come with her and the children and she is very upset because before they can get in the car Uncle Raibeart comes streaking across the parking lot. Once they are gone she walks to the end of the walkway and looks out she knows something is not right and she doesn't know what it is but she ends up in the woods. Curtis Jackson left Mississippi to start his own restaurant he is half-vampire and he keeps to himself but the McGregors like the nachos and they come in a lot he knows they have supernatural powers so he keeps to himself and he is not happy when he is outback and Virgile his grandfather's henchman steps up to him he wants to know why his grandfather doesn't know where he is he drags Curtis to the woods and then attacks him and Curtis grabs a piece of wood and sticks it right in the old vampire's chest. Even though he is hurt he can still stand and talk but not for long after he meets Morna he passes out and Morna hears marching confederate .vampire soldiers and sees them coming toward them and all she can try to do is protect Curtis. A very intriguing storyline and the characters are engrossing that will keep you reading until the end. Drama, suspense, time travel, action-adventure, danger, magic, and love. WOW! Another excellent MacGregor story!

An amazing story that isn't even hinted at in the blurb for the book. Maura (Cait's daughter and Rory's sister) gets her turn to find love all the while dealing with her brothers and cousins. The MacGergor family dynamics keep me coming back to this series. The bantering, the practical jokes, the magick, and the neverending love displayed by all the MacGregors truly makes me wish I were a MacGregor.

Really fast paced and never know what was going to happen next made this a "can't put it down" read. I would really love to know exactly what Cait and Margareta did Maura and Curtis. I think the elders stories would be just as fascinating and their childrens' (and I think Jewel's story would be beyond awesome).

My favorite part of the book/books has always been Uncle Raibeart. Slightly off but always knowing what is going on and with a depth that just leaves me aching to read his story. After his part in this book, I am even more excited to read his story - and the author finally blessed us, Uncle Raibeart's story is next, but not until July of 2022 :(

Grab this whole exciting series, there is never a dull moment.

This is #9 in the Warlocks MacGregor series. It's Maura MacGregor and Curtis Jefferson's story and it's a doozie. Maura owns the Hotel Motel and she runs it with her brother Bruce. He even pulls pranks on her with how he paints her motel rooms. Curtis owns the Crimson Tavern with life changing tater tot nachos!
Maura and Curtis go through so hellish, fearful, fun & sweet times together. It's very interesting because it revolves around Curtis' past & his relatives from the 1800's. I can't say too much more or I'll start giving spoilers. It does have an... oh no! Heartbreaking moment. It also had an oh he|| no....I can't believe she just did that, moment.
It's erie with ghosts, has viscious vampires, time travel, a baby who's also a grandmother. Like I said, it's perfect for an October release. Plus it wouldn't be a MacGregor book with that silly, goofy uncle. The last chapter, not the epilogue, had me crying like a baby. Happy tears of course. Maura & Curtis have a wonderful, magickal HEA.
This book has it all. I couldn't put it down, literally. Now I anxiously await the next book, especially because it's that crazy uncle's book!
Kudos to Michelle M Pillow, you have another hit book!!! 10 out of 5 star!!

This is book 9 in Michelle M. Pillow’s MacGregor series. Maura MacGregor is another warlock in the extended MacGregor family, who has done her best to fly under the watchful eyes of the family. She has been tasked with running the family-owned motel, along with her work-challenged brother Bruce. Curtis Jefferson is the owner of the nearby Crimson Tavern, and is also a dhampir (half vampire/half human). Their story involves their meeting, time travel, and challenges all along the way. Well written, readers can enjoy this book without having read the prior ones; but this series is such a fun read, with many varied and interesting characters and situations, that they should take the time to enjoy them all. I think that all of us who have been reading this series can’t wait for Uncle Raibeart’s story. I enjoyed this look into another MacGregors life. I was given an ARC by the author through Booksprout, and this is my honest opinion.

Maura & Curtis

She's trying to run the Hotel/Motel for the family with her brother, who, like most of the male MacGregors causes more problems than works for a living. While trying to deal with not only her brother but the elder trouble-making male, she finds herself in another situation.

Take Vampires, part vamps, time travel, and a bunch more supernatural stuff things are going to get scary. She's a powerful witch but she's up against more power. Curtis was unprepared for his night visitor or why he'd come. The only good thing was meeting the beautiful Maura. Yet, would that end up being...well, the end?

The Warlock's MacGregor stories never give the reader a dull moment. When the family plays it's funny and annoying to the recipient, but when an enemy goes after one of their own--watch out.

Sit back and enjoy--I sure did.

Maura thought looking after the Hotel Motel would be a cinch but her brother is scaring off the guests with his risque murals! She's also having some funky dreams. MacGregor life is not an easy one, even with all of their millions.

Curtis has been under the radar so far. The Macgregors know he is not human but not what he is - a Dhampir. But when his great-grandads minion appears, he and Maura get pulled into the past.

I love a good time-travel romp! Curtis and Maura have a tremendous pull to each other but with his MeeMaw's life in the balance (and therefore Curtis' too) there is a lot on the line. Add in Ghost Army's, Jewel "helping" and of course Uncle Raibert causing mayhem.

I think I might need to visit Green Valley and see what the fuss is over these Tater Tot thingies!! Plenty of action, adventure, mayhem and magic.

I'm intrigued but also worried that Uncle R's book is next - has he actually found a woman who has said "Yes"????????

Maura runs the local Motel/Hotel with one of her older brothers. Most times, she wonders why she bothers with the problems she has to deal with. Customer complaints, streaking uncles, you know the norm.( her uncle not the customers)
When she starts having visions of a past that's not her own, she can't shake the feeling something ominous is coming.
Curtis is on the run from his past. In a town with supernaturals, it wouldn't be a good thing if people found out who his ancestor was. He's been found and ordered back home, by means necessary. During his escape, his injured, that's when Maura runs into him saving his life.
Now both of them are in mortal ( or immortal )danger. They must fight in the past in order to save the future!
This is the perfect story for Halloween! Witches, vamps, ghost and steam, oh my!
The twist, the turns and the ending, I didn't see that coming!
I truly loved it.

This twisty tale will quench your thirst for MacGregor Magick. Not only do we get to see some of our old favorite characters (Go uncle Raibert), but Maura and Curtis grab your heart. Then they take us on a wild ride to fight one truly evil baddie. Wow, I just couldn’t put this one down. It really grabbed my interest from the beginning. Maura and Curtis sure go through a lot in this story. But will they be able to succeed to get their HEA? Get this book to find out. All the MacGregor characters are larger than life. I simply loved this book and highly recommend it if you like magick and kilts.

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. Just one more chapter turned into the whole book. This one was a bit different (no spoilers) and I thoroughly enjoyed it because of that. Maura and Curtis are sweet together and the ending took me by surprise. Loved it! Definitely looking forward to Raibeart’s story next.

What a great addition to this series! I love how the family always plays into the story, but this book is now one of my favorites. I loved it from the beginning when Maura and Curtis first met to the unexpected ending. Add in Raibeart’s and Curtis’s antics, and it’s a fun romance with lots of drama and action. A definite must read.
