She was supposed to rescue strays, not become one.

Brook had her life together. For six years, she checked off all the right boxes: beautiful home, middle class life, and a dream job managing an animal rescue. She'd worked hard to reach those pillars of success, but there was one thing she didn't plan for.

Her husband's temper.

She thought no one noticed, but her latest court-appointed volunteer didn't miss the bruise on her arm. Ryder knew something was up, and he wouldn't rest until the beautiful woman with a heart big enough for every dog in the shelter had her own happy ending. Those were what he specialized in, after all. He just had to remind himself that he wasn't a hero. This was no different than rescuing a stray. All he had to do was follow the steps.

Step one: get her away from the abuse.
Step two: find her a safe place to live.

And that was the problem. The home he shared with his twin brother was not a safe place for her. If one man did that much damage, how much worse would it be when she was locked alone with two? Still, he and Hunter had to help, even if they had their own demons - and she was bringing them all back to the surface. This one desperate woman was about to find herself in the middle of a storm she never saw coming.

Sometimes, when it rains,
It pours.

I devoured this book in less than a day, it was that good! Convincing story, distinct, memorable and strong characters made it a great read.

Now why not 5 stars? There were a couple of things that could have been better. The very beginning had repetitive scenes where we got to see both Brook's and Ryder's views. While that was great as an idea, I was not overly happy with the execution. Just having Ryder remember the scene without the exact dialogue to repeat would have been better in my opinion. Also I would have preferred a more vague ending. Do not get me wrong, I need an explicit HEA but not necessarily in all areas. It is not possible for all the problems, including traumatic childhood experiences, to be solved over several months, and in the end it appeared as if the characters had perfect lives and no problems to face in the future. A tad unrealistic I would say.

Still this was a book that I read on KU and will purchase because the topic of domestic, especially psychological abuse, is very important and it was beautifully written. I cried with the heroine and that does not happen often.

Completely unexpected

I had not heard of or read anything by this author before, but I enjoyed this book. It felt honest, and it was a mostly unflinching look at how and why people end up in polyamorous relationships. The ending felt a little glossed over, but still a good read.

Sweet Ménage

I’m on a big ménage and RH kick these days. This book was super sweet but EMOTIONAL. I had some personal triggers from this book; they were difficult, but really made the story hit the right feels when it came to appreciating the romance.

I realized after reading it I tend not to read very many contemporary novels. I think the reason for it is the trigger possibility. I relate so much more to contemporary and who doesn’t?

The book was nicely edited and had nice flow, which I appreciate A LOT as a lot of books I read these days from the indie community get released with poor editing and it drives me crazy.

I think my favorite characters did not actually include the FMC. It was the twins and Alison who stole my heart. And I also really really want another dog again after reading this book.

Great love story!

I really enjoyed Brooke's character. She was strong yet vulnerable and easy to relate to. The characters had depth and were interesting. I loved that they were also dog lovers. I'm interested to see where the next book takes the characters.

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

Having only read books by Kitty Cox that were part of an author duo, I didn't quite have any idea what I was getting myself into, but since I love me some menage romance especially with two delicious twin heroes, I was more than happy to jump right in! From the first chapter I was hooked on the sordid love affair and weird chemistry that is between these three. I couldn't wait to see how the story unfolds and see these two heroes rescue their girl from the arms of a cruel and abusive husband.

Brook is a woman who used to be independent and let her wildness shine but through the years, her husband has slowly eroded both away. I loved watching her rediscover who she was and learn to do what makes her happy despite the unconventional road her heart is taking her on. The more I knew about Brook and saw her grow and blossom, the less I felt sympathy and the more I felt pride and admiration. Kitty Cox gives readers a heroine that they can resonate with because every woman out there wants to reach that point where they are confident and self assured in their actions and they don't have to look to others to find that in themselves.

I fell hard and fast for Ryder, with his quiet broodiness and his unwavering love for animals. I can't help but love a man of action and he is all that and more when it comes to Brook. He had me all sorts of tingly when it was just him in the picture, but then let his twin brother Hunter join him and my heart and panties were incinerated by this magnificent muscly duo.

Hunter grabbed a hold of me with his charm and charisma and of course of his love for his brother which therefore extended to Brook before he ever got to know her. I loved how he opened his home and his heart to Brook and became one of her knights in shining armor no questions asked. Kitty knew just what Brook needed when she brought these two handsome devils crashing into her life to show her how amazing love and passion can truly be when you don't hold back because of conventional restraints.

Kitty Cox delivers an remarkable love story that inspires all others with the desire and steadfast loyalty that take place between this unlikely trio. I highly recommend When It Rains for a romance that checks all the boxes and gives you more heroes to love. I cannot wait to read more stories by Kitty Cox, she has entertained, wooed, and impressed me with her story telling skills and I look forward to reading all of her future works.

I really loved this book. It is a long and detailed menage love story with a strong heroine who needs to press reset on her life after her marriage ends. The heroes are sexy brothers who have pasts of their own to overcome, and watching these three good people find each other and love was a pleasure. Though it is a menage story, it is not an "MFM erotica" (not being negative about those kind, I love them too). And don't get me wrong, it does have heat, but it is a part of the overall romance. There is a really nice balance between the real-world problems the characters are dealing with and the fun escapism we all appreciate in our romances.

Some readers may find parts too slow for their taste but I am always the biggest fan of a slow and detailed build, and this is a thick book (my Kindle app reported over 400 pages) that allowed me to really immerse myself in their world. The female lead is extremely likeable and I loved how the different events of her life as well as her feelings/thoughts about them were handled. I also really liked that she was 34 - I haven't read too many romances where the heroine was in her thirties so this was a really nice change for me. The heroes - well, they are just fabulous. I don't want to spoil anything else about them - they are very nice heroes to discover as you are reading, I promise. There is a note at the end saying there will be a book two, but this book does not end on a cliffhanger and is definitely a complete book and story arc all on its own.

This novel is the debut, solo novel by this author. I’ve read some books she’s co-written, and I thought they were brilliant. When I read the blurb for this novel, it wasn’t even a question that I would read it, because, of course.

I thought the novel was fantastic. I’m a big fan of the abused-heroine-gets-saved/saves-herself trope, and this author has done it brilliantly. Even though Brook’s home life is abusive, never at any point is she weak. She certainly feels weak, but she always remains a strong character. Yes, there are times she seems broken (who wouldn’t?), but the relationships that she has with Ryder and Hunter help rebuild the missing bits in he, while helping to start heal the equally broken parts of them. The relationship building in this story is subtle and organic. It happens quickly, and there’s always a risk that it feels rushed and forced (my pet peeve), but that doesn’t happen here. This situation that the author has written lends itself to things happening quickly, and it works. And while the characters are falling for each other, you can’t help but fall for them. And for those wondering where this books sits on the sexy times scale, it’s up there. Definitely hot, and fast burn for sure. This story was captivating, and I absolutely couldn’t put it down. Really looking forward to see what the second book in this duology is about.

This was my first read from Kitty Cox and OMG I was hooked from page one! When it Rains has everything you want in a book, it has been written beautifully. Kitty was able to switch between characters flawlessly, I never got confused as to which characters POV I was reading.

Brook, Ryder and Hunter are all broken in their own way, the Twins more than Brook as they have had a very traumatic childhood which has shaped them into who they are today. Brook has been in an abusive marriage and didn't really notice until thing became violent and was shut off from the world. Hunter and Ryder and the ones to offer her a safe place to say while she finds herself again.

The characters in this story are beautifully broken and flawed. I found the story to be quite realistic and to be a very emotional read. There are moments you will feel the hurt and pain of these characters with everything they have been through and everything they are going through, then you will be laughing out loud with all the witty back and fourth banter between Brook, Ryder and Hunter. The love between them is full of passion, loyalty and plenty of steam.

The subjects of this book could be *triggering* for some as the characters deal with quite a few traumatic events such as abuse.

Forget Society standards

I picked up this book because one of my favorite authors Auryn Hadley recommended it. Read this in a day and while some might be scandalized by the whole two for one, I think it has great commentary on how society gets so wrapped up in normal or right regardless of how it translates into happiness.

It is also nice to have characters in their thirties as opposed to young 20s while it still being about living life to the fullest without it having to be a huge middle aged deal.

I loved this book and even better it made me think! Looking forward to the second book!

FYI. Started writing the review before finishing so it’s not organized. It’s chronological. Don’t even care. This is long. Spoilers. Also don’t care. If someone had left me this review, I’d not have wasted time. So here ya go...

Weird that she’d not like being complimented because of her husband, but being called sweetie was just fine. (It was actually creepy that all three men used the same exact endearment.)

There were other things that didn’t add up. For example, after living with the guys for two weeks and a shopping trip to the pet store of no less than $500, she reflects on how they’ve let her use their trucks for “pet supply runs.” I could see if they were a breeding operation, but it’s just FOUR dogs. How many supplies do they need?

The dialogue is difficult. I often would have to reread the preceding paragraph because it didn’t quite connect with what followed. It’s like someone’s internal monologue instead of a conversation between three discrete individuals. Even the conversations with her best friend are pretzeled in the exact same way.

She moves in with these guys - ostensibly to look after their dogs - but the conversations for the first two weeks are repetitive. Are they flirting? Are they serious? Is she interested? Does she want to be taken seriously? Who is she? Ugh. We hear this - I’m not kidding - at least five times. Which is why the sex is jarring. There was no process to get there, because nothing changed on the way. No decisions were made. No conclusions were reached. There was no development.

For two guys who are so successful at what they do, they don’t seem to be very good at figuring out sticking points in their writing. So that didn’t fit, either. Unless they were just being disingenuous, which I didn’t get.

I also thought her leaving her husband was just...fast. Not that she shouldn’t have left. But she’s been married for five years, he’s a controlling bastard and he’s just now getting physical? I don’t buy it. For the first couple of chapters I was like “this guy is kind of a jerk, but maybe they could get therapy?” The switch from ass to abuser was abrupt considering the length of the marriage. Controlling types don’t wait five years to isolate the money. Or to start being physically abusive.

Yeah girl, you had sex with both of them. It totally counts. Eye roll.

The problem isn’t that Brook needs to find herself. Her problem is she doesn’t even know what question to ask. Her nonstop giggling was annoying. Saying she can’t date them - after having had sex with them - because they are her boss is asinine.

She goes shopping with her friend and it’s the exact same conversation they had before the sex scene when they met for dinner. You have a crush! Go for it!

Again no development. No moving the needle.

Please, you want me to believe Alison the Book Agent never thought that book was autobiographical? Come. On. And Brook doesn’t think they need her until she realized it was autobiographical? What a shallow woman.

Math. Married for six years, engaged for two, dating for one. She’s thirty four. Why wasn’t she done with college at age 25?! We are never told. She lived in the dorms, then got an apartment during school. But zero explanation for how her husband talked her out of finishing school... never mind she should have graduated years before they met according to the math.

This is at 62%: “While he'd never actually hit Brook, he'd pushed, pulled, and yanked her around.” But when he grabbed her arm at 5%, she asks him what she’s supposed to tell the girls at work about the bruising. That’s not what you say to someone who does it all the time.

This book would have benefited from an editor who paid attention to details, character development, voice, and continuity.

Do independent book agents get vacation time? Don’t they work for themselves?

The fact these messed up men volunteer up their sperm for her friends - especially when Brook tries FIVE TIMES to get them to slow down - is where I quit reading and started skimming. This book is all over the flipping place. And this after the friends say they do NOT want father involvement AT ALL. (But later they’ll be totes fine in the house next door bought by their millionaire baby daddies.)

How on earth does she get “covered in filth” cleaning up after a dog who gets let out to run and a puppy who also gets let out? Was she rolling around on the floor? Using her bare hands? The description is bizarre.

She says she’d heard of Rose Solace before meeting them, as if she knew of the famous author. But she only read one of the books just before meeting them together. Had never read one before. She already knew Ryder. Again, an inconsistency.

Between all the foregoing, and the trafficking, there are just too many balls in the air. In addition to all the balls, they aren’t handled very well. The book goes out of its way to avoid instalove, but just ends up being repetitive in the extreme. If they all announced they had issues once, they did it a million times. We get it. Difficult. Move on.

Lastly, there’s nothing more pedestrian than to inform your reader that the sex scene they’re reading is “so hot.” If you have to say it, it isn’t.

Notes on legalities. Nobody hires a lawyer at age 24 to separate them from adoptive parents. They’ve reached the age of majority. It no longer matters. Additionally, since they’ve always been under a pseudonym just how would those people know it was them to claim “a slice of fame” anyway?! The more important question is her husband. He could easily claim there’s no way she is the author because he knew her intimately for 10 years. You can’t hide having a career worth millions and writing dozens of books. It’s beyond lame to think her friend “put the money away for retirement “ while she continued to live a life with an abuser. WTF kind of inspiration is that? NO ONE is ever going to believe a woman worth $30+ million both hid it and stayed. It’s retarded.

Also - yes there’s more - I didn’t like how they say right away they’ll toss her under the bus with an assumed breakdown if it doesn’t work out. Way to be protective, guys.

Brook claims her husband will have gotten “what he wanted” and therefore should leave her alone. How did she forget he tried to drag her back physically, hired a PI to find her... and now she’s surprised that he won’t walk away after a divorce? Again, inconsistency.

Lolz when the attorney asks about the sperm donor contract and gets told - in front of the other party - that they have her “to shut it down if it gets stupid.” Um, thanks? Said the woman you’re donating sperm to...rolling my eyes.

The attorney is SO mired in conflicts of interest. She should be disbarred.

With all this vomiting of details, you’d think we’d get an actual city name. How convenient that the literacy convention is in the next town over.

So. Let me get this straight. The guys didn’t want to go public because they feared their past coming to light. But they’re perfectly willing to show up a bestselling author of *menage romance* in tuxedos because, what, nobody will wonder about sexy twins with the mysterious ménage writer? Come on.

Wanting to be wanted is smut?!?

She actually stands in front of people and claims she didn’t have access to money because of her husband. Um, that author is worth tens of millions. “I couldn't figure out how to run away until my dog was the one to pay the price for my inaction.”

Right. Because you don’t know how money works?

Omg even the limo driver calls her sweetie. Lol. One voice speaks for all...

“When Owen had attacked her outside Ali's apartment; they'd said he was going away, and it hadn't worked.” No. The police said they couldn’t guarantee he’d stay. Again, consistency.

Love the dig about the evangelicals. Why not add politics to all the other crap. Rolling eyes.

Pregnant women can totally eat deviled eggs.

P.S. Hunter does the dialogue. Ryder does the action. In case you missed it the first TWELVE TIMES.

P.P.S. Then there are the dogs.

Sweet and Sad

I’m going to start this with a trigger warning, as it’s needed for this book. If you are emotionally vulnerable regarding the discussion of child abuse, domestic abuse and animal abuse, you should probably avoid this book. Whilst the discussion of the child abuse is abstract and in the past, the domestic and animal abuse takes place during the course of the events narrated in the book.

This book is the first solo endeavour by this author. She has written three books, The Gamer Girls Series, with co-author Auryn Hadley. I really enjoyed those books, but as I pretty much adore everything Auryn Hadley writes, this isn’t surprising. I thought I’d give Kitty Cox’s solo project a try. I’m glad I did, as this is a good book.

The book revolves around Brook, who has been in relationship with her husband Owen for 10 years. Her marriage is not happy, and she has been isolated from all her friends and family during the course of the relationship. The one thing that brings her joy is working at an animal rescue shelter. She is passionate about dogs and is heartbroken Owen only allows her to have one dog.

Then she meets a new community service ‘volunteer’, Ryder. Ryder is a big man, with little to say, with the exception of how much he loves dogs. He is attracted to Brook, but as she is married, he writes her off as a possible romantic interest. Then one day Brook needs his help and he swings into action.

Brook is a complex character, who used to be bright and exciting until her liveliness was eroded by Owen. He gradually separated her from family and friends and left her completely dependent on him for everything. She loves with her whole heart and is loathe to give up on her marriage. Her heart breaks every time a dog is euthanised and she morns the loss of her friends.

Ryder is a beautiful character. He adores dogs and their loyal simplicity and cannot cope with life without his identical twin brother Hunter. He knows that he has to help Brook, in the same way he would help a wounded animal. He is also a tortured soul and something in Brook speaks to him.

I really liked Alison, Brook’s old college friend. They hadn’t seen each other in years, and still she behaved as though it was last week they last caught up. I love that she encourages the ‘old’ Brook to come back to the forefront of her personality. She is supportive without question, loving and fun. Her friendship with Brook is really important to the book.

The book is at times both sweet and sad. The plot is complex and interesting and I think the author did a great job on her first solo effort. You can definitely see some of the things she brought to the Gamer Girls Series within this book, and it’s good to see that she can write well by herself, as well as with Auryn Hadley.

The book ends as a HFN, but I think the next book in the series will make for an interesting read.

If you, like me, are the type of person who tortured yourself looking at available pets to adopt on petfinder before remembering that your old and cranky cat is very much old, cranky, and doesn’t play well with others, you, too, may find the beginning of this book very difficult to read. Is very good and worth it—but it was not easy.

Why? The beginning of this book introduces us to our protagonist Brook, a thirty-something year old woman who volunteers at an animal shelter. Which is all well and good but also realistic —not all of the animals in the shelter have had happy lives and you will find yourself wishing you could reach through the pages to rescue these animals. So that’s an exercise in futility and some tears.

But that’s not the full story (because that would quite frankly be a book I wouldn’t finish). Instead it’s the backdrop for Brook meeting Ryder, an attractive and somewhat mysterious man who is fulfilling his community service hours at the animal shelter. Again all well and good, except Brook is married to Owen. Who is a dick.

Owen being a dick means that Brook has to leave and Ryder, along with his twin brother Hunter and Brook’s college friend Alison, come to the rescue and get Brook out of a bad situation... and into a romance with the two brothers.

The emotion of this book just drips from the page and fills up the room. From Brook’s work at the animal shelter to her encounters with Owen, her reconnecting with Alison and the development of her relationships with Ryder and Hunter, the setting, the dialogue, and the experience are all right there on the page to ensnare the reader. While this is the first in a duo, it’s a complete story that’s well-told from start to finish.

When it rains...

I devoured this book. There were no breaks to eat or drink once I started reading. From the very first chapter I was captured by Brook's character. She's such an intriguing blend of strong yet vulnerable. Every aspect of how her character is portrayed was perfection; from her reactions that felt so real and honest to the humorous dialogue.
I think the most amazing part of this book is that the main conflict didn't revolve around the unique menage relationship imploding but rather the trio dealing with an outside danger together. I found that refreshing since most books I've read recently seem to be structured around the hero\heroine making a mistake in the relationship and then trying to win back the other person's love. In this book when there was a problem nobody walked or ran away. The situation was talked through and with honesty resolved. I think if more relationships were built this way there wouldn't be so many broken hearts in our world.
This first solo debut of Ms. Cox's promises amazing things from her future works and I couldn't be more excited to read what comes next.

Interesting take on relationships

Very well written, interesting storyline. I read ALOT of romance-all different kinds. I wouldn't call this erotica, but more of a modern contemporary romance. It wasn't about the physical act, but more about figuring yourself out and finding what works for you. The sex scenes were at a minimum (still steamy) but the way the relationships were built was thorough and you could see the development in the characters. I am a believer that everyone deserves their own kind of happiness and society shouldn't define it. The author took her time with the storyline and didn't rush the ending, which I find, many tend to do.
My only negatives are that there is a lot of inner dialogue, but-thankfully-it wasn't this angsty back and forth, indecisiveness within the characters that drives me nuts. The sex scenes did seem a little rushed. I also was upset but the incident with the dog, but understood why it was a necessary element in the book.
I acquired this read through Kindle Unlimited, and it definitely was one of better quality books I've read in KU.

When It Rains had it's good parts and then some problematic parts.

The main characters are all well fleshed out and unique. The plot is cute and relatively believable.

Some parts probably should have been chopped. While I thought the dog lover aspect was cute, it was sort of overbearing. Lots and lots and lots of pages about dogs which is not central to the plot. In the beginning, we do some pov switching (which later disappears altogether, idk why) and it's not very well done. It would be a scene from FMC perspective, then the SAME scene from the MMC perspective but everything was duplicated including reading the exact same dialogue twice.

FMC is escaping an abusive husband and her new love interest makes a rape joke. I was like uhhh? Then at the end of this girl power redemption story the FMC literally says, "I'm not your bitch, I'm theirs." I cringed so hard my face turned inside out. In general the book is fraught with 'not like other girls' tropes.

Perfect

I started reading the gamer girls series and now that I'm waiting for the next book I decided to check out what other books were written by these girls. I found this one and I have to say, its amazing. When the story hits on the abuse I love that it wasn't just physical and brought light to how much verbal and mental abuse can cause just as much damage. Ive been exactly where the main character was in my previous marriage 6 years before I realized what I was dealing with was abuse not just normal. How she felt and thought was right on. Trying to reinvent herself after feeling lost, also right on. Id have to say this is probably one of the most accurate books Ive read that werent about the topic or self help types. I love that it made me feel normal in my broken. I also love the characters.

Cox had co-written stories with Auryn Hadley, and I loved the Gamer Girls books, so when I saw she had written a solo book, I had to check it out, and I am so happy I did. His story tackles the tough topics of domestic violence and trafficking which may trigger some. I thought it was handled well in a realistic manner. All of the characters are a little broken but still strong, resilient and heroes in their own ways, I liked Brook, and seeing her relationship with Ryder and Hunter grow. This is part one of a duology, but it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger - although I was left eager for the next part of the story!

Brook and her boys

This book follows Brook, wife of Owen, lover of dogs, animal shelter worker....and abused spouse. So trigger warning. The other main characters in the book include Owen, Hunter, Ryder, Ali and Leah.
The editing was well done. I did not notice any errors throughout this book.
The world she lives in is basically this one. Her surroundings are described well enough that you can form a picture in your head of what is going on.
I did like the characters. None of them were made to be perfect and none were 100% evil either. I felt like Brook had reasonable worries and responses.
Overall I would recommend this book.

This is an incredible book.

This does deal with some domestic violence, but in a way that is so realistic and relatable.
Brook the MC has some spunk, and I love the banter between her and her BFF.

Twins Hunter and Ryder are amazing men who want to help Brook out as much as possible, but they also have their own demons to deal with.

The sex scenes are scorching hot, but this story really focuses on love, friendship, acceptance and family.

Kitty gave us so many great characters, that I was just left wanting more. <3

I loved this book! It's a Menage a trois, so if you're not into that, still give it a chance. It's that good.

It's very easy to come to like the characters, and hate the one. Kitty Cox writes a great Trio book, without it being all smut. It's much more than sex scenes, and so much deeper. There are legitimate issues that all of the characters have had to or are having to deal with. She is able to make you feel as though you are right there with the MC, trying to deal with everything that's going on, makes you want to be friends/family with them.

Seriously. Read this book.

The writing in this book is beautiful and the story grabs your emotions thoroughly. However i had to step away due to a scene that i wish i had a trigger warning for (animal abuse). But dont let that stop you. Once i came back to the book i had no regrets. And the scene is really important to the main characters devolpment.

*i received an ARC copy, and was not paid for this review. This reflects my honest opinions of the book*

OMG!!!

So I love the gamer girl series so if you haven’t check those out too but this is an amazing story! The mc makes me want to have a drink with her and give her a hug and the guys make me want to cry and dance at the same time! I’m flat out in love with Ryder and the whole story grabs you and pulls you in. Your emotions are all over the place and it’s amazing! I hope there are more to come since I feel they deserve a lot more!!!

I really enjoyed the story. There was quite a bit of depth to the story and the characters were developed enough to make me really care about them. I think there was a lot going on with Brooks story line and the twins and that needed a little more meat to it. I didn't care for the entire rehash of dialog between Brook and Ryder, it was too much and too repetitive. Overall, I loved the book and will follow Kitty Cox and make sure I read her other books.

Wow!!!

I can’t say enough about this book!!! I so loved Ryder, and Hunter they are amazing characters and deserve every happiness this author gives them!!! Brook was an awesome heroine and I can’t wait for the next book to find out how the author resolves some of the remaining issues. You will not regret reading this book!!!!

Great book!

It's a while.since I've written a review, but this book really deserves one. It's a beautifulpy written story of survival. The characters feel real and I cried with them and for them as they reveal their pasts to each other. Kitty Cox has a gift. A highly recommended read.

This was my first Kitty Cox book and I will most definitely be reading more from her!

This book is beautifully written, tackling very tough subjects and featuring characters who have suffered from severe trauma. Brook makes the decision to leave her husband who has emotionally abused and manipulated her for years. Brook ends up working for and living with Ryder and Hunter, twin brothers who are there for Brook when she needs it most. The twins have a secret and are terrified that Brook will run once she finds out.

I loved the premise of this book and felt it was original and unique. The writing was very good and the characters all lovable. My one critique is that some of the beginning chapters felt a bit repetitive, as did some of the dialogue between Ryder and Hunter in the middle. But overall, this was a beautiful read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Meh. I loved this authors bullrider series, but this was clearly an earlier work. It was not smooth and odd. Not sure why it just didn't flow.

A thruple :) SPOILERS ahead...
Man, these men sound so scrumptious. This is total fantasy. I did love all the dirty innuendo and jokes, some were new to me.
Dogs in the bed? Not so hot. Smelly in fact, 4 dogs in the house. I had 2 pugs and they had hair for their friends to spare- so hard no in my bed.
And with Kitty Cox, I liked the story but it wrapped up all the loosed ends a little too perfectly. Best friend knows the men, she can stay with them, they will pay her, she can be their "face" to the public, the friend gets to have their babies (I had real trouble with that) etc.
Its funny how I see it in these stories when it happens in all stories, and it doesn't really bother me. It did here for some reason. Maybe because there were so many characters and they all had perfect endings.
If it had just been her and the guys and the agent best friend, that would have been fine. But the Agent best friend is a lesbian that will carry their babies and solve the whole I don't want kids issue?
I guess it felt like reaching, when it didn't have to.

This is a “can’t stop, won’t stop” until it’s finished kind of book. The characters drag you into their world and make you love them. For real, I want some ménage a trios of my own!
It has just enough emotional ride to make you feel the feels but more sexy wit that actually had me laughing out loud. Definitely recommend the read, you won’t be disappointed....but I’m already asking...more please?!!

Side note: the book was very well written and doesn’t have a lot of the choppy, hard to follow dialogue that drives me insane when reading.

Good

I enjoyed this book. The author did a wonderful job of developing the characters. There was a lot of darkness surrounding the characters yet this was still a sweet story. If you've read other reviews you probably know there are triggers for domestic abuse (on page) and child abuse (off page). Since it is a trigger for me, I will also warn you that there is animal abuse and death within the story. Luckily, these issues were handled sensitively and without a lot of detail. I would recommend this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.
