King Corbet of Fallstrom wants nothing to do with marriage. Used as a pawn growing up by his parents to rain revenge down upon each other, he’s not interested in handing any woman the same weapon to use against him—commitment. But when the deliciously curvy Lady Gwen rouses his savage appetite at a two-day celebration between kingdoms, he decides to take her as his one and only mistress. Forever.

Think again, your majesty. Gwen isn’t interested in being the king’s paramour, no matter how attractive she finds the big, brawny warrior. She needs to find a husband or she’ll have to sell the family farm. Now if the king would only stop growling seductive words in her ear long enough, maybe she’d have some success. When Corbet refuses to let Gwen find a husband…and Gwen refuses to be Corbet’s mistress…who will crack first?

4 Feckin’ Huge Stars ⭐

A warlord king and his unwillingness to take a wife, and the woman who will bring him to his knees...

Every two years, two neighbouring kingdoms come together in a matchmaking event called a Joining. Here is where woman auction themselves in a bid to find themselves a husband. King Corbet has no intention of saddling himself with a wife. However, a mistress to warm his bed is certainly feasible. And then he lays eyes on Gwen.

"She’s not delicate like the rest of them. She’s shapely of hip and generous of bosom. A body built to withstand a hard ride on a cold night. And I plan to be the one doing the riding."

Gwen’s farm has fallen on hard times. Being responsible for herself and two younger siblings, it is now in her best interest to gain a husband at the Joining to save her home. What she hadn’t counted on was being propositioned by the King.

"You are to be my mistress, woman. Permanently."

Silence stretches.

It stretches so long, doubt begins to creep back in and tingle my spine.

Finally, Gwen smiles sweetly. "Like hell I am."

Bloody heck were these two hysterical together, and don’t get me started on the chemistry. Gwen has no intention of being anybody’s mistress and the king’s not the marrying kind. Now they’re at an impasse. But, considering how desperately Corbet wants Gwen, he’ll be changing his tune.

"There will be pleasure for you in a good hard rut, woman. I won’t be the only one finding satisfaction."

I adored how feisty our heroine was and how completely charmed and besotted the barbaric king was. It was short and smutty and I devoured it!!

Jessa Kane's writing + historical romance vibes + strong heroine + no daddy kink = Perfect guilty pleasure

Queen Sized starts with a festive event known as the Joining, where a contest is held between all the maidens of the kingdom to win a husband.

Gwen has entered the contest as a final resort to keep her farm from falling into ruin. With two younger sisters to take care of, she needs to marry a considerably rich man.

A beast on the battlefield, King Corbet has no desire to take a wife. But as soon as he sees Gwen, he wants to make her his mistress. However, the conversation goes like this:

I cup her cheek, tilting her face up toward mine, anticipating a flood of gratitude in her gorgeous brown eyes and eager to watch the show up close. “You are to be my mistress, woman. Permanently.”
Silence stretches.
It stretches so long, doubt begins to creep back in and tingle my spine.
Finally, Gwen smiles sweetly. “Like hell I am.”
She stomps back toward the gathering.

Corbet desperately wants Gwen. But with the memory of his parents cruel marriage in which he was simply used as a pawn, he no longer believes in love or marriage.

She is my woman. Every fiber of my being knows it. And yet I do not have her. Is it not the cruelest irony that the woman who makes me burn is the exact kind of woman who balks at being a mistress?

Was this cheesier than a cheese burst pizza? Yes, but who the hell cares??

“No man has seen beneath my clothes.”
“Good,” he grits out, a single one of his fingertips trailing down my lower spine. “None of them were worthy of this perfection.”
“And you are?”
“No. But I’m willing to work until I am.”

See what I mean? 😍😌

The warm support of her body, her hand in mine, breath on my throat. This is how I want to remain. How I want to live. Exactly like this. With her and for her.

Seriously, kudos to Jessa Kane for getting me out of reading slumps. Every. Freaking. Time. JK, you have my gratitude, now and always 😌 ❤️

“You are henceforth mine. Mine, Gwen. You will be my lover forevermore.” He nods firmly. “I’ve spoken on the matter.”

This was my first historical romance by Jessa Kane. I enjoy her novellas, but I think some of them (this one included) would be better as a full length novel. I wanted more from these characters.

so i guess we all know that i binged Jessa Kane’s novellas last month because i just wanted to reach my 2020 reading goal and i succeeded. BUT i must confess it wasn’t a good idea because the back to back daddy kink and virgin trope drained my ass so bad that my brain started hurting hahaha😴
so i then promised myself i’d take a break from Kane but THEN someone mentioned how this new novella of hers doesn’t contain any daddy kinks and i downloaded this in a heartbeat i’m so pathetic i knowww🤡

anyway so overall, i didn’t give a flipping shit for the characters or whatever that was going on in this novella—even thought of dnf-ing but then i was like you’re gonna dnf a 100 page novella?? c’monnnn bitch do better

and sooo i continued and let me tell you...i initially wanted rate this 2 stars but the last 20% of this had me pushing it up to 2.75 stars bcs suddenly i had goo goo eyes for our hero!! no joke i ‘awwww 😩🥺😍’ my way through till the epilogue lol

“I woke up without you, my love, and realized there is no worse fate. And I’ve suffered some terrible ones. Enough to know that losing you would be the worst punishment of all.”

“I take the crown off my head and place it on hers, bringing forth a sizeable gasp from the growing crowd, then I take a knee in front of her. “You deserve to wear it more than me, Gwen. If you do me the honor of marrying me and being my queen, I’ll lay my kingdom at your feet. My heart is already there,” I finish, my voice crackling. “Forgive a foolish man. Please. I love you.”

“He’s become fiercely protective of my sisters in the last six years. In the beginning, he was mostly worried about people stepping on them, so he fastened bells to their shoes to alert everyone when they were coming.”

**Yes I read this again**
I love it more this time lol 😂 and I’m going to be honest I wouldn’t have resisted Corbet either!! I mean are you kidding me he is big and hairy !! Who doesn’t want those things!! I’m going to be honest if you haven’t read this book, what are you waiting for ? I promise you it is worth it and it’s affordable too 🥰😍!! Go add this to your collection I promise you’ll love it 😊!! -11/6/21

Baby got back !!! 🍑 and no we aren’t talking about the ribs !!

This is another segment of the big men by JK and we love it. Gwen is a fancy lovely 😊 BBW who is about to lose her family farm if she doesn’t get married at the wife auction. Corbet is a king fresh off the battlefield and he thinks this competition is silly. Then across the fields he sees Gwen a thick hot mama who knows her stuff and has more abilities than most men. The problem is Gwen does not tolerate any shenanigans and Corbet has a boatload. What he doesn’t know is that Gwen maybe the one woman to knock down all the walls he’s built up.

This is an insta-lust turned insta-love. A big man 🤪, a crown or two, comedy and enough steamy scenes to melt the paint off some walls!!! I have read this more times than I can count and it gets better each time. Give this a try I promise it will be worth it.

Happy reading everyone 😍🥰😍🥰

Jessa Kane just provides me the reprieve I need when I am strayed with books and have no idea what to read. Thank you Isabella R. your review caught my eye the perfect moment I felt lost. ❤

“Explain how I’ve survived a lifetime of battle.”
“Pure stubbornness. You refuse to die.”

A stubborn warrior of arrogance and humbleness, Corbet, King of Fallstrom was rarely impressed. Huge, tall and equally large he is the eye-catching man adding a bonus of being a king he could get any woman he wants but the mighty King wants nothing permanant.

'Tomorrow evening, there is a wife auction. It’s the final event of the Joining.
I’ve entered myself in the hopes that one of the men in attendance values a hard-working woman. It’s not going to be this man. That I know.'

Gwen is strong willed and a hard working woman with a responsibility of two younger siblings who mean the world to her. Facing the bad poverty days she is looking for a husband who can support them.

"You are to be my mistress, woman. Permanently.”
Gwen smiles sweetly. “Like hell I am.”

When a determined Corbet comes to Gwen wanting her to be his mistress instead of marriage she stubbornly holds her will and wished him to "drop dead". It's a wonderful story set in two days of time span and finally a separate epilogue. If you're familiar with Jessa Kane books this is another fast-paced sweet romance with a historical setting which totally hit fine with me.

-no cheating
-no ow drama
-om drama - another king asks her for her hand in marriage and SHE ACCEPTS. I was so disappointed by that. She obviously didn’t go through with it
-virgin heroine/ long celibate hero
-no violence of a sexual nature
-lots of pushing away by hero. He wanted her only as a mistress
-epilogue was 6 years out but we didn’t learn if they had children or anything

"Queen Sized" is the story of Gwen and Corbet.

Our hero is a king who has vowed to never marry, thanks to a tragic childhood. He meets the heroine, a farmer looking for a husband and is instantly taken by her. He offers a mistress position, she declines and proceeds to enter the marriage mart. But will the hero let her go? Or will he seduce her with his massive dong?
Hint: It's the latter.

Short, sexy and medieval. Enjoyed the fierce heroine and how she made the hero work for it. Good one time read.

Queen Sized by Jessa Kane

HERO - Corbet, King of Fallstrom. Also a battle-hardened warrior. A muscular giant with unruly dark hair, a beard, dark blue-gray eyes, and chiseled features. Scars cover every inch of his visible skin.

HEROINE - Gwen of Lavere. Farmer. Waist-length blue-black hair and brown eyes. Carries some extra weight and is “rounder of hip and curvaceous”. Height-wise, reaches Corbet’s shoulder.

OVERALL THOUGHTS - I have a few thoughts. The first one is that I don’t think medieval-ish time period books are necessarily my jam. I’m always intrigued by them, but end up a little disappointed. I think this is my fourth one in several weeks. I liked the story, but it never rose to a level of loving it. I’d say I really only have two or three issues with the whole thing.

Corbet is more comfortable on the battlefield than he is being king, but he succeeds at both, nevertheless. When the story opens, we learn about the Joining, a weekend festival that celebrates the joining of two kingdoms that usually ends with people betrothed. There’s even a marriage auction if you don’t find someone the natural way. Corbet doesn’t want a wife, but he’s open to having a mistress, who’d basically be his wife, but without the title.

Gwen is an independent young lady with attitude who’s used to hard work and perseverance. She’s got two younger sisters that she’s the guardian of and she wants to be a good role model for them. Her farm has hit a rough patch the last couple of seasons, however, and she’s close to financial ruin. She comes to the Joining to find a husband, someone to help out financially, be her companion, and maybe eventually to love.

Corbet is immediately struck by her appearance and gumption and wants her for his mistress. Gwen, being strong-willed and proud, doesn’t want to be what essentially amounts to a kept woman. They butt heads over this for the entire story. I’m not a fan of a lot of push/pull so that affected my enjoyment of the story a little, too. Yes, she gives in to him multiple times throughout, but it always comes back to their different goals in life.

Like I said before, I did enjoy the story for the most part. I liked reading about the contests, and Gwen's interactions with a woman who’s even more down on her luck than herself. There’s humor, which I appreciated, and there’s heart. Neither has had a smooth upbringing, but they actually have a lot in common because of it. I found the romance between the two, both of whom were fairly well-developed, to be believable and I rooted for them. I applauded Gwen’s self-respect and while Corbet’s stubbornness created a hell of his own making, I could still understand how he came to be that way.

There were a couple of things that soured the story for me, though. The first being . The second thing being that there’s an HEA, but .

All in all, it's a well-written story that just didn't match my tastes, I think. Things I took issue with may not matter to others and if that’s the case, you’ll probably really enjoy this story.

I also wanted to mention that I don't believe this ties to King Sized, also by Jessa Kane, in any way. If so, I missed the connection.

I really liked half of this medieval novella, the other half wasn't my style. The hero was a strange mix between awesome and loutish. The heroine was strong, but kind of wishy-washy. I liked the characters' connection, but it was very instalove.

This was a short and sweet historical romance novella starring a plus sized FMC. The writing can be a bit cheesy and cringe at times, but overall I thought this was a fun and sweet quick read (with some spice!).

My least favorite book from this author

Jessa kane has been a one click author for me for a long time, a freakin goddess of romance so this latest book of hers was a huge let down. I really didn’t care for the heroine in this story who was obnoxious, rude and abrasive, which somehow is supposed to equal “strong.” There were parts of her that was kindhearted—she was compassionate and kindhearted to other women, but to the hero she was a grade A B!t@h. It was no mystery as to why no one wanted her as a wife.

And it didn’t get any better as the story progressed. Instead of simply abolishing the “wife auctions” where women have to compete and show some actual, you know, SKILLS to attract a man, it simply reverses it and has the men competing for women, because it was soooooo objectifying and horrible when it was the other way around but somehow it’s awesome and funny when it’s happening to guys. GTFOH

And they didn’t have any children! Six years later and the KING, who kinda needs an heir for the stability of the country, hasn’t gotten the heroine pregnant—which is seen as no biggie whatsoever. Who needs the continuation of the throne? Civil war and unrest are totes cool when the king dies without an heir. Just a total hot mess from start to finish. Maybe the two sisters who have been raised to be swaggering dudes and who can magically outfight every muscle-bound man in the kingdom with their swords—*snort laugh* yeah that’s real realistic, because, you know, sword fighting doesn’t require upper body strength to be proficient—can fight off everyone who will want to claim the throne when the idiot king who chose so poorly a wife, dies.

The only good things about the book was that the hero wasn’t a mansk@nk, there was no cheating or abuse, heroine was a virgin.

Damn, am I just picking up the books with the most arrogant pricks or what? Because Corbet was such a fucker in the beginning of this story, thinking he could get whatever and whoever he wanted in whatever way he wanted just because he was a king and said so...

But here comes snarky Gwen who doesn’t give a fuck that this dude is a king.

Seriously though, Corbet refuses to marry Gwen because he will absolutely 100% never take a wife and offers her to be his mistress only. And she refuses time and time again because she wants to be respected, not there just to stick his dick in whenever he wants.

Even though her lust takes over when she’s around Corbet, she’s determined to keep her virginity because she needs a husband to keep her family farm and entered the wife auctions... where she has to be a “untouched maiden.” So I was all... you go girl! for being determined and not caving like a bitch in heat...

But then she fucking did it anyways. She let him take her virginity. So ugh, there went that hype for me.

The end was cute and I did enjoy that part so that’s why my rating moved up a tiiiiny bit. This would’ve been way better if she just kept it in her pants until after Corbet got the stick out of his ass and realized that he loved her. Ugh.

Anyway, glad I picked this up to read for the sake of saying I did and trying it out for myself... but also glad I’m done now.

It’s cool to see Jessa Kane delve into fantasy/historical romance, and I loved Gwen, our strong and sassy plus sized heroine. I liked Corbet, but tbh he’s kind of an ass bc for most of the novella he insists on only having Gwen as his mistress and nothing more.

I also felt like the smut in this was just…kind of bland for a Jessa Kane novella? Idk I expect more from her. However, there were plenty of sweet, beautiful, and romantic moments in this, so I still really enjoyed it.

PS There’s no daddy kink in this one, so if you don’t enjoy that kink there’s no need to worry

liked how the h kept her ground even tho she clearly wanted him. kind of disliked her accepting the other hand after she gave herself to the H but at the same time i kind of understand her, glad the H put his head out of his a** before knowing he can lose her to another, was genuine.
