Into the Fire
I have been hiding my whole life. It’s a sacrifice I was willing to make for my family. My father’s political aspirations have always come first. Holy cow! I absolutely consumed this romantic unobtainable love interest story filled with heat and heartache. I literally couldn’t put it down.
Veronica Clayton has lived a conservative life always being careful about her reputation and public persona that reflects on her senator father. Especially, after the horrible situation she found herself in so many years ago that could have ruined her father’s career. Then she meets Robert Ashford who doesn’t hide the fact that he wants her. When he can’t wait any longer he offers Veronica a deal for her to stay with him for a few weeks so he can help her discover her deepest desires and test her boundaries, but there are rules. No intimacy, no kissing on the mouth, and no sharing a bed. She thought she could do it, but Rob gives her nothing of himself. He is cool and aloof while she is falling in love with a man who doesn’t want her.
From the first time he saw her Rob wanted Veronica in his bed, but not in his heart. He has made a deal and is sticking with the rules because he has responsibilities and cannot make room for someone else. But once he lets her into his life, he can’t stop thinking about her and she’s starting to ask too many personal questions. It’s time to let her go because he doesn’t deserve her.
I like the fact that Veronica doesn’t give in to Rob right away and asks her friends for advice who encourage her to give herself permission to try something new. Veronica is a savvy businesswoman who is unsure of her sexuality. Rob is a charming and sophisticated businessman who is afraid of his feelings. It is an intriguing dynamic that is a thrill to watch. However, I thought Rob needed to grovel a lot more after what he did to drive Veronica away. Enter in their fun best friends, Meredith and Jeremy and you get some more background on the main characters’ past and present. There is also some suspense added to the story that brings it to a dramatic conclusion.
I recommend this riveting contemporary romance with independent and redeemable characters. This was my first book by J B Glazer and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I absolutely loved this book! The perfect escape from reality. I could not put it down! It is a sexy, fast-paced, mystery and romance novel all in one. You will fall in love with the characters and be rooting for them the whole way through. I have been a fan of J.B. Glazer's work and love all of her novels. Can't wait for the next one!
