Between The Lines was a wonderful story, there is the right amount of romance, humour and sexyness.
Justin Tibbs is a firefighter, he is good looking and he is also such a flirt. Tessa Ricci is a cop, she is beautiful and strong. They know each other because they work in the same precinct and sometimes they meet outside of work but Justin has always seen her as one of the guys and Tessa knows too well how much of a lady charmer he is. A night Tessa goes to a club she meets Justin who is so shocked he doesn't even recongnise her. There is an indeniable spark of attraction between them but will they risk the awkwardness of the morning after giving into the passion of the moment?
Ricci and Tibbs are a force together, their characters are awesome, I've got attached to them, I've laughed at their bantering, I've swooned at their romance and I've also shed some tears, I've cheered for them throughout the book.
I've read most of T. Gephart books, I love her characters and her writing is getting better and better.

Honestly? I wasn't all that excited to read this book, because while I've enjoyed the series a lot, I just don't like this hero. Manwhore heroes can be tough for me, and even the heroine describes Tibbs as "gross" because of his "ho parade." Yes, those are actual quotes from the heroine. It's one thing to know that a hero is a player and it's another to have seen him in action for several books prior to the start of this one, that's all I'm saying. But you know what? I actually enjoyed a whole lot of this, definitely more than I expected to. These two have some serious chemistry, and their banter was spot-on. Gephart consistently writes great comedy, with love stories that are nontraditional, and often unexpected. So, while there were things that bugged me about this romance, it ended up being a pretty solid read.
The story follows Justin Tibbs, the over the top player that we met in previous books. As a firefighter, he's used to women being drawn to him, and now that all of his friends are coupled up, there are more girls for him. But when he runs into his cop friend, Tessa, out of uniform, she becomes his sole focus. They've always been friendly with each other (like she's one of the guys), but Tibbs has never been attracted to Tessa - until now. And though Tessa is attracted to Tibbs, she has no interest in being the next in his steady stream of one night stands. But their chemistry is impossible to ignore, and sooner or later, one of them is going to break.
I really wasn't enjoying this at the start, because Justin's past was brought up frequently, and I didn't love how Tessa was depicted. But that shifted somewhere along the way, and then I was rooting for these two. I loved Justin's unwavering honesty, and the fact that these two already know so much about each other going in. And I also love how strong Tessa is. If there's a woman who can handle Justin, it's her. So it was easy to see them together and root for that happily ever after. The playfulness was great, and it's got some very sexy scenes. I'm not personally a fan of the conflict at the end, but it was handled well, and really shouldn't have been all that surprising. It definitely took some time to process my feelings about it, and I still don't like it. That being said, I enjoyed a significant amount of this love story and probably would've liked even more if not for my bias about the hero. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this light and sexy romance.

Having read several of the books in this series, I couldn’t wait to read Between The Lines. This is Justin Tibbs and Tessa Ricci’s story and from the first to the last chapter Ms. Gephart wove a story that you cannot help but become invested in.
There is something about Ms. Gephart’s writing style, her strong yet vulnerable characters, that I find easy to relate too; her stories are witty, entertaining and heart warming.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop into love between Justin and Tessa. The characters were easy to relate too and I fell hard and fast for Justin. I loved the journey they travelled in this sweet, passionate, love story. There was a good balance of humour, romance and drama in Between The Lines.

I went into this one blind as I wanted to finish the series not knowing anything about it and just enjoy it for what it is, and that I did, completely and utterly. I feel these two are my favourite couple of the series and the best book too, and that's saying a lot compared to the other couples. So all in all, a brilliant series is what I am trying to convey.
Tibbs is that loveable larrikin that has so much confidence it is bursting at the seems and can be seen from Mars. He cracks me up with his wit and I adored seeing his softer side once he found someone to share his life with. And don't you worry about Ricci, she can hold her own against Tibbs, even more so at times. I loved their adult game of 'chicken'. She was definitely the perfect match for Tibbs. Both Justin and Tessa knew what it was like to date someone who is a first responder, and that alone has pros and cons. On the one hand, you have a dedicated person who will think about others and their wellbeing, and loyalty means something to them. Then flip the coin, and you have people who are putting their lives at risk, and you can lose that person in an instant. Takes a special person to do the job and another to accept that this is their partners passion, which is exactly who Justin and Tessa are.
What I love most about this author, is her ability to express a confidant woman. She doesn't just have the heroine say it, she shows us and let us “see” it for ourselves, to prove the point without shoving it down our throats. She also has the skill to turn a manwhore who's a goof and make us love him by showing a softer side while still giving us his true funny character. This is why TG will be one of my all time favourite authors to one click blindly.

This book has a playboy firefighter dating a police officer and let me tell you... I am here for it! This book was fun with doses of action and lots of romance. It was such an easy and Newell written book. Finished the book in one sitting!

Gah!!! Between the Lines is so much more than I was expecting!!! I was expecting some laughs, some romance and perhaps that wonder steam factor that T. Gephart writes so perfectly but what I got was laughs, steamy sexy times, romance and a whole lot of feels!!! I definitely laughed a lot, I swooned, and I even teared up a couple of times.
Justin Tibbs, the hot and sexy, man whoring fireman has met his match when I takes in, and I mean really takes in, Tessa Ricci the gorgeous police officer. They've know each other for a couple of years but on this one particular night Justin is just wowed by everything about her. They are hilarious together with the back and forth banter and I loved getting to see them grow as a couple. Tessa soon realized that there is more to Justin than meets the eye. There is a little angst and drama that threatens to keep them apart but in true Justin and Tessa fashion, they get their HEA.

What a book! It has everything you want from a sexy romcom: hot firemen, sizzling chemistry and can we talk about the steam, ladies and gents?? This book is a little gem and was well worth the crick in my neck I got from reading in one sitting. Shhh, Don't tell the other men in this series, but I think Tibbs might be my favourite!

Although I am a new reader to Tina Gephart, after reading her previous release, VIRAL, I was keen to sign up to read and review ‘Between The Lines’ to expand more into Tina’s world. Thank you to Grey’s Promo for providing me this opportunity to get to know Tina’s work.
Going into this read completely blind, I had an open-mind and a willingness to discover the world outside of my usual cowboy/southern romance preferred reading genre.
It was a thrill to discover a book and read it without any pretences or perceptions, absorbing it for what it was and I’m pleased to say, Behind The Lines passed with flying colours. Namely, firehouse red and cool cop blue.
From the cover alone, it was obvious that there would be a mixing of worlds between the NYC police and fire departments, also known as the NYPD and FDNY. How those two would mix was of course a mystery, one which proved hilarious, juicy and tense all at the same time on a rollercoaster through New York City and the characters inhabiting the story.
Without dishing on any of the delightful details, which you will discover when reading this book, there was one element I was pleased about as I read my way through. A Strong. Female. Character. I’m not talking about a woman in a shirt and blazer powering her way through the corporate world, no I’m talking a down-to-earth, no nonsense, equal to a man type of woman. One you would be cheering on for not baulking at a challenge, tough times or goes for a typically ‘female’ career. The main female character in this book championed this side of what women can be. Tessa Ricci, I salute you.
I will issue one warning—a good one, don’t worry—, firehoses may be required at some point in and throughout this book as boy oh boy, do the bells get rung, if you catch my drift. Not one to shy away from the down and quite literally dirty, Tina’s writing of the scenes we cannot get enough from had me shifting in my seat and my mouth firmly agog.
Although I’ve read this series (Hot in the City) completely out of order, I’m happy to report that both Tina and it are set to be a firm favourite of mine. The paperbacks have gone automatically to my Amazon Wishlist, and I will now be a fan of all things T.Gephart.
Oh and also, I’ve got dibs on Tibbs!

After seeing how perfect Leighton was, I didn't think anyone could top him as the best boyfriend of the series. Well, I'm here to say I was wrong - because even though Tibbs was FAR from perfect, he totally stole my heart and easily has taken the top spot as my favorite firefighter from T Gephart!
I absolutely loved watching him fall hard and fast for Ricci. Gah, watching Ricci bring Tibbs to his knees - it was so awesome!! And she was the perfect match for him. He needed someone who understood his profession and someone who could challenge him in every facet of life, and that's exactly what he got. I mean, look at their "first date." He was the only guy that went through with it - and he ended up surprising Ricci right back. That was some hot as hell foreplay that definitely helped to intensify the connection and sizzling chemistry between them.
And the emotions brought in this one - holy crap. SO many feels. Not just between Justin and Tess (oh how I loved the difference in when they called each other by their first names)......but in moments that also involved his brothers from the station. One moment stands out in my mind that involved all of them, and I felt like my heart was about to pound out of my chest because I could sense the intensity and love Tibbs felt for Ricci, even if the words hadn't been spoken yet. And that he was willing to give everything up to go against orders, and seeing North and Leighton stand beside him......and the response from Mack......oh my goodness, my eyes were totally tearing up.
I'm really sad that this series is over because I'm not ready for it to be the end. I'm really going to miss this world and all the characters that I've taken this journey with. It's been an amazing ride, and Tibbs and Ricci were the perfect way to end it all. Love, love, love this story so much!

No two people have been more delightfully matched as I smiled and laughed through this whole book. Between the Lines is a total joy to read and I loved every moment of reading it!
Tessa Ricci works for NY's finest. Her body is toned and fit, having come from two parents who served our country, Tessa knows the dedication and sacrifice it takes to serve. And while her parents may have found love, she is also realistic that it may never happen for her. Not many men understand her need to serve and protect and that her handcuffs are used on the job and not in the bedroom.
Justin Tibbs loves women and has never made secrets about it. Lately the variety has lost its appeal, but he can't put his finger on to the reasons why. However, when he comes across the most beautiful, intriguing woman he's ever met he can't shake her from his thoughts- clean or dirty. Did I forget to mention that said woman is Tessa...a woman he happens to know, but has never caught his eye until she displayed the woman beneath the police uniform. Men...so good at compartmentalization until a beautiful woman escapes that box he has placed her in.
Justin and Tessa each give the other as good as they get, teasing and taunting, so evenly matched in their personalities. From their very first date (which had me rolling with laughter...OMG...best first date scene I think I've ever read) Tessa and Justin not only have chemistry, but they push one another on every level possible, something they have both wanted, but never expected in a partner.

This book is the final book in the Hot in the City series and boy did it bring the heat.
Tessa Ricci is a dedicated NYPD officer who is a great role model for women, I love her character. She us bada$$. She is sexy, string, independent, a good police officer and partner, a good daughter and she knows what she wants and who she is.
We've met Justin Tibbs in previous books as he is Presley's brother and fellow firefighter to North, Mack and Leighton. He is confident, (read cocky), sexy, brave, an excellent firefighter, a good friend but not looking for a commitment.
When these two "meet" it's hilarious because Tibbs is being Tibbs and is on the prowl. He doesn't realize its Ricci, he's so blown away. Their chemistry is off the charts but are they ready for the twists and turns life is about to hand them?
You will laugh so hard you cry, you will cry so hard you are sobbing. When you finish you will realize you will miss this cast of characters, all of them. For me, Tessa was a favorite, and well North but Tibbs took a piece of my heart too. Happy Reading!

Justin is a sexy firefighter who is well aware of his appeal with the opposite sex however when he meets Tessa outside of work he isn’t sure how she slipped under his radar. She is a temptation he can’t resist and now he just needs to convince her.
With Justin it wasn’t that he was against love and relationships but more that he hadn’t found the right woman until Tessa. Justin not only appreciates Tessa for the strong woman she is but loves her more because of it and they couldn’t have been a better match.

When I started this book I struggled a bit to get into it. I think it was about 15-20% that i finally did but it was worth the wait. I think it was because I found it hard to connect with Tessa to start with, I can't be sure as to why but it took me a while to warm up to her.
This being said once I got into the book I honestly enjoyed it. It was a fun read filled with angst, emotions, friendships and steamy connections. It was a read you can sit back, relax and enjoy.
Tessa works for the NYPD and has always found Justin attractive but his reputation with the ladies is quite off putting. This being said once I got into the book I honestly enjoyed it. It was a fun read filled with angst, emotions, friendships and steamy connections. It was a read you can sit back, relax and enjoy.
Tessa works for the NYPD and has always found Justin attractive but his reputation with the ladies is quite off putting. What a great story! I love T. Geghart and I love this series! Between the Lines was a great addition to the Hot in the City series! Justin and Tessa's story was amazing! Just the right mix of comedy, drama, and love story! FIVE STARS!!

I’m conflicted.
Tessa and Justin were phenomenal, the banter was great, there was so much potential and I believed in it.
I had fun and these two made me smile so hard it hurt. I connected so easily and naturally.
This story put me in a good mood until it wasn’t.
Until this moment when I realized that when things sound too good to be true it probably is.
I wanted to believe it.
I understood that some drama was necessary but still, once it happened, I was abruptly stopped by and I wasn’t expecting this development into their story. I should have tried to be more comprehensive but I became less invested.
That’s the surprise effet I guess. And there was no turning back to me.
I’m part of the minority and I’m glad readers are enjoying it because there were so many great things about this story, from the banter to the colorful characters, this little craziness and wildness in the air, about two strong personalities who had met their match.
I wished I could have overcome this and I tried but it wasn’t enough.

I enjoyed this story. It had all the elements of an enjoyable read, spark, intensity, love, humor, friendships and good writing. The 2 main characters, Tessa and Justin are interesting, well developed and easy to like. Tessa is strong woman, mentally and physically, she s been a hurt a few times and is not looking for a relationship, Justin is a womanizer, a flirt, determined and laser focused on on winning Tessa heart. Their relationship is lovely to read about and although the set back towards the end was not needed in my opinion, it re enforced yet again the strength of character of both Tessa and Justin. The Epilogue served as a testament, in my opinion to the resiliency and generosity of this woman.

I have loved this series so much, and I'm so sad to see it end! I was initially worried about our hero, Justin, because well.. I didn't know if he could be serious enough to be in a relationship. I have nothing against his past -- as long as everything is consensual, if shouldn't matter how many partners you have. I just didn't see a whole lot of depth to his character with the glimpses we had gotten of him in the previous books. But oh boy, this is one case where I was happy to be wrong!
Justin is absolutely the sweetest, swoonfest, sexiest (holy alliteration!) hero I've read in a while! Does he have his faults? Of course he does. But I love how honest and upfront he was about his sleeping around before Tessa, and how all in he was with her from the very start. He never once looked at another woman after he finally convinced Tessa to take a chance on him, and most of all, he was so vulnerable and sweet, and just so open with her. He made sure to make her underhand that for him there would never be anyone else. Gosh I loved him so much.
As much as I loved Justin, Tessa was equally amazing! She's a police officer who runs in the same circle as Justin and his firehouse buddies, but she never thought that she would be the one to catch his eye. She's used to seeing him with an abundance of women, and despite having a few reservations about that that he quickly puts to rest, I love how that was never an issue for him. They are both grown adults who have had experiences and relationships with one people -- the most important thing is how they navigated a future for themselves. Underneath the intense emotional connection they shared, they had such a playful and sexy relationship! The heat was definitely sizzling between these two, and I just could not get enough of them!
The conflict towards the end was something I didn't see coming, and it's one of those moments where your stomach sinks while your heart is breaking and you just KNOW you're in for a world of hurt. My gosh I cried so hard for these two. The situation was definitely handled a lot differently than I expected it to be, but they were all adults about it which I LOVED. Tessa knows Tibbs' reputation, and it's not good. Unfortunately, she can't help being attracted to the gorgeous man, player that he is and all. But it doesn't matter because he's not interested in her. Until he is. Until one night at his sister's club and he finally notices her as someone other than just a regular ol' officer of the law. But because of that rep of his, she's decidedly not interested in anything with him, so she puts him off. She doesn't realize her sass and indifference just make him all the more interested. Can the firefighter woo the cop into seeing things his way?
This is a sweet, witty, and sexy story. I loved Tessa's strength and feistiness, and how independent she was. And I really loved how much those things attracted Tibbs to her. Their chemistry is hot and their banter was all kinds of deliciously snarky and sexy. I am really excited now for the next Hot in the City installment.

Between the lines is the perfect balance of romance, comedy, action and drama. It's a well written, well balanced novel, that's going to make you love men (and women) in uniform a little bit more. 5+ Stars!
This book was so easy to read. The flow of story had great timing, the banter between Tibbs and Ricci is entertaining and the sexual tension extreme. The story kept me interested until the end. Just when all was wrapping up into a neat bow, WHAM, the drama continued.
The characters are what make this story great. Tibbs is a charmer who is confident and carefree, until he isn't. Ricci is one of my favourite leading ladies. Ever. She is tough and independent, yet still wanting to be in a couple. I loved her strength and honesty.
Everytime I read a T.Gephart rom-com I think, "This is my new favourite." I'm saying it again. Between the lines has humour, yet it's not clichè. It has drama, but isn't depressingly heavy. It has action, however it's not all blood and gore. The sex scences are relevant and detailed without being smutty. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

T Gephart saved the best till last. The saying ‘Behind every great man is a great woman’ sums this book up. This has been a great series about the heroes of the FDNY and it ends with the hottest one. This can be enjoyed as a standalone but if you have read the series then you will know all about Tibbs and the other firefighters.
“Completely unapologetic about who he was and owned it, and that was incredibly sexy.”
Justin Tibbs is an alpha, cocky firefighter who knows he’s sexy. He is full of charm, very funny
and still loving his single life even though all his friends are now in stable , loving relationships .
Tessa Ricci is a NYPD officer. She is a strong, independent and confident woman. She is fed up with men who are intimidated by her badge and attitude. She knows she needs someone confident enough to handle her. When she first saw Tibbs she thought he handsome and liked how he treated her as one of the guys. She admires his bravery and respects his competence in uniform but out of it - his reputation precedes him. On hearing the stories about him she is
irritated with her attraction to him and won’t be another notch on his bedpost.
When Tibbs sees her at The Vault, he can’t believe how good she looks out of uniform. He is determined to get to know her better. He knows she is playing him to start with but relishes the challenge. She enjoys messing with him as sure he not boyfriend material and the mental tug of war between them is entertaining. Both are funny and quick witted so the banter is great. They feel the spark of attraction and connection but not sure what to do about it. He fascinated by her and can’t explain why he suddenly finds her so interesting.
He asks her out on a date and allows her pick where and what they do. They are conflicted as not sure if they playing games or serious, neither back down from confrontation so a battle of who will give in first. Even though he doesn’t understand the feelings he has for her, he tries to be a gentleman. He loves the intellectual sparring and the way Tessa stands up to him, calling him out on any bullshit.
“She was my ride or die. And I was hers.”
Tessa likes she can be herself with him but he also brings out the worse in her and this shows in some of the pranks she pulls on him. At first she won’t admit she appreciates his looks but when his body lives up to all the hype, what can a woman do but admire it !! She such a tough facade but the constant questioning of her relationship showed some vulnerability and insecurity.
“I just really like him. I don’t have to pretend when I’m around him.”
Loved the relationship she has with Grayson Miller. He so sweet and concerned over her, showing they good friends as well as partners. He knows she can take care of herself but doesn’t want to see her hurt especially with Tibbs reputation. The camaraderie and teasing between the firefighters is amusing and it was fun catching up with them all.
I love how easy it was between them and how they got to know each other first. They both honest over what they want and actually talk about their worries of dating each other, which was very refreshing. Tibbs even with all his cockiness is really sweet. It is amusing how half the time he didn’t know what the hell he was doing. They are an excellent match but can she tame him and change his perspective about love and relationships?
I enjoyed their sparring but as their relationship got serious I found the story did too and I missed the banter. I did wonder if his past might effect their relationship and was expecting something to happen to one of them but the twist was good and a very realistic modern day problem many couples have to work around. The conclusion to the drama seemed quite quick after all the build up but it was an amusing ending and appropriate for this couple.
This author certainly knows how to write a good romcom - lots of emotion and angst amongst the fun and naughtiness with a good dose of drama interspersed with the romance. The sexual tension rolls off the pages from the start but underneath it all is a sweet love story.

T Gephart saved the best till last. The saying ‘Behind every great man is a great woman’ sums this book up. This has been a great series about the heroes of the FDNY and it ends with the hottest one. This can be enjoyed as a standalone but if you have read the series then you will know all about Tibbs and the other firefighters.

Justin Tibbs is an alpha, cocky firefighter who knows he’s sexy. He is full of charm, very funny
and still loving his single life even though all his friends are now in stable , loving relationships .
Tessa Ricci is a NYPD officer. She is a strong, independent and confident woman. She is fed up with men who are intimidated by her badge and attitude. She knows she needs someone confident enough to handle her. When she first saw Tibbs she thought he handsome and liked how he treated her as one of the guys. She admires his bravery and respects his competence in uniform but out of it - his reputation precedes him. On hearing the stories about him she is irritated with her attraction to him and won’t be another notch on his bedpost.
When Tibbs sees her at The Vault, he can’t believe how good she looks out of uniform. He is determined to get to know her better. He knows she is playing him to start with but relishes the challenge. She enjoys messing with him as sure he not boyfriend material and the mental tug of war between them is entertaining. Both are funny and quick witted so the banter is great. They feel the spark of attraction and connection but not sure what to do about it. He fascinated by her and can’t explain why he suddenly finds her so interesting.
He asks her out on a date and allows her pick where and what they do. They are conflicted as not sure if they playing games or serious, neither back down from confrontation so a battle of who will give in first. Even though he doesn’t understand the feelings he has for her, he tries to be a gentleman. He loves the intellectual sparring and the way Tessa stands up to him, calling him out on any bullshit.
“She was my ride or die. And I was hers.”
Tessa likes she can be herself with him but he also brings out the worse in her and this shows in some of the pranks she pulls on him. At first she won’t admit she appreciates his looks but when his body lives up to all the hype, what can a woman do but admire it !! She such a tough facade but the constant questioning of her relationship showed some vulnerability and insecurity.
“I just really like him. I don’t have to pretend when I’m around him.”
Loved the relationship she has with Grayson Miller. He so sweet and concerned over her, showing they good friends as well as partners. He knows she can take care of herself but doesn’t want to see her hurt especially with Tibbs reputation. The camaraderie and teasing between the firefighters is amusing and it was fun catching up with them all.
I love how easy it was between them and how they got to know each other first. They both honest over what they want and actually talk about their worries of dating each other, which was very refreshing. Tibbs even with all his cockiness is really sweet. It is amusing how half the time he didn’t know what the hell he was doing. They are an excellent match but can she tame him and change his perspective about love and relationships?
I enjoyed their sparring but as their relationship got serious I found the story did too and I missed the banter. I did wonder if his past might effect their relationship and was expecting something to happen to one of them but the twist was good and a very realistic modern day problem many couples have to work around. The conclusion to the drama seemed quite quick after all the build up but it was an amusing ending and appropriate for this couple.
This author certainly knows how to write a good romcom - lots of emotion and angst amongst the fun and naughtiness with a good dose of drama interspersed with the romance. The sexual tension rolls off the pages from the start but underneath it all is a sweet love story.

Between the Lines is a part of series of standalones and I'm here to say that you do not need to read any of the other books to appreciate the characters and the story. I've read the previous book and now this one, so I knew a little bit about Tibbs (Justin). He is known as the "manwhore" of the NYFD. He's hot. He's a fireman. He's single and he definitely likes to mingle. But as his friends are slowly getting picked off by some amazing women, he's holding off. He knows being a part of a couple just isn't his thing. And that's ok. He doesn't want to be tied down. He loves women and he lets them know what's up before even getting that far.
"So, going to have to pass on giving some girl the key to my balls."
Of course you know that a man that isn't willing to give it up that easy is one to go down even harder. SO what happens when he is out with his BFF, Leighton at his sister's club and they run into the most gorgeous woman that Justin has ever laid his eyes on? Well, it just so happens to be she is someone that he already knows and she most definitely knows his reputation and isn't willing to give in so easily. Tessa Ricci is a cop on the NYPD and she is not only gorgeous, but she's tough, knows what she wants and isn't willing to take any crap. Her dad has raised his girls to be strong and as equals so whatever man comes their way has big shoes to fill.
She was chaos. Dialed in, with the explosion just ready to happen at any moment. And it was the sexiest thing I'd ever seen.
I honestly didn't know what to expect from Justin Tibbs from the previous book I read (with him being a side character), but he definitely met his match in Tessa Ricci. I loved watching their relationship develop. From that initial attraction to friendship and the sexual explosion. They were equals and fun to watch. I laughed and smiled and fanned myself throughout. Their banter was perfection and they were just a great match. Their relationship and story moved at a great pace for them. I really liked being a witness to it all. It felt like I was a friend watching their relationship blossom and watching Tibbs and Ricci give in to what they didn't expect. There was one major point toward the end that really threw me for a loop. That twist in the relationship was not what I expected and at first I was disappointed. It really bummed me out. BUT then I thought about it more and appreciated that Tina Gehpart went there and made it work. It made it more realistic and showed something that is very now in people's relationships with one another. It may have worked itself out a little too easily, but then again, it worked out the way it was meant to be.
I really enjoyed this story and these two may be one of my favorites of the series. 4+ stars for a cocky hero that was so much more and a strong ass woman that could stand with any man out there.

"It was diffusing a bomb wearing oven mitts level difficult. But I never backed away from a challenge, and I was looking forward to finding out which wires to be cut."
Justin sees Tessa as a woman, instead of "one of the guys", for the first time when they are at the bar and she is wearing a dress instead of her PD blues. Tessa can not believe Justin is actually interested and thinks his pursuit is all a big game.
Between the Lines is a laugh out loud, enemies to lovers, first responder romance. Justin and Tessa's banter back and forth had me in tears I was laughing so hard. The secondary characters were just as funny and the camaraderie between them all was entertaining. Hot in the City is the series that introduced me to T. Gephart and I am happy that I found her as her books are hilarious. I can not wait to see what comes next.

Between The Lines is the fun and sexy romantic comedy by Tina Gephart. I am new to this author and her writing style, but her quirky quips and the fun and flirtatious banter between Tibbs and Ricci sold this story to me.
Ricci is a police officer in New York, she is strong, confident and not your typical heroine. She is badass, and certainly gives men a run for their money on the streets of New York but also in a boxing ring. She’s been raised to be tough, and has a thick skin, but deep underneath her outer shell, is a woman who is looking to be loved.
Tibbs is a cocky confident fireman, and when he bumps into a hot brunette in his sisters nightclub, he is unable to take his eyes off her. She is stunning, wearing a tight little number which has him begging to be taken home by her. But upon closer inspection he realises they already know each other, and the object of his flirtation is none other that Tessa Ricci.
Tessa is determined not to fall for Tibbs’ charm, certain he has melted the panties off every girl in the city, but Tibbs is absolutely certain he is going to win her over. They have a beautiful cat and mouse game of flirtation, and it absolutely could have been a realistic romance off the street of New York and right onto the pages of this book.
I adored Tessa, and found it so inspiring to see a strong, confident heroine in a romance book, and to see stereotypes on what you would expect her to be broken. The plot is entertaining, but also has some real fast-paced, heart thudding moments where you hope and pray things are going to work out for the better.

Between the lines est le dernier tome de la série Hot in the city, avec Tibbs le dernier des pompiers.
Tibbs est un homme à femmes et il ne s'en est caché.
Ricci est policière et fille de militaire. Elle s'est battue pour être ce qu'elle est. Et elle s'est imposée dans ce milieu. Son travail c'est toute sa vie.
MAis sa vie risque d'être perturbée lorsqu'elle décide un soir d'aller dans un bar "bien habillée" et ce soir là Tibbs l'a vu. Il l'a vu vraiment.
Ils se sont toujours cotoyés dans le cadre du travail mais il ne l'avait jamais remarqué jusqu'alors (comme s'il suffisait qu'une femme s'habille et se maquille pour qu'on la remarque).
Elle devient sa proie, et elle va céder. Elle va lui montrer qu'elle peut etre flic et femme. Lui va se rendre compte qu'elle peut être la femme de sa vie.
Bien sur ils vont y aller doucement, mais ils vont s'apercevoir qu'ils ne peuvent pas se passer l'un de l'autre.
Tous les deux font un métier risqué, tousles deux vivent pour leur métier, le danger,les horaires, rien n'est facile mais ils vont essayer.
Tous les deux peuvent compter sur leur deuxième famille, elle sur son coéquipier, lui sur la brigade, et puis son meilleur ami et collègue est devenu son beau frère.
Tibbs et Ricci vont prendre leur relation comme elle, et puis le passé ressurgit et ils vont devoir faire un choix.
Je suis mitigée par ma lecture. Autant j'ai adoré le tome précédent, ce dernier, j'attendais plus, plus de suspense, plus d'actions. Plus de psychologie de ces deux protagonistes. Bien sur entre eux deux, c'est chaud,caliente. Ricci est une femme forte et indépendante, qui a confiance en elle. Ils plaisantent entre eux et communiquent beaucoup. Disent toujours ce qu'ils pensent et Il a du respect pour elle, il sait que c'est la meilleure dans sa profession.
Tibbs est arrogant et il avait besoin d'une femme comme Ricci dans sa vie, qui n'hésite pas à lui tenir tête et le remette à sa place. Mais sera-t-il prêt à se battre pour avoir un avenir ou faire ce qui est bon, faire ce qui est juste, quitte à être malheureux.
