Show-How Guides: Drawing Magical Creatures: The 7 Essential Techniques 15 Fantastical Creatures Everyone Should Know!
by Keith Zoo

Can you child make basic shapes? Do they like drawing? Check out this book where even kids as young as 5 or 6 can learn to draw magical creatures if they know simple basic shapes!
This book is a step by step technique that uses shapes and how to place them to create funny creatures. Some erasing needed to remove overlapping lines but the book shows exactly where to do this. It's simple, easy, and fun!

Kids will be so proud of their art work! It will only take a few minutes to create something they will have that will build up skill and confidence. They will have fun doing it too!

Some of the magical creatures they will learn to draw include a gnome, fairy, mandrake, elf, jackalope, lava monster, mere creature, phoenix, golem, unicorn, minotaur, troll, yeti, kraken, and dragon.

Great idea for gifts, art lovers, fantasy lovers, or someone who needs a boost in self confidence! Fun for one or a group!

I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this fun and artsy book!

This is a short and simple little book that shows you how to draw an assortment of magical creatures. It is entirely in purple, black and white. Each one is done in the style of "do this shape, add this shape, erase this bit" that is very popular, although this is not the way I prefer to draw or to teach my kids. There's a nice variety but their styles weren't exactly my styles. I personally prefer the "draw magical creatures and make them cute/happy" books but this guide will give kids especially the tools to draw simple creatures. The intro shows how to do things like shading and cross hatching, for those who aren't familiar with beginner art concepts. Recommended, though it's not my favorite resource.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

Divided into basics and magical creatures section, Zoo covers how to draw mandrakes, unicorns, trolls, dragons, and more. The Basics section includes example of why you need the skills. Included are step-by-step instructions that break complex characters down to simple steps. The instructions are easy to follow for beginning and intermediate drawers. Fun, fanciful creatures. Readers who enjoy leaning to draw will enjoy this book. 4.5 stars, Grades 4 to 9

I absolutely love kid's drawing books - I find them so fun and relaxing!
This one was my favorite kind of thing to draw - Magical Creatures. I like drawing things that don't really exist, then you can never be wrong in your portrayal of what they look like - it's all up to your imagination.
I liked how all of the subjects were broken down into simple shapes and steps. It was easy to following along from one step to the next, there wasn't an overwhelming amount of progress from one step to the next. And the subjects were all really cute and fun. This would be a great book for a kid who is a beginner at drawing or is just looking for some fun creatures to draw. It starts out with some techniques then moves to chapters divided by type of magical or mythical creature.
Thank you to Netgalley and Odd Dot Publishing for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for my honest opinion. I loved the book and I'll absolutely be looking for more from this author.

SHOW-HOW GUIDES: DRAWING MAGICAL CREATURES by Keith Zoo

This Show-How Guide teaches you how to draw magical creatures. Complete with starting with circles or triangles or whatever shapes are needed to begin your creature.

The author shows you step-by-step how to complete the drawing process. Using it, the directions felt a bit technical to me, personally. I reckon I'm more of a doodle type of amateur artist. I enjoy reading all the different types of drawing technique books, to educate myself.

Highly recommend it for all ages.

Many thanks to #netgalley for the complimentary copy of #showhowguidesdrawingmagicalcreatures I was under no obligation to post a review.

This is the best book for a child who would like to learn how to draw. Also, for a child that loves Magical Creatures. The book discusses what is needed and the differences in shading and drawing. There are so many different Creatures to draw!! It gives a step by step directions and pictures of how to draw different creatures. I would recommend this for a classroom library and even just to have around the house for kids to work on!!

This really is more of a "show-how" than a "how-to" guide because it shows rather than describes how to draw different characters. Before it gets into the steps of drawing different mythical creatures, it teaches readers how to draw, add shadow and gradient, add texture, and more. I will definitely be purchasing this for my juvenile nonfiction collection!

This is a fun book for people of any age who want to learn to draw cartoon fantasy creatures, with clear instruction on how to draw everything from basic shapes to how to add perspective and shading. It would be best as a paper book, where artists could draw over the the provided examples, either directly on the page or by putting another sheet over the examples.

I am always in search of new drawing books. These are going to be great additions to my library. A favorite subject for drawing and ones that break it down enough for kids to be able to follow.
