Call me Dragon. It’s the last thing you’ll ever do.

Blitz the Devastator has never done a decent day’s devastating in his life. Fireless, artistic and shunned by his Dragon Clan, he struggles to pillage even the meanest village. A future full of misery and failure beckons.

This much is true until the day the burly brown Dragon successfully – imagine that – kidnaps the Princess Azania. As a black Princess of T’nagru, this spirited beauty is by definition the most unforgettable woman in the seventeen realms. Knights errant, men-at-arms and sundry Princes expire at her feet in drivelling worship.

Unfortunately, they all want his scaly head on a platter shortly thereafter. Goes with the territory.

To Blitz’s consternation, the royal nuisance refuses to behave herself and be a typical pampered Princess. With humour, unconventional flair and the odd stomp of her diminutive slipper, she sets out to reform her Dragon.

One question remains. Who will save the Dragon from the Princess?

A very charming book that takes the old trope of dragons kidnapping princesses and turns it into a really fun, comedic adventure. I loved Blitz the Devastator's personality, there were so many occasions where I wanted to hug him, simply because he has had a rather rough upbringing that is very prominent, but he's also so sweet and charming that I couldn't help but smile while reading his lines.

The only issue that I have with the book is that the plot felt a little... all over the place. There wasn't a proper plot line for about 80% of the book, at which point it did, admittedly, become very story focused and action packed until the very end. Still, a more pronounced plot line that you can follow from start to finish would've been nicer, as opposed to a bunch of events that seemed to happen without much connection to each other as the characters developed and bumbled their way through the world.

Despite that, I quite thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters personalities were top notch, and the comedy was very lighthearted, almost theatrical-like. Can definitely recommend this to anyone looking to read a fantasy story involving a very funny and lovable dragon and a snarky princess.

Another thing that I need to say is that I am VERY glad I read this book on my Kindle, because good lord, the amount of words in this book that I've never heard of before in my entre life was insane, I kept constantly having to use the built in dictionary. Marc Secchia's vocabulary is incredibly rich, and it truly shows in this book, and it did a great job of making the reading feel ye-oldy, in the style of the trope that it's written about. The writing style was very distinct and unique because of that vocabulary richness.

Marc did an amazing job with this book. It was a very enjoyable read - loved the dragon point-of-view. Makes the reading experience even more delightful. It was well written and I enjoyed the little bits of humor throughout the book. Highly recommended!

4.5 stars - I actually really enjoyed this book. The humor and teasing was something you rarely find in fantasy books. I loved how action-packed it was toward the end and how everything came together.

I will say that I'm glad I read this on my Kindle, because some of the words were not in my vocabulary. Thank goodness for the dictionary though which saved me from confusion many times.

I'll definitely keep reading the series!

This was a goofy book, which was actually its only redeeming factor. The plot was quite weak and the ending long and drawn out. I lost interest at maybe 70% and had to force my way to the end… So, needless to say, it’s not going to make it to one of my recommended reading shelves.

Content:
The book is clean of foul language and sex. The violence is minimal. There are no references to faith or God.

After reading the first chapter I DNFed. it was an easy decision, as the chapter depicts an attempted rape. Even though you know it won't happen, it was rather horrifying in how it was almost comedically described up until the dragon protagonist realizes what was about to happen to the girl.
I immediately felt ill. Yes, the Dragon did too...but it was not okay.

A fun dragon book

If you’re looking for a no nonsense dragon story, this is it! I really enjoyed the relationship and banter between Blitz and his princess. The story starts small and progresses nicely to bigger and better things. There are mysteries yet to be solved, so I’ll definitely pick up book 2.

Call Me Dragon by Marc Secchia, has adventure mixed a good dose of comedy. Blitz the Devastator, who should be called Blitz the Bungler, was just kicked out of his clan. Why?, he can't do a decent devastating thing, plus he has no FIRE! Who ever heard of a dragon who couldn't even spit fire.
Being very depressed he flew to a village and landed on a roof. He looked into the window and saw a Princess who was being forced to have sex with a terrible Prince. In all dragon communities, this is a no-no. He decided to rescue the Princess and bring her to his clan and tell them that he captured her and hopes that he will be reinstated. Another good thing happened, he bungled the job, destroyed the section of the castle and he could tell them what he destroyed. Another good devastating job. Maybe his luck was going to turn.
He finds out that he rescued Princess Azania, the most beautiful and desired woman in all seventeen countries. They became good friends and she agreed to help him if she could stay with him. Oh, coming back to the clan started out on a good note, then....well you can guess what happened.
The adventures Blitz and Azania have will have you chuckling. Working with Princess Azania teaches Blitz may things He learns confidence. You'll find out why he takes the name of just DRAGON. I cannot wait until the next story comes out.
I received this book as an ARC and enjoy reading every page of it.

This book had me chuckling from the very beginning. I'm generally not into dragon stories, but this one is a gem. The trope of dragon-and-captured-princess is stood on end with two characters who do not fit the stereotypes. With the tropes being treated like society norms, and the dragon trying to figure out humans, there is plenty of material for the characters' snarky wit.

That said, this story is not a spoof. It's an adventure that is balanced with humor. The story is told from the dragon's point-of-view, but the princess's character comes through with equal strength. The danger is dragon sized, the personal dilemmas are relatable to us humans, and the depth of the unlikely friendship is endearing. It also kept me up to 3:00 a.m. with an ending I couldn't put down.

This book is the first in a series, but it has a satisfying conclusion of its own, with space for another complete story. (Which I plan to read.)

Excellent read

I picked up this book on the hilarious premise. What I didn't expect was a heartfelt ride with a dragon who fits in nowhere, and a princess with the same problem. So many excellent scenes and battles. The author excels at writing dragon battle in vivid and satisfying ways, half flying, half running, using weight and agility to his advantage. I can't wait to read the next book.

Well this book was in my list like forever, so yeah I’m going to read some adventure fantasy because I’m having no fucking lucky with romance or RH so yeah here I’m, the cover of this book is magnificent and damn me but I do love dragons, every girl in my class when I was a child and the teacher asked what we wanted to be when adults, all the girls wanted to be princesses but me? I answered every time I wanted to be a dragon, yeah I was a weird kid…

Yuppppp!!! We have a map!!! Purrfect, and the map is even colored? Yeah this is a good sign because It’s BIG and FULL OF DETAILS, sooo much cities and territories are blowing my mind. OMG Blitz is hahaha damn the dragon is even more distracted than me and he’s so damn funny for such a big dragon, I feel in my bones I’ll absolutely love this book. Oh gods Blitz ego is far bigger than him hahaha.

Damn Blitz family is shit, worse of all is his mother… she should be the first to protect him, but no she was was the first to hurt him… this is why he has so many complexes, childhood traumas suck, and I say this with experience… he cast out of his family turned more into a pariah, that was hard and I hope he turns into the most powerful dragon of all so his family will see what the cast aside was in true someone they should have been proud of. They even took his name…

Ok I know he and Azania are different species and all but… I don’t know I wanted her to turn into a dragon so they could be together… I’m not sure I approve this dragoness Aria… I’m jealous? Maybe …. But I swear I felt some chemistry between him and Azania… ok ok I’m a weird person.

“I’m not regular storybook material, Dragon, in case you hadn’t noticed. Now, roll over and show me your – ah, what’s that? Your – ah?” “My ah? Aye, how descriptive you are.” Her pulse raced off at twice the speed. He heard the capillaries opening beneath her skin as she blushed heatedly, shielding her eyes. “I did not need to know that about you.” “This is not my male parts. Those lie beneath this retractable armoured casing –” “La la la …” “However, I am most generously proportioned, I assure you.” “La la LAAAA!”.

This book is great I’m seriously, I love how the author describes Blitz actions, he so damn big and strong that he just breaks things like it’s nothing and he is so entertaining too. The princess thank goddess she isn’t a damsel in distress, I’m loving the world building and I crave to know more.

Blitz personality is so cute, and incredible because he’s such a big dragon but he’s kind and clumsy hahaha he tries really hard to be a “tyrant” but in true he’s a good hearted male. Oh my sweet baby Asmodeus… what a blasphemy!!! how dare someone put a chastity belt on anyone ??? It’s an absurd!! Blitz is right humans are vile creatures even to their on family.

In an unrecognisable voice, he snarled, “Your sire exerts hegemony over your reproductive independence using this MVP device, and calls this virtue? Is he quite mad?” Kneeling on the cream sand beside the pool, the Princess’ face registered confusion. “Reproductive? No … no, this is all about virtue. Not dallying with a man, nor being able to be accused of anything of the kind.” “With whom, when and how much you … dally, Princess, is your choice. This thing is shameful and an abomination. It says far more about your society and your father than you.”

See? Blitz is right and her being beautiful isn’t her fault no woman should feel it’s her fault to be beautiful, men should stop putting the blame on others for their vile actions, thank Goddess Blitz is trying to take that of her and worse of all the fucking chastity belt is magic!! For Asmodeus sake!!!

“Am I really obsessive?” “Blitz, if I replace a saucepan one inch out of place in your kitchen, you notice and adjust it. You don’t even notice that you’re noticing.” “Oh.” “You arranged your paintings first by ascending size, then by subject, then by primary colouration. That’s just in the time I’ve known you. Your workbench is immaculate. You’ve memorised the contents of your storeroom, and you planted your vegetables by name in order of the runic script.” “I guess I’m – fairly bad?” “Intolerable.” A bright giggle belied her rudeness.

Hahaha I love their banter, Blitz is a sweetheart. Damn Blitz family is shit… more like his mother is shit… what a bitch!! All blitz complexes come from a traumatic childhood. His own mother treated him like he was worst than a bug, this fucks with the head of any sane children… and turn them in problematic adults… yeah I’m speaking from experience ok. Urgh !!! His family cast him aside!!! Even took his name! Damn this is low. These damn mothefuckers !! Luckily Azania is there with him, they’re kinder souls because Azania’s family sucks too.

Guys… the Battles I’m this book… they’re awesome it’s FUCKING EPIC!!, sweet baby Belial, I’m serious I hadn’t read a battle so masterfully described in years!!! It’s… I’m without words, this book catched my attention so hard that I even forgot writing some things here hahaha but damn the battles? Fucking hell!!! Azania and Dragon are absolutely the best duo, they’re funny with snarky comments and FUCKING BADDASSES !!! This is what I call a masterpiece of character development.

Ha! If Dragon’s family could see him fighting now!! Destroying soldiers, causing mayhem, smashing, slaying sooooo damn cool!! Now I want to see if his family could say he isn’t a Fucking dragon. OMG this book didn’t end in a cliffhanger, but c’mon this masterpiece don’t even need a cliffhanger to make me immediately start the next one !

I love good action/adventure stories and I love to read almost anything about dragons. This is definitely the best combination of those two loves I have ever been privileged to read. But, it is much more than that. Call Me Dragon is filled with wit, snark and hilarity that makes this story a ten-star winner, imho. I highly recommend it and moved book 2 to the head of my to be read pile and plan to begin reading it within the hour. Please do yourself a kindness and read it for yourself.

Lots of fun and great action

This delightful novels mixes comedy, battles, and an unlikely friendship. When a dragon accidentally kidnaps a princess, he becomes a target. It's difficult to fight knights when he has no fire, but he must protect this unusual princess. The dragon learns lessons about love and courage while facing a cruel enemy that threatens humans as well as dragon kind.

I loved the book and can't wait to read the sequel. Highly recommended!

The writing is OK, but the characters could use more development and the biggest problem is the lack of a main plot. The first half of the book you might think is about resolving Blitz's personal and family dramas, but that gets cut off pretty quick. And then there's sudden, international conquering. It's foreshadowed briefly, but it's but a major component for most of the book.

It all just ends up feeling disjointed and weak.

Awesome Story

This story about a Dragon and a princess is very good. It starts out slow but as it goes along it gets better with them discovering who they really are. The Dragon I is not what he thinks he is and the princess is a small little dynamite of a girl who becomes a woman Dragon rider.. They are unbeaten together. A must read.

Must Read for Dragon Adventure Fans

Parents: due to the mature in nature, outside of the references to attempted rape and the human form being of a curiosity to dragons I think this is appropriate for mature 16+ maybe even 14+ depending on your comfort level. Movie rating would be PG13 at least. The language was clean and the violence is typical dragon violence, nothing overly gruesome and there is some pretty intense torture. Sexual content consists of attempted rape, magical chastity belt, sexual tension, naked guy (but nothing described), appreciation for the female figure (mentioned repeatedly throughout).

The story is engaging and entertaining, the world and communities are well described and really come to life. Don’t start unless you plan to finish because you will NOT want to stop listening. If you enjoy dragons and magic and adventure this book needs to be on your list! I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment to say the least!

Narrator had good differentiations between characters, pleasant voice.

I love a good dragon story, this one is exceptional. I chuckled often at the wit and snarkiness of conversation between the princess and the dragon. Princess Azania, the black Princess of T’nagru, also known as The Black Rose of the Desert. Blitz the Devastator, the near-sighted, ear-infected brown dragon. Blitz rescued the princess from the tower of Prince Florick. From that point, their adventure and relationship blossomed. Through noble knights attempting to rescue the princess, and raiders attempting to capture the dragon, they journeyed on. Azania had no desire to return home and due to family disputes, Blitz, now simply called “the dragon” had no family. Their relationship grew and they depended upon each other. Blitz had suffered jeering and sneering all his life as a Devastator without fire; a plotline I’m sure to be remedied in the future. Learning that Azania’s home kingdom was under siege, they reluctantly went to help. It’s truly a wonderful story. It reminds me of “Vainqueur the Dragon” by Maxime Durand, another dragon point-of-view tale. I have the next book ready to go.

A very interesting premise, a humorous tale told from the POV of a dragon, but ultimately this book wasn't for me. I was expecting something different while reading it. The dragon very quickly adapts to the differences between humans and dragons, and there wasn't much of what I enjoy in non-human POVs (describing the world differently than how humans perceive it). Humor is highly subjective, so this book is for you if you love puns. The overuse of onamonapia turned me off. It made it feel like it was meant for a middle-school audience, but dealt with much older themes, such as SA and consent.

The middle was a little blocky in that there were a number of things the dragon could choose to do, and it felt like the author was setting up the conflicts that would be resolved in books two and three.

Overall, I felt like it was an interesting book, just not the book for me.

Can tell author is a liberal from the topics the dragon gets passionate over. At one point, its revealed the princess is in chastity, she is black, her father, who is black, put it on her. The dragon makes comments about sexuality and despoiling, and says the chastity device is something 'white old mages' would do. I don't see the connection or why the comment was made. Also, the author keeps reemphasizing that the princess is black. Its just distracting and takes me out of the story. Dragon comes off as a white knight and its just cringey.

Excellent dragon story

I haven’t enjoyed a dragon story this much since reading Anne McCaffreys Dragonrider series when I was a little girl!

What fantastic characters, edge of your seat knuckle-biting, and just plain excellent story!

I absolutely loved it, and I look forward to the second book!

I’ll cut right to the chase, most of the book doesn’t have much of a plot, however what this book lacks in plot, it makes up for in character growth. There were some parts where I felt like some words didn’t fit the overall vibe of the book, but those parts are few and far between.

All in all this book is a good read and definitely worth giving a try.

A good story of the growth, learning and changes that come about in a pariah of a dragon and their pursuit to recover reputation with his clan. Both main characters start learning from one another and move from adversarial into a budding friendship and mutual respect and affection.

Well-written stories always evolve and change characters and their attitudes, and this is exemplary of this sort of good writing.

A unique pair of characters

I like Marc's books, this was a little different. I'm not a fan of slapstick and there was a touch of it here and there.
A great story and I'm on to the next one!

Fun and action packed.

The snarky dialog between the princess and Dragon lends just the right amount of humor to an action packed story line. Dragon is continually evolving as the story evolves, giving new dimension to an already rich tale. I anxiously await the next installment
