This book is amazing. You won't regret buying it. The story is very interesting, you just can't stop reading it. I have read other works of N.A. Carson and all of them are so unique and brilliant. I would recommend it to those who like reading stories with elements and gods and dragons. Really amazing book by a very talented author.

N.A Carson is one of my favourite author in wattpad. I love all the books the author has written so far. Inferno is one of my favourite. It's a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy and bxb.

This one was hard for me to read and judge fairly. Note, though I haven't finished the book on Tapas yet but I have gone rather long into the book (chapter 81 to be exact) and has started with Vol. 2. But if everything I complain about is solved in the last chapter of book three or how long this goes on, I'm sorry. This is closer to a first impression (and a review of the first book).

So, let's start with the positiv. Carson is an incredible talented writer. The worlds that Carson has created are deep, gritty and feels real even though there is plenty of supernatural lore to dig into. Inferno is no different. The world of the selfish gods and the mythological beings that have complex backgrounds and lore is amazingly written. So is the characters. If you are suppose to pity a character you will and if you are suppose to hate a character you will as well. It is a story you will feel like you just have to read another chapter.

The negative... Is that as far as I have read it is not a romance even though it is stated as such. And I dearly hope that it never will be a romance. No matter how cliche it sounds, this is a realistic (ironic since it is "romance" is depicted between a god and a shapeshifter) take on abusive relationship. There has been similar theme in the other book series (Demon) that I also have read were a heavy emphasis on domination is depicted. And not in a consensual way. This one is worse than the Demon series who at least try to romanticise it a little this one straight up The main character is constantly angry at his owner (yes, that is what they call it) to then run back to him. It is to me a disturbing read and unfortunately takes away from the story.

Especially since Carson both in this book series and in the demon series doesn't seem to adress the abuse and injustice. It is mentioned through the main character but the writer present it as something that need to be accepted and let's it hang there.

If you can handle that kind of story, I would recommend this one. I will finish reading it, if only because I don't like to leave things hanging and the writing is good so I want to support the writer, even if this one is too abusive both to the main character and me. I do hope that it helps you decide if you want to read it, and who knows, maybe it's just me who is disturbed by this kind of story.

(I have now read every chapter on Tapas. So, I have made another book review afterwards and it has been published on my blog, you can find it here if you are interested. https://readwithseneferliteraturehous...)

Disclaimer: I started reading this book because I thought it was a fantasy BXB romance. If I had known and wanted it to be a sex slave story where the mc is emotionally and physically tortured and broken into sexual submission, then maybe my opinion would be different.

I couldn’t finish this book. It was just pure nasty, and not the good kind. The most toxic relationship that was literally an owner and their slave. Consent was non-existent. It felt so wrong to read this. It was literal torture, to both myself and the poor main character.

Never again… there needs to be so many warnings in the description of this book. E.g.: rape, kidnapping, emotional and physical torture, gaslighting and manipulation… to name a few. I hate to shame people, but what the fuck, author? The story had so much potential to be a beautiful fantasy romance. Instead it was just… disgusting.

It started off strong but then it just settled. There wasn't much growth from either character.

This book holds a special place in my heart. I read it when it was free on wattpad and have always longed to read it again. To have a physical copy is such a gift. I wish I could have the other ones as well. There is so much against and back and forth from each character that I love. The world building is enjoyable and interesting.

Whew that ending!

So I this was one of those roller coaster of a stories. The characters are so varied and all over the place at times. I didn't know who to root for or despise. The ending though, that was a little gut wrenching. Can't wait to read part 2!
