Oh! great, whose real name is Ito Ōgure (大暮維人 Ōgure Ito) is a Japanese manga artist most recognized for the manga series Tenjho Tenge and Air Gear. In 2006, he received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen for Air Gear. Apart from working with manga, he designed some of the alternate character outfits in the PlayStation 2 version of Namco's 3D fighting game Tekken 5, and a guest character in Soul Calibur IV named Ashlotte.
His pseudonym "Oh! great" is a play on words. His pen name, written in Japanese order, is "Ōgure Ito", which is pronounced similarly to and can be romanized the same as the Japanese rendering of the English words "Oh great," ōgurēto. Furthermore, "Oh" can mean "king" in Japanese, making it possible to read the name as "the great king".
This book marks the end of the Suruga Monkey for those that have read the light novels. Koyomi can't accept Suruga's feelings of desperation and acceptance that the cursed arm should be removed and instead now freshly fed upon on by Shinobu he tries to outlast the demon within her body to force it to leave her after being unable to kill him. However things don't go as he planed and he makes some rather desperate decisions himself before the real hero of the saga shows up at last to show salvation to both combatants. Truly as usual my opinion about Oh! Great's interpretations of the light novel in a manga format continue to impress me with not only emotional expressions but also things as simple as entering a room, a moment of salvation framed magnificently, and even a chance to see the Rainy Devil near the end of the story as things work out in the end.
Now for those curious about the girl on the cover let me introduce you to the beginning of the new story of Nadeko Snake primarily concerning Nadeko Sengoku who being a friend of Koyomi's sisters when they were younger has a connection to the ever present antagonist of aberrations who would dare to show around Koyomi. Never one to turn away someone in trouble (at least a girl) this is just the beginning so the story only shows a basic of what is to come so if you are enjoying the adaptation of the light novel into manga then get ready for we are about to meet our 4th aberration (not counting Shinobu since she doesn't really become more active till the next book adaptation.)
Je continue ma lecture de Bakemonogatari et autant vous dire que j’aime vraiment de plus en plus ce manga. Les thématiques abordées, l’action, les personnages, tout est intéressant !
Dans le dernier tome, Koyomi se retrouvait à combattre Kanbaru. Cette dernière a fait un souhait, celui de pouvoir être auprès d’Hitagi. Pour ce faire, elle n’a qu’une envie, tuer Koyomi.
Mais ce dernier est un vampire, il ne faut pas l’oublier. Il est loin d’avoir dit son dernier mot. D’ailleurs, c’est dans ce tome-là qu’on va enfin entrevoir un peu plus l’étendue des pouvoirs du personnage de Koyomi.
Ce tome est intéressant de par plusieurs manières. On voit les réflexions profondes que se fait Koyomi et cela permet d’un peu mieux percevoir le personnage. De plus, lors du combat avec Kanbaru, il ne va pas avoir le choix, il devra montrer une partie de sa force. C’est ainsi que nous allons entrevoir légèrement de quoi notre vampire est capable.
En bref, l’action est présente, l’émotion aussi et on en apprend un peu plus sur le vampire qu’est Koyomi. Un tome intéressant. De plus, la fin du tome nous introduit une nouvelle affaire qui promet également d’être intéressante !
The thrilling conclusion to Suruga Monkey and the beginning of the next chapter : Nadeko Snake. The banter between Kanbaru and Araragi is awesome in this volume, made the pages just scream by. As the story continues to wind through, it is truly enthralling to see which turns it takes and what surprises are in store.
