Your Time Is Now: Get What God Has Given You

Rate this book
God has a purpose for you right now.

You may think you're not ready to make a difference in God's Kingdom or that you're too young for others to take seriously. But that's not what God thinks.

At some point, you have to understand your own purpose and significance in the kingdom of God. How does God want to use you? This book uses the Old Testament leader Joshua as a model for stepping up to God's big calling. Before Joshua, Moses was the one who had spoken to God, performed miracles, and challenged Pharaoh. But at some point, Joshua had to come out to the front. So what did he do? How did he step up? And what steps can you take to seize "now" for yourself?

Now is your time. If you will be steadfast and unmovable, and always abound in what God is calling you to do, you'll see that it will not be in vain. He has a plan, a destiny for your life. Now means "not later." Now means "don't wait." God wants to do great things.

Read. This. Book. NOW.
Do you want to make your life count? Well, don’t we all? But the real question is this: Do you want your life to count by God’s standards or by the world’s standards? In this book, Jonathan encourages us to face this tough question and give an honest answer. Jonathan points out many of the distractions that cause us to make the Christian life a hobby, and he exposes the inferiority of the shiny things of this world when compared to the riches we have in Christ. Although he is challenging us to consider the very real cost of being distracted and complacent in this life, Jonathan manages to do this in a relatable and honest way by sharing his own story and the legacies of Biblical heroes, who remind us that with God all things are possible. Although he is calling out our excuses and showing us where we often stumble in the Christian race, Jonathan does it the way a good friend would—with truth, empathy, vulnerability, and a good dose of humor. So for those who are ready to get off the sideline and get back in the game, this book is the pep talk you need!

Walking in the footsteps of his family, Mr. Evans gives us sound advice and biblical truths to help inspire us to keep going. It is a challenging read that will make you think and reflect. It will also encourage you to pray and ask God in what direction you should move. Although i know nothing about football, using that analogy, as well as examples from his own personal life, It was easily understandable for me. It will also make you think back to what God has said to you and prompt you to listen for his voice in the future. This is a book you will want to refer to in the future.

I received a copy of the book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review

In Your Time is Now, Jonathan Evans has written a new book about living in the now and going after what God is calling you to accomplish in life. He begins the book by opening up about his background. He is the son of Tony Evans, the popular preacher and Jonathan shared how he struggled to figure out his own purpose. He was also at one point signed to the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and he shared how football was his life. After two months, of being signed he was kicked off the team. He shared how he became the chaplain of the Dallas Cowboys and co-chaplain for the Dallas Mavericks and serving in the national ministry. He explained the importance of the word now and the timing. He looked at Joshua and how he rose to a leadership position right after Moses. He recognized how the scriptures declared to Joshua that he was supposed to rise up now. The verse also used the word now twice. Jonathan went into extreme detail about the word now and how this is our season and we can’t wait until we are ready when God says to go, we need to move. He revealed how we need to learn to live out our purpose. He also asked readers to ponder and think on what in our lives has to die and what is keeping us from living out our purpose.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready to walk into God’s calling on their lives and they are wanting to live fearless and go after their calling. I immensely loved he covered all the different areas of stepping into our purpose such as, now, but, go, confidence, wait, yes, and much more. One of my favorite things that he shared was the discussion on the secret from his father. He asked his father one time how he got to point A to point B. His father guidance was for him to go read Hebrews 11. This one talked about faith and how it is the things hoped for. It discussed Abel, Noah, Jacob and Esau, Joseph, Moses, Israelites, and much more and how they had faith and were able to see their lives changed. This taught him how to live in faith and walk in faith and how we can witness our lives change for the better.

I’m currently going through a rough patch because a contract job I have taken doesn’t seem to be working out in the way I had hoped it would. I got the job without an interview — it landed in my lap almost literally as a gift from God. I’m now debating if it was a gift or not and am trying to figure out what is God telling me about this job. Is it that anything that comes to you too easily will turn out to be not even worth it in the long run? Is it a case of easy come, easy go? Anyhow, when I read the description for Jonathan Evans’ new book Your Time Is Now, I thought it might help me determine what my destiny is with God as it relates to my new job. Alas, no, the book doesn’t go into that too much, not even really as a tangent — even though it did get me thinking about the issue and embellished some of my conclusions on the matter. More to come about that.

This is one of those theology books that have a case of what I call “the Vagues.” The book is so vague that it winds up saying nothing, in my mind. However, I think I can now understand why so many Christian books are so vague, including this one: they’re trying to tick off boxes to make the read as palpable and relevant to as many Christians of a certain stripe as possible. In this case, the book is geared toward Evangelicals — I’m not sure of what flavour of Protestantism that Evans belongs to, but he does talk about sin, Satan, and salvation (and not necessarily in that order). I sort of thought this wouldn’t be a book for me as I went into it, but I was curious to note if there were any lessons that I could take from it that would point me in the direction of what I should be doing with my life — at least, career-wise.

This book was received as an ARC from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I could not get enough of the approach Jonathan Evans took to this book and how he incorporated his time in the NFL in comparison to Joshua and Moses' battles with evil and Pharaoh. Having a connection with your higher power is one of the greatest gifts I have ever gotten and this book is clear validation on why. Whenever you have something on your mind that is causing struggle, your time is now to act on it whether you want to see change or not. Always remember that God has a plan for you and remember just because certain events don't happen when you want them to, does not mean that they are not bound to happen for you. I also love the direct tone Jonathan used throughout the book. I felt like he was preaching and I was in the audience shouting AMEN! I know a lot of people in our library community will really be interested in this book.

We will consider adding this title to our B Non-Fiction collection at our library. This is why we give this book 5 stars.

so I'm reviewing for ascot media group. Received a hardcover copy.

A mixed review. I had high hopes as Jonathan Evans is a good speaker. :)

But he takes verses out of context, misreads scripture, gives unique perspectives that make you do huh? Where did that one come from.

It's very American in it's outlook.
He does a great job of pulling in personal stories to help make a point.
I appreciate his continued call that we need to realign ourselves with GOD and make necessary changes and then get up off our duffs and live our lives as God wants us to.

QR codes contained within to further our knowledge.

Given a three cause it's both good and well... NOT good.

Would not recommend for a believer who is not scripturally sound.
