A life of significance, focus, and richness is well within your grasp. It's Your ONE Life is the blueprint for making it happen.
This is a well written book about how to live the abundant life that Jesus promised. After all, haven’t we already received a key to the kingdom of heaven? Regardless of all the excuses, we are in charge of our lives and there are so many ways that we can live our lives fully. The author emphasizes on the life manifesto which I already have: “Shine His Light”. Having a focused statement has guided my life direction and reminded me when I make numerous decisions on a daily basis. It not only clears the purpose of my life but also helps me to contemplate on HOW to live.
One thing that hit me hard from reading this book is the last chapter of “My legacy”. Having lived more than half a century and fully embracing the secret of satisfied life (hint: inheritance from the Apostle Paul), now it is time to think about sharing the wealth of knowledge and mentoring to those who come later. Up till this point, my main focus has been about fellow sisters, my companions and life sojourners. But Lance reminds us the importance of the future generation and leaving our legacy by sharing our lives and walking beside them. As I think of teachers, friends and many grandmas who have inspired me, I also want to be a positive influence to the younger generation. It has been an interesting past few days. Lord connected me with youngsters (Alisha and Crystal), and talking with them rejuvenated in a way so refreshing and energizing me. Well, Lord, here I am.. Use me the way you desire…
A very wonderful book. Lots of great Christian insights on biblical rest, self care, soul care, and making a point of refreshing your relationship with yourself and God.
A lot of these things we feel guilty when we do them because we think God won't approve but the truth of the matter is that God does approve. The world and the devil is the ones who want you to feel guilty for tending to yourself. You cannot take care of anyone else until you care for yourself.
It's not a selfish thing as a lot of us has been taught. It's a godly thing to take care of that which is the most precious: our souls.
The short chapters (separated into shorter sections) and abundance of blank space, along with a few good suggestions and mostly common sense advice on living your best life through time management and mindset, relationships and self-care, made this book bearable to read in times of winter boredom. I find religion to be extremely contradictory and with many interpretations, with quotations being used and interpreted to fit with certain agendas. There are some good takeaways from this book, just not my thing.
Lance captures life as we know it, speed, hurry, and rushing. However, do we stop to think about our impact, influence, and legacy? Lance challenges the reader to stop, slow down, and think about their one life.
This book could change the way you do life and make room for God, people, and moments that fully enrich your precious time. A “Life Manifesto” that can help you leave a legacy and bless others.
