This book was worth waiting for. I've read it in two days despite the fact that I have a lot going on in my life right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Worth the Wait is a great example of what does it mean to create believable characters. We were introduced with everyone gradually and getting the informations about each characters trough their actions. They felt real. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But what I liked the most? The way the relationship between Claire and Caleb developed. Their romance was downright beautiful! It never felt rushed to me. I honestly could not think of anyone better for Claire. Caleb was seriously so perfect and in the most real way. And *sigh* a fighter pilot. 😍 They both brought out the best in each other, and seemed like a real couple to me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is just the perfect book to pick up for a super cute read with depth. I loved it!!
The author did another fantastic job! I again fell in love with the characters and felt as though I knew them personally. This story has so much passion and suspense all in one novel. I also loved the many connections between the books. I found it fascinating from the first 2 pages and throughout the book how the characters intersected between novels. I hope and look forward to a 3rd in the series!
This was a sweet, romantic slow burn that made me yearn for the kind of love shared between Caleb and Claire. It honestly made me a bit jealous I haven’t found my love quite yet. But, as Claire says - her journey to finding the right love was worth the wait. I enjoyed how this plot was relatable. It reminded me of the types of conversations I’d have with my friends, or the kind of scenarios that could happen in my life. Nothing seemed too far-fetched. The one thing I would say is that Claire’s mom’s relationship with Claire’s psycho ex-boyfriend was a little much for me. I also found some of the language to be a little repetitive. Other than that, this was a sweet quick read - perfect for anyone who wants to satisfy their craving for some heartwarming young romance.
This is such an amazing read. It is a great summer romance. It will fill you with wonderful warm fuzzy feeling. It has a few nice and spicy scenes thrown in too!!! There are even some moments that will have you on the edge of your seat with suspense.
Claire and Caleb are both incredible characters. Each have had problem relationships in the past, and neither are really looking for love. Fate steps in and keeps bringing them together. Love won't be denied. I loved the way Caleb was written with great manners and the southern gentlemen way of speaking. There are some characters you will enjoy hating, some who may be redeemed, and some amazing friends you will wish were your own.
I’m madly in love with Caleb. What a great love story. You say that’s it, your done with love, and then it hits you between the eyes. The sensual scenes were done tastefully and loving...and steamy. A cameo of the characters from Worth The Risk was fun. A great sexy, heart-warming, read.
A sexy and extremely sweet Air Force officer and a badass and resilient school teacher, what's not to love? Shannon stole my heart once again, this time with a beautiful and super powerful romance with the right amount of angst and suspense to make the happy ending so worth the wait!
I loved Caleb and Claire so much since the very first page. Their flirty banter, the way they cared so much about each other and that explosive but so sweet chemistry that built up so deliciously that kept me turning the pages. The times I had to put the book down, I was eager to go back to it and keep swooning and sighing with the beautiful relationship they developed.
Claire is such a strong woman who knew exactly what she wanted for her life and the type of love she deserved. I loved how determined she was and how willing to not let her past relationships define who she was. It was heartbreaking for me to see her suffer the effects of the abusive relationship she was in. I admired her courage to stand up for herself and and accept help from the people who loved her but also knowing how capable she was to do what she needed to do, even if it was tough. She was willing to fight for love and for what was right. Her road to healing was very inspiring and the way she let herself love and be loved by Caleb was absolutely beautiful.
Caleb is such a sweetheart. He was so kind and understanding. I loved how he wanted to take things slow and wait for the right moments to come and make things right with Claire. He had gone through some serious disappointments in the past and it was heartwarming to see him wanting to make the relationship work, he was patient and loving and made sure he had Claire's full trust before moving forward. I also appreciated how his protectiveness never made Claire feel like as a damsel in distress, but rather, he supported her and encouraged her to have enough confidence in her own strength and abilities. He believed in her from the very start and she ended up being the heroine of her own story. I loved how he reassured and comforted her, making her feel safe all the time.
The emotions in the story were so deep in vivid, heartfelt to the core. Claire's experiences touched my heart to tears. I believe every survivor of abusive relationships deserve healing and continuous support and every story needs to be told. Although some parts were hard to read because of the raw content, it felt necessary to point out how real abusive and violent relationships do so much damage and how deceiving they can be for the victims.
I loved the supporting cast and the cameos from the previous book. I always love a large group of friends that root for the couple and this gang was no exception. They were funny to read and so loving towards Caleb and Claire.
This story was funny, heartfelt, intense and so deeply romantic! I am so in love with this series and I can't wait for next book to come out!
Worth the Wait is the perfect mix of sweet romance, great friendships and suspense.
Claire has a stalker and a crazy ex. She hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to relationships. Caleb is in the air force and like Claire, he hasn’t had the best of luck with relationships in the past and decides he is just done dating for a while. However, when he runs into Claire and there is an instant spark between them that plan quickly changes.
I loved Claire and Caleb’s relationship from the start! There was a sweetness and easy going feeling when it came to them and everything just felt so effortless. There was an instant attraction and the more time they spend together sparks really start to fly. Caleb is protective of Claire, but not in an overbearing way. He helps her learn more techniques that she can use to protect herself. Their relationship is truly beautiful.
I wasn’t a fan of Claire’s mother and her pushing Claire constantly to be with her ex. I also was not a fan of Claire’s ex! He’s selfish and controlling and just not attractive in any way. Claire and Caleb’s group of friends was a great addition to the story. Claire’s best friend, Tina, plus Caleb’s friends, Joseph and Mike. There were so many great scenes between this group that just had wanting to join them!
Worth the Wait is book two in the Southern Fairy tale series but can 100% be read as a standalone story!
If you are looking for a sweet romance with some suspense mixed in this one is a MUST READ!
Shannon Davis is a new-to-me author, and I love finding new authors to fall in love with their words, so I thought I’d take a chance and read Worth the Wait. Mostly because of Caleb, our hero, who is an Air Force officer. I married my own flyboy, so I was definitely curious about this one. I also love romantic suspense and this story definitely had a bit of suspense to it.
NICUnurse’s Rating: All in all, this was an entertaining read. I found that I do like the author’s writing, so I’ll definitely be looking forward to reading more of her work in the future. I think my only real issue with this book was that the suspense was very predictable. And that could have been exactly the way the author wanted it. I read a LOT of romantic suspense, though, and have for many years, so it isn’t easy to get one past me if I do say so myself. But, I found myself quickly immersed in this world and all of the characters which was a big plus. And though I can’t say that I couldn’t put the book down, I can say that I looked forward to picking it back up and finding out where the story led when I did have to put it down and adult for a while. If you like contemporary, small-town romance with a bit of suspense that doesn’t leave you guessing too much, I think you’re going to be quite happy to spend a few entertaining hours in this author’s story.
I give Worth the Wait by Shannon Davis 4 out of 5 stars!
Claire is a sweet teacher who is done with dating since it's not gone good for her, especially the last relationship she had, as her ex was straight up crazy. Caleb is a military man who is tired of the women he dates, so has decided that he's done as well. Neither saw the other coming, but it didn't take long before I totally knew that fate intervened as they were perfect together with an effortless feel that makes a girl feel hope. Worth the Wait has all the elements for a perfect read in my eyes, with the chemistry, amazing main characters, awesome secondaries, and an underlying suspense factor providing those types of twists to get my f-bombs dropping because Claire has a stalker. As the story goes on, the stalker is escalating, so will Caleb be able to protect her before it's too late? Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the second book in this series by this author. This story follows the characters Claire and Caleb, these two characters have an amazing beautiful romance. This story is a sweet romantic read with some depth to it. You will fall in love with the characters as you read. This book is the perfect mix of sweet, romantic, friendship and some suspense. An amazing addition to this series.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review www.obsessedbookreviews.com
Claire, a school teacher, and Caleb, an airman are both coming out of less than wonderful relationships and are ready to swear off dating. That is, until a stay volleyball and some massive chemistry brings the two of them together.
If only Claire's abusive and controlling ex would quit trying to get her back...
Part Suspense Thriller, part ooey-gooey romance, and packed with a healthy dose of steam, this book was everything I love about romance. And just enough Epilogue to leave you feeling satisfied.
There were so many amazing side characters to love as well! Tina, Mike, Joseph, I'm looking at you! And the military banter was spot on (former military wife here, the PT and your mom jokes had me laughing out loud.)
I highly recommend you read this one if you need a quick romance with some super sexy and swoon-worthy alpha males, and love a good suspense.
I know many of us can relate to being discouraged in life. At least you don’t have an arrogant “stalkerish” boyfriend. Claire is trying to get rid of Ross-Clark. He’s the epitome of selfish. She’s basically sworn off men. Caleb is playing volleyball at the beach when a chance encounter brings him into Claire’s path. He can’t stop thinking about her. Can this military man and pretty teacher become more than friends? They are both afraid to find out! Hopefully mister stalker won’t stand in their way. Or will he?
I loved this love story! I think that Caleb is my book boyfriend of the week! He’s so kind and chivalrous and a bit alpha. There are some dark suspense elements to this book that were a surprise to me, but that just made it better. Fab story! 5 stars
This was such an emotional, empowering, and heartwarming book! It was my first book that I've read by Shannon, and it was almost impossible to put down! I had a love/hate experience with Claire's journey. I absolutely hated how her awful ex was treating her and how he had brainwashed her mother, but watching her grow and become stronger was so empowering to watch. Watching Caleb & Claire fall in love was so sweet. I loved the feeling that they were destined to meet and be together. Plus I loved that once they met it seemed like all their friends found happiness too! A great book!!
PS- I wouldn't be mad about a Tina & Mike novella.....just sayin' LOL
Claire Gibbs is an English teacher and is ending a relationship that isn't working out, but faces opposition from her mother, who does everything she can to make her stay with her ex-boyfriend. Caleb Williamns was not very lucky in his relationships and decided that it's better to be alone. But when Caleb and Claire meet, the chemistry between them is instant. They start spending time together, while Claire has to deal with a stalker, and their relationship is extremely real. I loved the romance and the suspense of the story, and how Claire's mother managed to see what she really needed. I highly recommend the reading.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I am completely hooked. Both MCs are embarking on a second chance at love journey as ex’s seem to want to intervene and cause a little or more a lot of chaos.
I was so enthralled in this story I did not want to put it down to eat. Lol.
I will say that one particular secondary character made me very mad putting one the MCs in danger. You’ll have to read to find out but it will be so worth it.
Worth the Wait was such a cute military romance. I loved Claire and thought she was such a strong person just going through some hard times and didn’t necessarily always make the “best” decision. I felt so bad for her because of the horrible guys she dated so glad she could find someone like Caleb.
I enjoyed the side characters…except Ross-Clark (what a terrible human being).
Worth the Wait had a lot of laughable moments as well as some suspense.

This book was worth the wait!! This author definitely has a gift. I thought her first book, Worth the Risk, was great, but this book blows it out of the water. I can tell that this author has learned a lot from writing her first book. It is clear that she takes her reviews into consideration. This book was better paced, more vivid, and the character development really shined through. I felt that I even connected with secondary characters who did not play a big part in the story. My favorite part about the book was the love between the main characters, Claire and Caleb, and how it grew like a real relationship. Nothing was rushed or romanticized to the point of fiction. Everything about the story felt real.
I loved the first book and got this one and WOW couldn’t stop, Started it in the Evening and finished the next early morning. Was drawn into all the details and the whole family story line, I felt the sting from her Mother’s tongue, the love from her Dad, the fear and rage of RC, the butterflies in the stomach of first inter counters with Caleb, the warm friendship with Tina. The attention to details when her Mom finally understood she had been fooled by RC and the drop bottom horror she didn’t believe her daughter. The ending was perfect with closure.
Loved Worth the Wait! The first book was wonderful and this one was even better. I also liked the subtle connections between characters in both books and how they crossed over into Worth the Wait. This book had just the right amount of romance and suspense, keeping me excited for the next chapter as I read. Can’t wait for the 3rd!
Enjoying this Southern Fairy Tale series. Love that the characters are believable and could really be the person next door. Combining everyday life with Military life for some is the norm, but Ms. Davis writes it in a way all can relate. Well written and great character development. Can’t wait for book 3.
I loved the connections between the books! Caleb and Claire are so different from Rebecca and Jackson. I liked that the story starts off with Claire screaming at a beach and Darlene gives her advice. This had a strong opening and I’m excited to see Shannon’s next book :)
I really liked the characters in this book. Claire and Caleb for sure, but the supporting characters were enjoyable as well. A fun posse! Fate may want Claire and Caleb together, but there is something sinister out there that doesn’t. It goes to great lengths to cause trouble and damage for Claire at every turn.
I have to say I was torn up about Claire’s mother. I could seriously feel my blood pressure rising with that woman’s antics. I was also a bit frustrated at Claire’s naivety. She was so smart one moment and then ridiculously obtuse the next.
The last half of the book moved at a better pace and offered more captivation. This is an author who likes to include every detail about everything. Which at times can be good and other times laborious. I found myself skimming over the detail rich parts in my eagerness to get to the goods. I liked the ending and really appreciated that the author created a character willing to reach out for external support. Showing one’s vulnerability isn’t an easy risk to take. Claire showed strength in her willingness to do that. This may be book 2, but it can be read as a standalone.
This book started as a 3 for me but ended a 4. Initially, I was turned off a bit by how obviously sick and insane Ross-Clark was and yet Claire was being nice to him and tolerating his foolery etc. It was so frustrating. And her mom needed a good swift kick. It was honestly making my stomach turn. But I loved the first book so much so I pushed through since I was enjoying the bromances with Mike and Caleb and the other guys, as well as her friendship w Tina. I do understand that it is tough for women to escape the cycle of violence and abuse (be it emotional or physical) so that could be where some of my ick factor was coming from just as I personally and thankfully couldn't relate. The romance between Claire and Caleb was sweet and Hot! I want some fried pickles and I cannot wait to meet brother Colton in Worth the Ride. On a personal level, the author is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met online and I cherish my personally signed copy. :-)

What a horrible book, it felt like zero effort was put into the story or any of the characters, they're all bland and that's me being nice. The story is non existent as you read about them doing mundane daily things for the majority of the book, and when you get to the part where the characters are talking to each other you immediately cringe as the conversation is lame and the jokes fall flat on their faces, and don't get me started on the stupid mom jokes. Also the fact that they as a group start calling each other like brothers or sisters is immediate, there's nothing deep in their relationship and it felt forced to go along with the storyline. I Definitely don't recommend anyone to read this.
This book is awesome! It has it all from beaches to campfires, from laughter to tears, from funny to serious. The characters, Caleb and Clair are those you want to invite over to your next party. You will laugh and cry You will smile and then want to punch someone. You Just have to read this amazing book.
Shannon Davis writes about small towns and finding love, but also includes so much more! Her books are definitely not your “boy meets girl, innocent courtship and wedding, and everyone lives happily ever after” storyline. If you haven’t discovered this author, you are missing out!!
Shannon Davis did such a wonderful job with this story. I loved the southern sayings that made me giggle, and the sweet military romance completely pulled me in.
This book has the perfect mix of charm, heart, and tension. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a story that will make you smile, swoon, and stay up a little too late turning the pages.
Fantastic slow burn read! I wasn't sure for the longest time how it all tied in then bam it finally hit me 😂. I loved Claire's story I love Caleb's love and attention to Claire I do need me some more Colton So off I go to Worth the ride
I love that these two ended up the way that they did. Couldn’t wish for a better ending! It stinks that it took me so long to read it because when I started reading I didn’t want to put the book down.
