Exhausted from healing Jack and with no strength left to save herself, Max looks on as her friends escape the Ancient Realm. About the author

MJ Raco is the author of the contemporary YA fantasy/adventure series Realm Travellers, offering a uniquely Australian flavour. Her debut novel, The Ancient Gateway, is the first in the series, followed by A Parallel Dimension, and the sequel, The Forbidden Passage. MJ lives in Sydney, Australia, has three adult children and two grandkids she adores. She has two exceptionally large, ginger, rescue tabbies she's allergic to, but wouldn't part with for anything. The daughter of a great storyteller, songwriter and poet, she grew up surrounded by mythology and parables from the scriptures. Her love affair with fantasy began when she was gifted her first Enid Blyton book at the age of seven. Escaping into a world of endless imagination was her happy place, and she hasn't stopped venturing there since. When she isn't saving sight, babysitting or tucked away tapping on her archaic laptop, MJ spends her time reading, cooking and making plans to see the world-especially ancient worlds!

I loved this book just as much as the first one of the Realm Travellers series. Sometimes the sequel to a book is not as as good as the first one. I can honestly say that this is not the case for this book series. It was full of heart racing moments and kept me guessing.I really hope that there is another book to this series. If not I hope M.J Raco writes some more books that I can read and fall in love with just like this is one.

Following on from 'The Ancient Gateway', Mary j Raco continues the odyssey of our young team combatants.
With thought provoking twists, quick decision making scenarios... the challenges are great!
Again, a well written escapist epic, that you can fall into & run away with... while constantly looking over your shoulder!
Recommended for the Teen & Intrepid Adult.

I've now read this book and its predecessor twice. The last time I took a journey to the Ancients' realm was when I was fifteen, and I enjoyed this instalment to the series more than I can say. I think it only took me a day to read it cover to cover: it's the perfect length for a short but highly engaging read that doesn't hold back on the action and suspense, and is coded to identify with a teen/young adult audience.

Being a little older this time and reading with a far more critical lens than I used to, I can't say I was as much blown away. But I still immensely enjoyed the story and the characters (Ryker in particular has become my favourite) and would highly recommend to teen readers with a special place in their heart for styles of fantasy that inject a strong sense of realism into the story.

Got the next book on my shelf ready to read!

They always say that the first book is the best one, but in this series, it is quite the opposite! This book is faster paced and more engaging than the first book, with the remaining 2, (Max and Ryker) Still stuck in the realm. The Aussies and South Africans have to save them. A must read that is highly recommended.

I read this awhile ago and just like ‘The Ancient Gateway’ this was an incredible book. I loved the character development of Max and her relationships with the other characters around her each with their own unique stories. This book perfectly flows from book 1 and I could never put it down. Extremely excited for book 3!

Usually, the sequel doesn't satisfy expectations but "A Parallel Dimension" definitely did not dissappoint. Enjoyed every moment of reading this amazing story. 5 stars from Sri Lanka.
