Catriona is on fire with love for her ice-queen lover, Katherine Konrad, and with expectation for the great things they can achieve together. But first, she has to introduce Kat, a global leader in mass-media and a self-made millionaire, to her penniless artist of a mother and to her reclusive, homesteading grandparents. They live up in the woods of northern Oregon, and deliberately shun everything Kat holds precious and thinks important.

Over one weekend, they fly up from California to pay a visit. And this short trip unexpectedly erupts into a life and death struggle for survival for the whole family.

A deadly wildfire sweeps down the valley where her grandparents live, and Kat and Cat both discover just what love means, as they work together to save not only themselves, but Cat’s family and the whole community.

Hour by hour, as the fire rages, this tender love story explores what it means to cope with fear and loss in the face of natural disaster. The two women discover new strengths and depths within each other, as well as a growing awareness of how fragile life and love can be.

Will the challenges they face strengthen the love and attraction they feel, or will the destructive power of a mighty wildfire prove too great?

This story, set in the late summer of 2019, is a sequel to Heatwave, and was conceived before the wildfires took hold of the US west-coast in 2020.

After loving the first book Heatwave I was so excited to continue reading Cat‘s and Kat‘s story. After finishing chapter 1 I was smiling and knew I will love this book as much as I did Heatwave if not even more. Seeing Cat together with her family was such a beautiful thing to witness. You get to see how little you really need to be happy. No technology can give you that. What followed then was a fight against nature and time. I couldn’t put it down and was on edge about what happens next. I also had tears in my eyes at some point just imagining what just happened. And knowing that wildfires like that happens too often and how much people lose every time. What I especially loved that the author never forgot to mention all the animals. She really thought of everything.
Besides all that I learned so much reading this book and wanna thank the author for another great read. And well of course I‘m hoping that there will be a third book in this series because I feel that the story of Cat and Kat isn’t finished.

This one sucked me in right away! It was very exciting and has a great message. Well done and better than the first book in the series (which is great also). Highly recommended.

A climate change romance or the worst meeting the new in laws?

Almost no comment on how we should avoid climate change and pretty relevant with the Fires in Pacific North West, Greece, Turkey and elsewhere. Strong female characters who save the day and a right wing nutter mayor. It solidifies the romance....

Great Story With Wonderful Characters

I love this continuation of Kat and Cat’s relationship. They are 20 years apart in age but are in a wonderful relationship. Supporting characters are well developed and this series keeps me very interested to see what will happen next. I love Maggie McIntyre’s novels and am looking forward to the next one.

I enjoyed the story, a couple spots were boring, the storyline continues. I'd be interested to read a "Finding Family" continuation for a next book in the series.

Wildfire in the heart

As their relationship grows, Kat and Cat find themselves in the middle of a wildfire. They will grow closer as the danger presses on. Kat learns what is truly important and sees that maybe its time to rediscover some of her past. I love this series, and can't wait for another one by Maggie McIntyre.
