Frans Lanting might be my favorite wildlife photographer. This National Geographic book has particularly fine photo reproduction, as is usually the case. Priority reread. Date last read is a guess.

Lanting has an exceptional ability to find and capture the unusual and hard to find wonders of our planet. I especially enjoyed the studies on new Guinea and Madagascar in this book. The narrative was a bit ponderous at times and the Hawaii section was less unique, but all in all a very enjoyable experience.
