Better possible titles:

- Scriptures, Secrets and Sand Dunes
- Bible Belt Bodies
- Blessed and Depressed
- What’s the Martyr with you?

2.5 stars… I have nothing against the religious aspects of this book, but there was no synergy between the plot and the theology.

Deleting from my Kindle. I can handle poor writing, if the story is interesting but this story is not interesting enough for me. I had high hopes, because the main character was lively and interesting but things like "dyed purple hair" and a series of unnecessary three word adjectives put me off.

Enjoyable cosy mystery

I liked the mystery no doubt, but the coffee was amazing. The cosy mystery was clean and though I could guess the end, I still found the read enjoyable. Liked it

I struggled to continue after the first few chapters and especially when confronted with the propensity of the character obligated to say a prayer before important endeavours. I’m spiritual and a Christian but having a book character submitting a prayer throughout the book is over the top.
The main character seems to be a weak and frail person so it’s not surprising she will be involved in other capers in this series.
There aren’t many uplifting and surprising twists and turns as you would expect from a mystery and the culprit and reason at the ending although unconventional, was unsatisfactory and unconvincing.
The positive aspect is that it’s easy reading and void of bad language, unsavoury sex, gore and violence.

This a murder investigation by an innocent party that works to clear her name. No bad language or sex. Liked its God aspects. Good writing and likable characters.

3⭐

loved the premise of our female main character being a journalist/barista/part-time author turned amateur sleuth. having an mc that is not an actual detective is a cozy mystery aspect that i love!

there were a few pacing issues throughout the book. when our amateur sleuth took the investigation into her own hands, the pace was relatively normal, albeit a little slow. then out of nowhere it totally ramped up. another thing is that the reason for the murder was a little far-fetched in my opinion. i feel like with a few more pages, we could have gotten a bit more detailed writing 😊

anyways, loved the cozy aspects of this book. it's such a nice little cozy mystery read. nothing screams cozy like a big mug of steaming hot coffee!! ☕

Connie Cafe's dream is to open a coffee shop but in the meantime she is works for the town newspaper. She has to report on the golf tournement that is about to start but even before she can interview the person he ends up dead and she is the main suspect. I thought this books was a down to earth mystery and totally enjoyed it. This is how mysteries should be written when you aren't exactly sure on who did it any why and when you find out you say to yourself dumb reason for doing what you did,

This was a nice, clean read in my personal opinion. Not too heavy on adult material to help things along. I personal have no problem with that but it is nice to read a story that can carry it's own. It had characters written very well and story flowed well. I am excited to read the rest of them!

I did take my time reading it do to personal issues but it is nice when a story is written so one may pick it up where they left off.

** I received a complimentary copy of the book from Maisy Marple via Voracious Readers Only **

a little bit corny, too many adjectives to describe things that did not enhance the story

Reporter Connie Cafe is sent on a fact-finding mission for her story on the local golf tournament. Things don't go according to plan when she discovers her interviewee faced down in one of the course's water traps. He's dead and she's a suspect.

I really wanted to like this. On paper (light chuckle), this seems like a perfect story for me. Alas, I found the overt religious practices off-putting. The blurb is dead-on, Connie is over her head. I prefer my main character to be less wimpy. She was second-guessing herself on everything - lunch, life plans, murder suspects.

As far as the actual editing goes - a couple of misused words had escaped the process and the story needed tightening. The ending was a shade abrupt and while not unbelievable, it was rather tenuous.

The story was a clean read and a different take on the usual cosy. I recommend this with the reservations mentioned above.

a cute short story. Conny has dreams of opening a coffee shop. But in the meantime she works at a local coffee shop part time as well at a local newspaper . She is sent out to a local Golf Course to get a review on a local golf pro. Unfortunately she discovers him lying in a pool of water dead. She is the only suspect and she plays detective to try and find the real murderer. Well worth reading.

This is a fun cozy mystery

A little to preachy for me but I knew it was a Christian cozy when I started it. It seemed to be Christian lite until half way. If this doesn't bother you it was a very fun mystery. I had no idea who the killers were.

I received Coffee and Corpses from Voracious Readers Only and the author. I was intrigued by the story right away, but I was shocked to find out it was a Christian Cozy Mystery. I wish there had been a heads up in the description letting readers know. Religious part aside, the book is amazing. I look forward to reading more adventures of Connie Cafe.

Good short Christian mystery. Too much implied information and no real clues. Another 50-75 pages would have made this a 5 star book.

Pretty good starter for the series, I guess.
I can't help I was reading some teleplay of one of those TV series with crime stories at Hallmark, or Diva.

I enjoyed the novel.

I appreciate novels that don't use sex or a lot of bad language. This novel is enjoyable without either of these. It is interesting and. there are enough characters to move the novel along. .
