Darkest Rose
Ella Desouza is a girl with a gift she doesn’t understand and a future she doesn’t want. Edmund Gilmore is a boy with a thirst for adventure driven by a purpose he cannot explain. When the two meet by an apparent mishap, they fall so deeply for each other they suspect it cannot have been a fluke.

Darkest Rose penned by the author Vera Morgana is the first installment in "The Inevitable War" book series. Main characters of the story are Ella Desouza and Edmund Gilmore. Ella is the daughter of the Emperor’s eastern royal guard, Lord Derrick Desouza.
Gilmore and Desouza are enemies. Gilmore tries to outdo Desouza. When Edmund was climbing the wall to get a glimpse of Sophia in Desouza's party, Ella saw him. Ella recognized immediately that it's a Gilmore because Gilmore are known for their red hair. When Ella had a dance with Edmund, she couldn't take her eyes off him. Soon her heart fell for Edmund.
Ella and Edmund are in love. Ella's parents had arranged her wedding with Wilkin, the Duke of Kroukhesta. Will Ella and Edmund be together?
Narration is smooth and strong. Ella and Edmund's characters are my favorite but Nurse Marcie also won my heart. Writing style of the author is impressive. She has developed an interesting world that totally hooked my attention to the story.
Those who love reading Young Adult fantasy stories should get their hands on this one.

If you love reading fantasy stories then you should get your hands on Vera Morgana's DARKEST ROSE. It is an intriguing story about Ella and Edmund. Ella knows magick. She loves roses and they bloom when she is happy. Ella's family wanted her to have her first dance with Wilkin Boldof but Ella had no interest in him.
When Ella saw Edmund, a guy from the enemy family climbing the wall of Desouza mansion, she fell in love with him. Even Edmund who actually came to see Sophia forgot about her and was impressed by Ella. As the story progresses, he again came to Ella's window and kissed her. Will the family rivalry come in between their love?
This story is mind blowing. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Vera's writing is smooth and that hooked me to the story. If you are looking for an escape from the real world into the world of fantasy for some time, then go ahead with this book. I am sure you would enjoy it.

Gilmore and Desouza, both families are sworn enemies. The center of the story are Ella and Edmund. Even though both of them are from rival families, they fell for each other. Ella's parents fixed her marriage with Wilkin, the Duke of Kroukhesta. Ella didn't have a pinch of interest in Wilkin. She couldn't tell this to her parents but she gathered enough courage to share this with her nurse Marcie.
Marcie informs Edmund that Ella's wedding is fixed and he has to do something to stop it. When Ella met Edmund for the first time, she felt that they knew each other from another lifetime.
This is a captivating story full of romance, action, etc. I enjoyed every bit of it. Cover photo of the book looks lovely. Pace of the story is fast and I wasn't bored anytime while reading this story. I am looking forward to reading more of the author's work in the future.

An amazing love story with strong characterization.I like Ella Desouza. The writer portrait Ella's character very accurately.
