Lex Carter is a high school history teacher, cheerleading coach, and a woman on the run. She’s spent the last four years building her life back up after leaving Jersey to flee her abusive husband. Now she’s living in Alabama and is falling head over heels for the James family. What’s a girl to do when her husband decides he isn’t quite ready to let her go?
Crawford James has been playing it safe since his wife died. He’s been busy raising kids and coaching football that he hasn’t had time to do much else. But then Lex Carter blows into town and winds up living next door. She’s shaking up his whole life and he’s fallin’ head over heels in love with someone that isn’t his dead wife. Will Lex finally be able to put down roots and start over with Ford?
Is the h married or engaged? Neither the h nor the author knows? Too many distracting plot errors. All the characters sound the same. Everyone is hoppity hop hop all over the show like energiser bunnies, exclaiming every second sentence. She’s a judgemental shrew, accusing him of sexual harassment of a minor IN FRONT OF SAID MINOR. Ugh. This must be pre-Covid because everyone constantly scrubs their hands over their mouths or faces.
4 1/2 stars. I was really impressed with this story from this first time author. I loved the character development and enjoyed the chemistry between Ford and Lexi. I loved all the secondary characters and felt invested in each one. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Timeline was all wrong. In one week there was so much confusion. She went on a date with Ford had sex or watch her friends brother while she cleaned. I was so confused. And the football players getting caught drinking what does that have to do with the story. Too many holes.
