Reports of and interest in the paranormal have been steadily increasing for decades—as have the number of people who are encountering ghosts, spirits, and other entities in their homes, businesses, and as part of amateur investigations.
Veteran paranormal investigators and experiencers Tonya and Joey Madia share the details of the haunted homes in which they’ve lived and some of the most interesting and complex cases from their files, interweaving compelling narrative with the tools and techniques they’ve used to investigate and manage a wide variety of hauntings.
This practical handbook is designed to help you identify a haunting; protect your home and those who live in it; identify what the ghosts, spirits, or other entities want; and come to a peaceful resolution to the haunting phenomena.
The Madias once again have proven themselves to be first-rate paranormal investigators. Their painstakingly built reputation for integrity and diligence justifies a growing audience. Along the way, they have honed their knack for storytelling to reward readers with excellent accounts of eerie incursions into places where routine living becomes suddenly, harrowingly interrupted.—Gary Mantz and Suzanne Mitchell, co-hosts, Mantz and Mitchell, 1150 KKNW Seattle
There’s hundreds of books about unexplainable, unusual, frightening and many times dangerous activities taking place in people’s lives & homes. Now comes a book that also gives you the tools and ideas to empower yourself to deal with this activity. I love this and can’t wait to read it. —Kelly Steffen, show host and producer, Sky Door Network
Reading the guidance and advice for how to handle a haunting in your home reinforced what I consider to be something paramount to the study of the paranormal—respect. We don’t know who or what is haunting our homes, nor should we presume to. Keeping an open mind, doing your due diligence, and treating the unknown with respect is key to understanding and appreciating the paranormal. We may never have all the answers, but Roommates from Beyond is a key piece in figuring out the paranormal puzzle. —From the “Foreword” by Emily Mittermaier, paranormal investigator, sensitive, and photographer
As an Author, Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Master Teacher I am passionate about helping others on their journey to wellness.
I began studying meditation 13 years ago, began practicing Hatha yoga in 2009 and completed my 200 Hour teacher training in 2012. My passion for sharing yoga with others comes from the knowledge that yoga has the potential to transform us from the inside out. By creating a union between mind, body and breath, yoga establishes the welcoming path that leads us home to ourselves.
My lifelong experiences with the paranormal led me to the field of paranormal investigating, and I have been working in the field since 2009. I have been asked to investigate everything from private residences to community centers.
I feel truly blessed to be on this journey and look forward to meeting you as I travel this path.
"Roommates From Beyond: How To Live In A Haunted House" serves dual purposes as both a practical guide packed with advice and tools for handling spirits and other dark entities, and a compelling collection of otherworldly encounters by the authors—two experienced paranormal investigators. Joey and Tonya Madia provide readers with an abundance of knowledge before delving into several cases that held my attention and made me reflect on strange instances from my own past.
These are real-life stories where the authors traverse various states, homes, and haunted locations to help property owners address dangerous (and not-so-dangerous) entities in their spaces. As the authors explain, the main purpose of this book is for "you, the reader, the haunted, to have the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to manage a haunting in your home. We want to teach you how to protect yourself, gather necessary information about who or what is haunting your home (and why!), and how to proceed based on the data you collect."
Later chapters offer practical advice and tools for the inexperienced. The Madias present strategies for ending hauntings and introduce various cleansing implements—from the tried-and-true sage smudging to essential oils, crystals, incense, and more. Their Paranormal Bill of Rights establishes ten mandates, including two particularly noteworthy principles: "At the start of an investigation, we treat the entities with respect and we request the same of them," and "We do not assume that every entity that is unkind, mischievous, or non-communicative is a demon."
This is emphatically not fiction. Joey and Tonya Madia are professional paranormal investigators who have assembled a collection of cases that are downright frightful at times—perhaps not for the faint of heart. These real-life experiences read straight out of a paranormal horror novel, proving that art truly imitates life.
At its core, the book explores hauntings in their various forms while seeking reconciliation between homeowners and their otherworldly roommates. This reconciliation might ameliorate or vanquish unwanted presences, or sometimes simply provide solutions for coexisting peacefully with friendly spirits. The narrative weaves through different hauntings and their unique resolutions with keen insight.
This was a remarkable eye-opening read that genuinely resonated with me. If you're living with an otherworldly roommate, I highly recommend Joey and Tonya Madia's thoughtful and practical guide.
Roommates from Beyond is the best paranormal investigation book I have ever read(and I have read over 100 such books!). Why is it my favorite? I greatly admire the integrity, honesty, and strong ethical sense Joey and Tonya bring to their investigations. It is clear the Madia's are not in the investigative business for money or sensationalism. Rather, their only concern is to help others dealing with hauntings and inexplicable phenomena. Roommates is educational and inspirational. I am greatly impressed with their "Paranormal Bill of Rights," the first of it's kind. This bill demonstrates the great respect Joey and Tonya have for both humans and entities alike. Roommates once again demonstrates that the Madia's are first-rate and diligent investigators. I enthusiastically recommend this book! Barbara Mango, Ph.D. Author/Researcher
