A Fake Courtship that becomes all-too-real...

The Marquess of Greystone is responsible for carrying on his family’s name, and he’s determined to fulfill his duty. He will marry a proper lady, of a proper lineage, and produce an heir. He’s even gone so far as to obtain permission to court Lady Isabella, the debutante he’s decided would make an excellent marchioness.

But first, as a favor to his friend, the Baron of Chaswick, he’s promised to assist in easing the man’s illegitimate sister’s entrance into society. A trip around a lake in a rowboat and a drive through Hyde Park ought to be enough to help the chit feel welcome.

Miss Diana Jones believed her brother’s title would pave the way for her entrance into society, but gaining the acceptance of the ton is not so simple as that. When her brother’s friend rows her around the lake, and another gentleman takes notice, she cannot help but believe if the Marquess were to appear to be actually courting her, she’d have no trouble at all attracting a suitable husband. Despite Lord Greystone’s advanced age of nine and twenty, he is lofty, proper, and a little stuffy. He’s the perfect man to pretend that she’s captured his heart!

And, of course, he will help her; he’s one of her brother’s best friends.

What begins as a game of pretend turns both of their plans upside down, when their feigned affection blossoms into genuine feelings neither bargained for.

Lust. Joy. Love?

Will the marquess and Diana overcome their differences, or will those differences keep them from knowing the love of a lifetime?

Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.

After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.

At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.

And then the energy market dropped off.

And then my dog died.

I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination.

Love, love our hero in this story. He so honourable and reliable.
That’s until he meets the hellion that is his friend sister Miss Diana Jones.

Passionate clinches, stolen kisses, lots of water and late night visits , these two can’t stay away.

More please , bring on the Butler!

In this series, I went from the first one directly to this one. Why? Well, everyone knows the peerage rank; who cares about a cocky mister when you've got a cocky marquess to meet? I'm kidding! I just went straight to the books of the characters that I found most interesting: In the first book, Lord Greystone and Lord Blackheart make a wager, and since Blackheart lost, he has to be Greys' butler for the whole season, even though he's a duke!

So, about this book: Diana is the cocky baron's bastard sister. I was a little curious about Baron Chaswick's story, but I didn't find the blurb engaging enough, and as this series is too bland for my tastes, I won't be going back. Sorry, I don't know what's going on with me today; it seems I can't follow a line of reasoning here ahah

So in this book, the baron's best friend will pretend that he is interested in the bastard sister because he is a marquess. If a marquess is interested in Diana, all the lords of the ton will forget the bloodline, and perhaps Diana's chances to find a husband will improve. Yeah, you guessed it, they managed to fake it just for a little while...

Am I adding something to the blurb of the book with this review? Absolutely nothing, because the blurb says it all. It was an entertaining read; I enjoyed the ladies learning how to swim, Mr. Cockfield as butler, and the MCs' interactions. Also this book reminded me of the first Bridgerton book (The Duke and I by Julia Quinn) that I liked enough.

Greystone is fun and a gentleman; he is undecided on whether to follow his sense of duty to his heritage or his heart. I just don't give it a 5 because Diana was terrible at the end, completely out of character, making the ending very childish.

The Cocky Marquess is an amazing story.
An illegitimate daughter of a baron and Marquess start a fake relationship that becomes all too real.

Annabelle Anders writes an exceptional story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Not my fave of the series, but it was an entertaining and enjoyable read. So funny when Diana and the Marquess fell out of the rowing boat, and she put her face into his crotch whilst trying to stand up in the water. 4☆

Cocky Marquess, Annabelle Anders. I enjoyed reading this book. The writer did a great job of supplying the story with a good plot. Focusing more on the romance between Diana and Zeke, the writer shared some colorful and humorous moments as the two pulled off a fake courtship. Some of the verbiage I was able come to conclusion of the meaning others had me referring to the dictionary. I liked that the writer gave an estimated guess of Diana’s age range for Zeke’s love interest.
Most writers have been choosing ages of twenty four or younger and it’s rather hard to imagine while reading love scenes with young women of that age. I felt that the intensity of the passion between Diana and Zeke was real. The exquisite wording that the writer provided explored the world of what true love was. The details describing the scenery and how the characters look was very helpful for me as imagined the story while reading. I found most of the characters very witty, which I thought made the feel lighthearted. This story was a fun read for me.

The Regency Cocky Gents series has grabbed me from the start, and I’m always eager to see what Annabelle Anders will do with the next addition to the series. Thus, I was eager to dive into Cocky Marquess. Although I did enjoy this one, I’ll be honest and say this fifth book in the series is not my favourite.

This was a fun story, one that had the usual Annabelle Anders effect of causing me to grin throughout. Although I adored it – with my adoration growing as the story progressed – I never quite fell for the relationship between the two in the way I had hoped. It was enjoyable, but there were a few things that felt a little too easy for me. It was certainly fun and is worth it for fans of the series, but it is not my favourite.

Once again, I’m left eager for the next book in the series.

Amazing story of two people who have expectations - expectations of a quiet, comfortable marriage, expectations of not living amongst the ton, and expectations of fulfilling their family's expectations. All expectations, however, could be ruined by falling in love, or so they believe. The Marquess of Greystone has always been proper, so is very surprised when he starts to have feelings for a headstrong miss. Miss Diana Jones is bold, outspoken, and loves the wilder things in life. Pretending to be interested in each other is a favour and a means to an end only. Right? Loved these characters and their struggles seemed real. Enjoyed seeing characters from previous Regency Cocky Gents series, but can be read as a standalone.

I really had to mule me down this instalment of the series.

It was one of this cases of non existing obstacles to the relationship apart from childhood idea of the MC.

She was extremely annoying and immature, he was just passing from insta lust to insta love.

However the fatal blow to the story was the fact that it is in contradiction with Chase and Bethany’s book.

There Chase decides to introduce the girls into society as distant cousins not to reveal their illegitimate birth.
This makes sense, here they are introduced as his bastard sisters.
They would have received the cut direct.
It is not realistic.

Not as god as previous stories in series

I realized I would have a problem liking this story when within the first few chapters the hero and heroine fell in the lake and although dripping wet stood around talking and deciding whether to clean up (come on - this is regency England where the wrong cut to your dress could get you censured). Also, the author seemed to have a problem as to whether the heroine was dark haired or blonde haired. As for the heroine, I found her totally unrealistic for the time period and unlikeable. She came off as more child than woman.

Greys is exactly what I would expect from a peer. Always thinking about his title and what it will do if he is not pristine and upstanding and picking out the best wife possible with good lineage and manners. Well, Greys you are about to be thrown for a loop. Enter Diana. She is free-spirited, outspoken and knows what she wants (kind of). She doesn’t want some dandified peer, she wants a man in a uniform (oh yeah, don’t we all like to look at men in uniforms), not to uppity and not looking for a diamond. What is Greys supposed to do since he has been asked to show Diana some attention to get the other men to pay attention to her. That backfires because he then wants her all to himself, damn it, but he does like it. Greys and Diana’s romance is so sweet but also prickly. I love it. Annabelle always does a great job of giving these characters dialog that is funny, clever and so spot on. Her plots are so intriguing that you must see how the characters will get out of their predicaments. This couple is not the most outrageous in this series, but they are a close second to Mantis and Felicity as my favorite.

I received a complimentary copy from the author.

FANTASTIC!!! Cocky Marquess by Annabelle Anders is book 6 in the Cocky Gents series and oh what a great series this is. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the whole series to learn all the stories and characters. It really is fantastic. What I just love about Annabelle’s writing is that the stories are so original and gives you the true feeling of the regency era also they are easy to read. You will not be able to put this book down. It grabs your attention from the first page to the very last. She is one of the most talented writers of today. This story has a young lady that wants to be a dancer, a cocky gent who doesn’t believe in love, having fun, laughing together, living without caution, a dunk in the pond, a loving family, an honorable brother, good friends, prejudice, almost drowning and finding love that can never be or can they? You will just have to read this book to find out and I highly recommend you do. It really is a great read!!!

Don't you just love when a book turns out to be nothing like you thought it would be? Instead, it becomes so much better than you could have imagined! Well, that is precisely what this book was for me. It was full of humor, faux romance, deception, friendship, steamy romance, love, heartbreak & more. Greys, Marquess of Greystone, has agreed to do a favor for his best friend Baron Chaswick - he will show Chaswick's illegitimate 1/2 sister around society in hopes of gaining her popularity & finding an acceptable match. Miss Diana Jones is lovely, dances of the beat of a different drummer & realizes she will never fit in society but after spending some time with Greys, they agree to a faux romance to show a marquess has interest in her & hopefully, it will bring more interest towards her.

Well, no matter how carefully a project is planned, something may still go wrong with it & good grief a lot did! All I can suggest "go buy this book" - it's a keeper! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Another incredible story in the Cocky Gents series from Annabelle.. A fake courtship that turns into something all too real.. He is a stuffy Marquess who wants to be everything proper wants a proper wife but then when he starts getting to know his best friend's illegitimate sister he starts throwing those things out the door and she starts helping see that life is better with love laughter and fun.. But can he make her see she's worthy of his love regardless of her being a illegitimate? They need each other to see the light in the darkness of their lives..

This story was absolutely incredible definitely 5/5
Steam level 4

Now I look forward to the Butler's story.

I loved Cocky Marquess by Annabelle Anders! This is book six of the Regency Cocky Gents and each one has been a thrill to read. In this book Lord Greystone has his life all planned out until he agrees to appear to be courting Miss Diana Jones as a favor to her brother Baron Chaswick. The Marquess Greystone is proper, fashionable, aloof, and stodgy. Miss Diana is the total opposite of that, she is impulsive, reckless, and energetic. There is no way the two of them could hit it off, or could they? Greys and Diana make such a good team together! She is fire and he is ice. I love how all of the characters from the previous books play an integral part in the story. I can't wait for the next installment! Each one is so good you just can't put it down.

2 different worlds attract
I’ve enjoyed this series and found Cocky Marquess to be a pretty good read. Not my favorite in the series, but I enjoyed reading it. I like to figure out plots and the whole dancing theme threw me a bit. Wasn’t sure if she would be fooled into dancing in a disreputable establishment or not. Ruination abounds and overall it was a fun read that distracted me from life for a while.

Cocky Marquess is book six in the Regency Cocky Gents series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading each one in order. I enjoyed Greystone and Diana’s love story. There are a number of steamy scenes. The heroine is young and immature at times but I liked how she changed and developed throughout the story. Great read!

Dance anywhere

Ezekiel aka Zeke appears stuffy and old to Diana Jones Chase younger sister! But he’s clearly respectable and Diana needs help! A fake courtship should help suitors look above her being a Bastard! Diana felt she didn't belong anywhere but she belonged with the people who love her! Diana is bold and exuberant with a zest for life! Convinced because she is a bastard she can look no further than a Mr. or a MI!Italy man! Once Diana realized what following the drum truly means she realized this too would not do! Zeke comes from a long line of illustrious Marquess and was convinced he needed a bored respectable wife! What about one who made him happy? Diana heard some hard truths! The realty was her mother was paid to love her father but were they truly left destitute or the truth kept hidden? The truth is life is short! Live it to the fullest! Love out loud! Can these two resolve their differences to do just that?

Cocky Marquess
Regency Cocky Gents series, Book 5
Annabelle Anders, author

Spectacularly written....

Beautiful love story unfolds between two people from two different worlds....

This is Miss Diana Jones and Lord Ezekiel "Zeke" Winston Leonard Faraday the fourth, Marquess of Greystone.

A beautiful quote from the book by Ms. Anders,

"Do you know why you never feel as though you quite belong? It’s because you don’t fit in just anywhere. You, my love, fit in everywhere. You are not like so many people who only exist in one world, who are like planets rotating around the only sun they’ve ever known. You are your own sun who brings light with you. You, little one, have a unique ability to fit in wherever and with whoever you want."

I highly recommend this novel. I was gifted an advanced reader copy from the author. I leave this review voluntarily.

Shadow birth to many spendored life

Steamy; love and passion makes gentleman Zeke Greys seek marriage to Miss Diana Jones; Diana and her elder sister Collette are the illegitimate half sisters of Baron Chaswich. Chaswich wants Greys to help Diana come out in society. Greys must postpone his own plans as a favor. Diana and Greys first pretend to court. Their feelings are engaged. Diana improperly visits Zeke alone when and where they become intimate. Greys pursues Diana and subsequently marries her. A lot of the characters appear in other books. Lots of details are left out for the reader's pleasure while reading the book.

Will their fears stand between them …

I await each new addition to this series with hunger, and the more we come close to the last one, the more I am impatient.
And with this new one, the author did not disappoint.
Sure the heroine is young, rather wild and the sort to act before thinking. Which she does frequently at her own cost.
Still, Diana is fun, straightforward and no blushing Miss playing game or being coy. She knows what she wants, or she thinks it is what she wants. She understands her limitations, being an illegitimate daughter, she is mostly only tolerated, and is not deaf to the whispers behind her back. Why she has not interest in a titled man, she just wants to be loved for herself without any resentment for being who she is, past, present and future. So a lofty titled older man is much the opposite of who she seeks as her lifelong companion.
Grey has nearly everything mapped out, he has selected his future bride like a mare at Tattersalls, blood line and titles, she will be perfect, will never spike his blood nor rise his lust. And he will fulfill his duty to his legacy. Until he agrees to help his friend half-sister to arose an other man’s interest, and being seen with a marquess would help the transition into the ton from a illegitimate daughter to a baron’s sister. She is so opposite to what he could want as his marchioness, too feisty and boisterous, he never expected what was coming at him.
It was fun to see them collide, they are so opposite, he believes her foolish and unruly when she sees him as old and stodgy. Yet they meet in the middle as he grounds her, and she frees the part of him he keeps caged. With him, she could be the little dancer she wants to be when he is a pheasant who looks in the stars.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen lovemaking scenes.

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

🌶️ Three and a half stars on this one, and we are climbing back into an interesting storyline after the last couple were kinda meh for me. However, the author has chunks of this series stuck in going back in time to show us what the current character was doing during time we’ve already covered in other books.

While I don’t mind this sort of storytelling usually, the author utilizes it in a rather clunky manner- time jumps, short scenes that quickly zip to another and practically gives the reader mental whiplash and they are often poorly described because we already got those details in another book, so we are expected to rely more on our memory.

Which is annoying, given I read so much that I have whole cosmoses living rent free in my head. Add to that my brain fog and the fact that my brain is basically made of Swiss cheese, no, I am not the kind of reader you want to just wing it with.

But I do like Diana a lot, and Greys the Marquess is more likable than I thought he would be. Can they carry a story of their own, however???? Yes, they can. In fact, Diana’s forwardness and her enthusiasm for life allows Greys to become interesting as a character. Up until now he’s been stuck in my head as a dandy, so it’s nice to know there is so much more to him that the surface fluff we’ve had up until now.

So, despite the clunky transitions this story left me reaching for the next in the series with anticipation that Blackheart’s possible entanglement with Lady Violet while going incognito as Greys butler charms me, as Blackheart’s is the cocky gent I’ve been wanting to read about the most.

As before, I do wish GR showed the charmingly illustrated covers by Rachel Pomerleau rather than the male model black and white covers, as the illustrated covers are what drew me to the series in the first place. Not that a book should be solely judged by its cover, but I do admit I wouldn’t have picked these up under the beefcake covers.

He’s even gone so far as to obtain permission to court Lady Isabella, the debutante he’s decided would make an excellent marchioness. He won’t make the mistake of falling in love like his friends. But first, as a favour to his friend Chase the Baron of Chaswick, he’s promised to assist in easing the man’s illegitimate sister Diana’s entrance into society. A trip around a lake in a rowboat and a drive through Hyde Park ought to be enough to help the chit feel welcome. I just loved this fake courtship of opposites. Greys is the arrogant lace wearing aristocrat & Diana is a breath of fresh air full of life. I loved everything about this page turner, the humour of which there was plenty, the attraction which was electric, the verbal banter which was hugely entertaining. The road to their HEA made for an unputdownable read, which I just devoured, now I’m counting the days if not the hours to a butlery duke’s story

I have decided that I LOVE this series too much! I simply adore seeing these cocky gentlemen, so arrogant, so confident, so sure in their beliefs, brought down by love.
In this particular book, I really liked the way the author gave new life to the classic tropes of “duty to the title vs. love match” and “illegitimate child vs. Polite Society”.
Diana and Greys (I won’t reveal his real name, it’s a bit of surprise!) are soul mates because they complete each other. Diana is a breath of fresh air in Lord Greystone’s life: he’s always been too proper, too restrained for his own good. And on the other end Greys helps Diana overcome her fears, her insecurities born of her condition of illegitimate child. But he’s fighting his feelings for her till the very end! I’m sure I said one thing out loud at least once while reading... “Tell her you love her, you stupid man!” Because even when he surrenders to love, he’s doing it all wrong. And Anders is very, very good at describing those key moments of the hero and heroine’s relationship.
This book has everything a fan of historical romance could wish for: passion, wonderful main and side characters, waltzes and fashion (male fashion, this time!). It captivated me and I couldn’t put it down till I finished it! And I look forward to reading the story of the last “cocky gent”... the butler!

Starring The Marquess of Greystone and Miss Diana Jones.

Tropes: Pretend/Fake Courtship, Older Hero/Younger Heroine, Older Brother’s Best Friend, and Peer Hero/Illegitimate Heroine.

Omigosh these two!! Greys and Diana were so freaken delicious!! I love it when it comes as a surprise, to both the heroine and hero, that there’s a buzz of attraction there… and then they try to deny and fight their feelings. Always gives me the giddy-feels every single freaken time.

Diana is a free spirit and Greys tries to follow society’s rules… but he starts to loosen up the more he’s around her. Like, total squee!! I love that they are always touching each other… made their love scenes sizzle!! Le sigh!! These two made me so happy… and I of course ugly cried af!!

Annabelle Anders has put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and wrote another winner. And I can not wait for Blackheart’s story!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

My Star Rating: 5 stars
Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were freaken amazeballs. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will definitely be reading this story over and over and over again!!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a haughty Lord in search of a wife with impeccable credentials will undoubtedly come face-to-face with a willful, impudent totally inappropriate miss. Of course, they will be thrown together by fate and will decide to enact a fake courtship. While they do not suit, there is no doubt of the attraction that comes to be an inconvenience to said haughty Lord.
Lord Greystone knows his duty to his family's reputation and has chosen the most innocuous woman to court and wed. There is no thought of love or romance only of duty and appropriateness. His plans all go out the window when he tried to help his friends sister. Lady Diana and her sisters are illegitimate but their brother the baron has decided to bring them out in society to help them find acceptable husbands.
While Greys and Diana start out knowing there will never be anything between them, they are drawn to each other like iron to a magnet. And the reader can't help but wait to see their amazing Happily Ever After come to pass.

To say I love all these books in this series would be an understatement. Every time I read a story by this author, I feel like I fall for the male lead and the Marquess of Greystone is my new heart throb. I have loved all the men in this series. Diana is Greys’ friends illegitimate half-sister, her brother Chase wants to give Diana and her sister a season even though it will be hard for them because they are illegitimate. Greys decided to help his friend launch his sister by showing her some attention so other men will notice her. Diana does not really like titled men (except her father and brother) she wants to marry someone who does not have a title. What starts out as Greys helping turns into true attraction and love. I enjoyed so much their love story and the chemistry between them was hot. I did enjoy all the people from past books in the series, but you really do not have to read all the books to understand and enjoy this book. But I recommend reading the whole series, you will enjoy every one of them.
I received an ARC for my honest opinion and my honest opinion is read this story you will not be disappointed.
