Autumn has always been one of Connie's favorite times of the year. And this year's no different, with the annual Apple Festival in full swing. With Connie's Cafe celebrating its official opening, nothing is going to spoil this weekend... Except, maybe, murder.
This is the third book in The Connie Cafe Mystery Series, a perfect series for lovers of clean small town mysteries that feature coffee and an amateur sleuth who’s in way over her head.
2.5 stars. It started out really cute but the main character is one of those knows what's best types, even after praying and having all her loved ones telling her not to do something. She was convinced she's the only one that solve a murder and went against what the police told her. She also has a weird relationship with her "best " friend. They were pretty snarky to each other.
Apple Festival time and finally the grand opening of Connie's Cafe but it doesn't go as smoothly as Connie but with Reba sick and Mom coming to the rescue and bigger crowds than expected well it went as well as it could but gave Connie ideas on how to make things run a little better the next day. In the midst of this Connie and Ted go to the Apple Farm with his cousin from out of town and get ready to go through the corn maze. It was getting dark when they started which made the whole thing a little bit spookier but not as much as tripping over a dead body in the maze. Well, the plot thickens and so many twists and turns you hardly know what to expect but in the end the murderer is unmasked. Great read.
I tried to like this book for the autumn vibes, but the Christianity was forced and ham-fisted, the main character incredibly self-righteous. The nail in the coffin of this book was when Connie decided she needed to be a "good influence" on a character who is clearly struggling with myriad difficult life circumstances. She completed centered herself in that moment and I just hated her as a character after that. I DNF'ed. I love a good cozy mystery with it's kind predictable plotline, exaggerated bucolic small town, and stereotypical characters. Escapism is the point. But Connie is just unlikeable.
Good read. Really enjoyed it. The ending was just a wee bit disappointing to me. But, it was probably just me. These three in the series have been wonderful. Engaging, while not requiring a huge amount of thinking. Just enjoying. I read there is a 4th one at least in this series. Maybe in the future I'll give it a try. Thank you again, Maisy, for just a wonderful week and a half of reading!
I liked the continuing challenges faced by the main character, and how she trusts God to help her detection skills. However, Connie always seems to jump into the middle of danger, a concern to her mother and friends. Cute town setting, more of the quirky characters, and the humor of detective Connie, who walks "where angels fear to tread."
I'm starting to love the Connie Cafe series. I liked Autumn and Autopsies though no autopsy was ever mentioned. Connie Cafe once again is investigating the murder of someone and figuring out who, why and how details of the murder. Enjoy this book with a mug of your favorite cup of java!
The main character was real immature and annoying. If I had know this book was based on religion I wouldn’t have picked it up. Overall felt like a Nancy drew knock off and I was being generous giving it 2 stars. Very underwhelming.
I give this book two thumbs up . The mystery plot of this book keeps you wondering which person was the killer . I really liked the sections in the book the provided Prayer in replying on God to help her get through her difficult days in the book. Good read.
I really enjoyed the budding romance of Ted and Connie and how Connie didn't let anyone dissuade her from investing, even when warned to stay out of it. Really getting a kick out of Reba and Connie's mom. We need more gals like that who invest in our happiness.
Connie does it again, Autumn brings on the Apple Festival and Cottage Creek is taken over with tourists, but there's trouble at the orchard and Main street benefits or do they?
The shop has its grand opening, and the corn maze opens up. But what kind of event doesn't include a dead body? Connie's new relationship with her police officer boyfriend is put to the test. She has to learn a new way to relate to her best friend, who is now working for her. For Connie, solving a murder really means saving the people around her.
