Book Flare - The Bridge What would a mother do to give her kids peace and safety in a dangerous new world? What bridges will she be willing to build to make that happen? Build them or burn them, she would do anything for her kid’s future. All Lila wants to do is get her kids far away from the city to her father’s farm where they can rest and be safe from the chaos that has consumed the world. She is shocked beyond belief by the changes he’s made to the property since she was last there for her mother’s funeral. Not only has her childhood home been completely changed but she arrives just as an old feud is kicked up into an all-out war. There are family and community bridges that she will have to build and if that doesn’t work, she’ll not only set them on fire, she’ll blow the damn things up!
Theresa Shaver lives in South Central Alberta Canada. As an avid reader, I used to dream about writing and sharing my own stories with the world. Publishing was a far off and intimidating goal until Amazon opened the gates! I love that I get real feed back from my fans on my books instead of some guy behind a desk who studies market trends. I write to share my dreams with the world and now I can. My first series is a Young Adult Post-apocalypse story. I love writing about the growth of characters faced with such huge challenges and plan to continue future stories in wrecked worlds. It's a new do it yourself world in so many industries so never stop believing in your dreams and do it yourself!
This is the final book in the series and the storyline wrapped everything up nicely. It was, however, slower-paced than the first two books with fewer action scenes. The final 10% of the story will keep readers on the edge of their seats waiting to see if two of the main characters survive after the final battle. The author kept my interest throughout the series and left the door open for a sequel sometime in the future as this series only covered the beginning of the hardship. It would be interesting to see how everyone fared a couple of years in the future.
I was also disappointed in the number of typos found throughout the book. Most are real words but used in the wrong context and missing words. All in all, I'd recommend this series for anyone interested in learning what needs to be done in preparation for an apocalypse.
It's been quite a while since I read the books before this one. With other series (authors) I've had to go back and read some of the previous book. Not with these. Remembered the story line on the first page. Seems like it takes a very good author to make a story stay in the back of the readers mind even though a lot of time has passed since reading previous books in a series as well as many other books read. This author is definitely one of my favorites.
I liked this one too. However, the last chapters felt rushed and incomplete. It gets a star removed for that. You have most of the book described in detail on things like the cabin, garden, etc. but the last few chapters were not. I would have much rather had more of the beginning details left out so the ending wasn’t so deficit in them. Book 2 had I think 60% or so on the children but the last of this had minor mentions. I don’t know if another is in the works or not since you had The End, but it seems unfinished.
Great conclusion to a terrific post apocalyptic trilogy. Lila and her kids are reunited in Calgary and make the long journey to her father’s farm and her childhood home. After a stiff and awkward reunion, they settle into a small cabin on the farm and things start to look up. There are some difficulties with the local mayor and his buddies demanding livestock and food but these soon get sorted out, now Lila has to wonder how long it will be until the refugees from the cities turn up. I
Oh,my! What a fantastic ending to this amazing series. Her husband was such a SOB, just evil. To desert his children when his own daughter fell off her bike in a mob. If not for a kind stranger grabbing her and pushing her and her brother in an entryway. She would have been crushed. Thank God for their determined mother. I am so glad I found this series on Kindle Unlimited. Happy ☺reading 📚!
I loved that Lila and her children have a future that any parent would want in this situation. Family is what the whole series is about. Survival without family is hollow, but when you have family with you everything is worth the fight.
Loved this book. Would like to see Lila and Deck further their relationship.Looking forward to book 3. Made me realize In this unstable environment that you should be prepared.
Wonderful ending for Lila and her kids. Happy ending for all! Great story of survival without graphic violence, highlighting a mother's love and devotion to her children. Each book added to the suspense until it culminates in a tense finale. Great read and series!
This was a well written story about a Solar Flare that created a DIP effect on electronics in the Northern Hemisphere. Good strong characters, plot and scenarios of what could happen. Very entertaining well worth reading.
This was the perfect ending to lilas story. I do think there was much more story to tell, and I'm a little bummed that this was the last book. Overall, still amazing!
