Job holds my favorite chapters in all the Bible. Verse after verse about God’s power and majesty in which God is unrivaled. His words in Job should put us in a state of awe and wonder. How blessed we are to have a creator and God such as He.
He didn’t have to speak to Job but He did; that’s the kind of God He is - one who hears, answers, and draws us to Himself though He doesn’t have to do these things. And God gave Job understanding. We won’t always understand things but when He grants wisdom and understanding it is such a wondrous gift.
Job’s troubles started with something occurring in the spiritual realm, it wasn’t to punish Job, and yet God knew Job would learn, be humbled, and have his relationship strengthened with the Lord through it all. Our troubles can certainly be a direct result of and punishment for our sin but sometimes it’s for learning and growth, even for purposes beyond our understanding, perhaps within the heavenly realm.
Job never fell trap to Satan’s scheme but he certainly said plenty he needed to repent of and the grace the Lord showed Job, even blessing him beyond measure after it all...wow. We can be terrible children but God’s love and grace has no end for those who are repentant.
We’ve all had a wrong view of our trials and of God and His character. Let the riches of Job help bring you into understanding and truth.
The book of Job is both cosmic and grounded. We see behind the scenes of suffering, and we get a better glimpse of God. In The Book of Job by Alabaster, my eyes have been widened and my heart has been captivated to find faith in the face of trials.
Serious Suffering
Job is a dark book, and Alabaster does an amazing job to combine the full text of the Biblical book with captivating photography. It’s moody and atmospheric, yet felt grounded in the seriousness of suffering.
Majestic and Epic
Job is also an epic book, and I sensed the majesty of God and his unfathomable mind. God is wise and reigns over all. He sees the smallest details and moves the mightiest of men. He is to be respected and feared.
Love and Trust
But God is also to be loved. And when Alabaster combines their art with God’s Word, it can be a deeply emotional experience. My faith is strengthened after reading this book. It helped me move my heart towards God. And to trust him through the trials.
My copy of The Book of Job by Alabaster was complimentary through Alabaster’s influencer program.
Though the Book of Job may seem dark to some, it is an essential book in the Bible. Alabaster does an incredible job capturing the mood, atmosphere, and context through themes of suffering, love, trust, and trials. God’s unyielding faithfulness is displayed in and through Job as he navigates within the trials of his life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Alabaster’s influencer Program. Personally this book has reminded me to continue to trust in the Lord even when dark and uncertain seasons arise. Thanks again for such a wonderful addition to my library of the beautiful Alabaster Co. Bible Collection!
These books are beautiful, and they are a nice departure from a picture-less Bible. However, I find the text size on the small size, and the preciousness of the volume makes it hard to mark up, which is what I do all the time in my other Bibles.
