You can take the girl out of the city but can you take the city out of the girl?

When trekking in the Amazon rainforest, most normal people must overcome their fears of the unknown such as dangerous animals and not returning home in one piece. For city girl Grace Brooks, she must overcome her fears of no makeup and going to the loo. And can she survive two weeks without her hairdryer?

When Grace is offered the chance of a lifetime, to test out brand new camping equipment in the rainforest - she finds it easy to turn down. After all, who in their right mind would want to trek around the muddy rainforest for two weeks in a tent? But when the offer becomes too good to be true and even her friends and family doubt her ability she finds herself determined to prove them wrong.

And who knows - there’s always the chance of love when it’s just her and a hunky Brazilian guide. Except, he’s not quite what she expects and when she becomes hopelessly lost, life becomes a little hairy.

When Patrick Kirk’s holiday is interrupted to complete the most absurd mission of his life - to rescue some bimbo lost in the rainforest, he’s less than impressed and determined to despise the silly woman for ruining his holiday. But as he closes in on her and thanks to his new tech, he catches transmissions of her daily ramblings. Ramblings she has no idea are being aired. As she talks about life, death, feelings and lack of sex, he finds himself drawn to the woman - especially when she announces she’s going to sleep with the first man she sees.

When he finally catches up with her, Grace is less than impressed with her neanderthal rescuer. Patrick too, is less than impressed with the high-maintenance whiner. Stuck together for at least a week, can they learn to get on or are they destined to kill each other?

I've really enjoyed this one - a light-hearted, fun novel was just what I needed!

Grace Brooks - or Grace B, as she has styled herself - left her marketing job and set up her own business. What she needs now is a BIG job to put her name on the map. Grace is stunned when her first major client proposes to send her into the Amazon rainforest; a city girl at heart she can't think of anything worse than trekking and what's more, they expect her to camp out. No way! However, the firm have decided that Grace is their girl and the offer becomes too good to refuse. What has she got herself into? With dreams of a hunky Brazilian guide, she sets off but the trip turns out not to be so well planned after all . . .

What a hilarious read! Just imagine any of the glossy, not-a-hair-out-of-place 'social influencers' forgoing all their worldly essentials - luxuries to you and me - and you'll be half-way to getting the idea. Even though I've always lived in the country, I share Grace's horror of living in a tent and giggled for a good part of this, although it's not all fun and games. Beautifully written and well planned with great characterisation, this is one very amusing novel which I'm very happy to recommend and give 4.5*.

I couldn't resist this when I read the summary! I want this to be a movie!

The story follows Grace Brooks who is offered a deal of a lifetime that could change her financial situation for life. All she has to do is spend 2 weeks in the Amazon with guide to test out new camping equipment. How could one say no? However, things go wrong and now she is lost, her guide gone, and she has no idea how to survive. Here enters in Patrick Kirk. He was on holiday but he is dragged in to save Grace.

Oh Grace. I don't blame you for doing this journey...especially because you thought you would be nice and safe with your guide. But I would have to turn it down. I love camping...but for like a couple of days. No thank you. I guess you can call me a shallow modern woman.

It took a minute for me to like Patrick but after a certain scene I loved him! He was an asshat at first, but can you blame him? I would be mad too if I had to go save some dumb girl.

This was funny but I was worried for our girl. The wilderness can be scary! But yes - this was funny and I just wanted Patrick and Grace to fall in love. There was lust and the love took a while. Which worked for them. They are complete opposites!

The ending had me on edge. I had no idea how everything was going to work out! Eeeee. I would be so tempted to sue that dang computer. Grr.

My only issue with our story is that it was too short. I wanted more time with Grace and Patrick. I felt like we didn't get to see them together as much.

Overall, I really liked this book. I do wish that it was longer so we could have more time with Grace and Patrick, BUT I enjoyed the entire story overall. They were fun together! I could totally see this being a movie. I would watch that! I'll give this 4 stars.

“It was all very beauty and the beast – with her starring as both roles”

That about sums up Grace’s experience in the ‘jungle’ as she calls it.

Grace complains a lot however I enjoyed the writer’s metaphors.

Firstly I would like to say thank you to the author for sending me this novel in exchange for an honest review. I only ever do these if I enjoy the sound of the novel.

From the start of this novel, I loved it. I always try to relate to the main character in some way. Grace’s personality is strong and relatable. I mean, a ‘high-maintenance’ girl going camping? I also enjoyed the fact she’s working in marketing in a business field as that’s of my interest as well. Grace and her best friend Olivia’s conversations where a joy to read and made me laugh.

It’s a really interesting plot that had me wondering what’s going to happen next? I want to be in the know.

When Grace is lost in the rainforest we hear her thoughts along with Patrick who really annoyed me at the start as he was so judgemental and arrogant. As he got to know Grace more he started to like her. It was interesting watching them both develop.

Grace learns to not be so superficial needing everything in the rain forest as she learns to go without and actually appreciate nature.

I really enjoyed this read it was entertaining and I found myself laughing at times. The author’s writing style has you wanting to know what happens next and those are the best kind of reads. You must read this if you are looking for an entertaining read! That ending was so cute.

Thank you Voracious Readers for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I'm still new at this reviewing thing, but I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved this book. Grace was thrown in an unknown situation because of her job and instead of falling down and letting someone find her, she worked hard to live and survive out in the rain forest. She was a very strong woman for that and I loved her. I loved Patrick too. He was the typical hard man, but he definitely had some layers that were fun to find out about. Their dynamic was so cute and I definitely squealed a couple times when they were getting to know each other. I'm not going to lie, I teared up a bit too with Delmo. Overall I loved it so much and I would definitely recommend this book to others.

This was good, well written with good characters and descriptions. I don’t think we were supposed to like the spoilt, high maintenance Grace at the start and I did find her quite unbelievably naive. Surely you’d do some research? I had warmed to her by the end though.
There was a bit of a continuity error which I noticed immediately as when she was found she lost her backpack but then a little later there is a description where “she took out her Kindle. A solar powered charging port on her backpack meant even her precious kindle was fully charged.” Even if she’d used her rescuers back pack she surely shouldn’t still have the kindle.
Apart from that it was a great story.

Really enjoyed this story. Fun and enjoyable but not you’re usual Romcom! A woman heads to a jungle as part of her new job when suddenly she learns a lot more about herself. She also doesn’t fall in love with him! Will look out for more by this author.

Recommend on a cold winter’s day. I couldn’t put it down. Not a literary classic just a lot of fun to read.
