STORY:
We will just get this part out of the way first; if you are not a fan of affairs and or cheating in any capacity, then this will not be for you. With that being said, I was split with this story. First, I’ll start with Alex and Marisha. Out of something so dark blossoms a beautiful love affair. Alex is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Marisha, married or not. Alex was devious and cunning in the way he went after Marisha. This relationship was so taboo and forbidden, but you are unable to look away because you are seeing two people growing from what they once were. Which is Marisha coming out of her wounded caged and opening up and giving more of herself and Alex and his whoring ways haha. The climax of their relationship, I was unable to look away as you are watching their relationship come full circle, and you really see what was going on in Marisha’s marriage. What had me divided was the mafia aspect of this story. It was still dark, but I felt like I got 20% mafia and 80% Alex and Marisha. The opening scene gave me something to look forward to with the mafia aspect, but I felt as though the mafia aspect was more Alex’s dad and not so much Alex.


CHEMISTRY:
Alex’s and Marisha’s chemistry was good. At one point, I thought to myself; they were acting like horny sexting teenagers, that’s how much they couldn’t get enough of each other. But the heart wants what the heart wants, however, it can have it. Alex was so consumed with Marisha, wanting and needing her, that’s all who consumes his thoughts the more he saw her. This made their chemistry intense and good to read for me.


SECONDARY CHARACTERS
Can I just say that Alex’s parents, dad is ruthless, but I love their love. Can we get a prelude book of the parents’ romance? Secondary characters. I love when authors tease you enough that they make you forget the original story/characters because you are so caught up in the other secondary characters and their interaction. Katya, Alex’s twin sister and Nikolai, Alex’s best friend. Their story will be next and that’s not a love hate relationship, that more looks like a hate hate with a sprinkle of sexual tension relationship.


Overall, I still loved this story even with the taboo and forbidden theme. There were things I wanted more of to balance out the story, but I enjoyed the love story of Alex and Marisha.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

From the beginning of this book I wanted happiness for Marisha. She was unwittingly forced into an arranged marriage with a violent, cruel older man that’s the epitome of domestic violence - verbally, physically, and sexually abusive. Marisha was his property not his wife and oh how I loathed that despicable human.

Alexander is the Bratva Prince, the soon to be King, and a self proclaimed “drive by fuck” that doesn’t kiss or partake in the same woman twice. The perpetual playboy, he’s not looking to settle down until he sees Marisha. And damn the things these two do once they come together makes you see why illicit affairs are so hot!!

I don’t want to give too much away, because this story is best read with the allure in place. I will say, don’t shy away from this book because cheating leaves a bad taste in your mouth. This book is much more than a simple troupe/trigger. It’s about love, family, obligation, trust, truths, and above all else faith.

And the way the characters for book 2: Twisted Princess were integrated into the story left me wishing their book was already available. Alexander’s twin Katya is going to give his best friend Nikolai hell. Their frenemy-flirting vibes were insane!!

Deviant Prince was a great read from Claire C Riley and Elie Meadows, there was so much I loved about this book! Claire and Ellie managed to achieve a balance in the story where the Mafia aspects of the characters livelihood did not overpower the romance element of the novel. The world didn't expand to include numerous secondary characters that boggle your mind remembering who is who. The story had clarity and kept the Hero Alexander and the heroine Marisha front and centre.

Alexander is the next in line to rule the Russian Mafia, a man who likes his women ready and willing but when he sets his eyes upon Marisha he doesn't see anyone but her. Determined to have her whatever the cost he sets things up for their paths to cross repeatedly; but he gets more than he bargained for.

Marisha is an outcast to the Mafia, married to a man much older than her, Ivan is an abusive husband who see's Marisha as nothing more than a gorgeous woman on his arm and in his bed. Yet Ivan is the reason she is alive and not killed like her parents were. Meeting Alexander changes everything for her but how is she going to survive her husbands wrath?

Alexander and Marisha's chemistry was electric from the start. What stood out for me in this book was that magnetic pull between them, the longing Alexander has for Marisha and his determination to have her. The steam between them was not gratuitous, it was well placed and the settings their one on one scenes took place is provided a stunning visual in my head as I read them.

Alexander is an Alpha male in every way I expected him to be, yet he held a tenderness towards Marisha when it was needed he respected her, but he knew how to push her when he needed control. Marisha was the perfect match for Alexander for me, she had spirit but at the same time felt as though she had lost herself to the life that has been forced upon her. But as the novel progresses on from the broken moment you see her in at the start, you begin to understand just how strong she is to survive the marriage she is locked in. As a heroine I really liked her.

A quick shout out to Nik and Katya they definitely caught my attention as secondary characters and the sneak peek into book 2 has me wanting more right now! This was definitely a book that sucked me in, I would have liked a little more of Alexander's Alpha ways and the story wasn't as dark as I expected it to be. That said I think it was perfect for the story that was told.

Deviant Prince was a well written seamless mafia romance that emphasised the romance and elevated that with a touch of a forbidden relationship and a suspense storyline that kept up the high stakes risk factor Alexander and Marisha's love story held. If readers are new to either of these Authors I think this book is a great place to start.

Claire C. Riley and Ellie Meadows wrote one heck of an exciting and dramatic and intense and captivating story in Deviant Prince! It was dark and violent - exactly what I expect a mafia romance to be! Alexander is the bad boy mafia prince who falls for someone he shouldn't have - Marisha. Yet, he won't stop until he gets a taste of her. Marisha is married to someone in the mafia family - the marriage loveless and full of abuse - so she knows she shouldn't get involved with Alexander. But he makes her feel something, and to me that is what gave her the courage to take the risk to be with him.

Highly recommend picking this one up! And I can't wait until the next book in the duet - I just know it's going to be amazing!!

This was everything a Mafia book should be. I was gripped from the very first page . Alexander is the perfect Alpha and all you imagine a Bratva boss would be . When he sees Marisha at a party events set in motion and a future he didn’t even relise he wanted starts to happen only 1 thing stands in his way her husband and fellow Bratva Boss . The story that unwinds is gritty and dark and a must read can’t wait for the concluding part , bring on book 2.

This was so good. It's about Alexander and Marisha. Alexander is mafia prince and what he wants, he gets. But this time it's not that simple. He wants Marisha but she's forbidden because she's married. Her marriage is unhappy but she didn't have any other choice. I liked both of these characters.

Deviant Prince is a fantastic collaboration between Claire. C. Riley and Ellie Meadows you can expect plenty of violence and bloodshed it truly had me captivated.

I think I lost a piece of my soul to Marisha and Alexander.

Marisha is apart of the mafia world she knows how it works but she's tired of her marriage and the abuse at the hands of her husband.

Alexander loves his lifestyle the status, blood and money but when he find Marisha he knows she's forbidden but the desire to not take her is too great and who doesn't want a man like Alexander to want her, lust for her.

So many beautiful things happen between them and as a reader you're left craving more of their story but will lies and secrets tear them apart?

I loved the devious prince it was dark, and sexy and my goodness the book cover is HOT!!! I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was another solid read from Claire C. Riley that was enjoyable for all the right reasons. Mafia? Check. Alpha antihero? Check. A nice splash of gratuitous violence? Check. * Me: Puffs out my chest and dons my imaginary Maria Von Trapp pinafore while belting out ‘My Favourite Things’ at the top of my voice.* Deviant Prince was a steamy and immensely satisfying read with an intense, all-encompassing love that bordered an addiction. With just the right amount of darkness throughout the story, there was also plenty of heat and steam sizzling off the pages as the authors gave me a likeable couple to cheer for from the sidelines. The book had great build up around the forbidden relationship and with a bit of old-fashioned betrayal thrown in for good measure, you had a great book with just the right amount of angst and drama. It was a fairly quick and easy read that I couldn’t put it down as the 4:30am bedtime will attest to. While the mafia forbidden romance isn’t a new trope, this story still packs a punch and gives me exactly what I’m looking for.

I’ll mention straight from the start that although this is a duet, each book is a standalone. I know some readers pull their hair out or won’t purchase a novel when a book ends in a cliffhanger or you need to wait for the second instalment to come out, but I’m happy to report that this isn’t the case here. Book 1 is on Alexander, the heir to the Bratva crown, and Book 2 is his twin sister’s story. I’m assuming elements from the first book will cross over into the second, but you definitely get a Happy for Now.

While forbidden romances aren’t normally my thing, mafia definitely is and the two danced together nicely here. In some ways this book was like a car crash (in a good way. Can you have a good car crash? I’m going to say, yes). You knew what was going to happen but you’re along for the ride anyway. I really liked both main characters. Alexander was exactly what I love in a mafia romance lead: intense, unapologetic, jealous and possessive, confident and a king of the criminal underworld who managed to be quite liberal and accepting of women (aka, not a douche). Marisha is in a loveless marriage to a cruel man who views her as property. She is completely under his control and lives life walking on eggshells. She’s young, beautiful and alone, branded as damaged goods after her parents were killed by the Bratva for turning traitor. She’s a perfect mix of vulnerable and strong, which sounds like an oxymoron, but it works. After locking eyes with Alexander at a family party, they’re drawn to each other. While they know nothing should happen, they’re each other’s addiction and can’t say no.

To be honest, I didn’t know how I’d go with the marriage/cheating aspect of it as this is often a no-no for me. The authors dealt with it well. There were few descriptions of husband and wife business regarding Marisha and Ivan (her hubby) and even though Alex was a player, this took a seat on the sidelines as soon as he met his queen. As a result, the cheating factor was a non-issue for me and the book managed to focus on Alex and Marisha needing each other and how they’d make it happen. My only slight negative is that there was a tiny bit of repetition around the elements of the trope, e.g. Marisha’s parents were traitors, being allowed to marry into the Bratva after being tainted by betrayal was an issue, she was dancing with death being attracted to Alex, he’s the mafia prince. You get the picture. It didn’t worry me too much and I know other readers will appreciate it. This is just a personal preference.

Overall, this is my kind of book. Over the top enough to be entertaining and enable me to escape for a bit but not so much that it’s ridiculous. It was paced well with solid secondary characters to back up Alex and Marisha. I especially loved Nikolas and Katya and the love/hate banter they had going on so I’m looking forward to the next book which is their story.

Wanting something you can’t have makes it even more desirable, having it just once should satisfy the need, right? Unfortunately she is addictive and just one taste is all it takes for him to be hooked. Heir to the throne of the Bratva, reputation is important as the families all look to him for direction. Control is power and the throne is a prize many want but only one can own. Can he balance the needs of his family, the expectation of his birth right with his unquenchable need for the forbidden?

This is a fast paced lust turn to love story that is filled with danger and need. He is arrogant and cocky but soon realises she is more than another conquest and finds himself in deep. She is a broken doll that has been worn down by her reality and the never ending monotony of her daily torture at the hands of her husband. They live in a cut throat, dog eat dog world where a man owns his wife and yet she dreams of freedom and something more. Can the Bratva Prince deliver her from hell?

I really enjoyed this story, it was easy to slip in between the pages and become lost in their world. Seeped in violence and tinged with sex I read this all in one go. Looking forward to the second part, the spark between those two added levity to this story and made me chuckle.

Deviant Prince is everything I look for in a mafia story, the storyline is strong and keeps you engaged your left turning the pages as fast as you can to see what's going to happen! Once I started I couldn't put it down. This is a dark and dangerous story of loyalty and lies , but within these lies is a hot and steamy forbidden love story that definitely gets you a little hot!!!

Wow...starts out with a bang and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout anticipating what was going to happen next (especially with the forbidden aspect of the H/h relationship).

Alexander (H) and Marisha (h) had a "lust at first sight" encounter that quickly turned into more than either of them expected. This truly worked for their story as they were each exactly what the other needed.

This was a fast paced read (which I love) that had the right amount of action, steam, and angsty fun banter to keep you engrossed in the story. I loved that Alexander's Mom and Dad had and showed a real love for each other and their children....which helped to show them all as a true family unit (loving and caring for each other) despite the harsher aspects of living and being raised in the Russian mafia.

I can't wait for Katya and Nik's story...it feels like it's going to be explosive. Plus anxious to learn more about this family.

Wow! Intense and suspenseful story that holds some abuse and builds to an exciting climax, one that really has you holding your breath a few times. Alexander is everything expected by his family but he also has another side to him and once he meets Marisha it comes to the fore. I loved them together, the chemistry and sparks had the pages igniting, but it brought a softness to them both as well. This story has some twists and turns, just enough to keep it interesting, the male characters are powerful and very alpha but don't discount the women as being all soft and compliant, they to have their moments and believe me when I say those really count in the scheme of the story. I can't wait for part two because I think it will be fireworks at dawn.

A brilliant mafia story, this book was amazing. It’s everything a mafia story should be, intense and full of blood, death and money. But behind the death and destruction is a hot and steamy romance.

Alexander is a Bratva prince, the next inline to lead the underworld. A playboy who loves fast cars and fast women. I instantly loved him because who doesn’t love a bad boy.

Marisha is a Bratva outcast married to a much older man who saved her from being killed after her parent’s betrayal. I loved them together, their chemistry, for me, lit the pages on fire.

It was an amazing start to the duet, I was gripped from the first page. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book. I can’t recommend it enough.

Deviant Prince, by Claire C. Riley and Ellie Meadows, is the first installment of the Bratva Mafia Twins Duet. It’s the story of Alexander and Marisha, a couple whose love story we feel has been written in the stars.

In the first chapters of the book we get to know more of the Bratva ways and how they deal with business through the heir to the Vasiliev Kingdom’s POV, Alexander.
Then we get to meet Marisha, a fragile and resigned woman, who’s accepted that life is not about being happy, but only about surviving. That until the moment she is almost giving up and gets to meet this man, who is able to free her from the numbness she forces herself to live with in order to get through the days.

Their relationship is pure fire and although one might feel it happens too fast, it is only fair that this woman who’s never had any kind of love from a man almost instantly falls for this prince, who is also shaken by how this woman makes him feel.

This is my first time with Claire and Ellie and I really enjoyed how they managed to give us a hero who has a boyish side to him that often brought a smile to my face.
Also, they really blended well together and this is a well paced book, with a dose of suspense that has readers wondering how the events are gonna develop.

Kudos for the secondary characters who really got my attention and had me craving for more!
Can’t wait to read Nikolai and Katya’s story which’s releasing on Feb 25th!

I am new to this genre (I’m usually addicted to fantasy and fluffy romcoms) but there’s was something so gripping about this dark, intense Mafia romance! It gripped me so hard that I read it all in one sitting and ended up finishing the book at 4am!
I’m a huge fan of Claire C Riley & Eli Meadows and was lucky enough to receive an arc in exchange for an honest review. But Seriously guys! You will love this book.

What an AMAZING start to this duet, from the first page I knew this was going to be a book that I would love and I wasn't wrong.....

Alexander vasiliev was a bratva prince, he was a playboy who loved fast cars and even faster woman, untill he saw the forbidden fruit, something he knew that he wanted but could never have or face harsh consequences, but as you know when you want something you can't have you crave it all the more and he is always used to getting what he wants.

I instantly loved him because who doesn't love a bad boy who lives by his own rules whilst trying not to step out of the line that his dad has set him.

Marisha is a timid little soul who married a brute, everything she knows of is gone and she's just trying to survive one day at a time in her new hell. Untill she locks eyes with the one person she should not be looking at, she knows what will happen if she's caught staring at anyone else other than her husband.

It was insta love for me with this book, mafia at its best, it draws you into a world full of blood, death and money, I couldn't put it down, behind death and destruction lies a hot and steamy romance.

I cant wait to see what these ladies bring with twisted princess because damn!! Im here for it.

This is a really good collaboration between Claire who I've read before and Ellie who is new to me. I love Mafia romance books that straddle the line between the darkness and the passion and this story achieved that. I felt the story flowed easily and delivered an action packed and emotional read. I enjoyed getting to know all sides of Alexander and Marisha. It is always fun to read a strong character give into the one thing they've avoided at all costs. The story has twists and turns that keep the reader guessing with a varied cast of secondary charcters but not too many that they distract from the main storyline.

OMG... this book was outstanding! This is the first book I've read by author Riley or Meadows but I will be reading the next book in this duet. I was hooked from the very beginning. This is a dark mafia romance. Alexander Vasiliev and Marisha Zolotov were complicated characters. Alexander follows his father becoming the King, the godfather of the Russian mafia. Marisha is paying for the sins of her parents betrayal of the mafia. This book offers originality, action and adventure, romance, hot and steaminess, and unpredictability. I can hardly wait for the next book in this duet, Twisted Princess.

Good storyline

I thought that this was an excellent read. I found myself intrigued and enticed as the gripping story played out. I do recommend that you pay attention to the warning that this is a dark and intense read. There is stuff here that will be triggers for some, simply too much for others and for some a hard no. So please make an informed choice before buying/reading this book. I felt consumed by Alexander and Marisha's tale of danger and desire. The powerful feelings, the nerve-wracking tension and tension filled drama kept me on edge and craving more. If you like your books dark and delicious you need to grab a copy and dive in. I'm so glad I did and I can't wait for book two! This is my forthright, elective review.
