She is expected to be dutiful, to become a doting wife and mother.
But Katya has her own plans.
Watching her brother fight for love has given Katya hope that she too can marry who she wants. That her desires can win over her duties.
Now, if only she could convince her body not to want the man it wants.
A man she fights with constantly.
A man she loathes.
A Bratva soldier whose life revolves around murder, mayhem, and madness.

STORY:
How I felt about book 1, I felt about book 2. This I would categorize as enemies to lover/ forbidden romance. Like book 1, this was 20% mafia and 80% everything else. With saying that, even without it feeling hardcore mafia, the enemies to lovers/forbidden aspect read so good for me.

The bickering between Katya and Nik felt ok, and that’s only because I got a taste of their dynamic in book 1 already. I would recommend reading book 1 to maximize enjoyment. However, as this book progresses and these two connect, all hell broke loose, and it read so good. The climax of this story had me on the edge.

CHEMISTRY:
Sexually, both Katya’s and Nik’s chemistry read pleasantly good. I love the build up between both characters, especially Nik when he is realizing he cares more for Katya than he should. Of course Nik is a man wh** so it was good seeing him fall.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS
Alex and Marisha from book 1 are back, however, Alex has more of a presence in the story than Marisha. He is Katya’s twin brother and Nik’s best friend. I said this before in my first review for book 1 and I will say it again. To the authors, this closes out this series. However, Eduard and Evelina, Alex’s and Katya’s parents needs their own novella story. Dad is gangsta, and he has genuine love for his wife, Evelina. They had an arranged marriage and I want to know more about their story before their children as you made them sound so appealing and interesting.

Overall, a good forbidden romance (not taboo). I wouldn’t say it’s hardcore mafia but more mafia adjacent.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

Boy oh boy do these two love to tease and fight with each other but what's the saying " There is a fine line between love and hate". This story is tense and full of angst, not just with Nik and Katya, there is also tension with other characters. Emotions run high throughout, there's is a suspenseful build up towards the end that has you wondering if things will ever go right. Some violence, come on it wouldn't be a Mafia story without. There is also grafic sexual content. Well written with a fast and exciting plot, characters, most of which it's easy to love while others make you want to put a bullet between their eyes. Katya is feisty independent and definitely doesn't tow the line where her parents are concerned, then they should accept that of their daughter as she has grown up in the lifestyle but not to be subservient to anyone. There are some issues as part of the plot that for some it may not be the right kind of story, but to be honest it's a small portion and doesn't play out to far or for very long. I found myself gripped, tense even a little heart broken in places as this sucked me in and held me to the end. Started 20/2/21 finished 20/2/21

We pick up moments after Deviant Prince ended, so if you haven’t read book 1 go read it!! You won’t regret getting to know Alexander and Marisha, while also experiencing the hateship that is Katya and Nikolai.

Ok so wow!! Took me a few days to process and I’m so sad my time with these characters has ended. The sexual tension between Katya and Nikolai had been building all their lives, no matter what they chose to tell themselves they were fated, destined, and 100% meant-to-be. Add in a little forced proximity, courtesy of Alex, and FINALLY their repressed attraction bubbled to the surface.

But let me backtrack for a bit, last book we got to experience the bromance that Alex and Nik had. These two were inseparable to the point of habitual foursomes, I mean literally everything was done as a pair!! But when the heart finds its other half within someone else things change. And Marisha is now Alex’s everything, as is his new responsibility as the future King.

We get to see Nik mourned the loss of Alex, not through a physical loss but an emotional one. He mildly resents Marisha for stealing his wingman. I didn’t expect the feeling brought forth by the absence of their connection. Its similar to what children go through when their parents divorce - anger, hostility, rebellion. Add to it the feelings of being demoted from a position of power, loosing the influence that came from being Alex’s right hand, and the sudden obligation to marry...the heartache leaves you pondering things you may have never thought about.

Have you ever watched that Heath Ledger movie, A Knight’s Tale, anyway... in the beginning of the movie the father says to the son that you can do anything, you can even change your stars. That exact sentiment was shining the entire time I read this story. Nikolai isn’t willing to let go of the girl he’s loved for more than 18 years. He will change his destiny and change his stars. And Katya, a woman who was raised to be strong and independent, refuses to settle for an arranged and loveless marriage. And settle they do not!!

But I can’t end this without mentioning that RED WEDDING!! Definitely not what I was expecting but I loved it. I especially loved seeing how Kayla stood up for herself. But the moment that stole my heart was when Nikolai told Katya about the wedding she deserved. A memory so old, Katya didn’t know anyone remembered.

This author duo needs to work together again. They come together in phenomenal ways.

TWISTED PRINCESS is the second instalment the contemporary, adult BORN TO DARKNESS-BRATVA TWINS erotic, dark, Mafia duet co-authored by Claire C Riley and Ellie Meadows. This is Bratva Mafia princess Katya Vasiliev, and Bratva soldier and her brother’s best friend / right hand man Nikolai Markov’s story line. TWISTED PRINCESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Katya and Nikolai) with an epilogue in third person, TWISTED PRINCESS follows the tempestuous relationship between Bratva Mafia princess Katya Vasiliev, and Bratva soldier, and her brother’s best friend and right hand man Nikolai Markov. Nikolai Markov and Alexander Vasiliev have been best friends for most of their lives but Alexander found love with Marisha Zolotov, leaving Nikolai lost without his wingman for wild nights of drunken debauchery but Nikolai’s contempt for Alexander’s twin sister Katya Vasiliev barely masks a palpable sexual attraction that burns hotter than the sun on their vacation in the Fiji Islands. A family vacation is about to turn deadly when Katya quickly discovers that her father has arranged the introduction of several men in an effort to marry off our heroine to the highest bidder. Refusing to abide by her father’s orders, Katya runs off with our story line hero only to place Nikolai in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the back and forth, impassioned and intense relationship between Nikolai and Katya, and the potential fall-out as Katya will be forced into marriage with a man she does not love.

Katya Vasiliev is a bit of an spoiled, wild child, and in this she is out to prove she doesn’t need any man to control her life but Katya’s father is about to arrange a marriage in an effort to tighten his hold on the Bratva crown, and our heroine refuses to tow the line for the sake of the family. Nikolai Markov has always considered himself a part of the Vasiliev family but hateful words spoken in anger place Nikolai firmly in the position of soldier and guard. Having never considered about his own happily ever after, Nikolai is blindsided by the jealousy and rage he feels towards not only his best friend but the woman with whom he will fall in love.

The relationship between Nikolai and Katya is a best friend’s sister/ enemies to lovers wherein Nikolai struggles to control his attraction to his best friend’s twin sister. Both stubborn to the end, Nikolai and Katya are infuriatingly passionate in their anger and their lust for one another, lust that is about to threaten our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and aggressive.

The colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters include Bratva Crown prince Alexander Vasiliev and his fiancé Marisha Zolotov; Katya and Alexander’s parents, and current reigning couple of the Russian Bratva- Eduard and Evelina Vasiliev; and several suitors for Katya’s hand in marriage.

TWISTED PRINCESS is a story of family, power, perception and control; relationships and friendships; entitlement and provocation; acceptance and love. The premise is provocative and edgy; the romance is energetic and intense; the characters are spirited and impassioned.

Twisted Princess was a book I was impatiently waiting for after reading Deviant Prince, and I was not disappointed! Any lovers of the brothers best friend or enemies to lovers tropes is going to love this book!

The story is set during a family vacation to Fiji where the planning for Alex and Marisha's wedding will begin (This is the couple from Deviant Prince). So of course this means sun, sea, sand and sex right? Nikolai is feeling a little lost without his wingman and best friend Alex to drink the night away surrounded by lust and sin and ends up sharing a condo with his best friends little sister and Mafia Princess Katya.

Katya isn't a woman to be messed with she is fiercely independent, confident and embraces her sexuality, she doesn't want to be placed in the demure, subservient box she is supposed to fit into. What grabbed my attention and quickly had me invested in this story was Nik and Katya's chemistry, it is INSANE!!! They have that mean, teasing banter and they know exactly what to say and do to make each other hurt. It's clear from the start that there is also a mutual desire burning between them that both Hero and heroine know they can't act upon for fear of causing an uproar within the Bratva family.
"That's the second time you have bitten me Kitty Kat" I called after her, "Just remember, paybacks a bitch"

The writing from Claire C Riley and Ellie Meadows is seamless, the novel is well paced and it's easy to be consumed by this tropical enemies to lovers romance. The untamed rivalry and heated tension between Katya and Nik is playful with a vicious edge to it that's explosive.
"Our bodies hummed as we stood so near to each other. A mixture of hate and lust"

When another complication comes into the mix and Katya is forced to meet with suitors for the arranged marriage her parents are setting up for her, Nik's possessive side begins to show itself and things between the pair step up another level.

Twisted Princess is a book I cannot recommend highly enough and I will stand and shout about it from the rooftop, I just adored everything about these two characters. When the Bratva family traditions come into play it amps up the angst, the danger and the gut punches keep rolling in taking the book to a violent and nail biting climax. I am really excited to see other readers discover this book and enjoy it just as much as I did.

"Katya Vasiliev isn't your typical Bratva Princess, and she doesn't need saving."

Or does she? From the moment Katya was born, her future was mapped out for her. It was always known that she would marry and have children in order for the Vasiliev bloodline to continue. However, Katya has never done things the way they "should" be done. She doesn't let anyone walk over her, control her, or command her. Not even her mother, though try as she may.

Nikolai Markov, her brother's best friend and brother in arms. He has hated Katya (and vice versa) for as long as they can remember. They torture each other, make jokes at each other's expense. What would happen if that lined were to be blurred? What happens when those lines change? What happens when you realize that things you thought you knew, changed in almost an instant but you know it can never happen? No matter how you both may feel?

Read Twisted Princess: Born to Darkness. This is the 2nd book in the Bratva Mafia Twins series. It would serve well to read Deviant Prince: Born to Darkness first, in order to get a better idea of how things are going, and why things pan out the way they do! Claire and Ellie have done it once again. The way these two authors have come together and made these two characters so realistic and lovable is amazing. They bring so much emotion and warmth (or coldness) to these characters. I love every second of the roller coaster they put my emotions through while reading Katya's story. I didn't want it to end! I couldn't put it down!

After the end of book 1 in the duet, I just knew that I needed a story for Nikolai and Katya. The chemistry and tension between them was off the charts, and in Twisted Princess.......it was even more fiery and passionate between them! I loved the back and forth game they played, as it just ramped up the sexual chemistry that was always there to a higher level, and when it finally boiled over - hot, hot, hot! They still didn't quite realize at the time, the true extent of their feelings for one another, which considering that her father was arranging suitors for her.......kinda complicated the situation between them. But once Nikolai realized how deep his feelings were for Katya, he would try and nothing to make sure her family didn't ignore the warning signs with the man chosen for her, no matter what the consequences he would ultimately face.

Highly recommend picking this one up! You won't be disappointed!!

I love, love, loved Katya. Like girl crushing on her soooo hard. Nik and Katya have insane chemistry. It was obvious in Alex’s book but damn, it’s straight fire in their book. I couldn’t put this book down. I love their journey, it was full of banter and insults but it works for them. It made the build-up even more explosive. It was definitely hot... I was so giddy when they finally got it on!! Yass! I recommend this book to peeps who like organized crime but with it in the background as romance is in the forefront. But daymn, if you like a strong woman then this one is for you. Katya is hot af!

I loved this book and I couldn't put it down. Katya and Nik have know each other since they were kids. They were always teasing each other and more now that Katya's brother found love. It wasn't easy for Nik when his best friend fell in love. Katya and Nik were perfect for each other and they realized it almost too late. Her parents wanted her to marry some rich guy who would be perfect for the family but not for her. I'm glad that Nik didn't gave up and he fought for her.

All through the first book you can feel the sexual tension between Nik and Katya and I couldn't wait for their story.

The build up is so intense, there's a lot of conflict between what they are feeling and the laws of their world and what they know has to be. They have to figure out not only if what they have is real but if it is worth blowing up their entire world.

Nik sees her and stands up for her when it seems like she's invisible to everyone else, he fights for her until the very end. It's a beautiful love story and a beautiful ending

Twisted Princess is Book Two in the Bratva Mafia Twins series. If you haven’t read Book 1, I think you can get away with reading this one as a standalone, but personally I’d start with the first one because it sets up the family and you get to meet the very tasty mafia prince, Alex, who meets his love in Deviant Prince. If you’re a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, you’ll enjoy this one. While harbouring a deep attraction for each other, Katya and Nik’s animosity hits you hard and fast. They live to taunt, tease and hurt each other, knowing exactly what buttons to press. As the line between love and hate becomes more and more blurred between the two, things begin to change in their underworld kingdom and they realise they’ll do anything for a chance of love with each other.

Katya is the often-forgotten sister of Alex, the heir to the Bratva throne. Due to the quite misogynistic culture of the family, Alex’s needs have always come first so she’s learnt to take what she wants, thriving on bad attention. She’s a confident character who owns her sexuality which I loved (no weeping virgins here). Nik is Alex’s best friend and like a son to the Bratva royalty. As a result, he’s grown up used to the good life so when things begin to change due to Alex’s up and coming nuptials, Nik finds it difficult to adjust to the consequences and what it’ll mean for his life. Both he and Katya are now expected to make the family stronger by having their marriages arranged but they each resent having their path dictated to them. They’re drawn together and start burning up the pages of your book.

This story had a slightly different feel to the first in the series. While Book 1 had an increased focus on the criminal goings on of the family, this one is set in Fiji where the family are taking their annual holiday. I thought the traitor story line that was started in the first book would have been continued here and although it was mentioned, it wasn’t a focal point of the plot, so there wasn’t too much violence throughout the novel. Nik and Katya are shoved together in close quarters and while this provides entertainment and a way to get under each other’s skin, it also provides an opportunity to them to see they have more in common than they realise and that something else might be brewing under the surface. Don’t get me wrong, they’re horrible to each other and seem to love to antagonise and throw barbs at any given opportunity. Each of them enjoy sex and take delight in being provocative to one another, even going so far as to bring others back to their room to create havoc (so be warned if you have a trigger for other men/women while the main characters aren’t together).

There are some great, steamy scenes in this book and a lot of readers will love how jealous and possessive Nik gets towards Katya. I found myself as frustrated as the two main characters at parts in this book as the angst level shot up due to the nature of the Bratva. Arranged marriages, unfair treatment of women compared to their male counterparts, parents that are set in their ways; all of this combined to make me pretty stabby at times and I felt the characters’ frustration. Katya believes she has more to offer than being auctioned off to the highest bidder and Nik is your typical perpetual bachelor who is being forced to settle. Rest assured, the book brings the couple together in the best of ways and there’s plenty of drama while you’re along for the ride. There’s a great little epilogue included, too, which was a nice touch to finish up the duet. This was a really entertaining series.

Katya Vasiliev was always head strong even as a Bratva Princess she was never a bratty one, though she knew her father wanted her to marry a man with connections to strengthen her families position. After seeing her own brothers fight for true love giver her a glimmer of hope if only her body would get on the same page as her mind and not want Nikolai her brothers best friend and Bratva soldier. when the two share a condo at Alex and Marishas wedding in Fiji lines are about to be drawn and blurred. But when Katyas father arranges for her to meet Suitors will Nikolai be able to keep himself under control? Their love hate relationship really pushes and pulls you in as a reader., its best to read book 1 as there are some scenes with the pair that lead up to book 2 but not completely necessary. well written with a good engaging story and chemistry bursting character!

I was anxiously awaiting Twisted Princess after reading Deviant Prince (book one of the duet). I knew Nik and Katya's story was going to be off the chain with angsty goodness and it definitely delivered!!

Their story (all the way back to childhood) is full of hateful snides and evil flirtations just to get a rise out of each other. This angsty/flirty banter is what drives the story building the anticipation of when their sexual tension was going to combust.

With both the H/h being on edge (due the fact that they were both being pushed to find someone to marry and/or an arranged marriage was going to happen), the drama was on high making them both act out in jealously and disobedience towards Katya's family. However it drew them closer in a "let's show them that they can't control us" kind of way. I loved how once they came together and realized their true feelings that they really stuck up for each other and fought for what they wanted at all costs (which could be deadly in a mafia family).

I was seriously ready to kick Katya's mom, dad and brother (Alex) there for a minute but thankfully they redeemed themselves!

Loved Katya's kick butt move at the end and her and Nik's hard won HEA!!

Twisted Princess is the second book in the Bratva Mafia Twins duet. It is Katya and Nikolai's story. It starts after the first book ends and is set during a family holiday to Fiji. I loved both of their characters in the first book, Deviant Prince, and couldn't wait for them to have their own book. You don't have to have read the first book to read this one but i recommend you do as there are some great scenes that feature Kat and Nik.

Katya is a fiercely headstrong and stubborn woman who refuses to tow the line with her parents and it's because of this that her father lays down the law with regards to her getting married to form a strong alliance with an another family. Nik is a serial womaniser and feeling a bit bereft after losing Alex, his best friend and brother in arms, to a woman. Kat and Nik love to tease and annoy each other, at times it can be brutal, and the sexual tension between the pair runs high throughout the entire book. The chemistry between Kat and Nik is off the charts.

They end up sharing a condo after Nik gets kicked out of the one that he usually shares with Alex. Lines get blurred as they fight their attraction to each other. They are both oblivious to it at first but over the course of the book they realise that they are in love with each other.

I loved every second of this book. It is extremely well written and the plot is fast, exciting and well paced. I found myself both gripped and heartbroken, the angst i felt was unreal. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. if you are a fan of the enemies to lovers or brothers best friend/best friends sister tropes then you'll love this story. I highly recommend reading this book, you won't be disappointed.

You know when you are a little girl and THAT boy constantly picks on you and pulls your ponytail? And everyone says its because he likes you! That's this book! The narky back and forth banter in the first book had be waiting on this one. Nik & Katya walk the to fine line between love and hate but they work so well together. Great end to the duet.

Imagine sibling rivalry on steroids. They grew up together. They are not related, but they fight like siblings. Being Bratva Royslty, their marriages will be arranged for them. Both are fighting the idea. And just like that the sparks start flying. Up and until the wrong wedding ceremony,  both Nikolai and Katya got a wakeup call. What will they do now. You need this book

Katya and Nikolai get their story following on from Alex and Marisha’s in Deviant Prince.
I don’t know where to start... Katya and Nik bickered, bantered, teased, and taunted each other for most of this book. Out of their endless tormenting was undeniable chemistry- only they were too oblivious to it. Seriously, these two had my life *SMH*

“I WANTED TO HEAR NIKOLAI SPILL FROM HER LIPS. NOT IN JEST NOT AS PART OF A TORTURE, BUT BECAUSE HER SAYING MY NAME WAS A FUCKING PRAYER.”

I loved the enemies to lovers vibe, the best friend’s sister/ brother’s best friend trope, and especially the glorious setting that was most of this book was set in. It was all truly captivating. Claire and Ellie created these beautifully flawed characters that were fit this messy but well-scripted plot so perfectly.

Nik is struggling with his best friend and blood brother in the Bratva family settling down. He was determined to living the life and showing Alek what he was missing by carrying on the drinking, clubbing and bedding women... I struggled with this aspect of the story but I get that it’s what makes him the way he is and more so the man he becomes for Katya.

Katya is a spoiled Bratva princess but it was her fierce and defiant streak that made her stand out and ultimately pushed her dad, aka, Bratva King to laying down the law for her.

A lot of this story is a twisted and complicated mess but it was impossible to resist laughing only to be hit with a whiplash of emotional feels as the plot thickened. I was at the edge of my seat holding my heart in my hand.

Alex and Marisha were great in their supporting roles and did not overshadow the main characters in this story. The epilogue is EVERYTHING and so much more!!

If there was one thing that irked me was Nik’s callous attitude towards the women he encountered. That aside, this was a quick and enjoyable read with dark Mafia themes but a well-balanced story.

4.5 stars!

I loved the undeniable chemistry that Nik and Katya had. I loved how they had an emotional connection along with the sexual chemistry. I loved them bickering.

This book was way better than the first one. Alexander and Marisha's story was not deep though the plot was good. Like they just had sex few times and fell in love without even knowing each other much.

God but the way I hated Katya's family including Alexander. Her mother was this so called "Queen" who was nothing much but a damn slave of her husband (and she also preached her own daughter how to become one). Her father was a self centred prick who was ready to dispose his daughter to a abusive man for the sake of money and business. Little misogynist community he was ruling.

And Alexander? His own fucking girlfriend was married to an abusive asshole and he didn't even intervene when his own sister was expected to be married to a toxic man. As Nik said, he was "pussy whipped" for Marisha and lost his rational brain. Disappointing tbh because how Alex and Marisha fell in love is beyond me.

Nik was my favourite. He didn't take bullshit from anyone and was the only one who could see past Katya. He respected Katya and accepted her personality. He loved her so much. Their sex was phenomenal. Even when Katya said some hurtful things he'd stay around just to make sure she's safe.

Overall a good romance novel. Must read.

This was as good if not better then the Deviant Prince, the 1st book in this duet. Katya is the twin to Alex, the next King of the Bratva and she is a hand full. She’s feisty, independent, defiant, and a total “wild child” that her parents want to rein back in. They think that arranging a marriage between her and another mafia family member will be good for her and their business. There is no way Katya wants an arranged marriage. Since Alex found true love with Marisha, the wife of another mafia family, she thought he had opened the way for her to find her own true love. Nik and Alex were best of friends and he was like another son the Eduard and Evangeline. Nik is feeling betrayed by Alex and hates that he lost his wingman. Katya and Nik have a love/hate relationship as they are always teasing, taunting, and hurting one another. Their chemistry is so intense between them but they won’t cross the line. As Katya is paraded around the eligible men her father has chosen, Nick’s jealousy comes front and center. An emotional read with drama, danger, violence, suspense and steamy romance. There were times when it wasn’t looking good for either Katya or Nik. I loved it! Would love a sequel to this for more into the lives of Alex & Marisha and Nik & Katya.

★ Bound by mafia duty ★

—>>> This second story of the duet takes place mainly in the Fiji Islands, where the Vasiliev family is now looking to move forward with plans to set up the second generation with partners of their own, now that one twin, Alexander, has found his true love. His twin sister, Katya, knows time is running out for her to marry suitably and understands her duties as the Bratva princess, but her rebellious heart still yearns to marry for love and nothing else. The one bane practically her whole existence is the family’s adopted brother, Nikolai, who seems to return the same feelings for her…until the day he realizes that she is all grown up and has been exactly what he has been looking for his whole life. Of course, things now get interesting because their family does not wait for him to have that epiphany. Dual POVs, parallel in their emotions towards Alexander, finally cross

I’ve been excited for this book for so long and it was everything I hoped for and more. This book is filled with tension, steam, drama, playful banter and suspense, with a couple that has amazing chemistry. Sometimes you want to scream at them, especially since they deny each other, put the other through so much and go through even more together, it is evident that they are made for each other and perfect together. Both Katya and Nikolai have a playful, fierce, possessive, teasing, strong, know they’re worth, independent side to them, but they also have vulnerable spots and moments. They help each other heal, they also embrace every part of each other, even the parts others may not find ideal, they fight for and protect each other. Their story is intense, dark, suspenseful, steamy, captivating, romantic, emotional and overall incredible. I highly recommend it.

They belong in a way to the same Bratva family, Katya is the daughter and Nik is friends with Alex. Alex and Katya are brother and sister. Alex is changing the family so they arrange a marriage between Katya and Nik to strength the family. Katya is not about to be told what to do but at the same time she cannot stop being attracted to him. The characters are tough, Katya is no shrinking violet, and Nik is the hit man so we know they will not bow to anyone. The story flows well and the action and all the emotion just keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. Great subject matter and great characters make for a wonderful read. I suggest you read these in order to get the full effect.

Good banter, Lacking motivation

Overall an enjoyable book when it came to the banter and sexual tension. It was refreshing to read a book where the H and h both sleep with other people as a way to purge their thoughts but did make for an interesting reading experience. Usually you don't go in to a romance and expect to read more scenes with an other woman (or two) than with the main.

I couldn't get over Eduard's not making sense and sudden staunch insistence on marriage for Katya. It's never explained why he would have such a sudden and complete immediate insistance that she marry. This lack of understanding the secondary characters motivations is what brought the story down the most for me personally.
