Book 5 in the Mountain Hero Warrior Series.

The love story of Granite and Amber comes to an end in the final episode of Cold Hearted.

A barista running from her ex and ending up in a protective mountain cabin, a builder finds love and romance as they try to bury both their pasts and the people involved with them.

Amber

Ending up in a small, mountain town with no money and no place to stay is the least of my worries. I only have one goal and that is to not get found by my abusive ex-boyfriend. When a handsome man at the gas station offers me a place to stay for the night, I know that I have to be careful and not let him into my life, no matter how much I’m tempted towards him.

Only, the longer that I stay with him, the harder it is to resist the pull that seems to be drawing us together. As my past threatens to catch up with me, my new rugged protector might be the only shield standing in its way.

Granite

I can’t let another woman into my life. So I promise myself that I’ll only help this girl out for a night or two. But there’s something about her, something broken, that resonates and attracts the broken parts in me too.

I know I should just let her be and trust me, I am trying… But the more she tries to push me away, the more I see how much she needs me to stay. I know better than to get involved in mess like this, but the moment she calls out to me in the middle of the night, I know that I’m screwed, because I can’t help but run to her.

This is the conclusion of Amber and Granite. The town that they are living in have adopted Amber and Granite and since they took care of the elderly lady and are living in the cabin that her husband built they are part of the town. They have Pete with them and Granite isn't sure if he should stay but there are lots of reasons why he should stay and one is that Amber thinks that Granite is the boys father and his deceased wife didn't tell him about the child. The police come over from the other side of the mountain where Amber and Granite escaped from and they want to arrest them. Pete and the townspeople won't let them take them. Amber sneaks a bloody rag and takes Pete into town to run a DNA test. There is lots of suspense, steam and love in this last story. I'll let you read it to see what the DNA test tells them. Great series. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am almost afraid to not find a HEA because these two have endured more than anyone else could. If being there for each other strengthens the love and trust, they will remain a strong couple. They have endured so many horrible experiences, and yet they kept going. The last piece to fall into place would be Amber and Granite adopting Pete who had found his way back to them during his own desperate escape. Why does Granite hesitate about adopting? Will Amber convince him they are meant to be family?

There are still surprises waiting for the reader! This has been a relentless suspenseful tale and a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. Will we now have all the answers? Will life settle down to be enjoyed without a life-threatening adventure? Grab your copy and find out the final resolution.

Another quick read that follows directly after the cliffhanger of the last novel. Granite and Amber have a number of issues and feelings to both acknowledge and work through. The unease I had as the couple were running from the law was relieved in a way- with an almost too simplistic solution. Still, many of the story pieces did come together for there to be a HEA and a peek into the future for more closure.

I hope we meet Amber, Granite, and Peter again. I loved this series. They were all really short stories, but I got hooked and could not wait for more. The way the story ended was just a WOW moment, but I would like to know more about Peter. Great characters, great story, and great ending. The ending was a little out there with old laws and such, but I guess it could happen.

Granite and Amber's story continues in this book. I really don't like the way Granite's wife, Anna, treated him. As you learn more about Anna, I find her to be a cold, heartless person. Amber and Granite have a love that seems to stand the test of time.

So much drama and suspense has followed Amber and Granite and it has been one h€ll of a ride. Amber really wants to adopt Pete but Granite still isn't sure. When the truth comes out your head will be spinning. This was a great way for Misty to end this series.

The author ties up all the loose ends for us. Granite and Amber have gone through so much in order to be where they are now. Nothing was ever simple for them, but it has made them stronger.
