Bayou Magic #3

Serendipity

Rate this book
From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Proby, comes Serendipity, the final installment in her gripping Bayou Magic series…

My sight is a gift and also a curse. It cost me the love of my life. We may have been young, but some things you don’t get over. Like being the cause of the biggest tragedy of your boyfriend’s life. It’s something I’ll never forget, and a reflection of who I am.

But now that Jackson’s back in town, with scars and a hero’s badge of honor, it’s time for me to be brave, too.

A malevolent evil hell-bent on making my sisters and me pay for rebuffing him is still stalking my family, and some ancient writings portended that the six were the only ones who could defeat him.

Jackson Pruitt and I round out that magical number, which means I have to face the evil and the things Jack makes me feel, to save my family and my city.

I never sought to reconnect with Jack. Working with him now means opening myself up to my feelings for him.

Refusing means destruction for us all.

I think I'll settle on 3 stars because I really enjoyed the story but I had questions that weren't answered in this final book.

Full RTC Too lazy to write a review for this one lol.

✨🐈‍⬛🪄🔮 Thank you to my lovely Court 💜💜 for reading this with me! It was fun despite not getting some answers and everything being a little shoved into this short installment.

I think this is my favorite cover out of all of them - it's so enchanting 😭

★2.75 stars rounded up for the book, 5♾️ for the experience 💙🔮✨

✎𓂃 “We aren’t vulnerable little girls anymore. We’re powerful witches. And this son of a bitch underestimated our power.”

Thankful to have closed out this journey with my queen Heather, even if this last book was a bit of a letdown. Thank you for taking that break and not leaving me in the dust LOL love you H 😅👯

☆What to Expect:
The finale of Bayou Magic focuses on the final couple, Daphne and Jackson, rekindling after Daphne’s precognition led to a breakup in their late teen years. The Six have finally formed and are determined to not become yet another past life doomed to fail. Instead, they are ready to take down this serial killer once and for all.

☆My Thoughts:
Romance development, backstory, a serial killer committing horrendous crimes, sisterly/familial bonding, new side characters, and a huge final battle that has been brewing up a storm since book 1…all rolled into 256 pages? 😵‍💫 It’s a bit of an understatement to say that this book was too ambitious for the inadequate page length that was used. I have so many unanswered questions that idk will ever be answered. Cash is literally just a muggle with no purpose other than being a cop??? 🤔

BUT.

Regardless of its faults and disappointments (the unrealistic/cheesy language continues in this installment), the series as a whole is like a quick, cozy hug from a very friendly ghost (if only the sisters had cute ghostly encounters like ones from Casper!). This is no massively satisfying Maasverse/GoT/HP/LOTR battle, but the emphasis on the strength of familial and romantic love and its capabilities is no less prevalent.

I actually enjoyed Jackson and Daphne’s relationship probably the most of the 3 sisters, as it felt realistic and less influenced by outside factors (past lives, a serial killer on the loose-this is still at play but not want originally brings the two together). Mistakes were made in their past, they both grew up, and with some needed groveling, they work through their issues together.

Heather and I will absolutely be diving into the next and likely previous series in this author’s universe in the future! WE NEED TO KNOW who these random but seemingly important side characters are!!!

Daphne & Jackson’s story was so worth the wait! I’m so sad it’s over, but this book was packed with so much that I found myself holding my breath in spots. Kristen Proby blows my mind going from a couple years go having never written pnr anything, to all this amazingness!! I’m a little frightened at the moment of her because of Horace. Nuff said.

I love these sisters, and their mates so much! That epilogue had me😩. I need more! I love this trilogy so much!

I loved being back with "the six". We finally get to meet Jackson, and he is definitely swoon worthy and is determined to win Daphne back. Unfortunately, something else has other plans and it's going to take everyone to take down this evil, once and for all.

Finished this one last night and had creepy ass dreams all night!! Perfect read for this time of year. Fair warning, there are a few "ick" scenes, similar to book 1.

The perfect creepy conclusion to Kristen Proby's Bayou Magic series!! Jackson & Daphne were the perfect conclusion couple coming together after years apart and I was 100% here for it.

The battle continues and now that the six are finally together will they be able to once and for all defeat Horace after lifetimes of failure?

Really, I don't know want to say too much about this book because everything that happened in the previous two books have led up to this and you should read those before you read anything about this one.

I will say that I adored this conclusion, and I am sad to say goodbye to the sisters as well as their men, especially Lucien *insert dreamy eyed stare* because this trilogy had it all. Magic, love, the definite creepy factor and three insanely strong women taking down one heck of a sicko.

Even if the Bayou Magic series is over according to Kristen, she is not done writing these perfect spooky season reads which means next year we should get a whole new series about something spectacularly spooky!!

Wow... I dare you to read/listen to SERENDIPITY and not have a major case of goosebumps!!! Once again Ms. Proby blew my mind with her brand of supernatural suspense/romance. Intense, passionate, intriguing, and oh so sexy, the final installment of the Bayou Magic series not only instantly captivated me, but left me on the edge of my seat with its seriously amazing setting and narrative building!

What an unforgettable ending, we had ALL the elements of an epic - more like three*wink* - love story that sucks you right in from the very first page, or should I say, book?! Oh, how I will miss these sister and their equally fantastic alphas!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

The third and final book in Kristen Proby's spellbinding Bayou Magic series is here and I could not be more thrilled. Serendipity has been my most anticipated book of this year and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!

In this installment, the battle between good and evil continues and I was on the edge of my seat for it all. With Daphne & Jackson's reunion, the six are finally together and are ready to battle it out with their tormentor once & for all. They're stronger together and their pasts only help to solidify that bond - almost as if it were always meant to be.

“Serendipity.” The word is whispered. “What is?”“Finding you, all those years ago. I wasn’t looking for you, but there you were. The most amazing woman I’d ever seen. All mine.” I kiss his chin. “All yours.”

The Landry sisters and their beaus have captured my heart and will keep a strong hold on it for quite a long time to come. This series has truly revolutionized the paranormal genre for me and, personally, I cannot wait for Kristen to delve back into the genre because she's so damn good at it. The whole series was masterfully crafted and wickedly entertaining.

This is the third and final book in the Bayou Magic series and one I've been anticipating since reading the second book in this series.

This final book delves into Daphne and Jackson's story and what caused the downfall in their relationship only to be brought back together to battle the evil reeking havoc in their lives. This book also tells the story of the six, all three sisters and their loves, good against evil and what it takes to defeat the person who is determined to punish them all. This book was intriguing and had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation chapter after chapter until the very end. I can't say much because I don't want to spoil this book so you'll just have to read it and see how amazing it is for yourself!

This is one series I recommend and that speaks volumes coming from someone who was not a fan of paranormal reads but this one absolutely changed my mind!

I’m a little surprised by just how much I liked this series. Each couple gave me some more of the story, albeit with more questions, and it all led us to Jackson and Daphne. The two once-lovers who need to decide how to interact now. Okay, so Daphne needs to decide. Because Jackson already knows what he wants and who he wants it with. And even the very real danger coming for them can’t keep these two apart anymore. As we build toward the final showdown, the past melds with the present and maybe some future to prepare everyone for what they must do. And I was here for every last word!

Get ready for the dark, the evil, the angry, and the pain. But also get ready for the good, the light, the love, and the abilities that can finally win the biggest fight of their lives. You may want to make sure you have a few hours blocked off to read this, because you won’t want to put it down once you start!

I've been loving this series so much and was anxiously waiting to read this story; but sad as it's the last installment in the series. This one's Daphne & Jackson's story but we'll also finally getting some more answers. I would've liked some more action in the end but that's just something personal. It wrapped up nicely but just left me a bit unfulfilled. I've thoroughly enjoyed this series though and can't wait to see what the author has next in store 'cuz I'm loving her PNR stories :-)

Daphne & Jackson go way back but lose each other along the way even though they love each other, there's just something standing in their way that drove Jackson away. Now a few years later, Daphne has become a young woman who just knows what she wants and when Jackson returns, she doesn't want him anywhere near her anymore. But a lot has changed and danger lurks closer than ever, they might need each other now more than ever. With everyone trying their best to prepare for what is inevitably coming, Daphne and Jackson grow closer to each other and love finds a way... All is changing soon and everyone will need all their strength if they want to have a way to defeat what's coming their way. Will they be able to find a way and will everyone be kept from harm?...

Jackson left Daphne and New Orleans years prior and stopped practicing his magic. But now he's back because he keeps having premonitions of the six of them fighting a great evil. Daphne was heartbroken when Jackson left but now that he's back, she's determined to keep her distance and her heart safe. But with the murders escalating and more supernatural mind games happening, Daphne has no choice but to talk to Jackson and fill him in on all they've been going through over the past year. Daphne and Jackson were soulmates just like Brielle and Cash, and Millie and Lucien. I was glad that Jackson apologized for his past mistakes and vowed to be there for her and protect her from this evil that was after them all. Jackson is a former soldier who's seen too much on the battlefield and being back in New Orleans on a different kind of battlefield has him feeling out of control. Daphne and Jackson were able to draw strength from each other in order to stay strong and clear headed to defeat Horace. I loved that the girls' mother Ruth was getting stronger everyday and with the help of Miss Sophia and the coven and was able to go back into practicing her magic. Daphne was the youngest of the sisters and was always trying to protect her sisters, their beaux and Jackson. Even with everything happening around them, I loved that Jackson always tried to find some alone time for him and Daphne to just breathe and relax. This final book was worth the wait because it showed the bond of the sisters and their men and full power of the six. I loved that we got even more witches and warlocks coming together to defeat this evil and to see all the different types of magic they practiced. I absolutely loved this series, I didn't know where the story was headed when I read the first book but it was all worth it. This series had a little bit of everything; love, magic, sisterhood, community, horror and in the end each couple got their HEA.

TW//CW abuse, blood, brutality, death, domestic abuse, gore, kidnapping, torture, violence

There will be battles ahead. But there will also be love. So much love.

This is the last book from one of my fav series. So what I'm feeling is mixed between super excited for that big finale and kinda sad because I don't want this series to end.
As what I'm expected, this book is the peak of this series, the finale battle between good and evil, and so satisfying, the battle is wow, it's like I was there and chanting those powerful spells with them.
It still has that perfect vibe for Halloween with witches, crystals, stones, potions and spells everywhere. It still has a creepy and scary thriller with gory and gruesome details. It still has wonderful love story and in this book it's from Daphne and Jackson.
Great story, wonderful characters, perfect vibe for Halloween, oh yeah I love it.

I highly recommended this book and this series for everyone who's looking for a paranormal suspense romance read.

Serendipity is the third and final book in Kristen Proby's trilogy, Bayou Magic and she ends this series on a perfect note.

Each book focuses on a particular couple but there is an underlying plot that ties each book together so it's best to read them in order. Serendipity centers around Daphne and her fated soul mate, Jackson and their story. And this story was very much worth the wait til the end.

The Bayou Magic series is story of three sisters who are witches and hold different powers in their own rights. I truly enjoyed the design of the paranormal and witchcraft that Proby brings into this story (and series). You can definitely tell that Proby did plenty of research for this series and shows a unique side to witches.

Proby wrote this book perfectly to not only tie everything together, but also tell Daphne and Jackson's love story. These three sisters (and their fated) have been through so much but it's when they are together, that they are strongest. Daphne's story was quite unique and I enjoyed seeing everything coming together, but also watching Daphne and Jackson's story play out right alongside everything.

Serendipity ended the Bayou Magic Trilogy perfectly and I enjoyed every bit of it. I am looking forward to more PNR books from Proby in the future.

Serendipity is beyond amazing. This is simply paranormal magic right here. If you haven't read the Bayou Magic series yet then you need to. This is book 3 and needs to be read in book order. I loved this one so much. This is Daphne and Jackson's book . I love the second chance Jackson and Daphne have as they work on trying to battle Horace. Daphne is a sight witch and sees the past while Jackson sees the future. They are a perfect match and you feel it all the way through as they fight to bring down evil for good. I love the bound between the 6 and how well they work together. I'm so in love with this series. This is one that you will not be able to put down. This book and series is simply magically addicting and I loved ever moment of it. Go one click this one.

Wow what an ending! I absolutely devoured this book. I’m now rereading the series again. Horace just does not stop with the creepy. You never know what he’s going to do next Jackson and Daphne do not disappoint. Their relationship is sweet and steamy. I loved getting to reunite with the other characters from the previous books. The 6 finally team up but you will not be able to guess the ending!! Be prepared to stay up late with this one!

This is Daphne and Jackson's story and the final installment in the Bayou Magic trilogy. They're still dealing with Horace, the evil entity from the first two books. You definitely need to have read the first two to have any idea of what's going on in this one. We were actually introduced to Daphne and Jackson in the first book.

What I liked:
-I don't typically like paranormal romance, but I apparently like the way Kristen Proby does it. It's set in New Orleans, which adds a whole other layer of mystery and weirdness.
-You even catch a glimpse of Mallory Boudreaux from the Easy series!
-Lucy was a witch that was introduced in this one and provided the lead into the new series releasing in October. So even though I lost interest in this particular series, I'll still give the next one a shot!

What I didn't like:
-I'm not sure if it was because there was a year between all of the releases or what, but this one just didn't hold my interest. I wasn't invested in Daphne and Jack's story at all really and was just reading to get through it. At this point in the series, it started to feel a bit repetitive.

Safety information:
This one is pretty dark and violent, so beware of that going into it.
No cheating, no OM/OW drama

Dear Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime…can one of y’all buy the rights and make this series into movies😈🙏🏻

Seriously, Serendipity played out perfectly. Ahhh I was walking through New Orleans & eating beignets with the 6. I can picture the epic battle🤩

I truly enjoyed this series. Each couple was so unique. Jackson & Daphne are perfect for each other & I’m so glad they get their HEA🪄💕⚜️

Fave quotes:
“You brought breakfast?” Daphne asks in surprise. “We have to eat,” Cash says and bites into an apple fritter. “And you know she put all kinds of woo-woo protection stuff in all of this.”—-omg I Love Cash🤣❤️

“You are every dream I’ve ever had.” I kiss the ball of her shoulder and slide my hand over her stomach. “Every wish. Jesus, you’re all I think about. And when I was overseas, going through hell on Earth, it was the thought of your sweet face that got me through each day.”—-well Jackson certainly knows when to use that southern charm😉swoon🥰

Reread 2025: Still Good.

Serendipity is the last book in the Bayou Magic series, and it was a great ending to a fantastic serial killer, witchy paranormal romance. This book is Jackson and Daphne's story, which is a second chance romance. They are soulmate, and they have to finish what began with the serial killer in Shadows. Jackson was angry with Daphne when she told him how his father died, and left her years ago. Now he is back in New Orleans, and Daphne is angry with him for how he treated her. Jackson and Daphne are a part of the 6 to defeat the villain for good. The ending is good. The romance is good (closed door like the first two books in the series), an atmospheric PNR storyline about witches, and POV of the serial killer that is dark and unsettling that Jason Clarke slayed in the audiobook!

I have been (not so) patiently waiting for Serendipity since Shadows was first released in 2019. I loved Brielle and Cash, and Millie and Lucien (the first four of "the six"), but I was so incredibly curious about Jackson and Daphne's story, and what had happened that kept them apart. I also needed to find closure with Horace and the trouble he has brought to the sisters.

Kristen Proby's mind must work in mysterious ways, because the story that she wrote was never something that I could have imagined! I absolutely loved Serendipity! These characters are so memorable that I can't wait to reread!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the last book in the trilogy, and without a shadow of a doubt, you need to read these in order to fully appreciate the plots and interwoven storylines. I almost envy someone who gets to read these all afresh in one go, and I have added them to my must reread list. I am going to assume you are up to date in my review.

With both Brielle and Millie in wonderful relationships, Daphne is feeling the weight of responsibility falling on her alone. Both her sisters are keen on her too falling in love, and the fact that her one time crush, Jackson, is not only back in town, but also clearly interested, is fuelling their thoughts. I loved how we have the story of their past revealed to us, and how the shadow cast by their difficult past must not prevent them from having a future. Jackson has no intention of failing, and makes that clear from the beginning, which is very alluring, and thankfully effective.

Kristen Proby has done a great job of balancing the dark with the light. There is plenty of danger spilled over from previous books, and it is getting ever closer. We are given significant reminders of the forces at work in disrupting the peace of the Landry sisters, and what protection they have against them. I don't want to spoil the story, so will not say more.

I am very hopeful that this is not the last time that this talented author pens a paranormal romance, because I have enjoyed these very much.

Good Lord we finally have a battle that will just blow you away and boy we finally see how it all goes down. Have to say Kristen Proby definitely kept me on edge of my seat from the first boo to now waiting to see what Horace will do was well nerve wrecking. I have to applaud Kristen for not only keeping the storyline so awesome but also sickening the things Horace does is just well American Horror Story tv show coming to life right before your eyes. We finally see the real Horace, his background so to speak and seeing everybody together united was awesome. This was definitely the right series full of secrets, lies, evil and goodness prevailing everything. Seeing Jackson find his magic again was in a way destined for him. Now Daphne have to say is one woman who has it tough in this book because she see's things no one should ever see. Boy just reading what she did see scared me out of my wits and applaud her for moving on, just wow. Magic definitely has a way in this book that will pull you but seeing everybody's power come to light in this finale was the true magic scene in this book. Loved it and sad to see it end but in a way everything came full circle in a way that Kristen Proby truly shined in this book. Loved it and definitely a series you got to get your hands on don't pass it up.

Serendipity (Bayou Magic #3) by Kristen Proby
4 stars
M/F Paranormal Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Daphne & Jackson’s story is finally here. Daphne and Jackson lost touch after Jackson lost his father in a tragic death. Not wanting to hear what Daphne saw, Jackson withdrew and left his coven for the Army.

When Jackson returns, Daphne isn't really willing to put herself out there again for Jackson. She knows what it's like to be hurt by him and she doesn't want to feel that again.

Jackson knows that he was wrong to blame Daphne all those years ago, but he can feel that something big is happening and he doesn't want to lost Daphne to it.

As everyone gathers together to fight their final battle, you can't help but cheer them on. I do wish that there was more resolution around their battle. It almost felt anticlimactic. Yes, the battle was hard fought and yes, it took everyone's gift working together, but it also didn't really have a lot of angst or turmoil either.

Overall, I'm super glad that I was able to read this series. It was full of love, intrigue, strong women and men who are swoon worthy. I look forward to what Proby has coming up next!

I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance, add a paranormal element to the story and Kristen Proby’s words, and I’m all-in.

A love like the one that Jackson and Daphne share is one that never truly fades, regardless of the hurt, the pain, the miscommunications, or the time lost. It’s always there, just beneath the surface, waiting everything out, readying for that second chance that will find a way to happen.

That doesn’t mean that the path to that reunion isn’t going to be difficult, especially when there is a significant amount of past pain to contend with, but Daphne shows just how strong she is and what her love for Jackson means fighting for every step away from their painful past relationship to something so magical, so destined that nothing else matters.

Fate can absolutely be fickle; it does what it wants and it pushes people to the edge, but with the power and love that surround the six that have finally found their way together, they got this…

The Landry sisters are a badass trio, in their own right, but add in their leading men and they are a unit that will never surrender, that will fight against evil and anything else that wants to come between them and those they love and that’s what I adored most about the conclusion of Kristen Probe’s Bayou Magic series.

And we come to the end of the Bayou Magic trilogy, bringing the Landry's younger sister, Daphne.

Remembering... The three sisters discovered very early on that they had certain gifts that frightened them more than anything. That's because these gifts were tied to death.
The witches sisters had the ability to see the dead, communicate with them or, through touching objects and people, see what happened to them.
Brielle and Millie have already had their story told - and found the perfect match.

Daphne had the ability to see the past in touch, and despite that, she owned an antique shop (which brought some excitement), but she always looked to pick objects that had a happy history.

However, the 3 sisters were still having problems with a ghost from their childhood. Horace, a worker on his mother's former estate, still had his mind fixed on them, and spared no effort (read: killing innocent people) to achieve his goal.
The book has all that magic, but it's also dark. Lots of deaths (in not very pleasant ways) and mystery as to how they can finally get rid of this evil forever.

And meanwhile Jackson Pruitt returns to town - more mature - with a firm determination to win Daphne's love back.
How many people will die before they get together?

Serendipity is a heart racing conclusion to the Bayou Magic series. I have mixed emotions now that its over. I am thrilled to know the ending but so sad to say goodbye to these characters. I know that Kristen Proby's characters are never truly gone, and they pop up in other stories but the story of the six is now over.

Daphne and Jackson's story is a different kind of second chance romance than Millie's was, but all the feelings are there. These two clearly never fell out of love, but both lost trust and need to build it back. Horace is back and worse than ever, I loved and hated getting in the mind of this serial killer, and his twisted games. I feel that all the story lines were resolved appropriately. The romantic suspense overshadows the couple romance in this story, and the bedroom scenes are mostly fade to black. I loved the Boudreaux easter egg, and getting a peek in to Mallory and Beau's life now. There was mention of a get together with the family, but it didn't make it into this story and I hope that means it gets to be a novella in the future.

This was a perfect story for spooky season, and I highly recommend reading this series. This book is not a standalone, and the series should be read in order.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

The final installment in the Bayou Magic series, Serendipity does not only answer the questions we may have had concerning the evil plaquing the sister, but gives us a look into Jackson and Daphne’s relationship. To be honest, I’m not sure I was looking forward to more after being tantalized with hints of their relationship in the first two books, it was appeasing to final learn about their past.

Kristen Proby has given us a series that is perfect for those that love to be frightened while enticed by an electrifying storyline with some romance thrown in. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

This is the last book of this series and it is all we can expect about the end of the story. It is frighten, a pure thriller and yet so romantic. The closure we expect with Daphne and Jackson background story and the main event that it is how the "Six" obtain means for destroying the serial killer Horace. He is terrible and so much horrible, but in the end love conquers all.
This series is something else and the best would be to read the books in order to enjoy more the story and the characters.
