I love these books. They’re so sweet. No bad stuff in it. I can just sit and read and enjoy. Thank you for the care that you take with these books Ms Whiting.
This was a fast paced well thought out story. I really loved the twist and turns and all the well thought out suspects. I have read most of this series and enjoy them all . I have become invested in each and everyone of the family and friends. Without telling anything, I will say this one tugged at my heart more then I can tell you. The end of this story truly made me cry! A great read!!!!!
Sweet Violet's Ghost is book #19 in the Sweet Cove Mystery series by J. A. Whiting. As much as I like her new series', I wish Ms. Whiting would concentrate more on her Sweet Cove series, Lin Coffin series, and Claire Rollins series, as well as write more of the Seeing Colors series. It is depressing for me to have to wait a year between books in these wonderful series. If you have not read any of this series, please begin with book #1 and binge read them in chronological order. New characters are introduced in each one. This series has a recipe at the end of the book. If you are on a sugar-free or low-carb diet, try substituting Splenda, sucralose, or erythritol for the sugar and a mixture of almond and coconut flour, instead of using regular sugar and all-purpose flour. Use only 1/4 of the amount of erythritol or Splenda because it is much, much sweeter than sugar.
This series is about four sisters (Angie, Jenna, Ellie, and Courtney) who each have some sort of paranormal powers: seeing ghosts, hearing ghosts, telekinetic abilities, and so on. In this book, Angie and Jenna, the twin sisters (one a blonde and one a brunette, respectively) are married and each have a baby girl, each of the babies being born on the very same day within hours of each other. In this episode, the babies are about 9 months old and are already crawling around, almost walking, and saying clear words, such as "doggie." Angie's little girl is Gigi (a conglomeration of several names of grandmother and mother) and Jenna's little girl is Libby (named after a close family friend). Even though they are only nine months old, these two babies can see a ghost dog, who we find out later in the book is named Violet, hence, Sweet Violet's Ghost. Each baby has inherited their mother's paranormal abilities. Ellie and Courtney, the other two Roseland sisters each have a boyfriend: Ellie's boyfriend is a lawyer named Jack, and Courtney's boyfriend's name is Rufus Fudge, which I think is kind of funny because Courtney co-owns a Candy Store with Mr. Finch, and Rufus's last name is Fudge, which is a type of candy. Funny, huh? Any-hooo, I want to read more about the two unmarried sisters' relationships with their boyfriends and hope they'll get married soon and have kids of their own. Other main characters in these books are Angie's husband, Josh, who owns a resort, and Tom, Jenna's husband, who owns his own construction/contracting company; Mr. Finch, an elderly man whom the Roseland sisters have honorarily adopted and even built an apartment for him on their Victorian house; Euclid, a huge orange Maine Coon male cat who seems to also have paranormal powers; and Circe, a small back and white female cat who also has a sixth sense. Both of these cats can also see ghosts, both human ghosts and ghost animals, but Euclid lets his thoughts be known about each.
These books are told in the third person narrative, mainly through Angie's eyes because she is in every scene. I absolutely love this series. The ghost dog, Violet, belonged to a woman who has turned up missing. Thus the story begins.
I gave this book 5 stars, just like I gave every single book in this series.
10 stars!!!! Angie and her twin Jenna went for a walk near the town park to the top of the hill overlooking the ocean, next to the cemetery to the grassy area to sit down with their daughters. When their daughters started saying "mama doggie mama" when Angie turned to look and didn't see at first, but Jenna saw it, glittery particles, and this is where everything started. The mystery of things that are mysteriously happening in the next towns around Sweet Cove that Sheriff Martin comes to talk to the Roselands and Mr. Finch for their help. There is so much going on and so many suspects, i am not going to spoil it for anyone. You have to read for the details. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! I couldn't put this book down, i read almost all night to find out what happened next.
This story added a sweet ghost character...a beloved dog that helps solve the mystery of her owner's death.

Gigi and Libby spot a ghost dog, this time not only the babies and Jenna see the dog but so does Angie. Mr Finch can see the dog and so can Circe and Euclid, Ellie is the next to see the sparkling dog then Courtney sees the dog. Chief Martin comes he needs their help a woman is missing and her kitchen has blood all over. There's a search for Rachel. They go to Rachel's house and find a photo of the dog. Angie is surprised when Josh can see Violet shimmering then Rufus comes in and ask where's the weird light coming from, it's time to tell Rufus about the Roseland girl ability. Tom can see the dog, the men want to know if there can expand their power. Mr paints another picture that is important but no one can figure out why. Good story, love meeting new characters and expanding the family.
I admit this one has me crying at the end due to sweet Violet running to be with her best pal. Makes me want a dog all the more. I’m also happy about Ellie and Jack’s news. Their offer was accepted and now the residents of Sweet Cove will have somewhere to stay soon. The youngest sister is the last one left…I wonder if Whiting will leave this series without marrying Courtney off.
I’m a bit saddened because I have really come to know all of the sisters, their mates, and the cats and it’s almost all over. The next book is the 20th book and after that there is only one more. Then it’ll be time to choose another series and I’ll probably choose a series by the same author as these books- J.A. Whiting.
But for now I’ll enjoy book 20, Sweet Sun & Shadow.
What a wonderful story! Couldn’t put down as soon as Gigi and Libby saw Violet’s ghost. Enjoyed this book very much. Happy about Ellie and Jack, and that Rufus knows about the sisters and their abilities. The part with the men learning more from Mr Finch and what Ellie did to the spoon was very funny. Sorry that Violet couldn’t stay with the family. Tom should help Lynette with her farmhouse. Looking forward to reading the next book. Great job as always. 😊😊😊👍👍
This series , involving the 4 Roseland sisters, is always interesting and fun! The close family interaction and the ever increasing circle of friends makes for great conversations, food, and investigation. The 2 babies, now 9 months old, display their paranormal senses when they both see the ghost dog, Violet! This initiates a search for Violet's missing owner!
Cute story featuring the Roseland family. Four sisters who each have a business and some type of paranormal power. They help the local police chief solve crimes in their small town. Quick reads without profanity, sex, or gruesome violence. Enjoyable and you will look forward to seeing how the family grows and prospers in between solving crime.
I loved this book and have loved the entire series. The only bad thing about it is waiting for the next book to come out--LOL! But really, to me this series is what cozy mysteries are all about. The character development through the series has been wonderful and this book has a new twist with a little dog ghost. Loved it! Am looking forward to reading the next book!!
My absolute favorite character is sweet Violet! The dedication she has for looking after her bestie is adorable; the mystery is interesting, but the needless violence is heartbreaking. The mystical elements have intriguing potential for the future, and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
I can't say enough good things about J A Whitney's A Sweet Cove Mystery series. Each book is filled with good family values, laughter, and a delightfully thought provoking mystery that keeps you turning page after page. Each book also has some scrumptious recipes. Yummy!
This book has it all…..Mysteries to solve, 2 sweet and smart cats, a very sweet dog (a ghost!), Magick, evil doers doing evil deeds ( but who?), murders but no graphic violence, sweet baby girls, no editing issues, no sex, and no cliffhanger endings. The perfect kinda book to curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and enjoy.
I've read the 19 book in this series and couldn't put them down! I can't wait until the next one comes out to see what happens next! I recommend all of them highly.
Another wonderful Sweet Cove Mystery! This series just keeps getting better and better. Love to see how the sisters paranormal powers are developing. Loved Violet! Also love how their relationships are developing. Can’t wait for the next book in the series! Will we be hearing more wedding bells!❤️
This series never fails. I have read every book in this series and absolutely loved every one of them and this was no different. Each book is written so that you feel you are right there and the recipes aren't bad either. Highly recommend.
This story had an interesting storyline with a good mystery to solve. The characters are always evolving and it's nice to see a family who loves each other so passionately. It's is easy reading without gore or bad language. Look forward to next one.
Sweet Cove mysteries follow the lives of the Roseland sisters. Each story has a mystery to solve as well as taking you through the lives of these remarkable young women. Great read for an afternoon in your favorite place.
This series just keeps getting better! The sisters have another murder to solve and are assisted by a ghostly dog named Violet. Charming characters and a mystery that kept me guessing. J.A. Whiting is a master of the cozy mystery genre!!!
I love this series. Easy reading, warm, and friendly, with just enough mystery and drama mixed with romance a deliciousness. I thought I had finished the series and am glad I didn't. And now I can't wait till the next one is available!
This book was hard to put down, the story was was intriguing and it grabs you from the beginning. The characters are great, every time I read a book from in this series, it makes me long for a small beachfront New England vacation.
I anxiously wait for each story in the Sweet Cove Mystery series to be published. The story lines, family love and humor, plus their dear cats had me hooked from the very first book!
The happy family of the Roseland carries the book as usual. The problem is that a complicated problem with many facets is solved in a flash with a conclusion that doesn't fit with the feeling of the writing, leaving this reader unsatisfied.
I found this story captivating. I enjoyed it and had a hard time putting it down. These books always keep me guessing. I'll admit a few tears were shed towards the end.
I love this series by J A Writing and have from book one. If you love a cozy with just a little bit of magic and characters you will love this series is a must read.
