Cramming for her upcoming exam, college junior Stella Reynolds finds her favorite professor dead in his office. When her roommate Rachel is arrested for the murder, Stella is convinced they have the wrong person. She must set her studies aside to prove her friend’s innocense.
The professor was no angel, and a number of possible suspects lurk dangerously close. In the meantime, an unscrupulous local reporter is maliciously fanning the flames of controversy.
Detectives on the case are refusing to listen to new evidence, determined to let Rachel take the fall.
When someone sneaks the murder weapon into her apartment, Stella realizes she’s in very real danger. Someone has a deadly secret and Stella must reveal the real killer before they strike again.
What a delightful story. Lighthearted mystery. Stella tries to find the truth about the professor’s murder. She definitely doesn’t want the wrong person accused. Loved it.
Synopsis: The Big Beginning is the prequel to the Stella Reynolds novels and is considered the origin story of how Stella started out her career as a reporter.
Review: Although it was nice to get an insight of how Stella become the reporter that she is, this novella was a nice light read. However, there were a few inconsistencies and grammatical errors. Some of the plot twists were written to be obvious when it wasn’t (ie: the name of the main suspect). I think I spent more time re-reading a sentence or paragraph to understand what was truly happening. Nevertheless, I cannot wait for new Stella releases!
