Relinquishing her career to step into her father’s footsteps as football owner/manager of the Killoden Centaurs was never part of Quinn Lawson’s plans. Then again, neither was coming face-to-face with her high school football crush, Damien Black.
Quinn certainly has her work cut out for her, needing to prove to the town and her own squad that she belongs. As if that isn’t challenging enough, she also has to fight Damien, reminding him that she’s the one on top, when his smoldering sapphire gaze makes it unequivocally clear that he’d much rather have her at the bottom.
Convincing the Centaurs, and faced with the overwhelming attraction between her and Damien—while still nursing the hurt over what he’d done nine years ago—Quinn knows the only way she’s getting out of this in one piece … is by Playing Offense.
Michelle Geel is a contemporary, steamy romance author, aka an endearing oddball who adores that her characters are strong-willed and unpredictable, and often drags her to places she hadn't envisioned.
"Love isn't just perfumed petals and sparkly rainbows." It's a motto her characters have adopted because as much as they may laugh or as fiercely angry or heartbroken they may be, just as hard do they make up and love.
She lives in South Africa with her two children and too many pets. She loves to laugh, enjoys playing netball when her knees allow and she has, to date, been unsuccessful in losing the recipe for a chocolate ganache cake that she's tired as hell of making.
This is a fun little read. A sort-of-second-chance-romance as a woman is reunited with her high -school crush in a sexy, heartfelt and sometimes dramatic love story.
Quinn Lawson has flipped her entire world upside down to fulfil her father’s dream as the owner/General Manager of an NFL team. She loves the sport and is determined to work hard, but she’s a newbie to the role, and she has her work cut out for her to get her players on side. And, just to make her life even more difficult, her old high school crush, Damien Black walks into her office. As an NFL player, he has been bought on by the coach as a consultant for her team, and he makes it very clear that he’s keen to get to know her again - in all the ways.
It’s hot and flirty, and the chemistry sizzles, but Quinn is still hurt from events that went down between them in the past so she’s trying hard to keep him at arm’s length. But an attraction as strong as theirs can only be denied for so long, and when they finally give in… holy freaking hotness!
It’s steamy and passionate, but Quinn is confused and still so hurt. There is drama, and there are things they need to work out before they can get their happy ending (plus, she’s still trying to prove herself at work). But Damien is a man determined to get his girl, and I loved watching it all play out as they face the hurdles between them and figure out where to from here.
This is a great little read. I loved Quinn and Damien as characters, and I love that the author was able to put so many feels into such a short novella. It feels like there is more story to be told, with certain elements only touched on and not really explored in detail, and I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but it was a happy one and I was glad to see these characters find their HEA.
This book dropped into my kindle during a stressful week in my life. Michelle Geel’s writing took me away from it all and immersed me in a world of action, emotions and hot sweaty hunky football players. Quinn Lawson is a fiesty, determined, passionate woman who deals with her hot headed high school crush Damien Black with flair. I love the way Michelle writes, her characters are well rounded and relatable. I fell in love with Quinn, her spunky attitude making her charming and quirky. I took my time warming to Damien but goodness he is a hunky jock. This book was everything I anticipated from Michelle.. I loved it!
Michelle Geel's Playing Offense is an amazing second chance tale that mixes steamy romance with football. The story is interesting and well written, the characters are well developed and relatable, and the chemistry sizzles and satisfies. I grabbed this book hoping for a book that would take me away from the stress of the world around me for a bit and put a smile on my face... this book definitely delivered.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Quinn takes over the Killoden Centaurs on the death of her father. She knows she's going to have an uphill battle as she's a woman in a man's world. She has some support from the Coach. But that's it. And then there's Damien. Damien Black. Her love of years gone by. Her angst and her torment are all centred on him. And Damien? He's used and abused Quinn one time too often... This is a second chances tale and I have to admit it's rather steamy! Happy Reading!
The mere fact that football was involved in this story had me excited, but man oh man, Michelle delivered so much more than that! A sizzling attraction between Quinn and Damien paired with one of the most satisfying resolutions of past wrongs I've read in a long time made this a Super Bowl winning read. Loved every word!
This sizzling second-chance sports romance is a must read! Quinn and Damien were intriguing to read as they danced around their feelings and tried to not give in to the temptation. When the person who caused such conflict and turmoil from years ago re-enters the picture, Quinn and Damien must struggle through these issues along with the those that she's facing as GM and getting her team to accept her. Loved their story!
I love Michelle Geel’s writing and was excited to read Playing Offense! Quinn is a confident, smart woman stepping into her fathers shoes to continue his legacy in a male dominated world. Damien was magnetic from the get go and I loved their chemistry. Even though it’s a short story it takes you on a full journey complete with an HEA. Highly recommend!
Quinn thought it would've been easy stepping in and filling the role as Owner and General Manager of a football team; just like her dad did. A job in sports that was mostly male-dominated. She was determined to bring the team on board into seeing that she had their best interests’ at heart, could hold her own and was highly qualified for the job.
Quinn also had to overcome past insecurities and figure out how she was going to work closely with Damien her secret crush from high school.
Playing Offense is a great second chance enemies-to-lovers romance. It was quick and consuming -with heated sexy scenes. I just love the chemistry between these two. Thank you Michelle Geel!
My this was quite the ride filled with past baggage and misunderstandings that led to tons of stubborn standoffs, simmering chemistry and an awesome happily ever after. I honestly wasn’t sure how things were going to go between Quinn and Damien, there was so much back and forth between them it was like a tennis match! They each gave as good as they got which made for a entertaining story.
I just loved, loved it! Quinn’s determination and hotheadedness makes me want to be badass. And as the story unfolded I couldn’t help but miss the man in my life who I only get to see on weekends. Thanks for drawing me in to this beautiful story and keeping my attention! And thanks for the privilege of letting me read it.
It takes a lot of grit and determination to remain a strong woman in a male dominated world like football. Quinn has the determination and the brains to run a mens football club especially when part of her desire to do well is fuelled on by keeping her fathers dream alive. Not only does she have a team of men to try to get on her side she also has her high school crush turn up. Will Quinn get her happiness with the team and can she move on from past wounds with her crush? This is a great fast moving short story that flows really well. There is some sizzling sex scenes that are well written and fit well into the story.
