A former thief set on revenge. A younger man cut off by his wealthy family. This marriage is in name only.

Kannon Jeffers knows a thing or two about regret. Cut off from his powerful and influential family, he’s betrayed the last person he’d ever want to hurt. Now he’s alone, doing things he never thought he would for money. Focused on getting back into his family’s good graces, he doesn’t have time for anything else.
Until an enigmatic stranger blackmails him into marriage.

Preacher has been biding his time to carry out a death-bed promise. One look at Kannon and his plans shift into overdrive. Blackmailing him is easy enough, but living with Kannon, keeping secrets from him, is harder. Because despite the unflappable front he projects, Preacher has been craving his husband from the second their eyes met.

A former criminal and a spoiled rich kid shouldn’t have anything in common, but they do. A marriage neither man wanted morphs into something more as they find themselves helpless against the heat between them. It could all be real, if only Preacher can lay his past to rest without destroying himself and Kannon in the process.

Craving You is the second book in the Dread+Terrible series but can be read as a standalone. It’s light on angst, heavy on heat, and features an MC who loves makeup and feminine clothes, age-gap romance, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and sexy times in an elevator. Also, there are some naughty moments with high heels. As with any of Avril’s books, there is no cheating and you can always expect a Happily Ever After.

"You surprised me, Kannon Jeffers."
"Boisclair." It just burst from him and he licked his lips nervously. "It's Kannon Jeffers-Boisclair."
Preacher's nostrils flared. "Yes. My mistake."

I should have listened to you guys and your raving reviews because honestly Craving You is one of the best books I have read so far for this year. We got age-gap, fake marriage, and enemies to lovers in this. And my heart is just so full right now because it turned out that the book was more than that. I love Preacher and Kannon and their strong growth all through out. I love how Kannon was taken out of his comfortable bubble to see how things are really going.

"Open your eyes," Preacher growled at his ear. He nipped Kannon's earlobe. "Open your fucking eyes, Kannon."

The intimacy here was fucking crazy. All the back hugs from Preacher and kissing Kannon's neck ended me. I read the 'Let Me Go' scene in the earlier chapters a bunch of times before going to sleep last night because I felt crazy addicted. The sex was really good too but the back hugs and Preacher grabbing Kannon's wrist before the latter goes away made me mental. Overall, the hype is real and very much deserved for this book. Read it!!!!

"Nowhere else I'd rather be but with you, Kannon Jeffers-Boisclair."

(this is me being silly!!)
To Avril,
Hey queen! Girl, you have done it again. Constantly raising the bar for us all and doing it flawlessly.

3.5*

I read Keri’s book Distract Me first and I was intrigued by Kannon and Preacher. So I decided to back track and read their story.

It proved to be an enjoyable read if maybe a little long in the middle. Kannon was simply fabulous and Preacher….well who doesn’t like a handsome, dark and brooding man?

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.5 stars

It’s great when the title of book really fits the story and Craving You is the perfect description for how Preacher and Kannon feel about each other, as the craving they have for each other is potent throughout the entire book. Craving You follows Remember Me in the Dread+Terrible series and the relationship between Preacher and Kannon is new to this book and the core of their interactions do stand alone. However, Preacher and all the men in this book have a long history that crosses books and reading an Ashton book is an entire mood and an entire vibe. While there are well placed and concise references made, I certainly appreciated knowing all that had transpired along the way.

Craving You is lighter on the angst and darkness for an Ashton book. Preacher and Kannon are all fierce and fire and confrontation, mixed with tender moments, vulnerability, and some high heeled shoe kink as they navigate the feelings they don’t think they want to have as they carve out their own happy ever after.

"I see you over there staring, think you can afford me?"

this book was everything i needed after a 3 week break from reading books *prepares to be stoned* BUT after all this time, reading a book felt like ✨bliss✨

i had my ass glued to my bed for 6 hours straight and let me ya'll something, every second of it was worth it.

"I like when you do that,"
"When you open my door," Kannon told him in a husky voice. "When you take my hand." His lashes lowered then lifted just as quickly, and his eyes overflowing with need—were a punch to the throat, taking Preacher’s breath. "When you touch me, period."

Kannon is deemed a big 'fuck-up' in his family. From his way of dressing to his partying, to his not working, everything in him, that makes him is criticised. He is always compared to his brother- Keri, like a standard he can never reach.

"Your pronouns. What are they?"
"Wh—Um. He. Him?"
Preacher cocked his head. "Are you asking?"
The anger came back full force, flooding narrowed eyes. "My pronouns are he and him," Kannon stressed through gritted teeth.

But then comes along Étite Boisclair or Preacher, who is all dark and mysterious and gets Kan all hot and bothered *wink wink* But he not like the others, he sees Kan, not as a fuck up but as someone so beautiful who deserves to be loved.

"You’re stunning, Kannon." It came out sounding hoarse. He didn’t know why he was on the floor staring up at a man he was supposed to hate. A man who now wore his ring and carried his last name

i loved how their relationship progressed and how supportive all of Preacher's friends were of it. The book was fantastic and a page turner that had me curious to see what was to come.

He curled his fingers, clawing at the front of Preacher’s shirt, grabbing him and holding on. Holding on even as his mouth moved again. "Let me go."

the dynamics with Preacher's revenge and Kan being his way of extracting it, was very intriguing and i was honestly excited to see how it was all played out in the end! But needless to say, the author definitely didn't disappoint!

Preacher’s lips twitched. "You surprise me, Kannon Jeffers."
“Boisclair.” It just burst from him and he licked his lips nervously. "It’s Kannon Jeffers-Boisclair."
Preacher’s nostrils flared. "Yes. My mistake."

i loved every second of this book and am definitely curious to see more by this author! if you're looking for a very steamy and angsty m/m romance with two amazing men who are out to get what they want, i would highly recommend this one!

"I love you." Preacher released his mouth, dropping kisses along his jaw, up to his ear and back down, sucking on his neck. "Fucking love you."

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Well, slap my a$$ and call me Sally....

This is probably Avril's fluffiest book to date... or as fluffy as an #AvrilAshton book could get.
I mean, there is angst, and an antihero, but it read very sweet and had so many feels!

So lets break it down....

****Highly Recommended Heels****

Why should you read this book...

1. The Characters:
Emile Boisclaire, aka Preacher, is a big beautiful black multimillionaire. He is surrounded by his best friends/family/fuckbuddies, and has everything he ever wanted expect one thing. He's got revenge on the brain and Kannon in his sights. #IveGotMyEyesOnYou

Kannon Jeffers, aka Kan, is pretty, wears makeup, dresses and heels that turn Preacher on to no end. Even though Kannon is a means to an end, he worms his way inside Preacher's heart and soul. #DidntSeeYouComing

2. The Plot:
The plot evolves really well from the beginning. From revenge, to sex and attraction, to affection and more. Each man didn't expect what the other would come to mean to him. Although the lust and attraction were there from the beginning, there was no mistaking the connection that hooked both men together. #ChangeIsInTheHorizon

3. The Romance:
See Ms. Avril is one author who does love REALLY WELL. Despite the fact that her men are on the wrong side of the law, you cant help but root for them, cheer them on and want them to be happy. this book is no exception.
Even their HOT AF sex was a way to express their feeling towards each other. their first sex scene, transcended a mere hookup status for me, because of how it happened and that it actually did in the first place. Then came the feels.... Preacher who didn't for a second think that Kannon would ever be more than a way to avenge his mom, thawed toward Kannon when he saw the real man underneath all that make up and fake bravado. the intimate moments, especially the nonsexual ones, the way Preacher stood up for a "fake husband", the way he practically wooed him without him realizing what he was doing.
Kannon's empathy, self deprecation, guilt and surrender to his feelings were beautiful to read...although it took me a while to warm up to him.
All that and so much more... #ILovedYouBeforeIKnewYou

4. The Heat...
Its no surprise that Avril writes some smoking hot sex scenes. and this book..... PHEW! I mean, heels are involved....and the heels get very intimate with Preacher's body...AHEM!
Also, two Vers men are always a bonus in MM IMO.

5. The Rep...
Preacher is black and demisexual, Kannon is black and femme. Both are VERS! What more could I have asked for? #AllTheStops

6. The Cameos:
This is one of my favorite things about reading an #avrilAshton book. ALL THE CAMEOS! Revisiting some characters, even for a bit is such a joy! And then the little tidbits to what's coming next... #Tease

6. The HEA...
Again.... ALL THE FEELS! THOSE MEN ARE THE SWEETEST I SWEAR.
Excuse the shouty capitals. Anywhoooo, their HEA after what goes down, even though it's not #AngstCentral is sweet all the same. #RightInTheFeels

#HappyReading

First of all , I 'm a sucker for kink and age-play. That's why this book was such a pleasure to read
from start to finish .

Craving You is an engrossing ,panting melting hell of a story with a lot of kink and smoldering hot sex scenes .

That heel on his back made him burn too, and he feared by the time Kannon was done with him, he'd be nothing but a pile of ash blowing in the wind .

Loved both Kannon and Preacher . Their chemistry is great . Even without physical contact the tension
is very palpable .
Together they were a Molotov cocktail to Preacher's senses, drenching him in flames. 💖

I have no words to explain how much I LOVED this book. Avril is well known for some heavy angsty book and it was a bliss to read one that is quite the opposite. Kan & Preach are sweet, fun, adorable and hot as hell together. This one gave me all the feels, and will definitely go to the reread pile.

When Revenge is just not Enough...

Preacher was the de-facto leader of the Dread+Terrible crew known for fixing everyone's mess while hiding all his pain behind the "I've got it all together" facade. Unbeknownst to them, Preacher was floundering and needed to get out of the pain of his past.

Kannon was...spoiled, No two ways about it but he was also quite lonely. It took being cut off financially from his family(deservedly) and his entanglement with Preacher to get his head in straight. Of course, his initial agreement to Preacher's scheme was out of desperation and was just another act of rebellion against his family who belittle him at every turn and he felt had abandoned him.

The "relationship" between these two started off very very rocky. Preacher was uber focused on his revenge and Kannon was resigned from being blakmailed into the scheme. The phrase "I do not like you" was use very frequently 😂

Then, as time went on hidden depths to Kannon were revealed as well as innate softness in Preacher. Their interactions made me smile and I think they might be my second favourite couple in this universe after Reggie&Is.

So yeah, even though this was not a dark romance like most of her books are, I absolutely loved it and all its twists and turns. I will say they Kannon forgave him a bit too easily for my liking but that's just my petty speaking 😂😂

Also, I think I know why this book was released before Priest & Kyo's book(which is next) because we needed a "palate cleanser" before the mountain of angst that book is sure to bring. CAN NOT WAIT.

This is Kannon Jeffers and Preacher’s story.

The initially cold and sometimes mean to Kannon, Preacher, ended up being every thing Kannon never knew he needed. I love when a blackmail story end up healing scars, bringing up secrets and ultimately helping the MC. As it did in this case with Kannon.

I loved how Kannon was so sweet and real and tore down Preachers walls! It was truly beautiful. I found it a bit too long and dragged out at times.

I wanted to skip chapters at one point because I felt as though I wanted to scream at how Preacher kept assuming Kannon and him “couldn’t work out” when the whole time I was thinking, dude seriously just tell the guy your plan it’s not that serious he won’t be that upset.

Loved how Kannon got his revenge in the end for his family being so disgusting.

I recommend.

Promises

This book left me breathless. It’s beautiful, emotional, sexy and full of so much love I felt it reach from the pages and grab my heart. These men, this family, they leave an indelible mark on your soul. “There was magic in this, in the way Kannon looked at him, the way he begged for more.” Seeing Kannon and Preacher heal—and heel—each other was everything. They bring light and peace and a whole heap of fire to their lives. They’re combustible in more than one way and I devoured this book with as I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out. Amazing characters, world-building and writing you won’t want to miss. I promise you’ll fall in love.

I came across this book in a very interesting manner. I was browsing through the screenshots on my phone when I came across a random screenshot of a review of this very book. However, that particular screenshot didn't contain the name of the book but thankfully my google search for Kannon + Preacher + Ashton got me to this book.

The part of the review that was captured on my phone was so amazingly written that I read the book just on the basis of that. The review in question, for anyone interested, can be found here and can I just say this book totally lived up to it.

This is the third book in a series but I read it as a standalone and it worked very well. In fact, the book is so good that I can't wait to read the rest in the series and I'm particularly looking forward to the next book in the series.

I fell in love with Preacher very quickly because he has a lot of respect for the people around him and I think the best thing about him which was the reason everyone including Kannon fell in love with him, is that he manages to be respectable in his own head. Preacher refers to Kannon with gender-neutral pronouns till he can confirm Kannon's pronouns for sure and that's just a level of detail that adds immensely to Preacher's character and well, Kannon agrees. Also, this is a really subtle way of communicating so much about Preacher's personality that even though he is the one blackmailing Kannon, you never doubt his integrity or the level of respect he has for Kannon and frankly, for all the people around him.

Kannon took a little getting used to, he is a spoilt brat but Kannon is also very vulnerable and a lot of his personality is bluster to hid just how vulnerable he is and it took time but I fell in love with Kannon too.

This story is really amazing, it takes a little time to take-off and that might have to do with the fact that you are expecting them to get married. I read this book as a part of KU and on Amazon, this book is titled as "Craving You: Age Gap, Blackmailed into Marriage MM Romance (Dread+Terrible)". So, in such a scenario love generally follows the marriage and not the other way round but things can't really get going before they get married. This is probably why I felt like the beginning of the book that features the setup to the blackmail and the marriage wasn't as interesting mostly because you know where it's headed and partly because I hadn't come around on Kannon till then. But, once you cross that point this book picks up pace really well and it had me so hooked that I kept reading into the wee hours of the night.

This book is so interesting and I'm finding it hard to say just what about this book is so amazing but it truly was, like the plot was well-paced, the romance was off the charts and I loved Kannon and Preacher together so much. These two were perfect together. I really enjoyed reading this and I'm really looking forward to the next in this series because the angst in that one will be off the charts!!

Preacher has always been the man with the plan. The born leader of their rag tag crew.

Preacher is so used to being in charge and not one who feels he can shirk any of his demons on anyone else. Always there to be the voice of reason. Being responsible for beyond one else happiness. Not believing he deserves his own. He come with a plan to avenge his mother and to do that he blackmail the younger grandson of the man who wronged his mother. Kannon is a lost sole. Parents kicks him to the curve for one more screw up that costs a friend her life. He made an investment on a condo in the hotel that Preacher owns. Not knowing his life was going to change even more drastically once Preacher get his hands on him. Blackmail is such a dirty word but Preacher doesn't care. Thinking that Kannon is a spoiled rich kid with no responsibility. Forces his hand in marriage. Cut and dry or so Preacher thinks. As they get to know each other and their lives start swirling together feeling develop. Preacher follows through with his plans but does that mean he he destroy one of the best things that happen in his life? Pretty good story here. The suspense leading up to the ending is pretty epic. Couldn't put this book down.

3.5 So torn

First of all, this needs to be listed as erotica. At least forty percent is sex. It’s emotional and moves the story along, so it’s hard to skim past. It was a little bit over the top. So be prepared, because it is graphic.

The characters were engaging and I absolutely loved Kannon. He was deep and more intriguing than I’d first thought he would be. The characters did change rather quickly. Most often in life it takes more than a few weeks to become a whole new you, but fiction is fiction and it’s typical of romance.

The relationship between all the men is kinda hard to embrace. I get where the author is coming from, but it never failed to be weird for me. Even siblings aren’t that close, especially the decades of sex. That would be eew. But that could just be me.

The random inclusion of gangster lingo never failed to catch me off guard. I appreciate there wasn’t more though. They’re adults and 99% of the time spoke like it. So that’s why it was a shock when it slipped in and out. Again, that could just be me. But I did enjoy the story and finished it in two days. In my opinion it’s better than the first. Since I’d been disappointed with that one, it had taken me two tries for this one. I’m glad I did it.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have not read any other book in this series or set in this world.

I absolutely loved this book. Preacher and Kannon were marvelous together. Although they came to together under an auspicious start, what grew was a scorching hot relationship full of sexiness and affection. I loved watching Kan grow as a person under Preacher’s watchful gaze. He really came into his own.

Preacher was sexy and confident. He held his found family in the highest of regards. He was hard when he needed to be but was soft when it counted. He and Kan were fire together. Kannon’s high heels were the star of many a a scene. Whew.

Avril Ashton created characters that I found difficult to not love. She writes in a way that is normal and makes you relate to the characters. The language isn’t stilted and it flows. You can feel the affection Preacher has for his family leaping off the page. This was an excellent read.

Another great book by Avril Ashton!
Can't wait to read more!!

Preacher and Kannon have great chemistry since day one! They are made for each other but the road to happiness is not easy for both of them.

I really like Kannon's growth, I hope we'll see him again soon!

Preacher has been plotting revenge for years and years. He promised to do justice to his mother and he always keeps his promises!
In order to do so, he decides to blackmail Kannon into marrying him. Preacher wants to use him to ruin his family, those responsible for his mother's death.
He didn't count on falling in love with his husband!

Kannon is always compared to his brother, always diminished, always discarded...
He accept Preacher's marriage in order to hide his secrets...
But Preacher is good to him, Kannon finally feels like he matters... But is it real?

I have been waiting for this book for a long time and it did not disappoint. With the aged gap, blackmail, enemies to lovers, it has everything you need in a book. While Preacher is seeking revenge he finds an unexpected kink in his plan, Kannon Jeffers. I loved that Kannon was different from Avril has written in the past and while Preacher helps him see what he has been missing, you get to read what Preacher needed all along.

I wish we got to read more about the secondary characters and their interactions and it seemed like it ended too quickly. I thought Kannon would take a while to forgive Kannon but the book seemed to have a quick ending. Overall it was a great read and I can't wait for the next one.

A much anticipated story in this series and it was definitely worth the wait.
Preacher is on a path of revenge and what best way to achieve that than to blackmail a disowned heir.
Kannon, though is not what Preacher expects and the chemistry between them is explosive.
As their journey begins so does a healing for them both and maybe they’ve both been blackmailed into love.

A story best read in order of this series as the supporting characters add to the plot and enrich this tale.
There is angst, an age gap, an enemies to lovers feel, wonderful growth displayed by both main characters and all the passion we’ve some to expect from Ms Ashton.
An enjoyable, engaging read. I look forward to the next in the series.

This might just be the least dark book from Avril that I've read, I feel like I kept waiting for the big boom twisted situation or resolution of the plot, but it ended up being quite smooth considering my previous reads. Not to say that I didn't like the book, cuz I actually really love it.

As per usual, the connection and pull between Kannon and Preacher was off the charts, the intimacy was next level!!!, and I mean, not only in the sexual matter (that was like totally panties melted, fan needed, plus the addition of heel kink), but also, in the little touches and approximations to each other, that was marvellous. A great addition to the series, and Im definitely looking forward to continuing!.

This is not your typical love story. If you are expecting sunshine and roses, step away now. But if a heart wrenching, heartbreaking storyline tickles your fancy, jump right in. This book is one of Avril’s Dread and Terrible series and it lives up to its name. Preacher and Kannon live like they love, intense with a side of danger, and it is prominently shown throughout the book. It’s beautifully written with characters that jump off the page at you. I couldn’t put it down and cannot wait to see who’s the next to fall. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts and feelings after reading an advanced readers copy.

Another crazy hot romance

Avril Ashton brings us stories and characters you can't find anywhere else. This book, like Remember Me, starts off with a couple of men who seem on the edge of being intolerable humans for their excesses and self-centered behavior, and then she gradually peels it all back and shows you their vulnerable, loveable humanity until you adore them and can't wait to see them learn to love each other. She's bringing us action, suspense, and plenty of hilarious dialogue between her smart, fascinating characters. Plus there's all the scorching hot sex, which is also creative as hell and nothing like any romance I've read before!

Amazing!

This story was poetic, beautiful, and powerful. I loved every character that was in it. Even the "bad" ones were written sharply and with dimension. Watching Kannon and Preacher fall in love was fantastic. They were each such fun characters to read and how they complimented each other was a huge draw for me. The easy back and forth between them, sexually and emotionally. Yum.

This is my first book by this author and I wasn't sure how I'd like it. I read all the amazing reviews but was still unsure. Thank goodness I took the plunge. Such beautiful storytelling. I am definitely reading more from this author! Already have a few in my TBR pile.

PREACH...

I was hesitant to read this bc it was 3rd POV and I do not personally like reading that POV, but I enjoyed this story. Their chemistry was fire. There was drama, angst, and Growth.
Did I want more groveling? Yes! But I understood the whys and who's.
I found myself getting animated with these two.
I loved the dynamic of the family-the real family- and will read the next book.
The writing style was refreshing and I'm glad to have found this author. Made me enjoy reading 3POV.

Yess Avril Ashton did a great job with this book Craving You
From the beginning of the story I was so invested in preacher character a man who been through alot but still has a great supporting group of men that are his family. So when we meet Kannon character these 2 men chemistry is smoking hot. But the road ahead of them will take you on a wild journey. I definitely was invested in the story plot and I couldn't put this book down.

Wow!! So many amazing things I want to say about this book... I absolutely LOVED Preacher and Kannon sooooo much!!! I loved Kannon’s vibrancy and growth throughout the story and how Preacher finally opened his heart. I have followed all these characters on their journey and I have always loved Preacher’s steadfastness and love for his men...to finally get his story and for him to get his HEA is wonderful!! He and Kannon are beautiful together.
