As leader of the Shadow wolves, Valeria has had more than her share of heartache and burdens. Family taken by the curse, a mate that abandoned her, and a pack losing faith in their leader. McKenzie was supposed to be on her way to college where she'd have the freedom from the coven she always longed for. But when the worldwide spell went wrong and magic failed them, she was left to take her sister's place as Queen of Savannah. Now, she must figure out a way to stop the curse from claiming more lives and if she has to make a deal with the notorious heartless heir, Prince Ryn of the vampires, to do it, so be it. But when he turns out to be nothing like the rumors say can she deny the pull she feels toward him? Can she trust him or is it all just an act to destroy her and her witches?
A broken world left to the teens. Society has collapsed and the clock is ticking. Can the survivors come together to stop the curse before it claims them too?
Order is book one of a suspenseful, post-apocalyptic paranormal series filled with magic, danger, and forbidden romances. Perfect for fans of The Originals, Vampire Diaries, and Twilight. Order book 1 in The Blood Moon Covenant was fabulous!!! I loved it from start to finish! It had awesome characters and not just the main but secondary as well. And the writing was superb with a storyline that was engaging and pulled you into this world of witches, vampires and werewolves who are at war with each other and the humans that are left after a curse that killed all the adults and children and left only the in teens alive. It's up to the witches to break the spell or all will die one by one when they become adults. I loved both the two main female leads they both have been put into leader roles and both have had to fight for respect of their people and prove time and again way they deserve to rule. McKenzie is the witch queen and head of her coven and is very powerful, but their are rogue witches and others who continue to undermine her rule and she's not the only one having trouble in this new world. Valerie the alpha of shadow wolves has had to step up and lead solo after her mate takes off to get revenge for one of their own and it's a fight from the beginning to rule the pack and keep them safe and things go from bad to worse when Diego leader of the red wolves turns his sight on both McKenzie and valerie! Not only are they protecting humans but they want to start a alliance between the witches, vampires ,werewolves and humans to stop the death and destruction that has hit this post-apocalyptic world. One of the best books I've read this year!! R.L. Medina is a fabulous storyteller and how she wrote characters with such depth and angst and growing pains was spot on and I can't wait for book 2 in this series!!! Until next time Luv's💕💋
A curse that shattered the world. Teens left behind scrambling for power. Where society has collapsed and the clock is ticking, can the survivors come together to stop the curse before it claims them too?
It’s been six months since a mysterious worldwide disease targeting the youngest appeared out of nowhere. An attempt by the witches to cast a spell to stop it, backfired, when it killed everyone apart from those stuck between childhood and adulthood.
As the leader of the Shadow Wolves, Valeria has had her fair share of heartache and burdens. Her family was decimated by the curse, her mate, Elijah has abandoned her and her pack are losing faith in their leader. When a human boy begs for her help against a rival pack, she comes to realise that she can no longer ignore the cruelty of her kind. Unfortunately by helping him, Valeria has put not only her pack at risk but her heart..
McKenzie was on her way to college where she would have had the freedom from the coven she always longed for. When the worldwide spell went wrong, she was left to take her sister’s place as Queen of Savannah. Now she must figure out a way to stop the curse from claiming more lives. If this means making a deal with the notorious Prince Ren of the vampires to do it then so be it. But when he turns out to be nothing like the rumours say, can she deny the pull she feels towards him and trust him or is it all just an act to destroy her and her witches? One thing is apparent, in a battle between witches, vampires, werewolves, and humans only the strongest will survive...
Order is the first intriguing instalment of the post apocalyptic paranormal Blood Moon Covenant series. Having previously read the highly entertaining GRIMM Academy series, I was familiar with the author’s work so I was excited to read her latest debut series. From the offset, I found myself totally immersed in the premise of the story. This was by no means a quick read and it became apparent early on that a lot of thought had been put into the intricate world building. We have witches, wolves, humans and vampires (each with a complicated history and mistrustful of the other) vying for resources and dominance over the other in a world where the clock is ticking as those who reach the age of 20, die as a result of the curse.
The characters were complex and believable. Valeria and McKenzie are both appealing protagonists with striking similarities. Both are reluctant leaders who were thrust into their roles by default. Both are struggling to assert their authority and earn the respect of their Pack/Coven. Both have doubts about their abilities to keep their people safe. Both are continually undermined by some their followers. Diego, the leader of their rival pack poses the greatest threat to Valeria while McKenzie must determine whether or not to trust and align herself with two vampire brothers - Fane and Ryn - in order to break the barrier restricting them from movement. Prince Ryn was an interesting character and I hope we’ll learn more about his background. I particularly liked the chemistry between him and Kenzie.
All in all this was a well crafted suspenseful novel with phenomenal world building and action that progressed at a good pace. I look forward to reading the follow up book.
This Was Something New & Excitingly Different!!👍🙏🎉 Emotive, Tension & Violence!💔😢💕😲💥 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Order (Blood Moon Covenant #1)
This is a new to me Author that I'm glad I found. I always enjoy a new spin on vampires, witches, werewolves & human's at war.😱💥 This is set in a future where a disease decimated the world's population of children, no one could find a cause or cure. They eventually turned to the Witches & their magic. The spell they cast included every races blood with one adult sacrificing themselves, willing, for every child left!🙏 Unfortunately it backfired spectacularly, the only ones left alive were aged between 13 and 19 years old, all those above & below died!💔 When you reach 20 years you still die.😲 All technology failed during the spell too so the teens are plunged back into the dark ages!
As humans tend to do when they're scared or feel threated, they go on the attack to try to gain dominance over everyone in & around Savannah, where this is set in its entirety.😡 You can only imagine the carnage.😢💔
This was an absolutely fascinating read. I loved the push & pull between the differing factions wanting total cooperation & peace versus those that just want power & dominance over everyone else! The violence inflicted, thankfully not discussed or seen too directly, showed everyone at their worst!😔 I was also gripped by the self doubt, uncertainty & fear the female Alpha & Queen Witch both had about their choices, decisions and orders, it was really grounding & brought them both into the realms of feeling real to me, even though they aren't strictly human! I think the Author has written a really intriguing first book in this series. I initially found the storyline swapping from wolves to witches & vice versa a bit jarring, but it needed to be that way because later in the book the storylines meld together so it all zips up beautifully!😍 I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with the character's I've become so invested in! Especially what becomes of the forbidden feelings that are brewing between certain characters.💕🔥 I definitely recommend this one if, like me, you enjoy the races mixing, warring and uniting but in a fresh new way!💕🌟
This story went above and beyond. I loved reading this novel. The author did an amazing job. I'm in awe of the characters and how they were different entities... amazing
I received this as a gift from the author and I was so excited to finally read it!
A quick read full of dialogue and relationships. It reminded me of the vibes Vampire Diaries or The Originals give off - full of otherworldly creatures as well as humans where everyone who isn’t between 13-19 years old has disappeared due to a curse. Full of enemies, weary alliances and romance (even if it is a fairly obvious enemy to lovers troupe with the dark prince vampires), it was still enjoyable.
I loved the premise of this book - a post apocalyptic and urban fantasy mash up. Its sort of like the Vampire Diaries and the Originals got injected with a tiny dose of The Walking Dead. There's Witches, Vampires, Werewolves and humans - and between a plague and a curse there are no longer any kids or any adults. That's right turning 20 is a death sentence (if all the other danger doesn't kill you first).
It starts in media res which I love - no long drawn out backstory here - and she only fills you in on the necessary pieces as the story moves along. It's told from two different perspectives, McKenzie the reluctant Queen of the Witch Coven and current overseer of the city of Savannah, and Valeria a Werewolf who now finds herself Alpha (their previous Alpha has abandoned them) of a renegade pack hiding out in the woods. Add in a vicious werewolf, Diego, who has no problem enslaving humans, and wants to take over the whole city of Savannah (and has no compunction in killing anyone to accomplish this) along with Fane a flamboyant and slippery Vampire Prince who you love to hate (or is it hate to love? I couldn't decide lol), along with a pair of human Twins on the run, Elijah the Alpha who abandoned his pack in order to get revenge, a recently resurrected Vampire Prince, and a whole slew of Witches rising from the grave and you've got a hint of action in this book.
So many great motives, cross-currents, betrayals, love triangles, and more going on here. This would make the perfect TV show, you have your main characters which are great, especially the two strong female leads, trying to be strong (even in those moments when they are not), plus a great supporting cast all with their own wants/needs, and hidden agendas.
Super fast paced, this never lagged - I think I read it in two sittings with only a brief break in between - obviously I couldn't put it down. Perfect for YA readers, and those older readers who enjoy the genre (like me:). This book definitely deserves a wider audience - spread the word!
This interesting and exciting story follows the residents of Savannah after a coven of witches cast a spell that backfired on them and causes all children up to age twelve and all adults age twenty and up to die, forcing them to place a barrier over their city to contain everyone. In the chaos that followed, the humans were overran and enslaved or killed by vampires, witches and werewolves. The story revolves around the queen of witches and her coven and her struggles as she tries to find a spell to undo the curse that has been placed upon them and remove the barrier. As well as try to make peace with all of the others in Savannah. The story also involves the two vampire princes and their clans and their mysterious ways. Then the werewolf packs there for a one aggressive pack in the city trying to overcome all packs and then there is a pack on the outskirts of town. Next are the humans, what are left are in hiding because the werewolves hunt them and kill them, change them, enslave them or give them to vampires. As the main characters come together they try to find a way to bring peace to Savannah to unite its residents and find the way to break the barrier and the curse. Fun read
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Great start to this new series. This book is told from two different viewpoints during the same timeline - Kenzie (queen of the witch coven) and Val (alpha of one of the werewolf packs).
In Savannah, different factions are warring: human, werewolf, vampire, and witch. It's 6 months after everyone is killed except teenagers. The only exception is vampires who are technically older than 19, but were turned as teens.
RLM gives both narrators distinct voices, forbidden romance, clear strengths, and vulnerability. She keeps you engaged as a reader without overusing cliffhangers to end chapters and swap narrators, which is a big plus for me.
This story felt fresh, intense, fast-paced, and ended on a note of hope in a world that had fallen apart. I'm definitely looking forward to the second book!
This is a really interesting mesh of post apocalyptic and paranormal. The circumstances of the epidemic combined with the magic that obliterated everyone but the teenagers is very creative. What results is a Lord of the Flies type situation, except with witches, werewolves, vampires, and humans.
Relationships underscore the plot line in a major way. My measurement of a successfully written relationship is whether or not I experience anxiety for the characters. I experienced that in spades here. We have two Romeo and Juliet situations that, while similar, still read as very individual. Can't wait to see where this story goes next.
This author is turning into a favorite of mine easily! I’ve read quite a few of her books without even knowing, that’s how amazing she is. This book is no different. It’s a wonderful start to such an incredible new series. It’s unique. It’s written wonderfully, as always! It’s flows easily causing it to be a fast read. Sucked me in from the very beginning. Love the characters and how they have to step into their new roles to try and keep peace. They have some tough decisions for being teenagers. This story works so well and can’t wait for book two.
I'm so happy I had the privilege to read this amazing book! The storyline was new, exciting, and filled with tension. Set in a post-apocalyptic setting, it's combind with urban fantasy, making it that much more appealing! Fantasy is always my go-to for most reads, so I thoroughly enjoyed the different spin of the normal supernatural night beings (witches, werewolves, vampires). Truly, this is a great read, and I highly suggest for anyone to read this!
I really enjoyed this fast paced action packed new series. It sucked me in the from the start & kept my attention to the end. I especially like how it's told in the 2 different female perspectives. Allowing the reader to see multiple sides of the story. The world the author has created for this series is intriguing & I definitely am looking forward to more.
I really enjoyed the story of the witch Queen McKenzie and the alpha werewolf, Valeria. These are two strong leaders that doubt themselves at every turn but do the jobs that they need to do to try to save their coven/pack, vampires and humans.
I didn’t want to put it down and look forward to the next book in their saga.
Such a great start to a series!!! Great characters - loved the interaction between the witches, vampires, wolves and humans. Loved the world building! Loved that it’s not the typical us against them story, it’s twisty and interesting! I have SO MANY QUESTIONS for the next book in the series! I can’t wait!
I really liked having two main characters especially with one werewolf and one wolf. I like the plot Unfortunately I didn't click with the characters ( nothing to do with the writing it's me maybe it wasn't the right time for me to read this book) The writing was good.
I totally loved the paranormal aspects in this story. Great characters, fascinating storyline and an intriguing drama with bits of mystery and romance - what more could you ask for in a story.
I requested a copy of this book so I could provide an honest review.
My first read by RL Medina. I really enjoyed it! It was way more than I was expecting, it was great actually! I flew through the book and would love to read more of this author’s work.
I’ll be getting my brains together and post my review after I get some sleep 😂
EDIT: December 25, 2020
I’m finally catching up on my reviews 🥳🎊🎉
This is my second read from this author and I truly enjoyed Shifters and Secrets so I’m pretty excited about reading this one 🤩
Okay, I’m gonna be as direct as I can with this. I love the premise of the book and how the author has me so swept up in both Valeria and McKenzie’s POV. The characters are so well written that you want to root for all of them!
As a gal who loves a good world building, I commend the author for being able to transport me and into this world with such a short read. It’s got everything I wanted to see in a fantasy book, all manners of creatures, vamps, witches, wolves, etc., and I devoured it! I seriously cannot wait for the next installment because I want MORE!
Really enjoyed the book. I was recommending it while I was only a few chapters in, I still do after finishing. Spoiler: I thought kohl was going to be a traitor, but he’s not he is truly in love with the queen. I am in love with both Ryn and Fane. I loved the love triangle and honestly wanted more of them. What I was started to dislike about the book were the werewolves. The chapters involving them had funny moments like “Um no, drew, let’s not give the werewolf a weapon.” At the beginning I was liking seeing the different views and I felt that Drew and Val had chemistry but near the end their chapters started to lack for me. For instance the chapter of them trying to kidnap Silvia, it wasn’t needed at all and not a great filler since it didn’t add anything to storyline. I’m not even sure if I was Val and Elijah to end up together. Other than that I still really liked the book and can’t wait to read what comes next.
I couldn’t put Order down! I’m a big fan of anything involving vampires, wolves, and witches, and this book delivered on all fronts. It was compelling to see how the characters dealt with tough situations both within their groups and in their interactions with humans. The way the relationships are developing is really intriguing, especially since they’re portrayed in a unique way that I didn’t expect.
One thing that did bug me a bit was the lovesick best friend—it felt a bit too insistent and unfair at times. But despite that, I’m hooked and definitely need more of this story. I’m really curious to see what happens next, especially now that one of the big challenges has been somewhat resolved.
Wow wow wow!! So I was kindly gifted an ARC by the author and I’m so grateful because this book was sensational!!
We follow 2 POV’s: Valeria who is alpha of the shadow wolves and McKenzie who is queen of the witches.
A nasty curse has killed all of the children u see 13 and when the witches try to rid the world of the curse they fail and actually succeed in killing anyone over the age of 19!
This book had everything: wolves, witches, vampires, a deadly curse, a fight for survival! It had post apocalyptic/dystopian vibes to me and I ate this up reading it in 2 days! U can bet I’ll be getting book 2 as soon as it’s available! Just incredible!
Very well built dystopian world with witches, wolves and vampires….what else could you really ask for! I immediately sunk into this story and was hooked by chapter 3! This book ends and leaves you reeling for more!!
