Arcturus

Rate this book
Arcturus is a love story of two people who refuse to give up and the tale of a family on a cross-country journey learning to heal. Arcturus awakens the soul, gripping readers’ hearts and leaving them questioning what truly matters.

In our lives, there are defining moments - moments in which we love, laugh, grieve, and heal. These moments are filled with highs and lows like the ocean tide. When the tide recedes, exposing beautiful shells, only then do we realize the gifts that they bring to us. If it were not for the lows, those gifts would never be discovered.

We all have our own stories, but something truly special happened thirty-six years ago. We received a gift. Her name was Emily Rene White, and this is her story.

Michael Combs is an author and licensed massage therapist. He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Raised in Arkansas, he began writing at sixteen and has received numerous awards for his poetry. Now he has turned his primary focus to fiction.

Whether it involves months of research or traveling to the locations he writes about, he embeds himself into his writing. Unlike many authors who require silence when writing, Combs writes to music and has a soundtrack for each book, giving his work a unique flow. When asked about his writing, Combs likes to describe himself as a storyteller, having lived a remarkable life that has given him abundant writing material.

Besides The Long Road Home, Michael’s writings include: Lost Boy, Arcturus, Lost Boy: Brace Yourself, and Twice Upon a Time.
Lost Boy tells the story of Mike, a massage therapist in Burbank, who, through his daily struggles, masks his sorrow with humor, women, and alcohol. While searching for love, he and his best friend Keith traverse many hilarious relationship faux pas. Then he meets Gabi and must decide if he can open his heart or stay lost forever.
Arcturus is a love story of two people who refuse to give up and the tale of a family on a cross-country journey learning to heal. Arcturus awakens the soul, gripping readers’ hearts and leaving them questioning what truly matters.
Lost Boy: Brace Yourself continues the Lost Boy Series as Mike faces more challenges finding his place in the world. Just like the title says, brace yourself. For along with his friend Keith the laughter is non-stop, and neither is his love for Gabi.
Twice Upon a Time is a love story taking place between 1890s Paris and 1990s New Orleans. It is not a once-upon-a-time story but rather a story of soul mates, about hope, life, dreams, and love – a belief love can return… twice upon a time.

Such a great story from start to finish. I laughed (a lot) and I cried. Such a moving book about love and loss, and how the moments we share with one another are priceless. I loved Daniel and Emily’s relationship, and the children they raised together. Each child added something to the story and it was amazing seeing how Daniel took over raising them, he was so patient and loving, but I loved his kind of goofy side, which was endearing. I loved Daniel’s flashbacks and each memory with filled with depth, warmth and charm with downright playful moments, and I loved that.
Also, I stayed up until two-thirty in the morning, and one part had me laughing so loud and so late at night. I am sure my neighbors thought I was a crazy person. HA!

Lovely and sweet. It's a little sad and very sentimental. This book reads a bit like a memoir and though the romance isn't traditional, it's still a romantic story about love and healing.
