the heroine was raped from young age, she killed her rapist when she was 14 and burned his house along the way (made the public think it was the fire that killed him).
’A fourteen-year-old walks into a funeral wearing a cocktail dress and a fake smile. It sounds like a bad joke, but this joke is my life’
she lived in the street for a year and one day saved a deaf girl from her rapist (stabbed him). they ran, but oh no they left the girl she saved’s bag on the murder scene. so they came back, and there appeared the hero, who has the girl’s bag. apparently the rapist the heroine stabbed was involved in some gang / mafia business or something and the ‘supply’ the dead guy has was missing, and the H was looking for em. and they’re attracted to each other yada yada yada - H (20s) and the h (15), - the H brought her to his boss (Zodiac’s his name), the boss forced her to work for him, doing her dirty work. fast forward 6 years later (the H and the h haven’t met all those time), the heroine getting ready for her ‘initiation’ to the gang or whatever. the moment the H and the h met, they wanted to have sex, and i’m just like why? they have only spend time together for like an hour their whole life and he decided she’s it for him. aaand i stopped there
interesting concept but things felt unrealistic, ridiculous and went way too smoothly most of the times. i didn’t like the gang / initiation plot. the romance was way way way too insta & doesn’t make any sense, which was the final straw for me. i’ve nothing bad to say about this book, coz maybe i haven’t read that far. but it was overall just too damn extra
will say this tho, i was interested a hell of a lot more in Wyatt (was hoping he was the love interest) than the main hero
I grip his hand and lead him back to the shack in silence until we reach the door, then I look up at him as he towers over me. “If you hurt her, I will gut you like a fish,” I warn him, expecting him to bristle at my words.
Instead, he does something that shocks the shit out of me. He smiles widely, revealing matching dimples, before ruffling my hair like I’m five.
“Good girl.” He winks before disappearing inside, leaving me standing there with my mouth open.
“I could kill them all for you,” he offers, making me snort.
Once upon a time, Wyatt had a wife and a kid. But they were brutally killed during a gang initiation. Instead of lying down and dying with them, Wyatt tracked down their killers and wiped them out.
The. Entire. Gang.
This situation with me having to be inducted is his worst nightmare playing all over again.
“And spoil my fun? Hush, now. I have a plan, but it will take time. For now, I have to go and play the part. Just promise me, whatever happens, you’ll keep Megan safe. And if something happens to me—”
He cuts me off by gripping my face in his hands. “Nothing will happen to you, Viddy, or I’ll paint that city
