The Unbreakable Thread #1

The Power to Break

Rate this book
Listening Length: 9 hours and 4 minutes

As the bad boy drummer for the multi-platinum band Vail, Ethan Fuller thinks he’s invincible. He acts on impulse and has committed to the stereotypes of the rock star life with no regard for consequences. The one girl who had the power to tame him is just a distant memory.

Now that she has landed the opening gig on Vail’s next tour, Maci Dane is on the path to everything she always wanted. Fame, success, and money are trivial compared to her real objective: to break the heart of the one who broke hers.

When they meet face to face for the first time in nearly two decades, Ethan is reminded of the one who got away while Maci works tirelessly to hide her past. As she attempts to even the score, feelings from the past are rekindled. Will she give into love or use her power to break him?

-----> "She couldn't have my heart when it belonged to my drum kit."

I COULD NOT wait for Ethan's story! I am so obsessed with Mark Ashton and the VAIL crew and was so excited to get my hands on this book!

In The Power to Break Lisa gives us ETHAN'S Point of View!!!!! In my opinion, Lisa writes the Male POV so well and she wrote Ethan PERFECT, I mean PERFECTION! She had me laughing at his idiot self, but then she had me falling HARD for him.

In this book we get to go on a cross county tour with VAIL and their Opening Act.

I don't want to give much away just know YES there is a cliffhanger and YES there is a second book in the duet series. BUT it comes out super soon in APRIL! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series to EVERYONE! You can read The Power to Break before The Destiny Series if you want, but I HIGHLY recommend starting there if you have the time.

The Power to Break broke me!  The prologue sucked me right in and let me tell you it was gutting. The heroine in the book learns all too well how hurtful words can truly be. It didn't stop her. No, it fueled her straight to the top of the charts.

I LOVE, LOVE strong lead female characters. Maci Dane took her destiny into her own hands transforming into one badass rocker chick. What she endured to get to the top is devastating. You can feel her pain bleed from the pages. I truly wanted to hug and then slap some sense into Maci. She was driven and focused until...(you'll have to read to find out!)

The man who crushed her is in her life once again. Ethan is so damn loveable. He's real and raw making him relatable. He lives the rocker lifestyle and doesn't apologize for it. Ethan humps and dumps it's the way he rolls until Maci storms into his life.

Lisa Suzanne pours heartbreak, simmering angst, and full out hot scenes into The Power to Break.  Fair warning she may break you as you're reading. There were so many times in the book I wanted to leap into the pages and pull the main characters together!

I'm looking forward to book #2. I have to know how Maci and Ethan's story ends.  Let me tell you, Suzanne, left us at a humdinger of a spot!

The Power to Break is the first book in Lisa Suzanne’s The Unbreakable Thread duet, and damn what a read. I adored it, and I need book two, The Invisible Thread, right now.

I love a good rock star romance, and The Power to Break had me hooked from the very start. It is more than just a simple rock star romance, it’s also a story of revenge, and I adore these kinds of stories. From the very first page I was sucked in, turning pages at a rapid pace, desperate to see how everything came together.

Although The Power to Break is the first book in The Unbreakable Thread duet, the books are linked to other books by the author. The characters in this one, the band, appear in other books by the author. However, you do not need to read the other books to understand this one. I read this one without any prior knowledge of the links to the author’s other work, and I had no trouble enjoy what was happening. I do now wish to go and read the other books, though, as I really enjoyed all the characters in this one and would love to see how the other stories played out.

If the other stories are anywhere near as fun as this one was, then they must be some insanely fun reads. This one had so much to it, and I can only imagine how much more I would have appreciated if I’d know more about the characters in advance. Not that I was at a disadvantage, not in any way at all, but I cannot help but consider the possibilities.

Sucking you in from the very first page, this book grabs you on so many levels. There is plenty of angst, there is plenty of drama, there is so much emotion, there is chemistry between the characters that you will adore, and there is so much more to keep you hooked from the very first page until the very last. Watching how the individual elements of the story develop, how things play off each other and come together, is wonderful. Each new element that is introduced sucks you in ever deeper, until you’re left not wanting this story to end.

Then when it does end – what an ending. It’s a serious cliff-hanger, with so many possibilities, and I cannot wait to see what comes next. I love these characters, I adore their story, and I cannot wait to dive into The Invisible Thread to see how everything comes together.

The sooner I get my hands on The Invisible Thread, the sooner I will be a happy reader.

Welcome back to the world of VAIL! This book focuses on bad boy drummer, Ethan, and was jam packed with angst! This is book 1 in the duet and can be read as a stand alone, but characters from the Little Like Destiny series do appear and that's where we first meet our hero.

Ethan was a hard hero for me to love. He has a lot of emotional baggage thanks to his childhood, and every time I thought he might turn the corner, he would make a whole slew of questionable decisions. Both him and Maci frustrated me throughout the book with their lies of omission and lack of communication. This would be more understandable if they were younger, but both characters are in their 30's. I think the hardest part for me to accept though was how/why Maci allowed one comment from her crush to derail and alter the entire course of her life.

description

Yes, things feel a million times bigger in high school than they actually are, but I still had a hard time reconciling this. Once I let that go, however, I enjoyed the emotional roller coaster Lisa put us on. The drama is high and the push and pull made me want to throw my kindle a time or two, but because of our characters' history, I understood why they made some of the decisions that they did. I really felt for both characters as they struggled with their feelings and with all the secrets and lies. Yes, the book ends with a bit of a cliffy, but it's too bad and I can't wait to see how Maci and Ethan's story ends!

***ARC provided by author for honest review***

Revenge and love are two sides of a double-edged sword that can at times be difficult to tell the difference between. The Power to Break by Lisa Suzanne deals with this concept in the first installment of the series. Love can be so all-consuming that sometimes you start to wonder if your end goal is worth it. This novel takes you on the emotionally charged journey of Dani and Ethan, two people who might not seem like they would belong together have a connection that is undeniable.

Dani Manye was the sweet girl back in high school who had just happened to fall in love with the bad boy that was Ethan Fuller. One brief kiss they shared in the hallway fuel her need to gain his approval only to have it crushed by a comment he made. Ethan’s betrayal sparked a need for her to change her image and become the type of girl that would draw Ethan’s attention and have the power to break his heart.

Fast forward to present day and Dani Manye is no more. She has become Maci Dane, a bad*** singer who is as intimidating as the next person. Her success has reached such a level that Ethan’s best friend and fellow bandmate, Mark, wants her to join not only his label but also their tour.

Ethan Fuller’s life has taken off since high school. After Dani mysteriously just disappeared, all he had left to focus on was his music. He, along with Mark, created the band Vail, and they skyrocketed towards fame and fortune. As the rest of his friends have moved on with their bachelor ways, while Ethan has stuck with them. When Mark tells him about Maci Dane possibly joining them, he can’t lie and say that he’s not intrigued. She has a quality about her that he’s drawn to and reminds him of someone he used to know.

Their first encounter proves that there is a definite connection to Ethan, while it gives Maci/Dani the chance to begin her 20-year in the making revenge plan. As they get to know each other through touring, talking and palpable sexual tension, both of them start to question the new feelings they feel for the other. Ethan attempts to figure out what makes Maci so different that he would be willing to up on the current life he’s living. And as Maci/Dani begins to fall more and more in love with Ethan all over again she questions if her revenge plot is worth pursuing. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. It keeps you intrigued from start to finish and allows you to live out your dream of falling in love with the bad boy and possibly getting him to change. Throw in a cliffhanger ending and a sequel on the way, and this reader is hooked.

The Power to Break did just that to me…broke me! The Ethan and Dani/Maci story is one that hooked me from the get go and didn’t let up until I was bleary eyed from reading so late. This book proves yet again how harmful “just words” can be especially when you are a fifteen year old girl with a big crush on the bad boy senior, Ethan Fuller. Ethan’s words sent Dani running with only the determination to take down the guy who crushed her soul and spirit. Revenge is all Dani/Maci can think of and its twenty years in the making but so worth all the time it took for Maci’s plan to fall into action. Will she get drawn in by Ethan yet again or has she hardened her heart enough to be able to follow through with her plan? Who could trick Ethan Fuller into anything since he never let a woman get closer to him than a one and done type of guy?

Prepare yourself for one h*ll of a story that will pull you in, having you cheer for them and then have you crying for them. There is so much in store for these two and I can’t wait to read how the author will make all of this happen in the next book of The Invisible Thread.

Mild spoilers ahead.

Young, innocent girl crushing on the school punk. Eavesdrops on him and overreacts to what she hears, undergoes a complete and unrealistic transformation whilst hatching a revenge plot. Unoriginal and predictable. High-school level drama from people old enough to know better and - surprise - a pregnancy. *yawn* Ends on a cliffhanger to drag out the torture a little longer. No matter how many times this particular plot device is recycled, it's still ridiculous. Waste of my time.

"She was sweet and talented and beautiful and I was the big bad monster who would only hurt her in the end."

I was lucky enough winning and ARC of The Power to Break. It's my first book by Lisa Suzanne and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last. Not only because this book ends with some kind of cliffhanger and I really really need to know what fate has in store for Maci and Ethan!

"The weapon, like you, is unbreakable. But you have the power to break anything standing in your way."

To be honest, the first 30% where not what I expected. I felt distant from Maci and Ethan. I didn't get them nor the chemistry between them. Only after 50% into the book I found myself attached to both of them. I turned the pages loosing track of time only to be left with an ending that makes me craving the next book.

"I never thought love would find us, but the invisible thread forever binds us."

The Power to Break follows the story of Maci and Ethan that goes way back to their teen years. Quite oblivious of their feelings for each other, Ethan unknowingly broke Maci's heart and more. From then on their ways spiraled way down and apart from each other, defined by the heartbreak they suffered.

"You called me unbreakable, but it's all in your head. You have the power to break the invisible thread."

Maci, driven by hate for the only boy she ever loved has only one goal: getting back to him and breaking him as he broke her once 20 years ago. She seems to be a strong tough girl on the outside. But it's only an act, for everyone around her, her band, her manager, her fans, for her. She hides behind a mask, a person she clearly isn't but desperately needs to be to get what she wants. Behind all that, she's still the girl she once was, defined by her past.

"He's everything I wanted when I was younger, and now... And now. He's everything I want now."

Ethan, every bit the bad boy you expect the drummer of a famous band to be. He's cold, distant, arrogant, a-grade asshole and man-whore. He lives a glorious life with no intention getting attached to anyone that isn't his band-family. His actions defined by his past, never knowing he was the reason the love of his life left him because of something he said. Behind all the bad boy image, Ethan is still the broken boy from his teen years, running from his past obliviously looking for the home and love he never had a chance to know.

"I know she reminds me of everything I lost once upon a time, and I know she inspires this hope that I could have it all back with her."

Maci's plan on revenge turns into action when she was asked to join the famous band VAIL on a big tour, playing the opener. But as much as Maci was able to control her life until then she wasn't prepared not being able to control her feelings for the boy who broke her heart once. So the plan gets turned upside down leaving Maci with a broken heart all over again. Needless to say, same goes with Ethan, falling for Maci not knowing who she really is.

"Like I'm home again even though I've never had that before."

The Power to Break took clearly it's time to grow on me, but when it did, I was hooked. I could see beyond the words Lisa put on those pages. Feeling the chemistry, the heart break, the pain and the love between the lines. Lisa did really a great job with this one and I can't wait reading the second part of this story!

Huge fan of Vail Tail here! I loved Lisa Suzanne's A Little Like Destiny series and couldn't wait to get my hands on The Power To Break. This story revolves around Ethan Fuller, the bad boy drummer for Vail. He has always been the love 'em and leave 'em type of guy. At least he was until fellow rocker Maci Dane walks into his life. There is something familiar about her, but he can't quite put his finger on it. Is she the same girl that got away 20 years ago? The only girl he has ever maybe loved? The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot! You won't want to miss it.

OK hold on to your seats with this one, if you thought Reese and Mark's story was amazing you have no idea what Dani/Maci and Ethan's story is going to do to you. I was hooked, like beyond hooked I was craving more and more on every page and that was before I even reached the middle of the story. I love how this story picks up where Reese and Mark's story left off well kinda just with different characters and a different plot. Maci what a name, shes this stronger woman then of course when she was younger that is, very independent and knows what she wants and how she is going to get it. Ethan is this bad boy, who thinks he knows what he really wants and does everything ass backwards then what he really should have done. He's alpha and of course has a way with the ladies he, what every woman wants. The back story into these to have really helped this story grow into what it is and makes it flow like water. Magic on these pages I tell ya. What was suppose to be about Revenge turned love story just blew my mind away I loved everything about it. Some parts where very emotional like the ending like what the hell, how could it stop like that. (not giving out any spoilers just know it was omg amazing). It was for sure a page turner of a story I couldn't get the pages turned fast enough. Romantic and realistic at the same time, sexy doesn't even match to the hottness factor of this story. Red faced blush the whole time and get ready to have fan near by on the hottness both from the shirtless Ethan and the incredible sex scenes. Don't even get me started on those **fans self**This very entertaining story is full of easy to read, and very Original I've never read something even close to this. I loved it, ok more then loved it Floved it to pieces. MUST READ!!!!

***I received this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, no one told me what to write this is all me, myself and I***

AHHHH!! I was so excited to be back amongst the men of Vail!!! The Power to Break is all about bad boy drummer Ethan!!! I really loved that we got a lot of background and insight into teen Ethan. The prologue ABSOLUTELY sucked me in, which Lisa Suzanne has a tendency to do with her amazing words!

Let's start with our heroine, Maci.....let's just say she learned some hard lessons when she was young, lessons that COMPLETELY changed the trajectory of her future. She's transformed since the wide eyed, naive girl people once knew. She's talented, successful, has everything she's ever wanted except one thing......REVENGE. Now that she's landed the opening act for Vail, she's determined to set her plan of Vengeance in motion.

Ethan. What can I say. He's blunt, crude, foul mouthed, funny, sexy and he does whatever he wants....including demanding that Mark (lead singer of Vail) gets him some fire flaming drum sticks!! ( you have to read that scene, it's hilarious)

Ethan feels an automatic connection to Maci, which throws him off because Ethan doesn't "DO" feelings. He does one night. Period. But something about maci is so familiar. When he and Maci get together, it's HOT! He can't get enough of her but there's isn't the easiest relationship. They want to be together, there's history there. But there's also Mistrust. Lies. Secrets.

You can read The Power to Break as a stand alone but WHY WOULD YOU?? I can't wait to dive back into the rest of Maci and Ethan's story. Lisa ALWAYS leaves us wanting more!!

I don’t know what it is about rockstar romances that I love so much. But I can never seem to get enough of them! Having read this author’s previous rockstar romance series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I was also very excited that we were finally be getting Ethan’s story, not to mention the blurb had made this story even more intriguing. Ethan and Maci’s story had completely taken me by surprise. The Power To Break had everything that I love about these types of romances. This author’s impeccable writing and angst-filled storyline had me hooked from the first page to the last. Not mention, Ethan’s POV always had me laughing and falling for him so much more. Despite his flaws and bad boy behavior, there was something about Ethan that made impossible not to fall in love with him. In addition, I couldn’t get enough of the Ethan and Maci’s banter and undeniable chemistry. The love and hate relationship between these two characters definitely made for some entertaining moments throughout the story. Their relationship was filled with ups and downs. But I loved seeing how they slowly began to let their guards down and open up to each other. Their journey will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat! Even though this story does end in a cliffhanger, I was very pleased with the ending and excited to see what awaits Ethan and Maci in the next book. Overall, this rockstar romance is not one you want to miss. Ethan Fuller is one book boyfriend that will always leave you craving for more!

I clearly read a different book than everyone else. Let me remind all of you these people are supposed to be in their MID THIRTIES. They’re acting like they’re 17! Good lord. If these are supposed to be mature adults, I’m the Queen of England.

They were immature, let miscommunication cause numerous problems, and thrived on hurting each other.

There was a half-cocked revenge plan that would’ve been acceptable if the heroine was still 16 and not 36.

Wow. Just wow.

{I received this as an ARC in exchanged for an Honest review}
“The Power To Break” is so wonderful!! Oh my gosh I LOVED this!! I could honestly read this one again! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the beginning but once we got further into it I fell in love!! This book is so freaking fantastic! I Love Maci and Ethan so much! They are so perfect for each other. This book is SO GOOD!!!
I absolutely LOVE Ethan! He is such a wonderful character. Ethan is the last single guy in Vail and that’s how he likes it! No attachments and no commitments ever. He is perfectly fine just being the bad boy drummer. The only time he ever thought about love was back in high school and he would never have messed up his chances at a better life for something that might be love. Since high school the idea of love has been off the table until Maci walks in to his life. He feels this instant connection to her that he can’t explain. He wants to get to know her and to be around her. He doesn’t understand why he is feeling the way he is. All he knows is that being with her is better than anything! He doesn’t want to be a playboy he just wants to be her boy(man)!
Maci has lived her whole life trying to become the best she can be so that she can make Ethan Fuller pay for breaking her heart back in high school! She is a superstar and finally gets her chance when she goes on tour with Vail. She sets her plan into action when the tour starts. She spends time with him and starts to realize that he is hard to resist. She keeps finding herself fall for him but then he does something just like the old him and it reminds her why she is doing this. The connection she felt in high school is still there and even with all the stupid stuff he does she can’t stop herself from falling.
“The Power To Break” is an amazing story! I Love Maci and Ethan and I know you will to. Being together isn’t easy but they both try. They have this amazing connection. This was so GOOD! Full of so much emotion. The passion these two have when they kiss is so beautiful and wonderful and just amazing! They make me so happy even when they fight. I LOVE this book!! It just keep getting better! It really flowed so perfectly. I am so ready for book 2 “The Invisible Thread” I know its going to be so amazing epically with how this one left off!!! You guys have got to read this new Series!! Its Amazing!!

OH MY GOSH!! Lisa Suzanne just SLAYED me with the ending of The Power to Break! I am dying to know what's going to happen when the book picks back up. I feel like the characters are still living and breathing and I'm just missing it. It's such a strange feeling to have, because you feel this desire to pick the book back up and find out what is happening, only to realize that it's the end. There is nothing else. There are no more pages to read right now. I AM GOING CRAZY.

Saying that though, I kind of love this feeling and knowing that I will get more and it will be more than I even knew I wanted. The conclusion of this duet I'm sure will bring the drama. I LOVE the drama and angst and nerves. Eek! I can't wait.

Back to The Power to Break, I'm sure you want to know about more than just the ending, right?

When I met Ethan in A Little Like Destiny, I thought he was nothing but a grade A jerk! Thought that there was no way that I would like him, but boy was I wrong. I LOVE ETHAN! He breaks my heart from all that he has dealt with in his past. He had it rough, but he has gone and done great things. You know, when he isn't doing hard drugs. You can see as a reader how he is just a softy deep down.

And the reason why I had to give this book 4 stars instead of 5. I don't like Maci. There I said. Not all the way, but half of the time. She is just very irrational and immature when it comes to Ethan and she frustrated the living crap out of me. I just wanted to shout GET OVER IT! I obviously feel like she is redeemable and I really enjoyed this book but sometimes Maci made me want to cover my eyes in embarrassment for her.

The Power to Break is a roller coaster! One minute things are going hunky dory and then the next the carpet is pulled out from under you. Also if you read the the A Little Like Destiny you are going to love getting to watch their sickeningly sweet romance played out some more!

Overall I'm going to say with an resounding YES read this book and suffer with me while we anticipate the release to the conclusion of Ethan and Maci's love story!

This was just as good if not better the second time around! If you have not picked up this book, what are you waiting for? This duet will absolutely rock your world!

Rate: 5 / 5 beats

Our hero, Ethan, the drummer of VAIL has always been a womanizer because feelings just aren't his thing, not with the childhood and the parents he was unfortunate to have. And also because the one girl he loved when he was just 18, was sort of forbidden and too good for him, so he never tried to make something of it besides that one kiss he couldn't help but steal from her.
Our heroine, Dani Mayne, got her heart broken at 15 and that event changed her entire life and completely ruled over who she became, aka Maci Dane. The total sweetheart transformed into the bad girl rocker chick. Still in love with same boy she feel in love with at 15 but now famous, a lot of experience and talent under her belt and a wicked desire for revenge.

When Maci shows up to tour with VAIL, Ethan feels an immediate connection to her, a flicker of remembrance of someone else, someone from his past, the girl he loved and had vanished without a trace. The moment Maci comes into his life, he starts changing his ways. His one and done deals stop and for the first time in his life he needs and wants more with a woman. Ethan opens up to Maci and the thread that connects them grows into something bigger the more they spend time together, but the connection alone is not enough, not when Ethan keeps making mistakes and there is so much hurt and resentment on Maci's part, that every little thing Ethan does wrong just brings back everything for her.
And despite the fact that she let herself fall in love with Ethan again and knowing that he does loves her back, Maci doesn't let go of the hurt and resentment, and that makes it impossible for them to truly try and be together.

Dani and Ethan's story is one of heartbreak, one where the hurt has ruled over everything else, and the seek of revenge is the ultimate goal, until it isn't. Until the truth comes out and old feelings arise and broaden into so much more. This story is a story of second chances and letting yourself be who you really are without being afraid of what people will think. It's a story about re-discovery, or I believe it will be on the second part of this duet. Yeah, this does end on a cliffhanger but it isn't a very shocking one or anything, well it could have been worse is all I'm saying. It's not that it ends on a positive note, not really but it's not so bad, just a secret not so secret comes out and another, even bigger one, is concealed.

Yeah, it's gonna be a long wait until The Invisible Thread comes out on April 23rd. This was my first Lisa Suzanne book and I completely fell in love with her writing, so until then you'll find me reading A Little Like Destiny because I completely loved this book and these boys and I can't wait to go and read their books.

Ethan & Dani share a kiss...once.
Dani overheard Ethan tell someone she sucked as a singer. Dani went to the extreme and moved out of state and changed her name.
A bit much for someone saying something negative about you. yes criticism hurts but way to jump the gun.
Many many years later Maci puts a plan of revenge in motion to get Ethan backm for hurting her feelings.
What are we 12?
I had a hard time getting into this book because it was just super immature to hold a grudge for one negative comment that no one heard but Dani.
I finally got into it around 42%...I was invested.. and I couldn't put it down.

Then It ended on a cliffhanger. It's not the author's fault that the past three books I have reviewed have all ended the same way as in TO BE CONTINUED...I find myself super frustrated because I am on hold for all these books. So I'm deducting a star for being put on pause. I don't feel I can really review a Book that actually does not have an ending to yet. There was no resolution. So for now. I'm giving it three stars.

4.5 "Ethan Fuller can fill me up" Stars!!!!

I don't know what it is, but rockstar romances bring me to my knees. Maybe it's the tattoos or the bad boy persona or the fact that they just don't give a f*** but I just get this high whenever I read one. And The Power to Break had me flipping the pages extra fast, I was on the edge of my seat needing and wanting to know what was going to happen.

I found myself getting a little frustrated with the heroine though. I know where she was coming from, but still, I think she took it a little too much to heart. If she would've COMMUNICATED instead of just ASSUMING what wasn't, then she would've saved herself a lot of misunderstandings and heartache. Communication is key people! COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE!

Maci and Ethan's relationship was turbulent, chaotic and complicated. Their chemistry is undeniable. Their banter was my favorite. But there were times that both Maci and Ethan had me tugging at my hair at how frustrated they made me. I would've slapped both of them and yelled at their faces to "GET IT TOGETHER!" And realize what's right in front of them and just freaking stop with the childish games and man up and woman up. SMH. Other than that though, I was rooting so damn hard for them. And that cliffhanger at the end? I knew it was going to come out at some point and I can't freaking wait for the next book! Ughhhhh I need, I need, I need!!!

One more thing. Griffin is the epitome of goodness. And I know how Maci is, all tough and all, but the way she treats Griff just irks me. He does everything for her and her happiness is all Griff wants. It wouldn't hurt her to treat him better. Like the saying goes. "You don't know what you have until it's gone." And if Griff ever leaves (he probably won't) then Maci will know what she's missing. All I know is that Griff NEEDS his own book. Please, please, please make this happen Lisa! *wink*

I was so excited to read this book. After reading Lisa Suzanne’s A Little Like Destiny series I was left desperately hoping for more from Vails drummer Ethan. I didn’t expect to like Ethan very much so it was surprising how quickly I fell for him.

Maci is looking to get her revenge against Ethan for things that happened nearly twenty years ago. With it been her sole purpose for most of her life, everything she’s done has been for this moment. Getting the gig as supporting act for Vails new tour means Maci can put the final parts of her plan into action. There’s a fine line between love and hate and that about sums Maci up perfectly. Trying to hold on to that hate while trying not to fall for him leaves Maci confused. She annoyed me sometimes with her need for revenge but apart from that I loved Maci and part of me was hoping she’d get the effect she so desperately wanted.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters and story had me hooked and that ending! Bring on book two!

"It isn't what it isn't".....

I as a reader struggled with how many STARS to leave for this book....the reason is because I don't like either Maci or Ethan!! I don't like them at all lol. The thing is though I am hoping they get more redeemable in the conclusion. I didn't like the reasons and excuses they were for their actions. I seriously didn't think the 20 year vendetta and reasons were excuse enough for the offense. My personal opinion though.
The reason I gave this book 5 Stars is because its written well, the storyline flows, and its got me wanting more of the story. I don't like the way Maci treats Griffin I felt sorry for him honestly. I didn't like the way Maci and Ethan treated others, it felt like self entitlement to me.
The supporting characters I loved....so hopefully book 2 and conclusion have redeemable qualities to these two for myself. That is why I gave it 5 Star's because it got me wanting to read more.

Ethan meets Danny in high school and they share one stolen kiss but then some overheard harsh words change everything. She runs to another school and becomes Maci. And over the next several years circumstances change more things that just her name. It becomes her life goal to get back at Ethan for the pain he caused her all those years ago. But being so close to him again backfires and she gets pulled in, now she’s questioning everything

I love angst and this had it in spades I went in blind so I had no idea what I was getting into but I loved it all. The sexual tension was off the charts. I loved all the lyrics/poetry as well. The one plot twist I saw coming but it only enhanced the storyline. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

5 Flaming Stars for this Rock Star Romance
Ethan Fuller - drummer of VAIL. We were first introduced to VAIL in A Little Like Destiny Series. He's notorious for being #oneanddone, #hititandquitit, #nailandbail, #humpanddump, and #fucksandtrucks kind of guy. There were times when I totally wanted to bitch slap Ethan. He’s cocky, arrogant and confident. Yet he doesn’t always get what he wants …

#FlamingFuckingDrumsticks

description

He’s always trying to keep things light and often reverts to what he knows about best – sex.

“I think maybe we could have a nice fuck first and hammer out something great in the after glow.”

Ethan also tells it like it is:
“You drink and you smoke and you cuss and you’re irreverent and you’re kind of a bitch to me and I think you might be the one tied to the end of my thread.”

You know that old saying about sticks and stones? Yeah, they're total BS - words can cut like a knife. The damage a few words can do can cause a person to shatter and break .

Good girl, Dani Mayne turned into badass rockstar, Maci Dane.
When Dani is hurt by the very person she’s been crushing on, what does she do? She runs and ultimately reinvents herself into Maci Dane in the wake of heartache, loss and devastation. Her reality is blinded by hatred and revenge. Maci’s got attitude a mile long and the confidence to back it up, or at least that what she lets everyone else believe. It’s amazing what you might see when she doesn’t know you’re watching.

The past and present collide in an epic flurry of rocker life and off-the-charts chemistry. #TTF
Secrets are kept and lies are told.

Revenge is so sweet but the thing about revenge, it often backfires on the one seeking it. What happens when you get caught up in your own web of lies?

To move on from the past and all the hurtful things endured, we must first forgive.. both ourselves and those who we feel have done us wrong. Will she get her revenge? Will she forgive herself? Will she forgive those who have wronged her?

Bad news - There’s a cliffhanger, but you see it coming or you at least sense it.
Good news – the next book is slated to release April 23rd.

See this is one of the reasons why love Lisa Suzanne’s writing style. She has so much in her stories that it requires another book (which means lots of juicy morsels for my little eyes to devour) BUT, she also doesn’t keep you waiting too long. And as we romance readers know, there is something to delayed gratification, right?!

I really love Lisa Suzanne’s writing so I kept wondering why I was having trouble connecting with Maci. Then it hit me! Maci is stuck at her 15 yr old heart broken self who also endured another devastatingly tragic loss. She has been driven with the idea of revenge for so long it’s tainted her in an unlikeable way. Enter badass Ethan Fuller living large and avoiding love due to all his own painful losses. It’s meltable watching the changes come over Ethan as he falls head over in love with Maci. It’s also the place where Maci’s protective layers fall away as she no longer quite believes in her original quest for revenge. Her softness becomes her. Mark is incredible as Ethan’s life long best friend and new friend for Maci. Things continue to get complicated for Ethan & Maci and an explosive reveal at the end has you chomping for the next book.
