This Family Sucks! Sincerely Yours, Peter Frazier

Rate this book
Have you ever thought that maybe you didn’t belong? Have you ever looked around at your family members and thought, there is no way I am related to these people?

Both Peter Frazier and Trent Lockley thought this about the families they were born into.

Two boys, the same age, miles apart. They are both from small Texas towns, born in the same hospital, on the same day. However, their lives turned out to be nothing alike.

The Frazier family is a large, lively bunch. The fact that they are close-knit and share every detail of their lives with each other always seemed a little strange to Peter. Although he loves every one of his six siblings and his overly affectionate parents, he couldn’t help but feel out of place around them.

Trent Lockley is an only child born to abusive parents and spent most of his life posing as a punching bag for the town drunks. As he grew into a young man, his anger grew with him. Trent got in a lot of trouble as an adolescent. He would start fights at school frequently, and once he grew up and got even bigger than his drug addict father, he started fights at home.

It is the summer of 1996; the Frazier family are preparing for Peter’s High School graduation, and Peter is a little nervous because he has yet to make any plans for his future. He always figured that once he turned eighteen, he would hit the road and never look back, but now that the day is here, he isn’t so sure. The idea of leaving his family, mainly his baby sister Tallulah behind now scares him.

Right before the two strangers turn eighteen, they cross paths. Trent has somehow managed to wiggle his way into the Frazier’s life, and Peter becomes suspicious of this newcomer and starts to question everything about him. The rest of the Frazier family seem to be blinded by Trent’s charm and simply adore him.

A dark cloud is hovering over the once perfect household. At every turn, the Frazier family get nothing but devastating news. Peter is not sure what this Trent character is capable of, but since his arrival, everything has gone wrong, so he must have something to do with it. Peter starts to piece the puzzle together but is it too late? Once the truth is discovered, Peter starts to realize that his family doesn’t actually suck as much as he initially thought.

Have you ever felt like there was a possibility that you might have been switched up at the hospital at birth?
If you found out you had: Do you think you’d be outraged? Do you think you’d be jealous? Do you think you’d kill to have someone else’s life?

Peter Frazier and Trent Lockley feel like they don’t quite fit in with their families.
One of them believes he was switched at birth and wants to be a part of his ‘real’ family.

I originally bought this book because the title was funny, and I’m so glad I did. Although this book did have some hilarious parts, it gives you more suspense, thrills, and chills.

While reading, I began rooting for a relationship that wasn’t supposed to be a relationship at all.
Don’t let it fool you, this book has some very twisted content inside.
I loved the 90s nostalgia written throughout!
I really enjoyed this read!

I started the Kindle version of this book & switched to the Audible version. I’m super glad I have both because DAMN! I NEEDED to hear this ending through my ears!!!!
At first, I thought Peter was gonna be a cry baby. I ended up loving him. I hoped through the whole book that “Trent” was right about his baby swapping theory. But then….I wanted Peter & Talulah together & not as siblings. Weird, I know. Just trust me & read it.
As usual, Leigh M Hall shocked us with her twisted storytelling. I just feel sorry for Bethany. :( Poor Grandma.
This book is a good example of how we as individuals are a product environment. Be nice to your kids.

This book is weird in the best way. It's so twisted. I love the Frazier family. I was drawn in very quickly. The villain writing is on point. The details put into this story are so good. The end left me speechless. Definitely recommend.

This book is just a wild ride. The suspense and the suspicion. The way the author presented the story and how it played out. This was not what I thought it would be from the cover, but I was so glad I was wrong. This is a must read. It was twisted and dark and just simply wonderfully entertaining. This is just a gotta read book.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book I have
read from this Author. I was not disappointed. Its a page
turner. I hated having to stop and put it down.
I related to several chapters of this book. Oh , to be young
and in high school. My absolute favorite part of this book ,
is that I was into the book as inside it and was right there
like watching the pages come alive.
Great read.

This was nuts! I won't lie, it took me a few pages to get sucked in. And once I was, I couldn't stop reading. Intensely weird and straight out of someone's worst nightmare... this one kept me on edge until the last page.

I met Leigh at a book fair. The novel has some great dialogue but her style of telling over showing drew me out of the story. I like to learn information for myself.

I couldn’t put this book down. My children went hungry for a couple of days (don’t worry; they’re fine now).
This author has a taste for twistedness as shown in her previous book ‘Girl Bully’, and this book is no different.
Peter Frazier is your typical teenager born into a large family. He’s tired of their shit. Then comes along a seriously damaged individual who tries to take them away. Not today, Trent!
The only critique I have is that I wish it were longer. But I have that same complaint with any book I don’t want to end. The ending couldn’t have been better.

*Edited to say...
I just found out that there is more!!! Can't wait, Vladimir is going to have his own little story. This family is insane and I love them. I would love to see this book as an HBO series or something.

Not what I expected. So intoxicating, I need more.

When I first started reading, I thought this is going to be boring. I kept going and glad I did. The book had many twists and surprises. I kept putting the book down every few chapters, but midway I was thinking how is it going to end? I was surprised. Great book!!

Do you want a villain to completely hate? This is your book! Hall gives you a thriller with twists that make you anxious! This book moves fast and feels almost like a horror movie!! There's not a lot of story on each character, so it's easy to stay focused on the insanity of Trent and fear his next move at the same time. This book gave me moments of discomfort, but I still had to find out what happened! Hall has a unique way to make you squirm and become obsessed all at the same time. I loved the 90's storyline and had nostalgic moments of my childhood. This book grabbed a hold of me and all of my emotions. Seriously, if you like books that suck you in and gives you real emotional reactions to the characters and plot, this is a must read!!

This book was dark and disturbing, fiendish and fascinating, intense and ingenious... The blurb does not even begin to do justice to the book... and hearing it as an audiobook made it even more disconcerting and difficult to deal with... I could predict some of the things that happened in the book, and it still twisted my gut when it happened...

I liked the lively and lovable Frazier family... especially Marybeth...

Trent made me feel uncomfortable, he was so unpredictable and unpleasant...

Read. This. Book... I mean listen to it...

I enjoyed reading every bit of this book. I loved the characters in this book so much. Leigh M. Hall has a way of getting in the heads of all of her characters and making you connect with them. I even find myself sympathizing a bit sometimes with the characters that aren’t really like able or good people, and that’s just good writing. I especially felt that way in this book. Plus I just love a good dark romantic thriller. I mean who doesn’t really? Seriously though I couldn’t put this book down.

This book has all of the best things a book can possibly have. It is set in the best time that ever was, the 90’s. It takes place in the best place there is, Texas. It has everything from witty banter, family drama, coming of age, teen angst, high school parties, mystery, murder, and so much more. If you are disappointed in this book, you didn't read it right.

Such a good read

I loved this story. Probably loved Gavin/Trent more than I should have. If you are looking for dark thrilling read, this is definitely it. I think what I loved most about this book was that it reminded me of movies I love, like Bully. Not the same plot, just the feel of it all. I also really loved that it took place in the 90s.

Personally, the most thrilling (and frightening) thing about this awesome book is that the plot is completely believable. What if this really happened in real life? What if this really happened in real life with people just like these characters? I think it would play out exactly as the amazing author imagined. This was so fun to read! I could picture each scene in my head as if I were watching a movie. Well done and I totally recommend this book!
