Twelve-year-old Natalie Carpenter wants nothing more than to follow the old train tracks straight out of her no-nothing, go-nowhere, nothing-but-bad-memories town, but when a stranger arrives seeking to unravel mysteries left behind by his recently deceased mother, what started out as the worst summer of Natalie's life is about to dramatically change. From abandoned train stations to old museums to encounters with a famous actress and even to a haunted hotel, Natalie and her new found friend, John Paul, race to piece together clues that could very well solve a half-century old missing person case and even lead to the discovery of a fabled hidden treasure. This book is so good, I’m rating it on here though I read it years ago. I first picked it up because it was by a very local author, which always intrigues me. The story is really engaging and you feel like you’re right there in Berlin with Natalie and John Paul. Maria Grosskettler paints Maryland’s eastern shore very accurately and the train tracks are a big thing in a lot of towns. The story is incredible as well, unpredictable and feels very much like a 12-year-old’s adventure in the best way possible. Tracks just feels so familiar and comforting; Thank you for such a wonderful story, Maria ❤️

This is the perfect book for young readers. I was confused for by the 2 and 1 stars but they didn’t have a review so I wanted to write one with mine. It brings to life a small town in Maryland and has a lot of historical elements in the story. The two kids are related and use the resources they have on hand to solve a mystery. A fun, exciting story for late elementary and middle school readers.

Found a copy at a B&B in snow hill Maryland and borrowed it while I was there. Cute easy read while at the beach, could easily read in a day. Overall cute story that I enjoyed.

This is a quick easy read for the whole family. I'm from Maryland and met the author at a craft fair. It is a cute story.
