a·poc·a·lypse 1. the complete final destruction of the world, as described in the biblical book of Revelation. 2. an event involving destruction or damage on an awesome or catastrophic scale.
Yup. This book is that. Fire, destruction, lost souls. Cain is headed for the Oregon Coast due to the fire destroying the world. After reading Carnival of Terror, I was not expecting this.
I was hooked by the first chapter when Cain wakes up and is in the thick of it. When the world is about to end, things get wild.
This book has been read, laughed at, gasped at, raged at, cried over, nd is now cherished nd treasured by Kittee. Read It!
While i hardly break from leaving my usual review, i felt the need to express some feelings for this book.
I did not expect what i just read! This even after reading the blurb. Which itself is some thing i do not do, either. I like going into a book completely blind so i can experience it without bias. However, after having met William i would not have cared what the blurb said, regardless. Which, in nd of itself is biased. Oh well.
This book, as i said, was not what i expected. And it is definitely not a go to read for me. Yet, i found myself enthalled. I felt like i was right there walking beside the main character. I felt his anguish, hope, pain, fear, nd fright. William's words pulled me in then lulled me into such a state of acceptance. I could not stop reading. Not even when the pizza delivery came! Needless to say, upon completion i was left with a fully belly nd a mind full of hope! I could not have chosen a better way to end my day with a story such as this one. This is truly a good, albeit unconventional, read that i think people should take their time to enjoy.
As I sit here trying to put my thoughts together for this review, I ponder about what I read. What would it look like when the end of the world comes? Read this book and then tell me what you end up thinking about.
The characters are amazing. Following and getting to see everything through Cain's eyes kept me intrigued and interested to learn more about his journey and the different characters that he would stumble across. He was a very strong character that never lost his hope no matter how bad things got.
The storyline is enchanting and addicting and I was left pondering many things while reading the story. I was on the edge of my seat at times, rooting for the character and some times I found chills run up and down my arms. This story was so very well written and a very fast paced story with a rollercoaster ride of climatic scenes. This is an awesome story and I highly recommend it!!
