When the world went nuts at the beginning of 2020, the pandemic led to the closing of the school I was employed at overseas. It was then I decided the time had come for me to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a published author. I have been writing for almost all of my life (some of my first memories are of creating stories).
With the inspiration of many incredible authors on Youtube, I have grown as a writer, editor, and now publisher. When I moved back to Colorado with my Siamese cat, Syra, I started down the exciting road of publishing. In fact, I'm publishing my debut novel, CURSE OF INFINITI, at the end of 2020! When I'm not writing, rewriting, or working on something bookish, I enjoy photography, watching copious amounts of Youtube videos, or of course reading.
I finished this book later than usual, not because its not good, but because I have a hectic schedule. I have read some books with the amnesia plot but COI gives you a whole new concept when it comes to forgetting.
The thing that I seek in a good book is the character's personality; something to make me love and/or hate them. Something that would make them truly exist in my head. And COI delivered it beautifully. Ellayne is sassy for a girl with an amnesia, Kiegan is an instant prince charming, while Kade is that brooding man that bookworms like me simp for.
Curse of Infinity is a page turner and will definitely be a late night read or a one sitting book since every chapter keeps you going. It will give you questions after questions and when those questions are answered, you think it stops there, but honey, you are so wrong. The conclusion of this book makes me want to grab the second one and devour it.
If you like royal families, magical creatures, adventures, and magic, this is perfect for you. Can you already tell that this is an all-in-one fantasy?
Side note: My favorite character happens to be introduced on the last parts. He is an elf with a smart mouth, and I love him 😂
Many times, I’m able to correctly guess what’s going on in a storyline and I’m not surprised at the reveal. Not for Curse of Infiniti. While I had some theories and ended up being right, the book kept me second guessing and wondering exactly what was going on. I enjoyed this dark fantasy as a good opener to a new series.
The story follows an amnesiac Ellayne, who’s waking up, and provides a good starting point, as we are learning the world with her, as she seems to lose her memories after a month. While it takes a bit for her personality to shine due to having no memories, she’s curious and determined to find out what happened before she loses her memories again. Soon after, we meet Kiegan and Kade, who provide companionship and guidance for Ellayne. While it took me a bit to warm up and not get confused the two due to their similar sounding names, they brought their own flavor to the story, though I felt the romance love triangle was unneeded and a bit cliched. The other supporting characters had enough to stand out and serviced the story well.
The story revolves around figuring out what happened to Ellayne, and I love the mystery factor that plays out throughout, with each piece coming together, along with some red herrings and some other factors that make you second guess things, and while I guessed one of the twists early on, I dismissed it several times due to the presentation, and was very clever. The world stands out enough, and I love the magic systems put in play, as well as they factor in the overall mystery, and I was surprised in the clever usage in terms of the big plot twist near the end. It was paced well and the prose is vivid and not too hard to read, but I felt like the prose could sometimes get confusing and had a bit of padding in a lot of places (filler words, redundancy), which sorta interfered with my reading at times.
I won’t soon forget this read, and I’m looking forward to more in the series, especially after that ending.

*I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review I don't normally read a whole lot of fantasy novels. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Curse of Infiniti. The story was very captivating and draws you in. It took me about 6 or so chapters to get into the book (which is pretty normal for me with any book), but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. The story follows a young women, Ellayne, who wakes up with no memories and must go on a quest to find out who she is, and of course she has help along the way. Ellayne's narrative voice and inner dialogue throughout the story was wonderful. Her emotions, feelings, and thoughts are very genuine, especially for someone in her situation which allowed for great character development and allowed for her to be more relatable to the reader. In addiction, there is one particular character in the story that you want to dislike, but there is just something about his charm that makes you love him. I am a sucker for those kind of characters . Another thing I appreciate about the book is that it has a hint of romance and a little bit of a love triangle, enough to keep you satisfied, but not overbearing or detracting from the main plot. The book may have been predictable at times, but overall the story was very intriguing and kept you wanting more. I am really excited for the next book to come out to find out what happens next. If you love fantasy novels and want a captivating, easy to read, clean, and fun book than Curse of Infiniti is definitely for you.
Thank you for having me on this tour kingdomofhiraethtours Thank you for writing and gifting me the ebook Rachel!
It's a fast paced plot which you'll grasp as you read.Initially,I was as clueless as Ellayne as to what was happening because it's written in her POV.As the story progresses and the mystery starts to unravel, all of it falls into place and the ending blew my mind.I was always suspicious of Blandynne but I couldn't have guessed the ending for the life of me.The language is easy to understand without dumping facts about the world.Character development and world building take place as and when required which makes sense given we're looking through Ellayne's eyes. What you might not like is that initially it feels like we're going in circles so to speak without getting to the point, but to get to where Ellayne has to solve the mystery of her amnesia, all that is definitely required. Emphasis to certain aspects might seem repetitive, but again, that too is needed for you to understand how all of it helps her in the end. So overall,I loved it because it was a very different plotline for me because I haven't ever read a trilogy with royalty, treason, amnesia and magic all-in-one with a good mystery at that❤️
And Ms.Hetrick, please stop with what you do the characters I love😭🤧I just finished Defying infiniti too and it's your endings that get to me😭
All I would like to say is have patience when it doesn't make sense😉
First off, Curse of Infiniti was a really great read and a beautiful start for a fantasy series. I connected to the characters more and exceeded my expectations.
World building is magnificent and every detail of how the magic works in this world was explained neatly. I did not find myself having trouble on getting through with this book because I love the writing style!
Characters were realistic and I love the teamwork of them even if they're sometimes (maybe always? Kade HAHA) bickering to each other. Anyway, this book introduced Ellayne, and she's about to shine throughout this book despite all the struggles she has to face. I love the found family trope of the trio too. The story was like a puzzle, getting clearer and complete as you go on but sometimes there are still missing pieces and I can't wait for it to be completed.
Can't wait for more! It is definitely a must read. There are more to come for this world and story and I am so all in for it.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free, in exchange for an honest review.
From the very first page of this book, I was hooked. Hetrick's ability to compose sentences and build beautiful places in her readers' heads, is incredible. I truly felt like I was there, with Ellayne, throughout the entire read. The world-building was intricate, yet not difficult to understand.
The amnesia plotline was something I've never read in a fantasy before, and really added to the suspense of whole book. The stakes grew larger and larger as time progressed, and I couldn't read on quick enough.
I fell in love with every character introduced (yes, even the villains). I'm not personally a fan of love triangles, but this book, I feel, is the one and only exception. The "love triangle" ended on a note so dramatic, that I'd forgotten I went into this disliking the trope. And since it was intertwined with my favourite romantic trope, I ended up really enjoying the romantic subplot.
Through every twist, turn and revelation, I was left shell-shocked: I must've read most of this book with an open mouth and wide eyes. The pages practically turned themselves, and the pacing kept me on the edge of my seat.
Rachel Hetrick's dialogue was a joy to read. I'm a sucker for sarcastic banter between characters, especially when the initially hate-fuelled jabs slowly turn into something closer resembling flirting. I laughed aloud at several lines between the characters.
Overall, this book was my favourite read of the month. It was fast-paced and intriguing, and I will most definitely be picking up book 2, upon its release.
Curse of Infiniti is a well written YA fantasy following the main character as she navigates her life trying to find out who she is. Right from the beginning, I was hooked on following Ellayne and her story. One of my favorite things about Curse of Infiniti is how much I felt connected to the story. With the turn of each page, I was invested in what was going to happen next. I enjoyed that the book had a little bit of romance but it wasn’t overpowering. I have to admit I am invested in the love triangle created and need to know what is going to happen in the next book.
I am an elementary school teacher and I always try to express to my students the beauty of reading and how it creates personal movies while we read. That is how it felt to read Curse of Infiniti, it was my own personal movie and a story I didn’t want to end. I will be eagerly awaiting to read the next book in the series.
*I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review*
This is a YA fantasy novel about a young woman who has lost her memory and must figure out how to stop a magical curse from stealing her memory again. There are lots of fun character interactions and adventure as she navigates the world and tries to determine who she can trust and how to escape a mysterious archer who goes through great lengths to pursue her.
I bought this book a while ago and didn’t have time to read it for a while, but recently have made dedicated time in my schedule to get caught up on books I’ve been meaning to read.
I’ll start off with some minor thoughts I had while reading. There were some minor things that broke immersion a little that seemed like they should have been caught in editing. An example is at one point she’s injured and the word “adhesive” is used which instantly sent my brain down a rabbit trail of what sort of chemical engineering exists in this world and why other sciences/technologies seem to be a bit further behind, like why are they riding horses and not at least using steam powered stuff.
Here are my major critiques of the book overall without spoilers. 1. The world itself felt a bit empty and small. I’m sure the world will be expanded more in the other books, but it was noticeable especially in the town where Kade and Kiegan are from. Travelling didn’t seem to be a long endeavor so I was imagining the country to be about the size of Colorado state, but this could have been intentional. 2. The protagonist is a bit passive, it just sort of felt like through most of the book other people were making decisions for her or she’s reacting to other people’s decisions. 3. Towards the end there was a bit of romantic tension added in that felt like it came out of nowhere. Of course, I generally do not enjoy romantic tension in books and don’t think they’re done well in YA novels very often.
Here’s one critique I had with some spoilers. I don’t want to go into spoilers too much, because this book is definitely worth picking up.
Overall, I would have bumped up my review a star if the world felt a bit more thought out and if the protagonist was less passive. I do recognize also that I’ve just not really been into YA novels like I used to be.
Lastly, I want to give some more praise for this book. I can tell that Rachel put a lot of effort into developing her characters and that showed through the interactions they had with each other. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the other books in the Trilogy and the Fallen Heir duology. I really need to get caught up before she releases her new series. I’m already a quarter of the way through the second book so I’ll write a review for that one as well. This is a quick read and not too expensive so I would for sure recommend picking this one up for a YA fantasy.
The way this story started is fantastic! Ellayne wakes up with no memory of anything. Nothing about herself, she doesn’t remember her name, or her life, like who she is or what she does. We travel with her trying to figure out who she is. We are just as blind as she is as to who she is, and it is definitely an interesting journey with Ellayne learning about the world, meeting characters, people who are willing to help her figure things out, and then what she does once she learns about herself.
I applaud how the author wrote this first book 👏🏻 I mean from the beginning you are trying to guess who Ellayne is and why she has no memory, the whole book! We get to explore the world, learn about different places and about the different people. There are many different mythical creatures and people, both magical and non-magical. Ellayne does a good job of keeping together. I mean, if I were her, I would have lost patience in trying to figure out who I am. And at times she did get frustrated, which makes sense, I would too.
At one point, she meets two boys Kade and Kiegan who stop everything to help her. When I saw there were two boys, all I could think of was love triangle approaching 😫 but thankfully, romance is not the focus of this series. It’s truly about Ellayne figuring out who she is and what she does going forward once she figures it out. I do love the boys, though. Kiegan with his charming personality, and Kade with his brooding personality. They added a nice mix to the group of travelers.
My only issue is that I didn’t know how old everyone is, and as the story progressed, I got the impression they’re very young because of how they acted, especially with each other. Which is another bummer for me is how the characters would act, Ellayne specifically. They tended to act a bit immature, mainly towards the end. Of course, that might be because they were comfortable around each other and felt comfortable with being sarcastic with each other.
We meet other great characters(looking at you Armannii!), there are twists which always make a book great, and an interesting world we get to explore. I look forward to seeing how the story continues after that ending! I received a free digital copy to read from the author for a book tour. All thoughts are my own and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
Non-spoiler review: I really enjoyed this book! I loved the mystery aspects and how the clues all added up as we went. Knowing that this is Anastasia inspired, I had a couple of guesses about parts, but other parts still surprised me. I didn’t love Ellayne at the beginning but she is definitely a strong FMC and I love that we see her grow from a person who had a seemingly drab life without her memories to her normal brave, clever, snarky self as the book goes on. After she meets Kade and Kiegan and we get their banter I was definitely hooked.
More spoiler-y review: I love the concept of Ellayne leaving herself clues, that part was so cool. It makes me want to know more about how she very first started figuring out her mystery. I really liked both of our MMCs and how they are protective of Ellayne but aren’t the traditional warrior type we see in a lot of fantasy books. I am very intrigued by Armannii and look forward to learning more about his character and how he came to help Ellayne. I had suspicions about Blanndynne but was still surprised how involved she actually was with helping Diomedes curse Ellayne. I was so frustrated with Kiegan and how he acted just because Ellayne didn’t love him when she had her own very important issues going on, and then his twist at the end had me shook! I already bought the next 2 books and can’t wait to see where this goes. Also I can’t wait for more of Kade’s story, why can he see things others can’t? Is he magic descent too? I like that we are introduced to the magic elements in this book but we still have so much more to delve into with that because the main theme of this book was finding out how to help Ellayne. Now we will get to see why she is so powerful and what that will mean for her and who Kade really is and why he is special. I also love a tough FMC and I am looking forward to seeing how powerful Ellayne is now that she has her memories and will grow her magic!
Big thank you to the author, Rachel Hetrick, for providing to me a free copy of this book. All opinions are honest and my own.

Hetrick’s booked pulled me in right away. I loved the world she created, intricate yet able to be navigated without tons of effort. The characters were all well thought out and portrayed genuine emotions you could easily imagine and believe that’s how they really felt. It was a quick moving book, but I wouldn’t want any more extravagant details. It was very descriptive although sometimes the analogies with the description would take away from the story, being slightly irrelevant/unnecessary as a vision or feeling was being created. I thought this improved after the first few chapters, and the flow became better with less of those distractions. My only other thoughts that disrupted the story was the overuse of some words, particularly when describing the man with the bow and arrow. It got a bit redundant there but was easy to overlook as the suspense and mystery rose. The plot of the story although a little predictable, kept you interested and wanting to go on with this unique amnesia twist on a fantasy romance novel. I thought the plot twist at the end was clever and left the reader wanting to pick up the next book right away. At first I was worried the main character would be the typical helpless damsel in distress, and there were those moments, but was pleased when she was able to show up as a strong woman in some of the chapters. Would like to see more of that! Overall very happy with this read. It was fun and light, with enough mystery and suspense to keep you wanting more.

I love reading fantasy novels, so being chosen as an ARC reader for Curse of Infiniti was right up my alley! I was delighted to discover Hetrick’s clever storytelling and ability to reveal certain important details while simultaneously keeping other aspects of the story a mystery. This unique combination kept me turning pages, constantly wondering what was going to happen next! I was blown away by several of the twists and turns Hetrick included in the story, none of which I predicted ahead of time. The ending was so shocking I audibly gasped, turned to my husband, and said something along the lines of, “Whaaaaat?! Now I have to wait until the next book to find out what happens?!”
I do wish there had been more detailing throughout the story. I felt as though the relationships between characters were rushed, and the pace of the story was so fast it didn’t leave much room for descriptiveness or character development. I would have enjoyed a slower pace and more details, although this is probably personal preference and does not affect my overall recommendation of the book. It also took several chapters for me to be hooked on the story, but once I was hooked I couldn’t put it down!
Overall, Hetrick’s ability to create an entertaining, surprising, unique story is to be highly commended. I can’t wait for the next book!

I have always enjoyed fantasy novels, but in recent years I have yet to find one that really interests me. That changed after reading Rachel Hetrick’s Curse of Infinity. From the first chapter I was hooked. I found myself plunging into the world of Ellayne as she struggles to battle her amnesia, find out who she is and what is happening to her. Following her on this epic adventure packed with clues allows one to discover her past alongside the characters until the end. It is emotional, exhilarating, and enchanting. While some of the plots may seem simple, the characters have depth which draws one in and almost makes one feel what they are feeling. This book engaged me on a deep level, drawing emotional responses to the situations Ellayne endures. Rachel Hetrick’s book is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it. I am excited to read book 2 and will keep an eye out for its release.

The first thing I want to say is how different this book feels from all of the other fantasy I have written. It has so much stuff and just its plot felt different. I was immediately pulled in from the very beginning, especially at the first chapter. I kept reading to see what would happen to the Characters, what the world is like, and to just know more. I actually cared a lot of the characters and wanting to see where the end up by the end. Ellayne became my favorite. I wanted her to succeed and get the answers that she was looking for. I also loved the boys. I do think the beginning was kind of slow even though it did hooked me. But after that it really picks up. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you like fantasy and are looking for something different in the genre, I highly recommend this book. Can't wait to see what happens next.
* I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review*
Fantasy novels have always been a favorite for me, and this one was no exception. From the very first chapter, I was incredibly invested in Ellayne’s story, and the mystery of her identity. I did not want to put the book down, and was disappointed when it came to an end and I realized I had to wait to find out what happened next. While the plot was predictable at times, the amnesia bit was new, refreshing, and intriguing, and there were definitely still twists that kept me on my toes. The characters were all unique and very engaging. While some of the dialogue felt a bit forced, overall, I found the writing to be witty and clever. I think the love triangle trope is oftentimes overdone, but this one is done well, steering away from consuming the novel and actually adding rather than detracting from the story. It is a fun, easy read, and I definitely recommend for teens or adults looking for a light read.

I was so excited to get my hands on this and dive back into some YA Fantasy!
The beginning of Ellayne's story instantly hooked me. I was flipping through the pages at light speed to find out more about her memory loss, and what secrets she was hiding.
Hetrick expertly navigates a story that could easily resort to cliches. The pacing is excellent, and really kept me invested throughout.
There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the story interesting. One area I wish had been a little more developed was the introduction of some characters - I felt that I didn't know them until later - it adds to the mystery for sure, but I wanted some more detail initially!
No doubt, I will be on the lookout for the second installation in this series. If you get your hands on this book, you will find yourself invested in Ellayne's story in no time!
Ellayne woke up one day not remembering anything even her name. Her journey to finding out the truth about her identity and the reason why she had lost her memory was filled with adventure, discoveries, and revelations. She had formed friendship with Kade and Kiegan who had been her companions throughout her journey. I have liked Kade from the beginning even if he was cocky and moody. But he's witty and genuinely caring which was why I like him more.
‼Spoiler Alert‼ Kiegan seemed to be to good to Ellayne and his reaction to what they saw in the mirror when they went to Macario's place made me all the more suspicious of him. And my theory was proven true on the last part of the book. I also knew that Ellayne had a royal blood when the story started mentioning about the castle.
But I would still recommend this book if you are looking for a story that focuses on the journey of finding the truth and by discovering a different world.

I have mixed feelings. I kept reading so it was good enough to keep my attention…but some of the dialog is cringe worthy. And how many times can someone use the word psychopath?? And on every conversation where it was somewhat personal it was either apologizing for asking in the first place or basically forcing them to tell. I just didn’t care for how a lot of the conversations happened and were setup. There’s a lot of redundancy in the verbiage used for the conversations. It’s with different characters but the same way. Almost copy and paste. “How did this happen” “something shocking is said in answer” “oh, I’m sorry - I shouldn’t have brought that up.” OR “you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to”. It’s done numerous times. That’s really the only thing I wish was different is the repeating dialog theme. But like I said, I read the whole thing and plan to read the next book as well. So it has something going for it, haha.
*I received a free e-copy when I participated in a book review tour organized by Kingdom of Hiraeth Tours*
The first line of this book already got me hooked:
"𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦. 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦. What was his name?"
The storytelling is good, it's clear, and detailed. The descriptions of the location, the scenes and the characters' expressions are so vivid, it feels like I was seeing a movie in my head. The world building is properly laid out and I appreciate how there's a map in the first part of the book which further helped me in visualizing the places.
Second, I live for the witty banter between Ellayne and Kade. A̶n̶d̶ ̶l̶o̶w̶ ̶k̶e̶y̶ s̶h̶i̶p̶p̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶ 🙈
The found family troupe in this one is heartwarming. it's also great that this series has magic, diverse creatures and great action. Curse of Infiniti had laid out a good foundation for the next books to come. I definitely look forward to the next books!

Adult fantasy has always been one of my favorite genres of literature and I've read numerous adult fantasy novels ranging from the Harry Potter series to the Percy Jackson series. I've enjoyed the adventurous story lines being woven with the intricate character development that Hetrick creates with her novel. It's a fantastic novel that had me rapidly turning the pages to see what was going to happen to Ellayne next. Hetrick does an amazing job keeping her readers' attention with a refreshing plot that is vastly different and unique from the current trend of dystopian worlds that has plagued the plots of many recent young adult novels. I would recommend her novel to anyone who enjoys fantasy and is looking for a refreshing take on the genre.

This was a fun, light read, especially if you are into YA fantasy. I have to admit, it was difficult for me to connect with the main character some, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the book overall.
I thought the story line was interesting, and while there was predictable parts, I was pleasantly surprised with how Hetrick tied the ending together. The description of the setting, and the characters was great. Moreover, I was impressed with the history Hetrick created for this story. I really enjoyed how you uncovered the history bit by bit along with Ellayne.
I'm interested to see where this story goes, and I can't wait for the second book!
Curse of Infinity is the first book in the Infinity Trilogy by Rachel Hetrick. It's about Ellayne who lost her compete memory and is hunted down by a dark archer. On her way to find herself she meets Kiegan and Kade, who help her discover the source of her amnesia. Now they have to find a way to prevent her next memory loss.
Curse of Infinity is a super suspenseful fantasy novel, which got me from the first page. The world is beautifully detailed and the characters are complex and interesting. I absolutely loved the plot and how the story unravels. All in all Curse of Infinity is a great book and I can recommend it to every fanatasy lover!

I have been interested in getting into arcs and/or indie author reviews and this author popped up on my TikTok FYP one day. I had no idea what I was getting into with this one but I’m glad it found its way into my reading list!
The beginning started out a little slow but less than half way through things started to pick up and it was definitely a page turner! Easy reading but also had a lot of action, questions, and surprises. I really enjoyed this one and will be continuing the series! For reference, some of my favorite series have been ACOTAR, Lady of Darkness, etc and this one fell right into suite with them!
Thank you to the author for providing to me a free copy of this book. All opinions are honest and my own.
Thank you to the author for providing to me a free copy of this book. All opinions are honest and my own. The start of the book had me very confused, but slowly started to get an understanding. Hate that this took me longer than normal, but would recommend if you’re into fantasy or YA. I will have to give it a 3.5/5, the story was good but how fast Keigan personality changed with Ellayne was sudden when she didnt reciprocate his feelings. Loved Kade from the start but i do love a man with an attitude. The relationship between the characters did seem very fast paced but im a slow burn girl. Some of the dialogue did seem forced too in some parts. All in all this is still a very well written book. Hats off to the author for all the hard work she put into it.

I’ve always been one for fantasy novels and adventure books. As a writer myself, it’s something I enjoy dabbling in. Rachel did a wonderful job capturing the attention of the reader straight from the beginning and led them on a journey that had you questioning what could happen next? It definitely kept you hooked on certain characters as well.
Now that I have finished the book, I can’t wait for the next one, I highly recommend you check this out! If you are looking for a fantasy book to get into, this would be one to add to your library.
This book is so amazing! If you love reading a good fantasy novel and a good mystery, this is the book for you. I kept wanting to read more to find out the next clue as to what was really going on. The characters were great and had good development and the fascinating plot had me staying up WAY too late because I didn't want to put it down. If you enjoy John Flanagan's or Shannon Messenger's books, you will LOVE Rachel Hetrick!
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Now, I'm buying the hardcopy of the book to read to the rest of my family! I can't wait for book 2!
I enjoyed this book! I was immediately captivated by the fact that the FMC had no memory of who she was. The three main characters had an interesting relationship and it was fun to see their characters evolve. As we progressed through the book and continued on the journey to solve the mystery of Ellayne, the author did a good job of building the world and giving just enough information to keep me wanting to read more and put the pieces of the puzzle together. My only critique is that I didn’t like the story told in third person, but that is my own personal preference. Overall, it was a good book, easy read, and I enjoyed it.

I don’t tend to read YA Fantasy Fiction, but I enjoyed reading The Curse of Infiniti. Though written for a younger audience (pre-teens and teens), this book had an intriguing plot that engaged readers from the beginning. The character development and suspense kept me intrigued until the very last page. I’d recommend this book for any young readers who enjoy fantasy (or for adults who want a fun read). I look forward to seeing where Hetrick takes the story in the next two books of the trilogy!
