The Cartel King

Rate this book
They call him The Desert King, and he’ll stop at nothing to make me his queen.

He’s fresh out of prison, an escapee with an unquenchable lust for money, violence…
…and small-town women like me.

He’s a rich cartel boss, a gorgeous scoundrel, and just the type of monster that can make any woman bend to his will.
By a cruel twist of fate, I’ve fallen into his powerful hands.
I don’t trust him, but he doesn’t care.
He’s already decided that he’s going to own and command every inch of my body and soul.

But there’s more to his story than reckless power and seduction. He has secrets to hide, things that would seal both of our fates if anyone were to ever find out.
I want to know the truth.

Who is this desert king, and what terrible truth lies beneath his pale blue eyes?

If you enjoy enemies to lovers, age gaps, strong heroines, and alphas with just the right amount of attitude (a lot!), then you’re going to love this captive mafia romance.

4 STARS for The Cartel King by Bella King
ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way .

This was a great relatively quick read !! Lots going on but here is what I loved :

Attractive book cover and blurb it would make me want to one click
Mafia / Cartel setting
Age Gap Romance
Kidnapping / on the run from the Mexican and American authorities in route to Canada
Friends to Lovers
Heroine is from a small town in Texas - MaryBeth is strong and feisty
Sizzling chemistry
Funny / sarcasm with some laugh out loud moments
HEA

MaryBeth is a small town girl wanting to escape her life in Texas but NOT by being kidnapped by Rey Del Desierto aka The Desert King. Rey is a ruthless killer having escaped prison and is on the run to a new life in Canada. Their worlds collide when MaryBeth just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There is some violence in the book but it’s all in keeping with the storyline..

The Cartel King kept my attention throughout - great read !

Didn’t really like this one the heroine was so stupid and childish who gets in a car with a stranger who is wearing a bandana across he’s face and this book was not based in real life with the covid 19 pandemic so she has no excuse 😂 and then she falls in love with him in like less then 24 hours because that’s normal he put you in the boot of he’s car while you are in Texas in the summer she could have died but it’s ok because he got her some food when he stopped to get himself some so alls ok

I would not read this again I did not feel any real feelings our emotions in this book i didn’t get excited to keep reading which was disappointing all I kept thinking was when is this girl gonna find her common sense unfortunately she didn’t the two stars are more for the cover because come on he is nice lol

Was not a book for me but others will love it

I so wanted to love The Cartel King as I was excited when I read the book description for this Bella King book. Well I cannot say that I loved the story of Marybeth and Rey. It is an age-gap romance with Mafia/Cartel and all sorts of things added in. If you can suspend all reality then this book will definitely take you on an interesting journey. For me I had a hard time and ended up skimming through or putting it down to pick it up again a few days later. I just never connected with the story or characters very much.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own and I know that other readers will love this book. I felt that it was not the best book by this author but I will continue to read more by her.

A captive mafia romance - enemies to lovers, age gap, strong female lead paired with an alpha male. This story is action-packed and suspenseful with funny moments and simmering chemistry. Marybeth is an innocent pastor's daughter and Rey is a Cartel boss on the run. He has secrets, she has surprises. Will Marybeth escape his hasty abduction or will she become a part of Rey's future plans? This is an enjoyable read! Told in multiple POV, I finished this book in one sitting. A page-turner with drama and insight into each individual's personality, motivation and emotions - entertaining and satisfying!

WOW!! This book is just … WOW!! Absolutely fantastic!! It is a compelling, emotionally deep, well written, well-developed, consistent, and engaging on the edge of your seat captivating read with nail-biting suspense, danger, and twists and turns. The characters are strong; the chemistry between them is steamy, intense, and off the charts. This book will hold your interest from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

Could not finish.

It’s been a long time since I couldn’t finish a book. Usually, curiosity alone will make me finish. This one was a different case. It is a really bad book. Basically 2 people having a boring conversation for way too many pages. Do not recommend.

Decent read.

The story was okay even if it seemed a little juvenile at times. The characters were all kind of stupid in a sense that nothing seemed to bother them. Not sure I'll read anything from this author again.

this book was in my wish list for weeks and for some reason I had just never started reading it, what a mistake that was. Such a good book and I'm annoyed that I hadn't started it sooner!!!
