This book has everything anyone would want to know about different fibers and fabrics, presented in a way that's enjoyable even for a noob like me. It has honestly changed the way I buy and look at clothes. Moving to a hot and humid country really forces you to put comfort and breathability over everything else haha
Absolutely loved loved loved this book!! Such a great intro to fabric types. The format of the book is super straightforward and easy to navigate, and makes it easy to compare and understand the differences between fabrics. This covers fibers, construction methods (woven, knit, other), patterns, colors, and more. The visual design of this book is also 10/10. The page layouts, the feel of the extra thick pages, the tactile cover…just a stunning book. Probably not great if you’re looking for a very deep analysis, but fantastic if you want to learn beyond the very basics and want a great reference book.
This book has been my savior during my fashion design school studies. Totally worth the money; there is everything you need to know about textiles, from weaving techniques to fiber explanations and fabrics definitions and history, to knitting… it gives a general idea about the process from the raw material to the finished product, with useful pictures and graphics. This series of books is very well done!
Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre telas y mucho más (en serio, nadie necesita saber TODOS los tipos de encaje de máquina que hay). Un recurso estupendo para coser pero también para comprar y cuidar de productos de tela.
Textilepedia is truly thorough guide for every textile and fashion professional /enthusiast. Its development from the fiber, through yarn, following the process of making the fabric itself and leading into finishing techniques is absolutely enriching. I got some of this knowledge throughout my studies, but never in this complex and organized way. Not to mention its beautiful design which turns this book into an collectible item. Recommended on every level.
I've been learning how to sew for the past few months and this book helped me understand more about fabrics and the best use for each piece of clothing I want to create. Fashionary is always excellent with their work <3
This is a great breakdown of different fibers, how they're made, their properties, comparisons/contrasts, etc. I appreciate all the knowledge in this! I do wish there was a little more critical eye in regards to colonial history of certain fibers and also to sustainability but otherwise it's a great resource.
